[Q] Signal Strength dBm. What are you getting? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

What kind of signal strength are you guys getting on your S3's?
Settings > About Device > Status > Signal Strength
Mine is typically between -100 dBm and -105 dBm (5-7 asu) which is terrible. To put it in perspective, my HOX is typically -84 to -89 dBm (11-13) asu in exactly the same spot..
Both SIM's are on Telstra Next G. My S3 drops out in areas my HOX does not, and people are having trouble hearing me on the phone. I hear about it nearly every phone call I make.
Could people please post their signal strengths? Trying to work out what the average is and if I have a dud handset.
Thanks for contributing!

Mine is varying from -83dBm to -91dBm (11-14asu)
My SGS1 (on 2100MHz) varies between -97dBm and -105dBm (5-8asu) - both devices are on Telstra.
I hope this helps you.
btw, it's probably worth putting in the thread title 'Australia', or something similar, as O/S results probably wouldn't be all that useful.

Thanks any information here is helpful, it's really going to take a few responses to see what people have (e.g. at home, at work) in other words places you frequent often, and to post results.
Regardless of where you are in the world, I'm quite sure that readings of around -100dBM is bad news. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
I'm stumbling across more and more people now who are having reception issues, and also quite a deal who reckon the S3 has the best reception they've ever had. So it would be nice to be able to help the people who are having issues.

Signal Stength: -85dBm to -93dBm (10-14asu)
Im located in the middle of sweden, guess im pretty close to a transmitter...

Mine is 103dbm(5),just like yours. But am at work, and the network is terrible in here anyway. All try when outside.

That's still pretty close to high figures! Although anything in the 80's is reported as 4/4 bars. As long as you're not getting 100 you should be good

It's the opposite for me. Better and work and bad at home.
At work today in the city, I was getting as good as 53dBm. I also had my handset swapped over today, but I got the good reading before that happened. New handset is identical in performance, so I'm thinking that it's not a case of faulty hardware.
Thanks for the replies guys. I have a theory on whats happening. From what I'm seeing, the strength is good in good areas. However, I think that any areas where the signal is weak, the S3 is performing worse than all other phones I've tried.
It's like the radio is set to a constant power output, and does not use more battery to increase the signal strength in areas where signal is weak, instead the S3 will choose to lose the connection altogether.
In terms of a solution, perhaps a modified radio ROM can allow us to increase the power when needed (hoping!), or then again perhaps the Samsung radio is already at full power and we cannot increase it anymore... Hopefully some enterprising hacker here on XDA can let us know

I haven't really had to many issues with reception. This screen cap was taken on the lower lower level of my house which is partially underground.
Edit: I have noticed that this value fluctuates from -97 to -101 when I'm standing in the same area.

Try switching to LE6 modem and report your findings.

Thanks for the suggestion AndreiLux, I'll give that a go. p.s. Good to hear you're developing a kernel for the S3. Hope you get your phone real soon!
EDIT: Actually looks like I'm already running LE6 based on the last 3 digits of my baseband...

My baseband is I9300TDULE6. What's yours?

Similar issue with S3 while S2, HOX and Desire operating ok at same location.
S3 was initially ok for a couple of days, or I didn't notice a problem. Installed CWM and Chainfire root and all was ok. Noticed snag about a day later. Thought I'd flash omega V3.0 but didn't realise it's actually the same radio at time (LEF). Nil difference dbm still 105-111.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium

You must be almost dropping out at that level? Damn. Well as I've eluded to, I've seen it the same or better than the HOX in areas where there is strong signal, but worse when the signal is weaker. So maybe that says its not a problem with the antenna and something that can be fixed with some tweaking.
Hopefully we can somehow increase the power of the radio when the signal is weaker. It's a shame as I think this phone is pretty much perfect apart from that! Hopefully Sammy can fix it with an update or someone can hack the Radio...

Where can I grab different modems? Can I flash them through recovery or do I need a custom kernel with cwm installed?
My current phone signal is almost always dropping... I thought it was Vodafone, but this thread indicates it may be phone related!?

Radio drop out
Ye I'd agree, other than this rather irritating snag the phone is good. I've just flashed I900XXLE8 out of idle curiousity to see if the radio improved. Regrettably still only -105dBm - 4asu, so it's still dropping out and I obviousley lost root.
Also I've now got 2 counts in download which is annoying.
Hopefully Chainfire don't take Sundays off, like some gods do, and sorts the counter. As you say if there's a radio genius out there who can improve on the stock that would also be awesome.

