Review: Poetic HardBack Protective Case - Transformer TF300T Accessories

So my Poetic cases arrives today, bought 2 of them. Looking at them, they are really nice. Putting the Tablet in the case looked nice and all the holes lines up perfect, I was able to charge the tablet while in the case with no issues. This is "almost" the perfect case with one major flaw, the hand strap inside is too thick and when you snap the case closed, and open it after a minute, it leaves a really bad impression in your screen from the hand strap. Lucky I have a screen guard on so I am pretty sure it did not damage the actual screen. Also, due to the hand strap the case will not lay flush when closed. My wife and I are really disappointed, it was almost the perfect case. When already contacted the seller and are going to try and send them back.

Shame you have to send it back, but anything that messes with a tablet's screen is definitely a no go!

Just a quick update, we bought them through Amazon, but it was a reseller we actually bough them from. Returning them sounded like a pain, so we decided it was not worth our time. What we did was used a sewing stitch remover and removed the sticking around from the hand strap and removed the hand strap. The case actually works pretty well now. If I have time tonight, I will take picture of before and after (we have only modified one case so far, but plan to do the other).

Id def like to see pics if you get a chance please. Thinking about ordering and removing the hand strap as well. Was going to order the Moko one which is the same minus the strap but the in stock date keeps getting pushed back

I have the same case, and the same issue. I wrote a review here about the case and the strap. I also dont like the strap, as a matter of fact I have the same case for my Galaxy tab also, and the strap left an indention into the screen protector so I stopped using it. There are a few cases exactly like it that dont have the strap. Moko, Blurex, and a Minisuit, but the Minisuit one is not available until June 13th, but I highly recommend the Minisuit, after the issue with the poetic case on my galaxy Tab I bought the Minisuit without the strap and its the only case I use now. Im going to order one of the one listed here because I now have the exact same screen protector on my 300 and I dont want to handstrap the damage it.

Moko Case
I have the moko case from amazon. It works great. Fairly lightweight, yet feels very solid. Kickstand works great. The onlyslight problem is if you want to charge it while it is standing up, you have to put it in upside down, and the camera is blocked. But this is mainly ASUS's fault and it works perfect otherwise.

I ended up pitching these cases in the trash. I though removing the handstrap would make this a great case, but I took it out last night and noticed where one of the hooks are the screen and plastic is marred. Funny I bough a case to keep my tablet in pristine shape and this cases is what has caused my Damage.

I just got this case this morning and Im impressed to be honest.. but I dont know how the hand strap was making marks on your screen due to the fact on mine it is snug when closed but the strap isnt touching the screen

Wow. I cant see how it doesnt touch on yours. It so tight on mine it bulges out where the strap is. I ended up removing the strap, didnt like it so I ordered this blurex one here that is the same kind minus the strap.

Same issue, the case would bulge where the hand strap was, and when it was closed for a hour or more, when I opened the case, I could literally see indentations of where the stitching was and the line of the hand strap on my screen guard.

That is exactly what happened on my Galaxy Tab 7.7, thankfully the marks went away. But the bulge was always there, and caused a lot more pressure on the screen. My Blurex is out for delivery today. Ill update with pics later.

I havent even closed it with the case on for Id say no more than 30 mins as its either on the dock or I have it propped open with the case. When its making marks on your screen are these naked screens or do you have a screen protector on them?

I have a screen guard, one of invisible shield types where you apply them wet.

On mine it was with a XtremeGuard screen protector. Which is basically a cheaper Zagg.

Got my Blurex case today. Its nice, but Im thinking I might return it. I know things are usually tight when you first get them, but this is too tight. I had to push VERY hard to get the snap to close, and when it did it separated the trim from the case. The hook is just way too tight and should have been angled a little different so its not so hard to close. Take a look at the pic and youll see the snap hook Im talking about. And it wasnt just the closing hook, but all the others were very tight, without a lot of insulation/ padding which makes me think in time it will start scuffing the paint on the outer trim. The poetic case that I just got is the exact same style but has the hand strap, but it wasnt even close to as hard to snap in as this Blurex.
I really love these type of cases, but Im thinking I might have to go with a different style on my 300. I hate the look, but maybe one like this. Or Ill give this type one more try with the Minisuit case coming out on the 13th. I have a Minisuit just like it on my Galaxy Tab 7.7 and love it..
UPDATE: I was able to bend most of the tabs so that they arent so tight, but before I bent them I took a pic (pic#2)to show the difference in the hook from the Blurex case (top), and the Poetic case (bottom). If you look you can see that the poetic case is more round, and the Blurex has a sharper angle. This is why it was causing the bezel to pop off. But using my thumbs I was able to bend it enough that it doesnt pop it off, and closes ok now. I dont know if this was just mine, or if all the blurex cases do this. Added a few more pics as well.

