Amaze vs iPhone - HTC Amaze 4G

A friend with an iPhone saw my Amaze last night and said "OOOOH what kinda phone is that? The screen is HUGE" LOL thought I'd share to give everyone a good laugh.

Tiny screen that looks awesome, that's probably one of the best features of the iphone, its right up there with the one x. And games, don't forget the games! But that's pretty much it lol android exceeds iPhone in terms of freedom and everything

Good point, though I gotta say that if you ever saw the Xperia S, you would see the iPhone has competition screen wise, the S is better, higher pixel density and a bigger screen, so the iPhone is somewhat behind now on screen/gpu with the latest and upcoming android devices, finally lol.

Never gotten to play with a One X, but your review and that of others says it all, I did play with the Xperia S, only reason I never got one is because TMO doesn't support it's 3G band, I was thinking of getting the AT&T One x, but no bootloader unlock? Nooooo way, lol.

Sorry to be off topic here but I played with the One X (ATT version) and noticed that they weren't quad core the only thing they had going for them is the 32 GB internal Hard drive. So I did a bit of research and the international version of the One X are the ones with the quad core.

Sadly, yeah. Only the international version has a different chipset, pretty retarded if you ask me but the at&t one x seems to be a little more tweaked in a few aspects if you see a side to side comparison, though the one s seems to have it's tweaks as well, sadly.

Going from my Amaze to an iPhone/iPod Touch, i am UNABLE to type on their tiny keyboard. Another reason to tell someone else "mine's bigger than yours." Haha.

My friends just read the humor of the next Iphone having a bigger screen, like 4.1? And they were smiling like crazy. i was laughing my ass off. Lol.

I hadn't actually held an iPhone 4S until yesterday when I saw my friend's. First thing I said was, "wow, so tiny!" Guess I've gotten used to the size of the Amaze.

one thing iphone can't be beat at is its selling price. sold 2 iphones 4 16gb a year apart, and both netted about 350 each time... i just don't get it.

It's an iPhone marketing thing, they're way of trying to convince others that whatever they have is better than anything else, they never lower their prices, so resale value basically stays firm until a newer version comes out to lower it.

Yeah just saw that. Honestly, I don't like the styling changes from the Rezound to that. If only the Rezound came with NFC, then there would be absolutely no reason to envy any other device.

How is this a stupid marketing move? The Rezound is in a different class than the Inc line. The Rez is low upper tier whereas the Inc is high middle tier. The Inc 4g will have a qHD display, not the 720p of our device. The Rez successor is essentially the One XL, which VZW hasn't released a version of yet.

I wouldn't say they dropped the ball, necessarily. The Rez just had horrible timing. A month, essentially, before the most anticipated flop, I mean, device on VZW in the Gnex? Then the mighty Razr line. VZW will always push Moto devices harder than HTC because Moto plays nice and HTC doesn't (in their eyes, not for people like us). Moto keeps everything locked down and HTC is more user-friendly. I seriously doubt the Dinc 4g will be marketed any more than the Rez.
EDIT: and the red accents thing is HTC, not VZW, ie the Sensation and every other HTC device of the past year.

Interestingly enough it says on that article (taken with a grain of salt) that it has Android 4.0 with Sense 4. Interesting. If true, I wonder if it could mean that at some point Sense 4 *could* come to our rezound?
This is all about the DROID branding, therefore it'll get pushed hard, but the big thing the article doesn't mention.
Is the dual core, a Snapdragon S3 or S4?
If it's S3, we got it beat, if it's S4, this device is a bit better in terms of raw power and ability.

Motorola Phone Ban

It looks like our X2's are facing a ban tomorrow!
http://news.cnet.com/8301-1035_3-57...ing-product-ban-wont-affect-us/?tag=cnetRiver
Personally, I'm going to flaunt mine around Verizon stores and laugh at everyone when they get super jealous.

I really think this is payback and does more good than harm. All of us put together couldn't do much (read our efforts on BBB complaints) but thanks to M$, we may very well get some well needed payback... However, I am disappointed that the ban doesn't effect newer devices. It seems to be effecting only 3G devices... Is this something related to the radio technology?
I don't effing care if Motorola can never sell a single device from now on, since that is what I exactly want. What do they say, oh yeah: Payback's a *****! Hellya!