Check the dev thread, I think it's been released.
I found my default xxlef modem and dale8 modem where best and equal to each other in strength, others left me with no signal (not that I seem to get much anyway).
Visit to CPW tomorrow to see if I can go to O2!
Sent from my GT-I9300 using XDA

LE8 seems like the latest release, I'm going to try it out tonight and see what happens.
I'm just going by the date they've been released here, although not sure that's definitive enough. Logically I would have thought LEF would be the latest/newest.
http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/

Radio drop out
Funny old thing, I tried them all last night..yawn. LE8 came out best and I've used it all day today. However at best -97/8 and at worst the no entry sign.
So it appears to be the best of the lot but the phone is of limited use.
I intend to return to stock, clear the counter and pay CPW a visit tomorrow.
I can see the same thing happening here as the HOX which came with a usless camera. Gave it to my son and then 1.28 was released and the issues were solved, would he give me the phone back..lol!
I'd willingly buy any Dev 2 beers for a radio that works properly!

I too have been having this issue but I think I have narrowed it down to the GSM/WCDMA Auto Mode because now as I have switched to GSM Only I am getting as good as -77 dBm 17 asu, but if I go back to auto mode then I drop down to -93 dBm 10 asu (in the same seat).
From what I can tell Orange provides good 3G signal in my area (my previous Galaxy Nexus was a testament to that as I never had an issue) so is it possible that the auto mode is rubbish or could it be a case that the radio isn't good at picking up a 3G signal? Either way untilnI hear more I will have to stick on GSM.
I have emailed Samsung so if I get anything useful back then I will post it up here.

Cannot post attachments yet (I think) and on iPad...
But getting -77 to -83 (18 to 15asu)
Mobile network type HSDPA:9 and HSPAP:15
Not sure where to find the Modem Info (guess it is Baseband: I9300XXLE8)?

My Prime Radio Tests with Serial & Pics

Thought I'd share my tests for bandwidth, bluetooth and GPS using them with various test scenarios and comparisons.
Background info: I bought the Prime last week at Best Buy. I pretty much pulled it out of the box and ran all the OTA updates, so I have ICS and it's got the latest updates. Not rooted.
Serial: BCOKAS11**** (Gray, 32 GB)
Network: Ran the test at my house. I'm probably hitting my upload bandwidth on all the tests, so it may not be the best test for upload bandwidth. My average bandwidth on a computer is about 11.8 mbps down, 1.7 mbps up. I only run G Wifi at my house. I have an older N router, but it slows down my network overall... so I have it disabled.
The Speed test image below are the following scenarios (pictured from top to bottom):
- Wifi, GPS, bluetooth earpiece paired using Google Music
- Wifi, bluetooth earpiece paired using Google Music
- Wifi, GPS, bluetooth on
- Wifi and GPS

As you can see, BT streaming kills about half of the bandwidth from wifi. This isn't great, but I can live with that.
Next test are for GPS. Sorry the pics are so big, I'll try to fix that later. These were done outside my house in a Michigan suburb with GPS Test and are picture in the following order (you can tell by the icons in the dock):
- All Radios on, connected to my Wifi network, Bluetooth using Google Music
- Wifi on connected to network and GPS on
- GPS only on
It took less than a minute to start picking up satellites, but no where near as fast as my phone. I am not too familiar with these read-outs.
I'm clearly picking up some GPS satellites outside. I seemed to be able to get some signal in my house.
Overall, I pretty happy with the tablet. It does have a few bugs that could be related to ICS like the slow browser issue and some FCs. I don't have any light bleeding, but my eye aren't that great either. I was really worried about this thing after everything I've read on here, but I think I must have got the keeper model.
I'm new to xda, so throw me a 'thanks' if this helps you! Thanks!

Can you see them now? It blew up the ones of the GPS screens after I did that. They weren't that big originally. Thanks for pointing it out.
I have the same tablet 32gb grey and mine is also BCOKAS11XXXX like yours.
Mine is perfect except wifi the wifi/bt issue.
So this batch is good , and mine confirms that the wifi/bt problem is hw related.
I'm afraid no firmware update will solve that, but I still hope.