Gam3r, I too like the "snap in" type cases. There doesn't seem to be a huge difference in quality from what I can see. Do you have any insight you'd like to share from the ones you have?

Case or Screen Protector....Help!

I am about to get my Tilt 2 and I want to protect it. My first question is: should I get a case and a shield for the screen, or just the GadgetSheilds for my phone?
Secondly, my phone is an American AT&T Tilt 2, what cases are there aside from the Praetorian? I would love to have the Seidio case. If this case won't fit on my phone, are there any that look the same that would?
PS: I did look at the rubberized cases thread, but it kind of confused me. Thank you.
I have the Invisashield full body covering, its tricky to get on exacly right but works great, I also keep the phone in a Monaco Aluminum case there real nice, they come with a removable clip, I have the monaco case on my Tilt Tilt2 Samsung epix and my Microsoft Zune. http://cgi.ebay.com/HTC-AT-T-TILT-2...wItemQQptZPDA_Accessories?hash=item5ad5b16354
Go for a silicone case!
Don't get a hard rubberised one get a soft silicone. The simple rule is that a sharper material will scratch a weaker one.
My $2 dollar hard rubberized case became slightly loose and scratched my new $1000 TP2 to high hell. And I am one of the most careful people about these things.

I've had them both, and I would recommend Ghost Armor before Zagg Invisashield. That is unless you like a sticky touch screen, a bumpy "orange peel" finish, and a discolored screen.

I purchased a Monaco Aluminum case and I like the way it looks and feels, but I won't use it. There is no way I'm trusting my $350 phone to that friction clasp. I can just see me wearing the phone on my belt and something catching on the clasp, opening the case and dumping the phone out in a parking lot. The clasp just isn't secure enough for me. Wish I had noticed it before I made the purchase.
Are there any silicon cases? I only know of the Praetorian as far as the ATT Tilt 2 goes.
I received a Clairview screen protector and it is labeled Touch 2 on packaging, Touch 2/Tilt 2 on the receipt, but it definitely doesn't fit right. Anyone else have this problem? Is it just a mistake or do they not make one for the ATT TIlt 2? What's the opinion of Clairview elsewise?
Lastly, what is the best full-body screen protector, do they cover the chrome around the edge, and can you notice they are on at all?
Lots of questions, I know, thanks so much for the input thus far.

Agreed. I had the same style case for the original Tilt, and dumped it out a few times because i was walking and it managed to free itself. I use this one on my Tilt 2, but I don't use the belt clip at all. Just goes straight in the pocket. Besides that, the only thing I can complain about it, is how there really isn't much room to touch on the edges of the screen & the sensor at the top to turn off the screen during a phone call is blocked - but nothing a dremel can't fix!
I bought a bodyglove, nice case, adds a little bulk, but no scratching on the device as others have said.

I concur Bodyglove case it's sturdy and well designed. Like he said it hasn't scratch my device. The back cover makes it a thick phone not as thick as having an extended battery with the cover. The screen has a Case-mate protector film it's really good quality. Both my TP2 and it's case are from US Cellular.

Beware - Cheap eBay cases

Beware of the cheap eBay cases. I've tried several styles and one has basically ruined the painted trim on one of our NTs. Ironically the cheaper one with the elastic straps causes the least amount (no) damage while the ones with the "leather" frame-type holder has rubbed off or damaged the trim on another of our NTs. The elastic straps also do a better job of holding the NT since the "leather" trim ones has begun to stretch and allow the tablet to slide around.
Could you post a pictures?
I got a Moko Folio case off amazon that did something similar. It put dyed black dots all over where the felt-ish backing touched the nook. My fix was to put a skinomi on so the dots would not get worse but I am still disappointed.
yea i bought one of those cheap cases on ebay for like 18 bucks. i am starting to see some leather stains on my NT... any ideas on how to get rid of them? i already tried rubbing alcohol which didn't work, my next idea is to use vinegar...