You're more than likely right. When they (Motorola) got hip to the infringement, they didn't want to invest resources towards a dying product.

I was thinking this too, but it's probably because they just did not care about us enough. The X2 was a good phone when it was launched, but it definitely did not receive the hype a phone like the Nexus or Galaxy S III got.
Cool, now if VZ would update my line with an upgrade so I can get rid of this piece once and for all! ..rather than next year :/

Humor me. I'm blinded by the switch. Things are just different all around now.
(Sorry to be off topic)
This is such a non-issue. All Motorola had to do was import enough inventory before the ban took place to cover the future demand.
Slap in the face to Moto, that Google (parent company of Moto) went to Asus to make the first Nexus tablet.............. just saying
My Droid X ear piece speaker crapped out yesterday so I called to get a replacement and they told me there are no more X's in stock which the VZ rep even said he finds that hard to believe. So instead they are sending me a Droid X2. Don't if them suddenly not having any X's in stock has anything to do with the ban since the X was also listed.

Seeking advice to buy this phone or not

Hello,
I recently switched to tmobile and am looking to buy a phone to use. I've been looking at HTC Sensation, HTC Amaze, and Galaxy S2. I was thinking to go with HTC Amaze, but I ran into many issues discussed on the net. So, here's my question. Should I buy this phone? Are the issues that bad? Or, can they be resolved by simply installing custom ROMs? I'd appreciate any advice you can give me. Thank you.
GT
I dealt with all 3 of them. GS2 is a POS. Sensation is has older harder (but better ROM development) and i love my Amaze. Does all I need it to do. You should get an Amaze.
Agreed with hasoon
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using xda app-developers app
Although I love my Amaze its getting to the point where its becoming outdated and unsupported. I would go another route. IMHO.
Depends what you are looking for...
Pros:
- Decent Specs.
- Nice camera.
- microSD.
Cons:
- Due to HTC and the lack of source ROM dev isn't as plentiful as other phones.
- Issues with the back plate not fitting right and making creaking noises.
- Larger device (thickness).
- Sense (for me at least).
- Horrible backlight bleed from the buttons.
- Lackluster battery life.
If I was to go back in time, I would have picked up a Galaxy Nexus over the Amaze.
I was choosing among those phones too (including the blaze). Chose the amaze because it's screen was way better than Samsung crappy pentile offerings and it had a dedicated camera button. Battery life is pretty mediocre even with an anker extended battery. Battery life is a huge weakness since HTC refuses to release wireless source.

The sensation is basically the Amaze except half as thick, lighter, better looking, better battery, better development, screen was great, and it was overall just awesome.
The Amaze is a huge downgrade, it's so glitchy, heavy, thick and ugly and the customization rom-wise is very weak.
If you can get the sensation for a good price I highly recommend it.
I think it was one of the revolutionary phones, and set the standard for other droids to date.
But that's just my opinion. If I had a choice I would have the Sensation right now over any phone, even the GS3.
Get an HTC One S! Or unlock and get a ONE X+

If money isn't an object he would only be wasting his time trying to buy and sell amazes because he'd have no need to increase his monetary funds smart ace

Money being no object, the Nexus 4 is the universal recommendation we can make (pentaband 3G like the Amaze). I'm assuming you're in the USA, so keep an eye next week when Verizon will reveal the Droid DNA, which looks like to be HTC's second superphone of 2012, after the One X series.

Universal recommendation? From whom? Looks like this thread says sgs3 is the closest to a universal answer to me

So... You suggest it because it's cheap, but if you read the op he says assuming money isn't a factor so.. Your argument is void
And again I say gsiii depending on hand size and comfort... HTC one s isn't bad if you want something smaller (but it's not much smaller) gsiii is solid. And if you want something bigger note 2

Nexus 4
I'd say wait for the Nexus 4. The specs are great and it's a nexus device, hence you'll get awesome development and fast updates. And the price is unbelievable. I plan on switching to Nexus 4 myself.

