[TESTING] Instructions for S-OFF [TESTING] - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

*I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE THAT MAY BE DONE TO YOUR PHONE WHILE FOLLOWING THIS TUTORIAL*
*READ AND FOLLOW THESE DIRECTIONS EXACTLY OR YOU "WILL" RUN INTO PROBLEMS*
CREATING A GOLD CARD
Ok first we need to modify an sd card to make something called a gold card. Don't ask me what it is because honestly I have no idea I just know it is a necessary process in getting S-OFF.
1. Backup all files on your SD card as we will be formatting the card and you will lose all of your data.
2. Plug your phone into your computer and make sure hard disk mode is chosen. (Make sure USB debugging is turned on also)
3.Extract SimpleGoldCard_v1.zip to your desktop and start SimpleGoldCard.exe.
4. Select your SD card's drive letter in the drop down menu under "Step 1 - Format SD Card" and then select Format. If your drive letter is not showing up try pressing the refresh button next to the drop down menu.
5. Select ok when it says Format Complete then turn your phones USB Connection option to Charge Only instead of Disk Drive.
6. Next under "Step 3" select the MMC1 radio button and then click on GetCID. (It will produce a long list of jumbled numbers and letters this is your SD card ID)
7. Then select the link under "Step 4 - Request for IMG file". Copy the long ID from "Step 3" and paste it into the CID space on the web page you just opened and then fill out the captcha form and click Download to download your goldcard.img file (Save to your desktop)(the goldcard.img files are specific to individual SD Cards)
8. Close the page once you have downloaded your file and then bring back the Simple Gold Card application. Under "Step 5 - Load IMG File And Patch" select Load IMG and locate the goldcard.img file that you just downloaded and select it.
9. Put your phone back into Disk Drive mode and then click Patch MMC. Once everything is complete you should have a working gold card. (To make sure, remove your SD card and reinsert it and make sure that it still functions normally.
After your gold card has been made you need to download and unrar the DIAG Files.rar file I have uploaded. Extract the of the folder to the root of the new Gold Card you have just made. There should be two files and it should look like this when you are complete.
F:/PG76DIAG.nbh
F:/PG76DIAG.zip
*F being the letter of your removable drive whatever that may be
Before we move on to the next step we need to make sure that Fast Boot is turned off. So to do that you need to go to Settings/Power and then make sure Fast Boot is not selected.
INSTALLING THE DIAG FILES
2. Boot into HBOOT by holding Volume down while pressing the power button (you do not need to hold the power button, only hold the volume down button) The HBOOT screen will boot up and then you can let go of the Volume down button.
3. The phone will automatically scan the SD card for the files we just put on the root of the SD card and will start the update process.
4. A screen will appear that says Clean s58. Press the power button once to select clean s58 and the phone will start doing it's thing and should take about a good 20 seconds until it's finished.
6. Once the phone is off remove the SD card so that the phone doesn't install the DIAG files when we boot into HBOOT to check if we now have S-OFF.
7. Boot into HBOOT again by holding Volume down and quickly pressing the power button. The phone should boot into HBOOT and at the top of the screen it should now say S-OFF.

holding the power button for 10 seconds will reboot the phone, same as a battery pull would. Even in bootloader mode.

trying it now. Does the gold card have to be the main SD card, or can i use another one as a one time thing?

I think ill wait for a more proven method ...not trying to brick my *unicorn* phone

Thread Closed:
Seems the OP didn't make it specifically for this phone and has not tried it.
I wouldn't try this...

Stuck on BL screen, nothing seems to work!