I'm hoping it's just the color from the cover but I tried to clean it off and it didn't work.
Sorry it took so long, but here are the pics - excuse the dirty screen - seems like the screen savers smear up more that the unprotected screen:

You can try oxalic acid containing products ("Barkeeper's Friend") and if that doesn't work it's pretty permanent. It's stronger than vinegar but it's the same idea; it should be safe on plastics. This is assuming it IS a stain and not rubbed off (the above looks rubbed off).

I bought the same case in those pics and took the same cornholing . I tried all kinds of stuff to clean it and stopped just short of acetone. Right now my nt has a Skinomi skin on it, but when that eventually gets scuffed up and removed, I'll try that barkeeper's friend suggestion.

The same thing happened to me.
I bought cheap "leather" case from ebay. After I noticed this thread I checked my Nook and it has these marks
It is a first time a have such issues with cheap ebay cases.
It looks like it is a stain not a rubbing off of nook plastic.
Probably it is a black dye from fake suede used as liner migrated to the nook plastic.
Plastic used in Nook definitely is a factor.
I wish I noticed this thread before I used the case. I ordered new one from BN.
I would greatly appreciate if somebody shares a way to remove these marks.
try the speck fitfolio, picked mine up from amazon. works pretty good, doesn't cover the front and it has a soft suede backing so no problems with scuffs
Has anyone tried those types of cases that have fabric (rather leather/"suede") inner backing?
Let us know if they do come off. I have noticed some slight staining on mine and am probably going to buy a more fabric based case.
TBH it doesn't bother me too much since I mine is almost always in a case. I get nervous when it's not.
I got my case (actually, one of those things that make your tablet look like a book) from B&N for $19 on sale. It works perfectly and gets a lot of compliments. I wouldn't get those cheap eBay ones...
I was really close to buying one of the Moko until I saw that Snugg made a case for the Nook. I'm glad I did after seeing this thread. The Snugg case is great and hasn't stained my tablet.

News flash: Cheap chinese knock offs causing damage. News at 11.
Judging from the pics it looks more like rub off then residue. But knowing they used the lowest grade materials I wouldn't it put the idea of cheap ink soaking into the rubber plastic of the NT case either. Good call on the bartenders friend. That stuff has saved me in the past. As has the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser.
I would not use goo gone though. I've had that crap destroy plastics in the past.
I do hope you guys are able to get your nooks looking good again. I know I love keeping mine in pristine condition and would be pretty upset if something bad happened to mar it's surfaces.
You're better off buying the covers from BN.
I didnt buy the cheap leather chinese case from ebay becuase it was cheap, I liked it cuz it had the ability to fold into a stand. The barnes cases dont have that, but I severely regret not having bought one now.

I like it, but its bulky looking, I like cases that don't add bulk.
Ill probably get the black silicone case from B&N, since its the only one I like that covers up the scuffs left by the ****ty ebay case. Im willing to try drops of acetone with cotton swabs, worst case scenario, ill pull the thing apart, and paint the bezel.

It's not actually that bulky. The covers are really thin and are made of an almost rubber material. The flaps fold back and are held together by magnets inside.
It was a really good idea from Barnes and Noble if you ask me. Perfect for working out of my e-book textbooks during class.

