most popular ROMs just don't work - Motorola Droid RAZR

My UK version phone.
GSM patch doesn't (?) help.
Always bootloop or stack at "Welcome to Motorola" after 'four-corners-trick'.
Always have to flash factory with only working rescue from Zergrush.

What's your based Rom (2.3.5 or 2.3.6)?
You use Bootstrap?
What wipes did you set in CWM, before you install an Rom?
What Roms have you tried till now?

Are you flashing "For GSM only!!11!" ROMS?
I don't think CDMA ROMS work on a GSM phone, unless you're on ICS leak. Then they're global.

I am now building a GSM Patch for the leak based roms. I already could boot successfully the Black Widoe ICS Leak on the GSM retail leak. Still editing the patch to make it work.

My base is 2.3.6 and I use bootstrap.

I have a razr from uk. I have this probleme too. You need change your rom 2.3.6 to firmware .20
Just use button search to find before open a new thread

I don't have to apply any GSM patch and I'm running the cm9 variant and it works well enough for me. And no motorola bloatware. Loving some ics. Not long till our official upgrade.

you don't need the gsm patch because you are running the cm9 from j.y.daddy, which IS GSM version. Or you have a cdma device and in that case you don't need a patch. And the othet thing is, that you are probably using the GB-based cm9. I am building a patch for the LEAK-BASED ICS CDMA custom roms to make it work on GSM devices.

If you want us to help please post which rom you want to run. the only one which really needs the 4-corner-trick to set up on GSM is eclipse. most problems are already reported in the roms threads. So I really don't think that you would only get useless results if you would do serious research.
And if you get the same issue on every Rom you try, read the instructions again carefully, then you will find a solution. Otherwise tell us exactly what doesn't work.

[Q] ICS Leak 'Upgrade' possible?

Hey guys,
i've a question and i think this one is very important...
There are several ICS leaks out there and evereyone of them seems to be based on another ICS kernel version...
My question is:
After i've installed any of that leaks, will i be able to flash the hopefully soon arriving OFFICIAL 'Q2'-ICS (Retail) Upgrade?
i'll flash the leak posted by Spryte.

If you uprade to "my" ICS leak and still have root, you can look for updates via cheesecake, which should bring you directly onto the upgrade path again (I don't have root any more, so I have to wait)

This is for CDMA only 'cause tread starter said that it should be installed only via Safestrap, whilest GSM RAZRs have Bootstrap instead. Safestrap is only for CDMA XT912, don't even try to flash this ROM! BTW there's at least one person from Russia who has bricked his GSM XT910 by flashing this stuff.
You can't really brick an Device with an locked Bootloader
Just charge your battery and have your Fastboot Files and RSD ready!
But maybe GSM could try it with the Frasertag GSM Patch for Eclipse (GB).
If I wouldn't stuck on an Leak I would already have give it an try

Could you please describe the way you have put Motorola services in this ROM? I think other great ROMs such as MIUI and Gummy should have these services working, especially Motocast and camera related software.
@HSD-Pilot
Good morning, friend!
In fact we have no extra details regarding that person's steps but anyhow - I've just warned all who isn't attentive enough.
Rom running fast and rock solid. Thanks for doing this sir. Is there any way to remove the quick settings from the pull down menu in the theme? I'm odd in that I like that area of the pulldoen clean Anyway thanks again for the rom.

[Q] Restore CID?

Hey guy
I wanna know is there any way to restore my CID from AP fastboot, without root permission?
My (GSM) device bricked after OTA, and only the o2 JB fastboot from RSD lite bring it back to life.
But my cid is deleted.. And i wanna restore it to boot up normally and able to use USB mass storage..
Any solution?
Regards,
If i remember right, you got an Latam Razr (AmericanMovil)?
You're currently running an EU Rom, so you can't restore your Cid. You have to wait for an Latam JB Version.

[Q] Kernel, ROMs and bootloader

I used to have a SE Xperia X8 in the past.
When I started unlocking it I found out that in order to flash a ROM, you sould be rooted, same here with my xt910.
Although in order to flash a kernel you sould have first unlocked your bootloader. The kernel flashing was done with a PC program (.exe) called Flashtool. (You could also change the baseband version using flashtool, which I don't know what it is...)
So, how does it work with xt910?? I've red something about CID, which again, I don't even know what it is ( ), and nothing about bootloader or something.
I would really need some help here!
Thanks!
This device's bootloader hasn't been unlocked yet. And probably never will, if you are looking to flash Roms install safestrap or bootmenumanager, and then read the OPs that should do, you can check some vídeo tutorials at youtube also...

And what about kernels? They are all flashed via recovery?? What a "kexec" is? A kernel, right?
Every kexec ROM brings their own kernel. Kexec bypasses the bootloader lock and loads the kernel con top of the stock one, the only kernel you can flash in recovery is jbx, bit you have to install a kexec ROM first... Check the tutorials con youtube, they are very good...

Check the dev section. There you can find my JBX-Keenwl. It currently works only with 4.2.2 roms. But I am working on 4.3 now.

Thanks a lot!
Two last questions:
1) If I flash jbx, then can I normally run the stock 4.0.4 rom from ss? And if not, is there any way to get to my previous kernel?
2) What CID is all about??

see he re for how to BMM (which you can flash kernels/basebands and more)
CID is a customer ID for keeping you to flash a firmware form other region
With BMM you can backup, erase and restore your CID

There is NO need to play with the CID anymore! But if you think you have to do it anyways, please keep multiple backups of your CID on save place (computer, USB stick...).
Without the backup you will be stuck with bmm/bp tools boot which busts your warranty for sure.
