Amazing kernel, great performance with outstanding battery life.
I suggest installing Abyss Script from recovery which is set to Sio + Abyssplug = best combo on this rom.

It is already. 4th line. It's not on github you have to download the whole thing from nonsolosmartphone forums.
Angelom has now merged Sammy and AOSP kernel images. The versions in OP are outdated. Version 1.0 AbyssKernel is now the latest, built on Linux 3.0.32.

yes now is one kernel for aosp and samsung. like siyah kernel. great that is a thread for abyss kernel too in original android development.

I am not sure if you are the right person to answer it.. afterall, you have started the thread but the development is carried out by someone else.
but unlike xxKernel (myfluxi's) which is also started by someone else, I cannot see any original part in this kernel. I find it quite right that xxKernel should be in this section whereas I think completely opposite for this one.
there is also another extremely important point that this kernel uses tarball for sources which makes me think that it should be moved to another section.
or maybe someone can tell me a point that I am missing about it's originality...

For sure he's the unique author, Angelom.
Take a look at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1526852

FlyHigh Kernel v0.1
First: Thanks goes to LorD ClockaN he showed me everything and did the most in this kernel.
FlyHigh kernel - Features:
OC up to 1.7GHz
more frequencies
patched to kernel version 2.6.35.14
brazilianwax (smartass2) governor (default)
interactive governor
conservatice gevornor
powersafe governor
ondemand governor
userspace governor
performance governor
and more..
LorD ClockaN said:
Governors for NOOBS:
interactive - Instead of sampling the cpu at a specified rate, the governor will scale the cpu frequency up when coming out of idle. When the cpu comes out of idle, a timer is configured to fire within 1-2 ticks. If the cpu is 100% busy from exiting idle to when the timer fires then we assume the cpu is underpowered and ramp to MAX speed.
smartass - Is an improved version of interactive governor
ondemand – Available in most kernels, and the default governor in most kernels. When the CPU load reaches a certain point (see “up threshold” in Advanced Settings), ondemand will rapidly scale the CPU up to meet demand, then gradually scale the CPU down when it isn't needed.
conservative – Available in some kernels. It is similar to the ondemand governor, but will scale the CPU up more gradually to better fit demand. Conservative provides a less responsive experience than ondemand, but can save battery.
performance – Available in most kernels. It will keep the CPU running at the “max” set value at all times. This is a bit more efficient than simply setting “max” and “min” to the same value and using ondemand because the system will not waste resources scanning for CPU load.
powersave – Available in some kernels. It will keep the CPU running at the “min” set value at all times.
userspace – A method for controlling the CPU speed that isn't currently used by SetCPU. For best results, do not use the userspace governor.
brazilianwax - Very agresive version of smartass

Will you please let me know how long the first boot takes? I've been stuck at the white screen with the HTC logo for over 10 minutes now... At first the buttons were dark, now they are on... But still stuck at the logo screen...

Damn. Just check the MD5 sum, and it's not what you have in you download post. So, now it's clear why I can't get it boot up. Obviously, a bad download. Is there a way to get the device to the bootloader now?

[KERNEL] FD's Kernel v1.0 (OC/UV, CWM4, BLN, ROOT)

Yes!! My first release. (another kernel )
To keep it simple; this is a basic kernel, compiled from Samsung source.
My target was to keep it fast, stable and improve battery life at the same time.
Features:
Disabled unnecessary debugging and logging (logcat/dmesg) - for increased smoothness

Supports BLN
Touch sensitivity fix
Minor performance tweaks
CWM4
ROOT
Using Samsung Update2 source code
Using Chainfire's initramfs
Recommended Voltage:
OC/UV available with SetCPU or Voltage Controller.
1600MHz: 1350mV
1400MHz: 1250mV
1200MHz: 1200mV
1000MHz: 1100mV
800MHz: 1000mV
500MHz: 950mV
200MHz: 850mV

Thanks man, another good kernel for us for testing and improving our phone's experience
Some questions :
1) root is an "auto-root" or it has to be installed using CWM?
2) BLN support includes correct libraries installation or it depends by specific rom (lights.GT-I9100.so modified)?
3) That quadrant score in the figure is high...on what build you were when you have obtained that result?
4) I often use GPS, have you planned for the future some kind of features to improve it?
Thank you for your work, i'll test it with pleasure.

Battery calibration done now will discharge to 100% like a mad man today lol to test this out. May I tell you that is a little bit stupid for disabling debugging tools?
Now users can not do bugreports, cannot use adb for pushing files.
Cannot use adb in recoverymod for fixing a bad script, nothing.

