first time adding rom couple quick questions? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

after looking at the roms im thinking about downloading the [ROM/MOD][The Collective] Seraphim - Stratosphere - ICS 5/22/2012 as my first rom ever. i am still factory gingerbread. i see where on the page the top is the newest version and the botoom was the first. can i just down load the newest version and not the older? and what is the link (mirror 1) right under the first link
Current Downloads-*Newest on Top*
Download Seraphim-Stratosphere
Seraphim-Stratosphere.zip md5sum = BBE19C8F2A1DE3E212B155DA9B879C67
Download Mirror 1<====== right here, what is this?
also can i just use the QR code and thats it?
so also what im asking is when i get into cwr all i have to zip is one file correct?

1. Yes latest is all you need
2. A mirror is the same files, hosted an a separate server, so people can pull from different places and not bog down the dl speed.
3. Not sure what you mean about the qr code
4. The updater-script in the ROM should wipe data/factory reset for you, but just to get in the habit go ahead and do that manually in the main menu of cwm. Then all you need to do is flash the ROM.

Keep in mind that if your on tmobile you may get a very bad service. I did the same as you with the same rom and i got little to no data. I went back to gingerbread and went with the unofficial emily rom since i have the collectives work on all of my phones

thank you and im on att so i hope this works good, does any of the ics roms have overclock in them

Not yet. That requires kernel source, which isn't posted ontil after the official ics update is pushed to the horde

Just so you know, FJ's ics ROM is smoother than an overclocked GB ROM, plus your battery will suffer a bit if you overclock.

I agree FJs ICS and then put CM9 on top to get full AOSP. I'm on that right now and everything works to perfection. Ultra smooth. AOSP is just much better than the touchwiz interface.

I would highly consider the new aokp rom. I have tried all of these roms multiple times and I am floored by how polished this rom is with no FC'ing or showstoppers in sight. The dev team is great and responsive. I just love the options we have with this phone so far. If you are going to go with one of the ICS leaks than FJ's is the one to get I think. Another great dev.

How is that? I've been tempted. Are you running it with FJ mod? What's the benefit? Just looks?

wanna know the same thing, how do u put a rom on top of a rom?

FJ mod is just that...a mod. You can flash it directly over his rom. It gives you some extra features. This is what you get and more.

Looking like it works like it does on CyanogenMod, hopefully after some more testing It'll work with full compatibility. Might also see about a cm9 build.

If you do decide a CM9 version of this, would there be any chances of attempting a CDMA version?

Any Cm7 Kernel, there is one included in the zip if you'd like to use that then remove it from the zip and flash it. Or mjolnir kernel, doom (discontinued).
Wow! The upload might have to wait as my internet is cutting out due to a thunder storm :'( I'll keep you all posted. So due to weather conditions in my area the rom will not be uploaded until my internet is stable. So please come back in about 8 or 9 hours after I've slept and I've uploaded the rom.
Thanks for understanding

Here is compiled CM7 and CM9 for zeusc devices (CDMA). I'd love if you could attempt a CM9 port first, for whatever reason, I was never successful with getting any form of CM7 running on my device.

Cm7 is what I'm building now as that is what Lewa is built upon, If I were to attemp cm9 it wouldn't be Lewa, it'd be a mashup. But yeah I'll mess around with it for a while and see what I can do but I'm at work for the next two nights so there probably won't be much progress.
Ah, okay. That makes sense. Well the fact that you're attempting it is awesome. Good luck and thank you!

Stock UCLE5 doesnt have the NFC option and since this is basically stock I assume he just left it that way. No idea why he put the NFC screen shots about that in there. I am curious how this is at all different from this tho.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1650948 we already have stock ucle5. Of course he could be planning themeing.
Thanks, will give it a try.
So you put a few apps in stock ucle5, and took sensations dialer? Seems fishy to me

I am also curious about this rom. I tryed to compare v17 and this one and there is some nfc files in it but no idea if nfc actually works. Plus the op doesn't seem to be around.
From what I gathered in the OP he's Vietnamese. Maybe having some difficulty understanding us?
I am VERY CONFUSED... NFC or NO NFC? If he got NFC working I would like to know. Other than that it seems a perfect match to AJs thread. Weird.