When I turn on my phone using JUST the power button, it vibrates, and that's it. The screen doesn't turn, nor do any lights.
When I turn on the phone using the BL Screen (rainbow, POWER+Comm+Camera), it shows me:
TITA100 MFG
SPL-2.40 Olipro
CLPD-9
Then, when I plug it to my computer, it reads the device, and tells me its "WM 6.1.6965".
I want to be able to turn on my phone and let the OS boot normally, but nothing seems to work! I've tried flashing different ROMs and Radios, but they all seems to have either an "Image Error" or "They cannot find a device" on my computer.
I want to be able to use my phone, but I have no idea where to start. How did it get to this state?
I'm not sure.
PLEASE HELP ME. Much appreciated.
have you tried the sd card method. Where you rename the rom in the update called RUU_signed.nbh to TITAIMG.nbh and place it on the root of the sd card ( a fat 32 formatted non sdhc card) any small one will do as long as its big enough to hold the rom normally about 70-100mb so a 128mb or bigger card should work but nothing over 2gb card wise. All you do is put the file that you renamed onto the micro sd card then go into the boot loader screen of your phone via power+camera+reset it will briefly say serial then go to a screen prompting you to update follow what buttons to push to do the update via the on screen prompts, once done it will say update complete. It has been my best experience to take the battery out for 20-30sec when this screen comes up then replace the battery and boot via the power button. Hope this helps.
Oh I could have flamed you for not searching and provided you a link to one of the many forums on here already about the titan (ppc6800) but sometimes its just as easy to take 2 min to post what works as it is to digg up the proper forum via search results.
Thanks for the info.
However, I have searched the forums, and everyone seems to have a happy go lucky time when it comes to flashing, which would mean...that I'M not.
Nevertheless, I have tried the SD Card method, with the proper card (1 gig, FAT32, 1024), and when I put it in the Phone, it says "Loading...", then "NO IMAGE FILE!"
I don't know what's up with that. I've tried different custom and official ROMs, and each time I get that message.
put the USB earphone/ USB power plug into the phone and push the reset button
not to make you sound dumb but make sure that you put the RUU_signed.nbh file on there from the downloaded rom or official rom via looking @ the exe with winrar or similar software ... then rename it to TITAIMG.nbh and place on the card... i had similar problems but got past them via doing a full format of the sd card with these selected options 4kb sectors and fat 32 for the format and un-checking quick format once formatted that way the boot loader saw the image and i was able to flash.
I reformatted using the suggested parameters, and even so, it said "No Image File!"
I did rename the RUU.nbh file to TITAIMG.nbh, and even then.
That's why this is so frustrating for me. It makes no sense that this doesn't work.
Thanks.
i guess you need to search the forums for the program that un-bricks your phone seems that something is wrong and part of the phone is not working, however sense the computer sees the device you should be able to run one of the programs to bring it back.
on a side not try if you have one available another sd card some don't like to work with the boot loader but will still work fine with the phone as an sd card.
The file is on the card base directory and not in a folder right? If you place it in a folder it will not see it. I had to do the SD flash on my XV6800 because I screwed it up by not loading the Radio first.

HP ZEEN

There's quite alot of people out there with these that are trying to get this thing unlocked, rooted, de-bricked......... Guess what.......
Part one.....
Ok People,
This zip has three files in it named....
#BTBLOCK.BIN
#REDBOOT.BIN
.
.
and
.
.
#NORKERN.BIN
This is just to proove that I have done something with the Zeen. For all of you that dont think that it's possible.... have a look. I'm currently uploading the rest of the rom as we speak.... it's slow, dont despair, we have crap uploads here where I come from.......
The #NORKERN.BIN file was missing from the origonal post from a page I cant remember on here...... so here it it..... i'll be adding the rest as i type...
#MCCROOT.BIN
#MCCAPP.BIN
#MCCPRVT.BIN
#MMCDATA.BIN
These 4 files are big, so bare with me...
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=8XI6S4OH <------- #REDBOOT.BIN #BTBLOCK.BIN #NORKERN.BIN