All final releases are supposed to have them disabled. Debugging is left on only for development purposes.
BTW, adb install/push/pull will still work. That isn't disable.

Okay, but you can disable adb.
Debugging is also handy for people who make a own app, or ROM.
Ex. ROM chefs.

Yes. But, disabling adb completely isn't a wise choice. In-case a user is facing problem with their ROM and data-wipe doesn't help, they will need to push in a clean ROM to flash from CWM, it is important to have adb then.
Developers should use another kernel. This is meant for end-users who likes their phones fast and stable.

I found a problem - i cannot use QtADB software ( hxxp: // qtadb.wordpress.com ) with his Kernel. Right now just SiyahKernel works great. Can you please take a look and see how to add the use of this software correctly under your system.
hxxp: // forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=683223 Some explanation of problem and how to fix it.
Thanks a lot for your help

[Kernel|Gingerbread] EVO View 1.8Ghz Overclock

====================
EVO View Kernel with 1.8Ghz Overclock
Thanks:
LeeDroid for the overclock source
snq- for the vdd sysfs interface
The kernel:
- Overclockable to 1.8Ghz -
** Use at your own risk **
- Edited voltage tables for at least a useable environment for most users -
** I tested the max overclock on my device and it did not reboot. However, not all devices are equal and I did not keep my device overclocked for an extended period of time. YMMV **
- Enabled deadline scheduler -
- Available governors: smartass, interactive, conservative, performance, ondemand with smartass set to default -
- Added snq-'s vdd_levels sysfs interface which allows the user to edit the cpu voltage levels -
See here for instructions on how to use the interface
-- This is a "base" kernel. Not much has been done/added to it due to my impending overseas relocation. Because of this, I will be without my linux box until February of next year. This means that there will be limited to no support or updates to this kernel in that time frame. --
Why release something if I can't support it? I saw the rising want for developers on the EVO View tablet. I may not have time to devote to developing for this device at the moment but I figured I can at least share what I have to give devs (or aspiring devs) something to start off of. This will at least give view owners something new to play with for the time being.
Download kernel | Source code | Stock kernel
express-oc.smartass.zip | evo_view_gb.release.zip | express-stock.kernel.zip
*** I have personally flashed both zips (oc kernel and stock kernel) successfully on my device and retained all data connections. However, I am using my twrp recovery port for the htc express. I can not speak for the results of cwm users. That being said, the zips are scripted with edify which I believe cwm supports. I will do my best to help with any issues. I just will not be able to compile any new builds until next February. ***
Thanks mate, don't own the View but this is good. Finally some devving for the view.
Also, if mods see this, they could go ahead with the possibility of making a whole new fora for the View instead of just a subsection.

I personally flashed the zip on my device...although I use my twrp recovery port.
As for wifi, I confirmed that the modules (specifically the bcm4329.ko) were being written to my device successfully.
Could you please get me a log after the flash failed.
Also, I uploaded the stock kernel to the first post for people who want to revert.
I will give this a try tomorrow. Thanks for posting it. Been waiting for a kernel that could be oc'd for the view
nevermind (edited)
Not be rude or anything, but out of curiousity.... why are View Developments being posted in the Flyer Forums?
How is battery life? I tend to prefer more stamina the speed. It would be nice to get iPad battery life or better. I'm still waiting to receive my view so I can not play yet.

It flashed fine for me using cmw. I wiped the cache first. First boot took awhile but it came up. Got it working with setcpu. Thanks a lot for this kernel.

You don't have to overclock it but the option is there. Also the vdd sysfs will allow you to edit the cpu voltages for even more power savings (undervolt). I suggest not changing the voltages for the oc freq's below what they are already set unless you intend on seeing how much you can undervolt.
Remember too that the voltage level affects performance as much as the cpu frequency.
On that note if any view users experiment with the voltage levels please feel free to pm me your voltage settings so I can put together an average voltage table. Thanks to all.
i am still getting an error flashing through cwm its says assert failed: write_raw_image("/tmp/newboot.img", "boot")
E: Error in /sdcard/ex[ress-oc.smartass.zip
thoughts anyone?
and yes I have tried wiping even wiping all

That's weird indeed. ElAguila flashed the kernel through cwm with no errors. Perhaps try redownloading the kernel zip again and check the md5. Also try the stock kernel and see if it throws the same error.
i did get the same error with the stock one as well. Ill mess around with it. now that i know someone got it to work, I am sure i will figure it out. thanks for the kernal and the work!!!!!
I hope it works for you matthew.