Very weak signal compared to other devices, and this has come up a million times, yes it works. Yes it has a very weak signal.

Well yes, I agree it is working and usable for lets say photo tagging (in open air) or something but for example driving it most of the time will not work. But still it looks like you're lucky with your unit!

Can you tell me what the giant '0' is for on the GPS Test app? One test I ran had a '2'.
But yes, you definitely have more strength. I'm not implying its an amazing GPS device... but it's functional. It got my position to around 50 ft from every test according to the app.
Can we do some runs with WiFi please on a new C1 prime? I'd like to see a 250MB file transfer on a 2.5GHz N router connected to a ethernet wired PC and the transfer speeds associated with that transfer from various distanced.
I think what is happening is that people are reporting good Wifi using Speedtest because their DSL/Cable only goes as high as ~15mbps
For example, when I had both of my primes, my wifi was AWESOME with regards to Speedtests because my DSL line with verizon was only 7.1mbps down/768kbps up.
I never checked the LAN speed which would have accurately tested the maximum capability of my route/prime.
Who can help?

Well, I only pay for 12 Mbps down at my house. And that's still faster than any free wifi I would be connecting to anywhere (or my phone). I could test at a friend's apartment... I think he gets around 35 down and 6 up on an N router. He has the fastest internet out of the people I know. Providers are kinda limited / expensive in Michigan because they are different in each city.
If I stop at his apartment this weekend, I'll take my Prime.

Ha. I have the same phone. I will probably test it out later today out of curiosity... better comparison to test in the same location I did the Prime.
P.S. I'm rooted using the DarkForest ICS Sensation ROM... Version 5.1 flys and the hotspot functionality works.

Business user's complaining of GPS...

Why did you buy a tablet without 3g that has a large emphasis on gaming and runs on android?
In order to properly use this in the feild or at a job, you'd probably need a 4g hotspot anyway, and as far as I understand aGPS works fine on the tf prime.
I am trying to envision a situation where an important business man on xda-developers needs his gps always but not internet access. Surely he wouldn't need it for driving to the office every morning.
The only job I can think of is a pizza delivery driver. And even then a delivery driver should know how to navigate in his area, perhaps not street numbers, but not usually a huge deal that you need to whip out the gps for.
So is xda full of angry dominos employees? The best plan in my opinion is to buy a clearwire 4g hotspot or something similar if you have a job that demands it. It's cheaper than a data plan would be on at&t or verizon, you get better battery, you get higher speeds, and its makes your tablet more useful. Even with the 3g/LTE transformer coming this year, 3g is very slow, and LTE is usually very expensive and battery demanding. A 4g hotspot would still be the best option, not just for your transformer - but ALL your devices.
I see your point but its a funny post. you might of opened a can of worms here..lol. you might want to re-word what you wrote. expect some harsh responses to come with several reasons to add to your pizza delivery scenario.
You're funny.
Search and Rescue, hasty search. Large screen, viewable outdoors, cached maps and/or tethered to phone and a battery that lasts all day. iPad worked, but was really hard to see in daylight.

Let me know when you find someone who has very well working aGPS Prime. Because, as far as I know.. those who are tethering smartphone to PRIME is using Bluetooth GPS... which means, they are using the GPS from their smartphone.. not the PRIME.
Don't even feel like describing GPS, aGPS, & GEO-Location.....
And you probably want to delete/edit out the rest of your statement...

So unless I want my geo-tagging to be 36 - 138 feet off, it does not even work for location!
And I've had my Prime apart, with an external antenna I get 16-18 birds in view with 15 in use.
I'll mod, but damn do I empathize with all those who just want to buy a device and the damn thing work like it was advertised to.