I'm also going to be modifying this rom to the max, as soon as I sus out a few things..... I'm not a dev..... but I learn faster than the average bear.....
This is all possible with the help of the internet and countless webpages that gave me the tools and knowhow to do what i've done.... so I thank the people out there..... yeah, you know who you are.... (if you read this).
Great job! I am sure this would definitely help out the community!!!
I have uploaded the #MMCROOT.BIN file, so GO FOR YOUR LIFE!!!!.
Cheers.
Sorry for the bump on this old thread. I was wondering if you had the #MCCAPP.bin file. I saw you named it but never uploaded it. Could you please share this? Thanks.
hey lynxdog thanks for this
will try do it following these instructions from dennis_angelo: Step 1
1) Insert the SD card into the PC card reader. If any files exist on SD card, delete them.
2) Copy the “#BTBLOCK.BIN” file to the root of the SD card.
3) Insert the SD card into the Zeen SD card slot. (The Zeen should be powered off, if it isn’t do that now.)
4) Locate the 2 square buttons next to each other on the back side of the Zeen (volume controls)
5) Press and hold those 2 buttons.
6) Press the power button (located on the back side of Zeen on the same edge as the headphone jack) once while still holding the 2 buttons.
7) Observe the screen: Once a loading bar appears release the 2 buttons.
8) Once the loading bar completes turn off the Zeen unit.
Step 2
1) Insert the SD card into the PC card reader. If any files exist on SD card, delete them.
2) Copy the “#REDBOOT.BIN” file to the root of the SD card.
3) Insert the SD card into the Zeen SD card slot. (The Zeen should be powered off, if it isn’t do that now.)
4) Locate the 2 square buttons next to each other on the back side of the Zemea
Step 3 (I don't have the following files but I pressumed these are the android kernel)
1) Insert the SD card into the PC card reader. If any files exist on SD card, delete them.
2) Copy “#MMCAPP.BIN”, “#MMCROOT.BIN”, “#NORKERN.BIN” files to the root of the SD card.
3) Insert the SD card into the Zeen SD card slot. (The Zeen should be powered off, if it isn’t do that now.)
4) Locate the 2 square buttons next to each other on the back side of the Zeen:
5) Press and hold those 2 buttons.
6) Press the power button (located on the back side of Zeen on the same edge as the headphone jack) once while still holding the 2 buttons.
7) Observe the screen: Once a loading bar appears release the 2 buttons. 3 loading bars will appear this time one after the other. The first loading bar will take a minute after completing before the 2nd and then 3rd loading bars appear. Please wait until all three loading bars complete and an onscreen message will then ask you to remove the SD card and power down the unit.
8) Finally, press the power button once and allow Zeen to boot fully. The unit should start in OUT OF BOX EXPERIENCE (OOBE) mode. So it should be asking for your location and language
please someone post MMCAPP.BIN file
thanks
#MMCAPP.BIN
Has anyone figured out where this elusive #MMCAPP.BIN can be found. Apparently it is needed to run the apps once you've done all the other steps. I did everything but my apps tab no longer works on the zeen. Everytime I hit it I get a message 'Application not installed on your Zeen". Does anyone have a fix to take it back? I've done the factory reset and it still comes up the same.
I have no way of accessing the apk's on the SD card now.
***UPDATE*** I installed launcher pro and a z4root and eas file manager and eas task manager and have been able to get to all the apk's and all files on the SD card and have only run into maybe 5 apk's that wouldn't function once installed the rest work great. I also installed 'awesome drop' which allows me to get files to the zeen without the use of the USB cable. However this comes after using the prescribed steps in the above posting which has totally screwed my Zeen. The #mmcapp.bin is a much needed file and until somebody posts it, I DO NOT RECOMMEND USING THE ABOVE STEPS. They wipe your zeen clear of any access to your printer apps which is now my BIG problem. I am begging anyone who may own a factory back-up of the zeen to post it or make me an offer to buy it from you. I have no access to my eFax app or any of my HP apps since the method above screwed my zeen, hence screwed me. You should not be posting this crap if you do not have all the files needed.
Mentioned apps are attached to make your life easier than this was for me.
Anyone looking to root this thing, stick with Z4Root, Launcher Pro and take it from there. I have tons of apps on my Zeen and am using it soley as a tablet now because the brainiacs with the above postings gave us all such bad advice by not posting the #mmcapp.bin file with these instructions..
I have Googled all over the place looking for a factory rom for the zeen and am having no luck. A factory reset is not the answer because one of the bin files in the above steps wipes access to everything once you have it 'redhacked' and I have been unable to undo whatever the redboot.bin file has done. A full factory reset just brings me back to setup, but the zeen still boots showing 'redhacked' and once it is up and operational the apps tab no longer works. Even with launcher pro there are still no HP apps for printing, scanning or eFax. It turned what was already a disappointing purchase into a paperweight.
Thanks in advance

[Q] Gtablet Will not turn on after downgrade.

I just bought a Viewsonic Gtablet. I was stupid and for some reason i thought i needed to downgrade from 1.2 firmware to 1.1 firmware (it was a old post) Well I replaced the updated.zip file then went into recovery mode and installed the update.zip using the internal memory. After that it turned off and now will not turn back on or go into recovery mode!
Things I've tried:
When i tried NVFlash my computer did not recognize that it was in apx mode, but instead said it was a unknown device so when i tried to install the apx driver It said "the wizard could not find a better match for your hardware other than the software you currently have installed"
2nd thing i tried was this that i read from a forum.
Download the above mentioned restore file.
Insert the SD card into the card reader and access it using your computer.
If the SD card has any important data, save it to the computer.
Format the SD card.
Unzip the downloaded file and extract the ‘Recovery’ folder and ‘update.zip’ file to the root of your SD card.
Power off your device.
Press and hold the Volume Up button, then press and hold the Power button. You should see the ViewSonic boot image logo and the text ‘Detected Recovery Image’ on your tablet’s screen.
Let the installation take place automatically. The device will reboot after completion. This did not work at all.
Please help idk what to do!

[Q] Samsung T679 - So I'm not even sure what to do about a possible bricked phone

