[Q] How to Localise i9100 ?? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ive been flashing roms for over a year now, but this problem still bugs me..
Google maps will always default me in England, so if i share a location with someone, i always get .com.uk
or if i use voice search on google car home, i always get results from America.
all i want todo is get my phone to know its in Australia, and only show search stuff from Australia,. and block everything else. unless i specifically type UK or US in the search bar...
Thanks very much

Look for a localized rom to flash perhaps?

then after that, should i be able to flash any rom and itll be localised for au?

I think it is always better to find a customized rom for your region, and not others.

huh? customised for a region? i never thought there was such a thing..
why would my phone think im in uk?? csc?

Modem may be better some networks .
CSC is region specific .

Your choice .
Modem try them all some work better for some regions .
CSC not required enter network settings manually .
Default settings will not change if something is coded into firmware that says US its always going to default to the location .Likewise GPS.conf file is default USA time server . Build prop is often default US and so on .

[Q] How to change from UK to AUS settings on my i9100?

Hi,
i bought my phone from the UK and imported it to Australia.
When i want to share a location on google maps it always sends me to the UK version of google maps! how can i change this?
i must be missing something? my phone seems to think its still in England.
ive changed the keyboard and Language settings to English (Australia).
but cant find any other option..
Thanks
Try the following: Get the free app "market access" from the market. Then set it to your local provider and go to market and then upgrade maps.
You might have to delete your existing maps application first.

No...
What he wants is to change the CSC to a specific country using the Multi CSC on his SGSII:
1) Open the dialer
2) Dial *#272*imei# (replace 'imei' with your devices' IMEI number)
Not sure what the CSC code is for Australia though...

Not sure about that. If the problem is only related to google maps then I would just try to delete and reinstall it. It also must work without a country specific CSC.
However, you can try both suggestions and find out what works for you!
What about your google market account? Does it still show a UK provider for your device?
so i have figured out this much.
i need to change the csc on my phone!
(changes the region of the phone)
i dont think cognition rom comes with a multi-csc
so im going to look for one now.
Changing your CSC will Reset your phone to factory settings
these are Australian CSC codes
OPS - Australia (YES OPTUS)
VAU - Australia (Vodafone) BRANDED
XSA - Australia (Telstra, YES OPTUS, Vodafone AU, Virgin Mobile, 3, Crazy Johns)
HUT - Australia (3) BRANDED

CSC: I9100XEUKD1 "UK" not "MULTI"

The best you could do is uninstall google maps with titanium and reinstall it from the market again. If it gives you the correct position then make it a system app again with titanium.Your CSC wont have to much to do with the problem at all.Ive had to use KOR in the past various times and its had no effect with the function of google. You could always try Omega as there are various people from aussie using it without problems including maps and it has a multi CSC pack buit in.
its not just maps... its everything on this phone! thinking its in EU when its in AUSTRALIA!
i need to flash a new CSC but i dont know which one or where to get it from
Then what you should do is flash an Aussie firmware that will have your CSC with it.this is what I would do
1.Root your phone
2.Boot to recovery and go to "Mounts and Storage" and format System,Data and Cache
3.Go back and wipe Cache Partition and factory reset then boot.
Your phone wont reboot properly now because you have formatted the system so pull the battery, put it back in and boot to download mode and flash the following Firmware,
http://hotfile.com/dl/146325623/ef440d8/I9100XWKK2_I9100XSAKK1_XSA.zip.html
password-samfirmware.com
After flashing do a factory reset and you will have an Aussie Firmware.Download from the market a free app like GPS Status and get a lock on your position. If you want from there, root and look for a ROM that has a multi-CSC pack built-in like mine does.Flash it and use Nitrality to change the CSC code.
First off xheers for your help
I did all what you said.
I installed checkrom v6 (multi-csc) apparently
And my csc is still the same as the beginning.
Farq!
Do you have just a standalone aussie csc file i can flash?

The CSC links are still down.Have you tried changing it in any way like with +#272 or Nitrality?.
+#272 ? Whats that?
And yes i tried nitrality, the only csc that shows is the XEU.
I flash ur rom then flashed checkrom after doin all those formats you said.
Still a no go. Crud city!!

Most often when you open maps on a device the first time it start off in Europe but once GPS locks it reopens where it last locked. As for Google search, have you set it yo use your location?
My product code is kor and haven't even bothered changing it. All works fine on Checkrom and all other firmwares I've used. I used to use xeu product code on my S1 and had no issues either.