I took your post to read that the ATP GPS reception signal strength would be affected by having your WiFi turned on. The 'WiFi' portion of
(a)ssisted GPS simply tells the GPS processor which satellites should be overhead in the 'general' area location determined by WiFi location. After that point the GPS is completely on it's own to determine which satellites it should be paying attention too (via info in the GPS signal stream). If there is no WiFi to (a)ssist the GPS processor, it finds out which satellites are overhead and keeps track of the ever-changing 12 satellites that it could possibly 'see'... all by itself-as does every other GPS does without the benefit of WiFi assistance. The 'WiFi' part of the equation simply speeds the initial acquisition of satellite signal. You can repeat your test on your ATP with WiFi turned off (test from ATP being completely powered off)...other than the ATP taking longer to acquire satellite signals, you'll find no difference in signal strength--your test may have different signal strengths due to different weather, different satellites, and different satellite locations--all of which are BIG variables in the level of signal reception.
Why Asus decided that a 'fix' to the ATP's GPS issues was to tie WiFi engagement to the GPS being activated was not a 'fix' in the least.
Cliffs:
Wifi 'assist' gives the GPS 'coarse' location info at beginning of signal acquisition.
Never set the sarcasm aside; we all need more!

Huh? In the end.. all you did was... "yes buxtahuda, Prime's GPS sucks... "
And basically went over.. you can't have aGPS without GPS to begin with...
Yeah, lol.
I guess let me expand.
The phone locked on in airplane mode in two seconds. I could see 2 satellites under a metal roof.
Same day as the phone, just a bit after. This took three minutes... This does not change too much with WiFi on, cuts it down a bit above half.
On a side note, not only did .15 introduce my first random reboot. It is now giving me my very first graphical glitches on the OS level.. How lovely

Actually ATP has one of the newest GPS reception chips out there, has both US and Russian GPS satellite reception, and reading through Erusmans (sp?) modifications, proves that with a decent antenna design the thing does VERY well. And my point was valid that WiFi on or off GPS signal strength is the same--Buxtahuda said that his ATP prime with WiFi on was weaker in comparison to his phone with WiFi off (airplane mode)--my point was there was no meaning in the WiFi component. There are different forms of what is referred to as aGPS... more marketing malarky, but yes, in marketing terms, you can have aGPS without GPS--as Asus proved, if it isn't marketed as a device with GPS, there is no problem with that functionality being completely neutered by having a beautiful back cover plate.

I simply don't understand that argument.
It almost sounds like (and I am probably wrong here) but you really have an issue with the poor GPS even though its something you'd never use on your Prime.
I have poor GPS. I couldn't care less if the box it came in had "world's best GPS device" in huge letters. I neither want, need or care for GPS on a tablet.
But perhaps you do need GPS for some reason - business navigation maybe? Do you not have GPS and navigation on your phone or tomtom?
Oh and technically nowhere did it ever say "fully functioning GPS". It states GPS, and that's what its got. But I'm just being picky.

No, IMO you're being kind of a callous douche (pardon me).
That doesn't make everything OK, just because you're OK and can rationalize away full functionality.
I've stated it before, there's kind of an expected function for all these. That is, even though mileage will most definitely vary, any Android device I pick up should act relatively the same. If one says GPS and can locate and navigate, and then many others also do it and list the spec similarly, then why should this one be allowed to perform so far below par. I mean, on the best day location still thinks I'm somewhere I'm not, and I don't even bother with navigation because the few locks will quickly vanish.
Don't say you have a new TV and then show me a 50" CRT that takes up a cubic meter.

Toggle for LTE/HSPA for note?

I know some Verizon phones have this, but does anyone know how to disable LTE and force hspa on our note? Just would be a serious boost for battery life when LTE isn't needed.

Saurom ROM has that capability. You'll need to root and flash a ROM to get this afaik. I'm on Saurom 7.0 and it's functional.

Thanks for the reply. Was hoping i didnt need to root/flash atm. Do you notice battery life improvements with this mod?

Personally, I don't ever turn off LTE considering that the way it's supposed to work is that while in a non LTE market, it defaults to HSPA+ anyway. And I've read that the lack of LTE doesn't interfere with battery life. Maybe I'll try for a day and see.

Yeah mine does drop to hspa inside some buildings but LTE blankets my entire county and surrounding ones. Basically I was just curious if forcing it to use hspa would conserve battery (in theory, it should). I'm surprised there aren't more threads addressing this.

