Beast Audio - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

hey,
I don't know how many people cares but i think the sound from the Audio Beat is great. I like the way i can feel the base and sound a lot more clear.
Thumbs up. What ya think ?

i went thru a ton of songs turning beats audio on and then off to compare the sound effects. everything sounds better when beats audio is on. im very happy with it

I agree. I have some studios I'm listening to right now and I didn't notice it at first in the notifications bar it was off then switched it on. I'm also using Poweramp I'm sure that helps also. And oh wow I just realized while typing this the keyboard in the notification bar as well. I was wondering how to change boards without going all the way in the settings lol

Tried Beats Audio with my Bose QC15's, and it sounds great! I didn't think it would make much of a difference, but leaving Beats Audio on certainly does sound better.

So you do not have to have Beats branded headphones to turn on the Beats "equalizer"?

Hey guys do any of you know if the beats audio control talk works?
Thanks

Nope, works via any headphones or bluetooth speaker. No matter the brand.

Hells yes! Even playing it via Bluetooth to my 3 year old Kenwood deck. I didn't even think beats would make a diff. Night and day vs. my old nexus s

When you plug in headphones, in the status bar a beats logo will appear, if it's red then it's on but if not just pull down the bar and hit it

I will give it a try with the bluetooth. I think its in the car. if not when i get home

Yes it does work, I tried it with both and the sound was just like studio sound. Can't wait to try beats with beats by dre headphones.

sounds good in the car.
was flat before, now its got some audible highs and lows.
isnt beats just an eq adjustment anyways?
would be great if youre just using the builtin media player, but if you got poweramp, you can tweak just the same.

Beats audio is a preferance thing. I hate it because it doesn't make the sound pure. I just buy better headphones, but if you do buy per say over priced and badly equalized beats headphones, then you do need a dsp to make it sound good
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA

Agreed. Also with most headphones and car speakers you need to minimize the dynamic range so it sounds better. Add a mobile headphone amp and you'll really hear a difference.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA

Just wanted to add a little more info to the thread. As already stated there is definitely a difference with beats on vs off. Not sure if HTC deliberately made the stock setting flat to emphasize beats although their stock eq was never really great before they added beats anyways. Now to the extra info since no one else posted. There is a built in equalizer that's for some reason not easily accessible unless you were looking for it. If you go to Settings->Sound->Sound Enhancer not only can you change the profile; There are 3, Beats urBeats, Beats Solo, and Other. You can also change the eq from beats to a couple other traditional settings. And no they don't have any custom settings they're all preset. Using a pair of V Moda M80's other was the best profile and depending on what you're listening to you can switch between the different eq settings. Everyone can find what sounds best for them and their setup.

Can you use volume+ app with beats to increase volume output through speakers, headset,Bluetooth without altering beats sound?

Does the "beats" equalizer work with Pandora?

I listen to Pandora a lot and I plan on getting this phone tomorrow. I just was wondering if the equalizer works with Pandora and how the equalizer works in general with the ear buds. Thanks.
The EQ works for the entire audio output of the phone through the headphone jack, so it would affect pandora as well I would assume.

I've read reviews that say the Beats Audio is only available in the HTC audio app.
I believe Beats is only for the HTC music app, other apps will not have beats audio enabled.
just use Equalizer
https://market.android.com/details?...sImNvbS5zbWFydGFuZHJvaWRhcHBzLmVxdWFsaXplciJd
It does not work in Pandora. Only in the stock apps like the HTC music player. Maybe it will be added to other apps in the future, but I doubt it since it's rather specialized to one manufacturer of phones right now. I have heard of very good EQ apps like those posted in this thread though. I really don't think the Beats EQ setting is so special that it can't be replicated pretty easily.

I never listen to music on my phone with headphones anyway, just through the aux on my car stereo. even then I set eq through the stereo anyway. headphone wise I just use them with my ipod touch when I'm at the gym.
Picked mine up Monday.
Beats only activates when playing through the HTC music app and Headphones (any) are present. Sound is more Robust with beats activated, and much louder.
I was surprised at how much louder the audio became. Many times I've longed for more head room on my iPod or phone. Please be warned at High Volumes beats can cause hearing loss. I hope Dr. Dre and HTC put a disclaimer out there somewhere.
Maybe they only tested the software with the iBeats included.
I will checkout Pandora, never used it on mobile since it was not supported well on WM6.5. I did checkout Slacker, and it was the worst sounding crap I've ever heard. Anything that resembles bass has severe clipping. Haven't tried the beats earphones yet as I have a nice pair of Ultimate Ears Superfi 5 Pros, as well as a pair of Klipsch image S4's.

Actually it does work. Beats Audio is activated as soon as you plug in headphones. What you cannot do is control the EQ Curve in Pandora so you receive the default "other" setting.

[Q] What exactly is Beats?