PERFORMANCE- Realtime screenshot of Velocity being used on the Quadrant benchmark application.
I labeled this originally as a "graphics" app but in further research it does much more than that. It will speed up your entire system a considerable amount.
This is a completely seperate MOD from the script above and may be used in conjunction with that script or any other script.
Expect much higher framerates, smoother graphics and higher overall system performance.
Essentially you are overclocking your device with this app.
Use it CAREFULLY! Choose wisely!
THINGS TO KNOW.
This does NOT overclock your CPU or GPU. It adjusts multiple internal clock settings in your device. These clock settings will be raised by this application and could cause instability and "Blue Screens"
HOW VELOCITY OPERATES.
When you set "on boot" Velocity will save your values. When you reboot your phone it will restore your values after 10 seconds has elapsed.
If you open the app before those said times have elapsed, all values are at default and the app will say "standby". After the time has elapsed Velocity will restore your previous values and now show these values instead of "standby".

I can confirm, it is working on D855. But as it is stated by razz1 use it at your own risk.
If you don't feel safe. Back up the files with esfile or whatever you like. Backing up 3 files begining with rm command is enough. However, it is not needed cuz we all have our nandroid backup anyway or at least we all should have.
See any difference in the performance?
Tried downloading 5 times from 2 different devices, Dev host says it's 2kb, download is 19kb and won't run as instructed.

Can anyone confirm that it's working?
As well as that, I'm not familliar with android coding, so what exactly does this code do? ^^
Thanks in advantage, I'm willing to try as soon as I understand what this does
Yes its working on my D850 it would be better if it would stick after reboot?

Battery life should be unaffected. These are just read ahead values, removing some logging and removing QOS that runs in the background. It's possible it may actually be better.

Basically when I get a new device the first thing I do is dive into the file system and pull out as much performance I can without diminishing battery efficiency.
This script is strictly designed for the G3 and will give you a decent boost in performance without any gimmicks.

Please don't quote the OP as it's a bit long [emoji4]
Anyways, here is my issue. I am VERY new to this device. Had my G3 for 4 days. Rooted, ROMed etc. I personally don't believe I have init.d support because I don't have /system/etc/init.d.
Do you have this folder someplace? Did I miss something along the way?
If you have init.d I will create a flashable zip.

*available governors, are about 50 different governors
each one have his own "settings" for performance, battery and compatibilities
is useles to add all in the kernel and is good to make a selection of them
i added few now and i plan to add another 3-4, just to have option to choose.
*kernel source has nfc support and is enabled, so it should work on 1794.(i cant test it)
*battery improvement depend all the time by the user and thats new governors can help.
*yes, i will do it

i dont know if that's can be modified in kernel, but i will chek.
also the audio volume can be increased from system/etc/mixer_paths.xml file
editing this lines:
<ctl name="RX1 Digital Volume" value="84" />
<ctl name="RX2 Digital Volume" value="84" />
<ctl name="RX3 Digital Volume" value="84" />
"84" is the standard value and upgrading them to 85, 86, 87, ++ but not much becouse the sound will be distorsioned, will increase the sound volume.
recomended value form me, is max 88
CPU over/underclocked

"Permissive versus enforcing
A SELinux-hardened system will run with SELinux in enforcing mode, meaning that the SELinux policy is in effect and things that it doesn't want to allow won't be allowed. But when trying to debug permission problems, it might make sense to temporarily disable SELinux. In this case, you can opt to have SELinux run in permissive mode, either for the entire system, or for a specific (set of) types."

OEM partition has only 450Mb, will not be a very important space saver.
system partition has about 3.3Gb and in lineage(for example) is used only 900Mb the rest are free(2.3Gb)
also keeping the original PIT is recomended for the future stok updates
most of the user will want to revert to stok rom (time to time) and modified PIT will make that complicate without a real necesary reazon
this is my opinion(only my opinion)
Thankyou!

Thanks for your answer and opinion.:good:
Its not about a space saver or installing lineage on OEM partition. We want to use the OEM partition as Vendor place in Treble support. The kernel will mount OEM as Vendor and symlink it to the TWRP recovery.
If someone wants back to stock he can flash all the stock files over the existing. We are not changing the PIT.

Hello,
1. You must rename Image.gz to boot.img-zImage. (The size will be something like 9.2mb)
2. Because there is no Vendor and Device tree for ARM64. Maybe we can port something from Cedric(Moto G5)?.