I'd like to figure this out too. I was using my Note with my old S2 sim card for a couple months (bought the Note used), and didn't know there was an upgraded SIM card for LTE users. Since upgrading to the LTE Sim chip, my signal bars are around 50% signal strength and I think it is the culprit to draining my battery so quickly. When I used the HSPA+ chip I always had full signal strength.
Are there any mods anyone knows of or ways to update any custom rom? I'm currently trying out the BlackStar ICS Rom.
Thanks!
Canadian ROMs have the Network Mode menu in settings. I don't believe it comes from the Radio so it must come from the settings.apk. Here is the settings.apk from the Rogers ICS ROM and it is already deodexed. Do a nand backup. Then copy this file to your system/app folder overwriting the one included in the ROM. Fix permissions and reboot your phone. You should then have the Network Mode menu in your settings. Let me know if it works.
I'm pulling the trigger now. . .
I'll let you know infive if it worked, ten if it didn't.
This could be GREAT!

Please do. I suspected this would work for some time now. When I installed the KOB4LT mod awhile back it installed the settings.apk from the GSII and it worked fine except there was no settings for the s-pen. Should work on any of the ICS NOTE stock deodexed ROMs. And if your stock ROM is not deodexed just delete or rename both the settings.apk and the settings.odex too
This would be interesting. Definitely helpful since so many reviews said LTE kills battery faster than 3G.
This is why I went with the Rogers stock ROM instead of the ATT version. Network Mode, HotSpot allowed, and no carrier ID on notification bar.
Daaarn!

Ok rogers modem and settings.apk onboard.
No toggle (crap)
No sounds (startup, system, notifications, music player, browser)
Any adjustment to a system setting freezes phone for 15 seconds
Laggy
Good modem (signal strength, fast wifi)
There is good news. You are on the right track. I can *#2263# and get:
So this modem gives the band selection option (you already know that). But I haven't seen that menu in months!
I'm going to put back my original settings.apk.
turn off lte att note
i came across this thread as im looking for a desktop widget to turn lte off on my att note 3.
theres a few reasons for this. I hadnt thought about battery life until i read this but it cant help but increase battery life. this is because lte and hsm are two different radios. the gsm will always be on to controll the phone and sms functions and i believe the mms functions.
but simply here in the bay are most areas hspap seems to be faster.
lte upload is always faster and it penetrates buildings better. but i switch back and forth and do tests all the time.
this is a very urban area and hspap seems to have 5 bars a lot more than lte.
7.1
ill do a random test for you from where im typing this.
hspap 7.13 down 1.10 up. 5 bars. lte 4.12 down 3.76 up. 3 bars.
and as soon as i get to two bars lte seems to throttle below 1 down and stays at 3 up.
whereas hspap never goes below 6 down until its lost reception.
so anyhow i switch between the two without a rom by doing this
*#*#4636#*#*
device then i change the radio from lte/gsm auto to gsm auto.
that works immediately
now all that im lacking is a simpler one click way to change the setting.

I'm so fed up with my wi-fi not working I'm about to throw my phone across the room

As much as I love this phone I'm really starting to hate it. When I first got the phone I had problems with the wi-fi dropping and when you wake the phone it would come back on along with the awful multi-tasking recent apps. After the OTA it doesn't seem to do that anymore.
Now what it does it will show my wi-fi is connected full strength but I go to use the browser, an app, play store whatever and nothing. Just sits there forever no internet connection. I have to toggle wi-fi on and off for it to work again. I use wi-fi all day at work & while I'm home obviously so this issue affects me a lot. The router is a WRT54GL running Tomato which I have been running for years it's been ROCK SOLID on all my devices (including evo3D, original evo, laptop, etc) I just recently rooted and am running Stock With Goodies part of my reason for rooting I thought the wi-fi would maybe have been fixed but same issue on this rom as well.
It's so frustrating to pick up your phone to do something and have zero connectivity so you have to restart your app your trying to use cause it gets errors. I have tried everything I can think of, setting it to 2.4 only, high performance, changing channels on the router (again other devices work perfect). I don't know what to do about it anymore, I could bring it in to Sprint which I will absolutely not bring to them unless absolute less resort usually I know more then them anyway. They are just gonna tell me it works fine and give the phone back so I came here looking for some advice. Not really sure where to go from here but I can't stand having the phone like this. Does anyone have the same issue as me or is it possible my radio is bad? Speed are signal levels are just fine when it's working. Also it seems the longer the phone sits in sleep the more likely it is to happen.
Try going to WiFi settings. Then menu that and click "Best WiFi performance" that solved it for me. Running viper 4g and had a consistent problem with the WiFi dropping and reconnecting or not connecting at all.