[Q] Tirdent Aegis

Hello
Have any of you tried the TRIDENT AEGIS case for the ATRIX 4G. It surely looks great and functional, but I'm not sure abut the build quality as it can be docked along with the phone. Please post your review and pictures
Sure!
Just ordered from their site, and look very promising, JUS THE WAY I WAS EXPECTING A CASE TO BE for the Atrix! (And let me tell you I own at least 6 cases each one 30+ f*** bucks)
Once I get it delivered, will upload a modest review and some pictures attached in HD dock and Lapdock, (´cause of course, it won´t fit car dock)
My primary case is an Active Case from Seidio (such a fantastic combo) along with its Holster Clip. However, taking my Atrix out of the case for car dock navigation or simply hd dock is a pain to the a-....
OK! I remember! (this mojitos won´t help that out... however, mmmmm!) The point of this case for me is to get it fit in the holster clip from seidio active without the case for sure, using trident´s.
Will let you know!
ok, let us know, i just felt in love with the nice "man solid appeal"of the case
Think it twice
Hey guys,
As you know I ordered this case some time ago, and just received it. And you know what? I´m not in the mood to make a review of it, at the second attempt to open the flap to engage the media/dock mode, one of the strings just broke up, the bottom one, so easy (and I´m a very careful person regarding these matters) without forcing it at all or aplying so much pressure.
So if you want to try for yourself, go for it BUT PLEASE, excercise the most delicate usage if don´t wanna go my way.
So sad...
trident aegis
First, this case is on sale at Amazon for $10 including shipping!!
I am impressed with the quality and feel. This origionally sold for around $35 and you get what you pay for. It comes with a screen protector (a dry one) also a covering for the camera lens. I have a plastic plug for the earphone jack I got off ebay for $1.
This is a hard polycarbonite case, not the soft flimsy type, and it is thin yet sturdy and feels and looks great. So far I love it.
If you place your thumb on the center back logo when opening, it opens easily.
If I find any problems or any disappointments I'll post here. But for $10 you can't go wrong.
I'm sorry to hear about your bad experince with the case but so glad you are telling about.
There seems to be mixed thoughts on the case. Decided to get the seidio surface as I only hear positive feedback on this.
CK
Yeah mine broke at the hinge after a couple of weeks too.
best case
I've had almost every case made for the Atrix. The Aegis is by far definitely my favorite because it is small, neat, nice materials, feels good, looks great. Yes the hinge is a bit delicate, but if you CAREFULLY open the case you can avoid breaking the hinge. And even if you break it you can still use the case depending on how bad it breaks. The case is made from a hard polycarbonite material, not a soft rubbery silicone which I got very tired of over time. These cases are on sale on Amazon for $10, down from the regular $30.....cheap. I bought 2 of them just in case. Comes with a dry screen protector and a cleaning micro fiber cloth. Also comes with a camera lens cover but that added fog to the picture when using the flash so I don't use that. This case put new life into my Atrix so I am happy for the time being. I bought silicon covers for the ports off Ebay for a few bucks to keep out dust. Anyway just my opinion on things.

Poetic Cases!

So Poetic has some new cases due to come out on October 30th according to Amazon. They look very nice and are definitely my style of case.
Here they are:
Turtle Skin: http://www.amazon.com/Nvidia-Shield...869&sr=8-6&keywords=nvidia+shield+tablet+case
Revolution: http://www.amazon.com/Nvidia-Shield...69&sr=8-15&keywords=nvidia+shield+tablet+case
Personally considering the Turtle Skin case as the ability to use your stylus as a kickstand is great. Not sure why the Revolution version has most of the speakers covered. (Unless those spots they cut out are the only areas where sound is coming out?)
What do you guys think? I'll be updating this post with the Turtle Skin case as soon as I get it.
No speaker holes.
I was looking at those the other day and couldn't figure out why the frig they covered up 90% of the speaker ports.
Kind of makes dual forward facing speakers a moot point? Someone in the final approval dept. needs to get off the crack and look at the way it actually works lol.
Poetic is great. Ive had 3 tablets prior to the shield and used poetic cases for them all. These are terrible cases compared to the ones Ive used before. I cant bare to think of how hot the k1 will get in these beasts.

Yeah I was a sucker and paid way too much for the Shield tablet cover, but after using it and playing the k1 optimized games I know why they went with the open back design with minimal contact points. It would be awesome to find a silicone bumper or something to still fit the tablet but a fully covered back on the shield is not a great idea if you actually use it for gaming IMO.
Pre-ordered a revolutions case.
As for the speakers if you play around covering up the grills you'll notice that where poetic have put their holes is actually where the sounds comes out the most.
Has anyone tried the turtle case yet? I had ordered the Revolution back in Oct but was not one of the ones to get the first shipment so I canceled it and went with a flip cover case. However for normal day to day use the flip cover case is kind of annoying and I'd like to switch to an open face case like these.
Just got one of these puppies and want to see the REVOLUTION case in action. Can anyone please post pics? Tia!