I have the Beats mod in my cellphone, the audio is greatly improved from my experience (I am using a Motorola s10-HD Stereo Headset).
And I've read it's a disguised EQ with preset settings that uses the Beats logo.
For me it definitely sounds better than the Dolby Mobile and SRS EQ variants.
I want to know what type of boosts it has so I could try to mimic some EQ settings in my iTunes and programs like that to get a similar audio quality.
Side Note: I wouldn't think my Bluetooth headset would deliver good sound, but it blows my iPhone headset out of the water.

[Q] Beats Audio w/ Bluetooth?

Does that Beats Audio thingymajig only work when something is plugged into the 3.5mm jack? Is there any way to make it work with a wireless (Bluetooth) headset?
I don't own one yet so I kind of wanted to know
Is Beats even that big of a deal or just a glorified equalizer?
Beats Audio does work with Bluetooth, sounds great with both of my Motorola stereo headsets.

Nail.Head. It is just an equalizer. It works well with my earphones, but over my car stereo it adds too much bass. When Beats is selected under Sound, Sound Enhancer, then the Beats mode will apply almost any time audio is playing on your phone, whether it be through Bluetooth, plugged in headsets, or the phones speaker. A Beats icon will display at the top. I did notice that this wasn't the case using the FM Radio app. So to answer your question, it does work through Bluetooth, and is just an equalizer.
It doesn't work with the speaker on the phone... Or at least mine doesn't.

That's strange. Mine does bring up the Beats icon in the drop down bar when playing through the speakers. Not that Beats is going to make any difference to sound quality through the micro speaker on the back. I'm just running the stock rom (for now). Not sure why mine is different than yours.

I bought Beats Wireless, Beats Audio doesn't work
Okay, so everyone in this thread are saying that beats audio works with bluetooth paired headphones and speaker. Well I tried to use my Wireless Beats on my Htc Sensation XE and Beats Audio does not activate itself, unless I use the jack. I really want to use the Beats Audio while using the headphones wireless. Help?
Check your sound settings. Beats if enabled, will fire up as soon as a BT audio device or headphones is connected.
If that doesnt work still, depending on ROM if not stock, start there for support. There are also mods available for sound settings that bypass Beats and have customized EQ profiles. I have used volume + sucessfully and to me, Beats works best in my car but for studio or serious monitoring work I use custom profiles.

I am evaluating. Even if I keep it, it remains to be seen if I will move away from the Nexus community. Open source spoils ya and I'm not too happy on how its locked down, even if it can be worked around.
Re: Beats
It takes upgraded speakers to withstand the amp, IME. I have a laptop with 6 speakers and a sub inside and the amp inside the laptop even pushes them to the edge sometimes. I've actually come close to blowing out some cheap skullcandy over the ear headphones
I have also found that some music sounds a lot better with Beats turned off (although the amp still has a part in that).
Sorry, but Beats Audio over the built in speaker is totally pointless. It will not make a blind bit of difference. I'd recommend one of these and at least then you wiill get decent sound if portability is a problem.

a beats speaker could give higher quality audio and higher output sounds, its about the same size of an in ear... and no thanks, i was just wondering because this is my first time with an htc phone, and the commercials always made it seem as if dr dre actually used his speakers and not jus endorsed each other lol
I used Klipsch Image one and Klipsch M40's when I had my One X and would always, I mean always, turn off the equalizer because it would just make the sound muddy and drown out the speakers with bass. From what I understand, this is really just a software equalizer for the headphones.
Still never understood how audio quality and Dr. Dre = Monster branded Beats by Dre.

Unlike the One X, this has upgraded hardware too.
From HTC's press release:
Authentic Sound
The DROID DNA by HTC has a unique, 2.55-volt, built-in headset amplifier and dedicated amp for the external rear-speaker to help boost the audio signal to deliver crystal clear sound with less distortion, even at maximum volume. The combination of amplified hardware and the rich, authentic, studio-quality sound of Beats Audio™ allows music to be heard the way the artist intended, and enhances the sound quality while playing games or watching video.

Not that it's necessarily a big deal. All speakers are connected to an amplifier. It could be a 1 watt amp or a 2,000 but all speakers need a decent amount of juice to make power them, relative to other components.

I have four different types and the settings are not accessible with any of them plugged in, it still says the same thing, not accessible through speaker when the headphones are plugged in so something is messed up. If you can't change the beats settings with beats plugged in then what's the point of even having the freaking setting ? It's really annoying.

Anyone Else With Headphone Buzz

I couldn't believe that I was the only one getting headphone buzz on my beats headphones so I went to the Verizon store and plugged into their floor model and low and behold I got it there too!
I get it real bad on my Beats studio headsets (one's with the battery) and in my car, both on the left. My Beats in ears are not as bad but can hear it sometimes.

I wouldn't say its buzz, its more like that "white" noise like when the sound stops on a record player. Its really at its worse when beats is on but I can still hear it with it off. This is with all headphones and the aux jack in my car.

I was just kidding around. Buzzing noises with audio tend to be a grounding issue. Not much help with a phone not meant to be taken apart. I would try to exchange it if it persists.
