Your device is constantly scanning for new media. I'm dealing with the same thing right now. Trying deleting cache and data from Media and Gallery apps.

[Q] wake-up on KH3

Hi,
first, i have to tell you that I'm really surprised about the battery life. I've never experienced more battery life on any firmware before (when I'm not using the wifi connection).
But I've also got some questions, e.g. about the wakeup. It feels strange, the phone wakes up, but it was in idle, no wifi connected or display on...
Another questions is, on KD3, using Juice Defender the battery drain over night (approx. 8h) was only 1-2%, but now around 7-8%. And I also use the Juice Defender with same settings!?!?
Is it correct or what could be the problem and how to fix it?
I'm on stock OXAKH3, CF-Rooted and just removed the usual apps listed in the thread "apps secure to remove" in this forum, with root explorer...
thanks for any suggestions, your help is much appreciated.
Something is going on background. To see what is going on in background install Better Battery Stats and see under 'Partial Wakelocks'. Then you could uninstall it/freeze/modify it as per your need.

Regards.
thanks for your quick response and the link. it seems to be the solution for my wake-up problem...
I've installed this app, but maybe i'm stupid – For me this app isn't very intuitive.
I'm staring at the whole bunch of entries, but couldn't find any mysterious tasks?
I don't know how to use this app. Are there any alternatives?

Keep checking the Partial Wakelocks option, if anything is going on background you should see it there.
the one on the top of the list consumed the most cpu time, so one of them may be your battery drainer. Open the app, select "wake locks" and look at the top of the list.
yepp, that's what I meant... the top entries are
*network-location* Android-System with 27m 5s – 0,4%
*network-location* Google Services with 26m 16s – 0,4%
JuiceDefender.Service with 15m 57s – 0,3%
hmm, it's curious - this seems not to be the wake-up problem posted before. also how to change those system entries? this could not be the problem, or?
just to inform you, after deinstalling the app getjar, everything works fine again...
and this process or app wasn't listed within betterbatterystats, i think.
thanks anyway.

[Q] Too many wakelocks?

I've read about the amazing battery life some of you get and I feel like my phone isn't getting it. I installed BetterBatteryStats and found out even though my screen on time was about 2 hours, my phone was awake for more than 4. I looked at my Kernel Wakelocks and this is what it says:
HS_MGR (1h 12m)
PowerManagerService (1h 10m)
bam_dmux_wakelock (23m)
smdcntl0 (16m)
alarm_rtc (9m)
smdcntl1(4m)
And so on.
I was wondering what these processes are, especially HS_MGR and PowerManagerService. PowerManagerService doesn't seem to be doing a good job when its waking my phone for an hour...
I went into Partial Wakelocks and found location gathering stuff, gmail, g+, etc. so I wasn't worried about that since I would like to get notifications from gmail and other Google services.
Basically, my question is, how can I reduce my Kernel Wakelocks since I'm pretty sure its not right to have my phone be awake for twice the time of my screen on? Thanks.
Do you leave sync enabled in settings>accounts? I leave it disabled, and just enable it when I want to sync.
Yeah, betterbatterystats info is so cryptic, really hard to figure out, and the thread is soooo long and hard to search.

I do leave sync enabled, but I'm not going to be disabling it since I need it. If Sync is causing the wakelocks, I suppose its ok. I just don't want some random process sucking my battery.

[Q] Google Services causing weird battery drain

After installing BetterBatteryStats, I've gotten a better look at the wakelock draining the battery. After gathering stats for 25-30 minutes, the following wakelock is the top user:
GTALK_ASYNC_CONN_com.google.android.gsf.gtalkservice.AndroidEndpoint (Google Services)
The drain remains at about 10% per 1 hours.
How can I solved it?
HELP ME! THANK you

If you don't use talk/talkback, then you can disable them in system settings - apps or delete them from the system/app folder.

You are on stock rom right? Try to remove BetterBatteryStats and see battery. If it drain remove Gtalk app and reinstall from Google Play.

[Q] Google Services drain?

Can anyone tell me why google services keeps my device from sleeping and drains the battery? I've already greenified/froze some apps that I don't use. I even have location reporting off. Here are some screenshots https://www.dropbox.com/sc/51up5tklj1ot98d/XLCmSPhY09
I recall seeing the Google Services running, but it wasn't a major issue. Have you noticed serious drain, or are you just checking stats?

Wakelock

Hey guys,
I have a huge battery drain (10% a night) and according to betterbatterystats I have a problem with "MQTT_CLIENT_CONNECT" from com.facebook.katana.Facebook.
What can I do? I want to keep the Facebook App and I also want to get notifications. Why is this app draining so much battery or keeping the device awake?

Facebook is the most notorious app when it comes to wakelocks. Wakelocks prevent deep sleep and therefore accelerate battery drain. The reason Facebook keeps the device awake is so it can still collect your information. If you want this to stop at night then disable syncing, do not use the widgets, and use the app greenify to make the app sleep better