So I may have bricked my phone because yes, I am an idiot.
Here's how I bricked it:
Pre-stuff: I downloaded ROM Manager on my newly rooted phone and installed Clockwork Recovery. My device wasn't supported, so I had to use one of the "Other models" options and it installed fine from the looks of it.
1. I was going to flash it to Xquizit 6.1, so I put the Superwipe and the rom itself on the phone's internal memory.
2. I went into recovery. I was given 4 options;
reboot system now
apply update from sdcard
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
install fota
3. I went to apply update from sdcard and was told to use the Superwipe. Well me not reading it correctly, apparently this was supposed to be done via an external SD card. Not the internal memory. So basically I'm assuming it got rid of every single trace of the actual operating system.
4. Mistake #2: I misread the Superwipe instructions thinking it already made a Nandroid backup for me (I have no idea what that is or how to make one) so I figured I was fine.
5. Now when my phone boots up without me pressing extra buttons, it goes to the Samsung splash screen and then the Exhibit II 4G splash screen for a long period of time before turning off, restarting, and doing it over again.
6. I was told that I should have used an external SD card, so I went out and bought a micro SD card + a USB card reader so I could put files on it. I put the Xquizit 6.1 rom on the micro SD card, but low and behold, I go into recovery and go into my file tree, find external_sd only to see that the only folder on said external_sd was an empty DCIM folder...
So heres some basic info:
When I hold Up + Power button, it will boot into the same recovery. I get 4 options, as mentioned above. No option to mount the SD card, no place to view the contents of the SD card. None of the options are any use to me right now except "apply update from sdcard". One problem though, since (I think) it's the internal memory, when I go to try and flash my rom through there I get an error:
Code:
-- Install /sdcard ...
E: Short write of /tmp/sideload/package.zip (No s
pace left on device)
Installation aborted.
When I hold Down + Power button, it takes me to a warning screen that says "A custom OS can cause critical problems in a phone and installed applications. If you want to download a custom OS, please press the volume up key. Otherwise, press the volume down key to cancel." When I press volume up, it takes me to a screen that says Odin Mode, has a lil bit of info in the upper right, and has the Android logo along with "Downloading... do not turn off target!!"
Except I left it on this all night and it didn't do anything...(probably a noob thing to say).
When I hold Up AND Down + Power button, it takes me to the ramdump screen.
So far from all my Googling I can't seem to find people who have had the same issues as me. Any idea on what I can do? Much thanks in advance.

Extra note 3 stuck at recovery booting!

I have an extra note 3 phone and when I plug it in and hold the power button down it comes on but only shows the Samsung screen in silver with the words up top left recovery booting..... In blue letters And then it will go black. And if I push the power, home and volume up or down instead of going into recovery or download mode it just vibrates and shows the Samsung in silver and recovery booting.... In blue and then goes black again every once and a while I can get it to make a sound like I took a screen shot. but it just gets hot until the battlery dies. So I wish I could fix it and sell it but I don't know what else to do so any help would be appreciated.
I think it's a timing thing. As soon as you feel that vibration press volume down and home key. Try it a couple of times. It happened to be once.
No I've tried that I'm good about the whole timing thing to get in to either mode. So not sure still I saw a thread on an unbrick image that you can put on an sd card and it boots from that but I have no clue on how it is done.

True there is a thread on that, but you have to be able to get into recovery, stock or custom so that you can toggle to the sd card. So just to be clear, you are holding down the power button, volume down button, and the home button at same time under constant pressure until a screen with a yellow triangle comes up asking if you want to go to download mode by pushing the volume up button or reboot the device by pushing the volume button down.
BTW here is a way to do it without toggling to your sd card. Here is the link for a SM-N900P unbrick img. for your sd card http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2651696&page=2 go to post #19 and download the file to your PC desktop, remove the sd card from your device and install in the adapter that allows it be installed in your PC. (black plastic adapter that comes with ext sd card) First, backup all data on sd card to PC. Format/erase your SD Card, then copy and paste .img file to sd card, install back in phone and boot up device. Once phone is booted, and settled down a minute power down device. Pull sd card, boot phone into download mode and use odin to flash a fresh copy of NC5 on phone. install sd card back in PC and format/erase it, now install back in device and all is back to normal.
Got the info from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2600869 but you don't have to create the boot img file someone already did it in the link above on post #19.
Thanks for this. But no I can't get in recovery or download mode. So can I still do it if I can't get in download mode? Also I need to buy another sd card to use I don't want to use the one in my current phone. And the only other one I have is a 2gb sd. Also I have formatted a sd card once before to fat32 but I have forgotten how to do the formatting. How big of an sd card do I need?
Ok so I read the links and it seems I need a 16 or 32 gb sd card and I can just format the sd card on my current working phone in setting/ more storage. Hope fully this will work thanks so much for the help.

Ok, but you are talking about a ext sd card in your working device, right? If so just copy the entire sd card via your usb cable to a file on the desktop of your PC. Then format/erase the sd card and copy the SM-N900P unbrick img file to the sdcard and install in the bricked device and boot it up. Then Odin the stock NC5 through download mode and once it is up and running, erase the sdcard via usb cable to PC. Put the sd card in the other device and copy the files back from desktop file, and all should be ready to go.
Before you do all this. Try booting to download mode. If you can get to download mode you can push a recovery image again via Odin. That would fix issue or even flash nc5 tar to go back to factory
Sent From My 0x1 Note 3.i love tep....
Thanks
Thanks Jimzweb I will try that! And no Kaos I cant get into download mode!