for me it did. I think it might had more to do with the fact that I already had an illumishield cover.. I didn't really care much for the built in screen protector, considering it kept giving that oily look, like in the pics above. Anyways, with both the illumishield and built-in protector, the touch sensors was wonky, especially when using the stylus. And since I liked the non oily look of the illumishield, I just basically hacked away the built-in screen protector. as far as the case though? it's pretty awesome..
Ah ok, i didn't notice that it was the soft type screen protector that does that oily crap cuz i was on mobile when i saw the photos. I also like to provide my own screen protector and just use the frame, thanks.
My poetic case is coming in today. I had the thought of doing the same thing as the other guy. Cutting off the protector of the poetic and installing my own screen protector.
With the built in protector only the stylus works fine. Don't like the weird oily looking effect though and probably will remove it also.
Now I've used it for a while there are things I really don't like about it. The buttons are really hard to press now, I might try to mod it to make it better. The port cover will probably get cut off as it doesn't stay in after being left on charge over night. The stand is a nice feature but poorly done, only one angle option and its not a good one. Would be good to have some sort of incremental angle options and to lock into place.
But the protection the bulky case provides cannot be denied.

That was the dirst thing I did when I got mine. I've never really liked the built in screen protectors, they all seem poor compared to combining the case with a nicer screen protector. Use tempered glass + Otterbox on my M8, and an illumishield + poetic on the shield. Not a huge fan of the buttons, but it's stil the best and basically only choice for a hard case.
just wondering, anyone here has cracked edges problem?
I read it like almost everywhere on the nvidia forum... and ppl there are.. kinda nasty. most of the things discussed there is not constructive...
So I had a mixed experience with the Poetic Revolution case.
tl: dr Poetic need to make a SlimLine range for the Nvidia Shield Tab so it can be oriented in Landscape and Portrait.
I had to shave off the locking lugs that stow the stand so I could easily deploy and stow the stand. I also had to cut into the flap so it would return to the covered position. The material that Poetic chose to use for the rubberized flaps is different to the SlimLine range of cases, and is less flexible.
I also had an issue with the kickstand hinge lugs breaking off and I had to request a new case.
The new case is better than the first one. The stand will deploy much easier now, and the rubberized material *eventually* returns to it's original position. It still doens't close immediately after you have unplugged headphones or the charging cable, but it gets there eventually.

The new case is better than the first one. The stand will deploy much easier now, and the rubberized material *eventually* returns to it's original position. It still doens't close immediately after you have unplugged headphones or the charging cable, but it gets there eventually.

What procedure did you use to get a replacement for broken kickstand? I agree with your experience, pretty much the same issues here. Still like the case but hinge and hard to press buttons.

I just used their web site contact form. If you are in the states, you won't need to pay the postage fee. I had to, because I'm in Australia.
Right on, they asked for Order number & picture of damaged region and my address. The new case has already been shipped no need to return the defective old one either. Thanks for your tip.

[Q] Extra Thin Case with a Lip or Wallet Phone Case?

I am looking for an either or, relatively thin case with credit card slot or just a thin case.
Smays Genuine Leather Holder [I like this a lot, CC holder and it looks protective enough. Q: Would this protect the phone if it falls and lands on it's corners?]

SOJITEK BPA Crystal Clear [Not so excited about the whole crystal clear. To me, this sounds like a dust magnet, but other than that, it sounds like it will protect it every well.]

My favorite case ever was this one for my last phone. Diztronic Matte Case

All advice is greatly appreciated.

I've been using the Smays case since October. So far, it's done a good job of protecting the phone. It's been dropped numerous times. It was also in my pocket when when I tripped while running and fell. I don't know if it's ever landed on a corner, though.

Do you think if it feel on a corner of the phone that it would be protected? Thank you for the reply.

I have this case. I think it looks nice and doesn't make a big phone even bigger, but needless to say: function > form. Once I dropped my phone face-first onto the sidewalk. I picked my phone up and when I flipped it over to examine the screen, I found a few chips around the corners of the case and one small one on the plastic rim on the front that surrounds the screen.
I think that Smays one is your best bet, unless you'd like the Cyclops one.

I'm not going to try to predict that, but I think it's safe to say that the corners and ends are the least protected parts of the phone when using this case. The plastic cradle that holds the phone extends partially around the corners, so they are not entirely without protection. I can think of some scenarios in which the case might not prevent damage to the phone if it were dropped from a distance of, say, four feet (about 1.2 meters) onto a hard surface, but the phone would have to fall in a very specfic way: face down, with one of the corners making first impact.
I think in most situations, this case should provide adequate protection, but it is not perfect.

I use the same case. The Nilkin cases are excellent.