Mate thats one wierd problem.A ROMs CSC pack should show up with nitrality and give you the available list.*#272 does the same thing but from the phone, you enter *#272*(IMEI)# and you get the CSC list. You could try another ROM to make sure its your phone and not the ROM thats the problem.Try my one.Flash the GB ROM link that below the Omega sign and see if it works.I cant see why it wont change. It should have changed by just flashing the firmware I gave you as it was an Aussie one but give the Omega GB v10.4 version a go and see if the multi CSC appears. If not well have to look else where cos its a strange one alright.

What I cant understand is why XEU is the only CSC that appears in a multi CSC package. The firmware on his phone is an XSA CSC for Aussie althought I see the ROM is XWLA4 which is German (DBT) with a multi csc pack That only shows one CSC

[Q] Original CSC Code

Does anybody know how to find the original CSC code? I have updated my firmware several times and I don't have the original CSC Code.
Now when I connect to KIES It says "This version of the device can not be updated".
Help
Type *#272*(IMEI)# and you will see the CSC list.Select and done.By doing this it will reboot via (if i remember correctly)factory reset so may be a good idea to back-up but it should warn you first that it will fact/reset so if you want you can cancel and back-up if you havnt already.
EDIT:also depending on what firmware you put on your phone and depending on what your product code also is Kies might not recognize your firmware either.

Depending on the firmware it may or may not be in there but for singapore see if there is an OLB in there. Some multi CSC packages dont always have what you want. For example most here in XDA dont have FOP for Spain so Im left using KOR instead which is Korea. It works atleast. If its not there you could try OZS for HongKong

The CSC is just location specific apn settings and maybe bundles apps. Nothing hugely important.
If you are missing your apn settings did net or mms you can just enter them manually or change CSC.

In most cases i wont make any difference. As I said earlier sometimes here in Spain Im forced to use KOR which is Korea and it works fine.If you have an original firmware flashed for your region it should be in there but I find that in my case when I flash the XDA firmwares they usually are missing my CSC although they can be flashed seperatly. If you have a KOR then give it a try to as its probably a better region choice.if it works here in Spain it should be good for Singapore.

[Q] Been Having Lots Of Problems. Help me please.

Ok, so basically I got one Galaxy Ace.
I've installed some apps and it crashed and couldn't turn on. Til them the cellphone would work fine.
Then I've flashed it with a 2.3.5 Firmware, and after that I've started having network problems(sometimes Emergency Calls Only, sometimes it connects to the network but when I try to call it beeps and disconnect me, usually it works for one call and then stops).
I live in Canada. I've heard it might be some 3G problems.
I've tried installing the KIES European firmware, and the 2.3.3 Provider firmware. Same problems though.
How should I proceed? Which firmware should I use?
Flash the different modems and see which is better for you .

Flashing ROMs

So what is the differences between the same version releases for different countries? Why can't it be just one firmware for all?
Also, if I wait for the JB OTA from my carrier I wouldn't need to worry about changing the CSC, right? So CSC will just make sure that the firmware you are flashing (from another country) will be transformed to your own country, is this correct?
Lastly, is it always recommended to factory reset data of your device BEFORE and AFTER flashing via Odin?

The differences are localization and quite possibly the default language. Seeing many languages are actual android languages, you shouldn't have a problem running a rom from outside your region.

CSC is the consumer software customisation and is specific to geographical region and carriers. It contains the software packages specific to that region, carrier branding and also APN settings for data connection, MMS etc for your service provider.
CSC has nothing to do with what languages the firmware supports and it will not add keyboard language support either.

Question Bought 8GB device from Online Marketplace (Taiwan CSC) - Seeking advice

Hi all,
I ended up getting a phone from a foreign region (Taiwan - I live in the UK), since I couldn't find the 8gb version from a UK seller.
The phone came with the tamper seals broken
https://imgur.com/a/pSd9yoZ
and seemingly had a screen protector on it (I don't know if it was the factory film, but it seemed too hardy to be that).
https://www.onbuy.com/gb/unlocked-a...s-5g-dual-sim-256gb-8gb-ram~c12871~p52964453/
The phone is listed as Unlocked and New.
It seems that the seller sold a used device as new? Or would they have had to unpack the device to network unlock it?
I installed https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.joeykrim.rootcheck&gl=GB which gives a "Sorry! Root access is not propertly installed on this device." message.
Also, booting the phone in download mode gives the line: "WARRANTY VOID : 0x0", so it seems Knox hasn't been tripped.
Does this mean the phone is safe to use without fear of malware?
Will things like Samsung pay work if the phone is from a different region (with Knox still intact)?
Should I flash a fresh stock ROM? (I've never done this before)
If so, would it have to be a Taiwanese one? (with matching CSC region)
Thanks!
Arobase40 said:
The tamper seals broken is normal if the seller added a film protection...
I have no experience with phones from Taiwan, but I bought my Galaxy Note9 with 512 GB storage to a dealer from Hong-Kong but the Note9 came from an Australian carrier (unlocked though)... lol
I flashed a XEF French firmware and all is fine till now.
No need to flash a firmware from Taiwan as you can use any firmware you wish so if any malware it should be erase, and don't forget to use the normal CSC and not the HOME_CSC, so it will switch the Taïwan CSC to your UK CSC...
You can also remove most bloatwares with adb commands without being root.
But be aware Samsung Pay doesn't work in every countries of the world, so be sure it is working in your country.