Why not the HTC one x+ that should be an amazing phone and probably better than sgs3 and definitely a lot more beautiful. Although sgs3 is an amazing phone software and hardware wise to me it looks ugly and again feels cheap when I held it one x+ sports better specs and keeps in mind aesthetics along with premium quality just not sure why many people aren't suggesting it and suggesting an inferior device (sgs3) especially when price is not a factor and if it was nexus 4 would be the best choice so either way sgs3 is now more hype than anything now that there are better phones on the market

No removable battery, no memory expansion, 1gb ram. And... Tegra processor? Eh. I guess that's 'better'. The s4 chip can handle anything I've used it for quite smoothly, if I was going quad core I'd go with something s4 pro. Also some people prefer to have a settings button on the phone, I know I do. Plus all the red tape from HTC rgd development and such. Good development community over at the sgs iii. You asked, I answered I've not held the one x+ granted, I was not impressed with the feel of the one s. And considering the one x+ is almost the same dimensions as the gs iii I gotta say the feel of the gs iii grows on ya haha. But anyway just my opinion.

G2 Family.

Took me 2 months but I convinced my wife and my 15 year old that the G2 was the way to go. So there are now 3 of them in our house now lol.

I have been trying to talk my wife into getting one. I need to get her away from ios since I'm her tech support. That os drives my crazy.

Ya I hate everything Apple lol. That's what my family used also until recently. It's an adjustment for them coming off ios but for the better for sure.

It's hard to convince people away from Apple and Samsung. Can't understand how people can't like the G2...although it's not perfect, it's pure amazing.

Ya only way I'll trade this out will be for the G3. Rumored 8 core processor and 3 gig ram. I'm already sold lol. Slightly larger screen also.
Just hope they refine the stock firmware.

It all comes down to marketing. Samsung did a good job in this & LG didn't. A waste that an amazing phone like this never given a chance to fight.

Ya I agree with that. But that actually makes the G2 even more of a major contender in my eyes because it's popularity is still growing regardless.
Couple that with Samsung's basically failed watch campanion promotions. And the rumored improvements to come on the G3. And I think LG has the foundation for an epic device long term. As long as they clean up the software.

Yep pretty sexy. No shiny back plate to lol. Should give the Note 3 a run for its money. Even though I think the G2 has it beat in every aspect except screen size.

Screen size is already going a little too far. Plz stop asking for bigger screens
I wish flagships stop at 5 inch screen and leave the bigger size for phablets.

I agree with that also. The screen is plenty big. If I want a bigger screen I'll just use a 7/10 inch tablet. Bigger screen on a phone just isn't practical in my opinion and intrusive in most cases.

My dad has a G Flex and my mom has a Nexus 5 so in a way we're sort of a G2 family.
But then my sister's the black sheep with a Moto X.

Have you tried out the Vutalk feature yet? It seems cool/fun but I don't know anyone else with an LG phone, unfortunately, so I can't test it out myself.
Other than the slippery back, easy-to-scratch screen, mediocre speakers, and lack of cute aftermarket cases, I LOVE the G2. The Knock On feature and battery life are so damn amazing. Every phone should implement Knock On!
I have super high expectations for the G3 after being wowed by so many of the G2's features. The "delightful discoveries" page is great!

I have had the G2 since mid December. I gave my wife my old S2 skyrocket and sold a HTC one x I used as well. She loves my g2 and how stable it is..I offered to buy her a Optimus G or G pro off eBay but I can't get her off her skyrocket. She said when she needs another phone she will for sure want a lg because of the UI.
Sent from my LG-D800 using Tapatalk
We bought G2's the day after it launched in Canada. And 1 S4 which is being used as a toy by my youngest. I have a MacBook which I love, and an iPhone 4 which I loved. I was all set on getting the entire family on iPhones by the end of last year. And then the unthinkable happened: at my daughter's request I started looking at Androids. At first I was 100% opposed. But Apple's lacklustre iPhone 5x announcement and their refusal to make a bigger screen phone sold me on Android. And now I would laugh in the face of any offer to switch back to iPhone. The G2 has been the best phone on the market since it came out.

Ya family is for sure not regretting switching from iPhone to the G2. I'm just hoping the G3 is going to live up to the rumors or exceed them. I really don't plan on switching phone brands in the future. Or is anyone in our house lol.

My last two phones were Samsung...never again. I went to get my G2 on Friday, the Verizon store was sold out and so were all the stores in the area. The sales rep ( a family friend) just ordered it online for me and should arrive Monday.
$99 for a 32 gig phone with these monster specs? Yes please!