Quote from Rules for "Original development section":
"Original" in this sense are only ROMs that are compiled from source, so AOSP, AOKP, CM Versions. Additionally SOME Sense-Roms may be inducted here, if they include truly extraordinary development. This decision is to be made by moderators.
Click to collapse
So as MIUI-Roms are not compiled from source, they do NOT belong to Original development.
We decided to leave it here though, because it is the first MIUI Rom for this device, so in that context "original".
but it based on CM10 from Lloir...so its original

But, I come from the HOX forums and there are MIUI Roms there in the Original Section.
I don't make the rules but still I don't understand why there are now 2 development sections for each device
No, no, no... this can not be truth. I didn't want to unlock my device jet... but this MIUI rom ought me to...
Thanks!!!
Alright guys listen up. Working on fixing the home button now. Think I might have got it but gonna need a tester so pm me asap.

your rom is 4.1 based, you cant flash the latest gapps (jb 121212), which is for 4.2, it will cause at lot of problems, jb 21011 is for 4.1.X roms
I'll try this as soon as the Home button is fixed
BTW, in the third screenshot of post #1, it shows the data of a Sensation

Very nice rom, didn't use MIUI before but it look svery nice. My home button does work for me, I have a android 4.1.1 gapps.
Issue that I seem to have is that when I'm playing music and lock the screen it cracks a lot. Like if the cpu freq is to low.

EDIT: I used gapps-jb-20120726-signed.zip

I doubt the OP can fix issues like that!
Your best bet is to wait for Lloir to fix it in his ROM so the OP can grap the fix from that :good:
Speaking from experience, in ports there's not much you can do other then XML edits and swap apps here and there!

Could you clarify a question for me: My understanding is that this has not been released for our device yet; does that mean that this is put together via files for some other device and that things don't work perfectly because of that?

It's not been cobbled together from other devices, rather it's a compile from pure AOSP, using the 4.4 sources that have been released.
Google hasn't managed to fix a few issues, so they haven't released an OTA yet.

What Sleepy said. and trust me, it really does work perfectly fine. Its smooth and stable, The only thing that is not functional is the camera.
So I flashed this, it was working well enough, then I rebooted and flashed bulletproof 1.4 kernal and it seemed to have broken wifi. I'm in the process of reflashing 4.4 now
edit: wifi working again without bulletproof kernal. Is it expected that custom kernals wouldn't work? I also have that keyboad bug in the home screen that I saw people discussing in the main thread

I have Multirom and installed both Roms, DJ was the first to release a stable build for DEB and was fast and very helpful.
Then I flashed SlimKat and also watch developement, similar but a few more features.
I'll keep both and my Stock 4.3 as dayli for the moment.
so the only issue with this rom is camera and poping keyboard?

Yes, those are the only issues with this rom, and any other 4.4 rom for nexus 7 at the moment.
great job
I thank the dev and ROM for their service.
Darn.... Rear camera is the thing why 7" tablets have a purpose and of it doesn't work in this or any other, it's a show stopper. There went my wish to switch from Stock to AOSP as I can not stand anymore Google edition tweaks what Google engineers has done.

Glad you're back...and good win by the broken team :silly:
Thanks for the ROM. Fast, stable, and no issues so far :good:
Very Rarely do I get on XDA anymore, I have been using another rom for my LG original VS985 that I had to bump and then I installed Illusion rom which was a decent rom but I never had time to switch to anything else. Being that I had all dinosaur software on my phone lol I decided to update. One issue I ran into when installing this rom was that I had not installed the 23B modem and when you install this rom it will not install unless that newer modem has been flashed. Other than that small issue which I was able to resolve rather quickly. I have had no issues with this rom and it is smooth as a mother Fker. Thank you for putting out such a bad ass rom with so many options and a very clean install and bug free ROM. Like I said I never get on XDA but I made it a point after installing this rom to come give thanks and props to all that worked on this project. Its nice finally having the time to update and get new software for my phone installed.
Thanks for the kind words join our g+ community, one big happy disfunctional family

I most definitely will thanks again.
I can't get over how incredibly smooth this ROM is and the features are so extensive, the kernel running this ROM is an absolute power house. Any tweak or mod imaginable is located within this ROM. The amount of detail the devs put into this is remarkable. I still have yet to have one single bug or issue to report and will gladly continuing my updates if I can find anything to help the devs along with testing.

The ROM is súper fast ...Rock ...thsnks thanks
Awesome ROM, loving it so far. Very quick. Only "bug" I've seen so far is that it is losing my saved WiFi points on reboot...any solution for this?