Since this is original and genuine firmware from Samsung, there should be not problem and no issue at all.
As I said if Samsung Pay is working in the UK, there should also be no problem !
Just use PC Odin which is also an official tool used in the official Samsung Repair centers.
As far I know Taïwan receives International firmwares.
There was also no Galaxy Note9 with 512GB storage in France and I never encounter any trouble with Samsung firmwares.

I don't think you should waist your time with the seal as obviously this is due to the screen protection and as "WARRANTY VOID : 0x0", but do as you wish...
Other clues to know if there were an attempt to root this phone : from the Download mode you should see :
- CURRENT BINARY : Samsung Official
- OEM LOCK : ON
- WARRANTY VOID : 0x0
Then all is fine !
But if you have :
- CURRENT BINARY : "Custom (0xxxx)
- OEM LOCK : OFF (U)
- WARRANTY VOID : 0x1
Then you are in trouble...
BTW can you confirm the actual CSC ?

I have all that in Download mode - so there has been no root access?
The CSC is A528BBRI1AUL2 which appears to be the 1 December 21 security update (I installed this because I thought it would be safer to connect to WiFi with the latest version).
Edit: what can happen if I keep the Taiwan CSC? You said can be problems with my phone call plan??

A528BBRI1AUL2 : is NOT the CSC. It should be 3 Letters or 2 letters with a number as BTU is the UK CSC...
Should be in the "Carrier software version" or something like that as I don't have an English firmware version.
About keeping Taiwan CSC, I said could be problem with your phone call plan as your actual UK carrier may think you are calling from Taïwan and may charge you extra fees... lol
This is just a hypothesis, a guess...
But come on, you have all the steps and tools to do this safely so don't be so scary...

CSC is BRI (A528BBRI1AUL2)
I will post here if I decide to flash BTU CSC. I can't find any information of someone who flashed BTU on BRI device, so I am worried that it might cause issues. I am a n00b so I don't know what the problems can be.

You shouldn't be too worried about switching firmware, as long as you're doing it the right way. There might be one or two small things you'll need to set when you switch firmwares due to different configs, but you should be good to go.
Odin only flashes the firmware if it sees that everything is set right, otherwise the firmware won't be flashed which virtually removes most troubles you would otherwise face in more universal flash tools.
But do it when you feel like it, watch plenty of videos on how to do it so that you know exactly how the process goes on.
Other than that, the others have pretty much told you everything there is to know. I wouldn't worry about the broken seals since the phone looks to be on official software with Knox intact. I would flash it with a clean firmware though just to be 100% that there no nasty on it!
Edit: Since you are a newbie to this, make sure you get the right firmware for your phone. The A52 has so many variants, the A525F, A525M, A526B, A526U1, A528B and there might be more. Make sure you know your's by looking for the Model Number in the About Phone section at the foot of the settings app.

The full model name is SM-A528BZKIBRI. How do I know if a particular CSC will be compatible?
Arobase40 said:
When you use Frija, for the Model name you just have to type SM-A528B and for the CSC, type BTU, then click on Check Update. it will show you the latest firmware available. Simply click on Download and then put it in the folder of your choice.
It may take a while depending on your internet speed. You will find a zip file with 5 files inside. So you just have to unzip it, before you can use PC Odin to flash them.
In you case, you have to use the CSC_OMC_XXXXXX and not the HOME_CSC_XXXXX as you want to convert the BRI CSC to BTU CSC.

Thanks. So I can type any region's CSC as long as I put the model as SM-A528B and the files will be compatible?
Doesn't matter that BRI isn't in the same multi-csc (OXM) that BTU is in?

Pretty much yeah.
Arobase40 said:
NOPE, as all CSC won't be compatible as all countries aren't using the same network frequencies and VoLTE or VoWifi aren't supported everywhere and some frequencies won't be compatible and thus won't work !
One time I downloaded and flashed an Indian firmware to get phone call recorder function and my french carrier charged me different SMS I didn't send myself !!! ^^
So I had to flash back a local firmware to get rid of this problem !!! ^^

haha. How do you know though?
Also, is it a problem that I downloaded the December Security Update already? (Now factory reset just takes it back to December update, not older).