How does this affect your battery? I'm trying to figure out what is even causing this issue if it's just the router, my phone only or what.
Best wifi performance will seriously impact your battery. It prevents your phone from sleeping properly. I found that I got an extra 10 hrs of life when I disabled best performance when I was still running stock.

Yea I'm starting to think so as well, I don't have 3G problems actually the 3G radio I think is pretty good. I don't have the drop out problems anymore just after the phone being idle on wi-fi for a while I have to toggle it on and off for it to actually work. My signal levels and speeds are totally find when it's connected it's just letting it sit sleeping for a while is when I have the trouble. It's super annoying I pick my phone up to do something and it doesn't work.

Yeah. I don't remember having those issues with my first LTE but then again I didn't have it that long before I took it back to BB for a borked NFC chip. Wondering how their return policy is on a phone past the initial 30 day purchase..
yea my wifi just randomly drops and reconnect all the time and some time my data to it guess anoying after awhile when your usein the browser at work
Think this has been discussed before. The latest ota was supposed to fix the WiFi dropping, so if you have that and still experience problems then it's hardware related.
My first LTE dropped WiFi for 3g constantly. No matter what I did it kept happening. Finally took it back after I messed w gwallet too many times and got secure element error. New one doesn't drop WiFi at all. Also haven't updated to newest ota.
Ask me about my ability to annoy complete strangers!
I have newest OTA I don't get the disconnection issues any more since then but rather it staying connecting but not being able to get online after the phone sits idle. I have another person that has the exact same issue with me having to cycle wi-fi to get it working. I'm starting to think maybe it's something to do with Tomato but I have never had issues with it on any other device.
Every tomato Rom I used before was awesome and never had issues either.
Noticed that when I wake my phone it doesn't want to connect on WiFi. 3g disconnects a lot on bad signal too.
WiFi isn't as bad when I use juice defender. Mainly because it reconnects all radios when awakened though.

[Q] change band on 4.2.2

I was wondering if anyone has had any luck changing the band on any of the 4.2.2-based roms?
to be sure, i mean making the band "3g" only by dialing *#*#2263#*#* and then changing the band.
In all the 4.2.2 based roms i have tried, trying to go into service mode by any means results in an empty service mode screen with no options to select from.
my need to change the band is so that i can get out of the perpetual "H" or "H+" mode that eats my battery like no tomorrow.

If you are using the ATT network, then I'm afraid you are stuck with the automatic band selection you are seeing now.
ATT networks are RAT restricted for this generation of device, and manual band changes cannot be made, regardless of the ROM you are using.
How nice it would be to drop back to an edge 2g connection at work and enjoy the battery life, like I could only 1 year ago using my inspire 4g, But the note will not allow it on this network.
Several other networks are able to change at will.......(C'mon ATT !! Seriously ??)........sorry......g
The Collective Room has a 4g(I think modem)on it works good but I like Rootbox better not 4g do http://d-h.st/TYO or look around cheers!!!!!!!!

Its screen time/ brightness that eats battery. Why would H to H+ affect the battery? That change is an indicator of signal strength/distance to tower not what your modem is doing.

Change screen time by using screen less.
Less brightness is easy using the slider on the status bar.

While i agree that screen time has a lot to do with this, i am talking about battery being eaten away without the screen being on - like 6%-12% drain per hour range. This is probably network related. For example, in my tests, keeping the radio on an LTE band would induce such battery drains. For comparative purposes, on the blackstar xi rom i was on before, battery drain was ~1.5% per hour range when screen off.
Just in case someone is wondering, these numbers are based on fresh installs (after full wipes x2) of several of the latest 4.2.2 roms (the latest (3/13, i think) collective rom included). the brightness is set around the 10% range. and the percentages are taken after the rom has had a chance to "settle down" (i.e. maybe 5-6 hours into it).
Also, in case someone was wondering, i have tried resetting the battery stats when installing a couple of roms (although this should be a non-issue) without any effect on the battery life.
Furthermore, there is a preponderance of evidence to support the 3g/H/H+ battery saving method (for quick summary, google *#301279#)
gregsarg - im on bell network in Canada.
Thanks for your comments so far, guys. keep 'em coming.
Also, it would be great if you guys could share some of your battery drain experiences with the new 4.2.2 roms. Perhaps stating the rom name/version, whether data is always on, and any battery saving apps/tips/tricks used?
Edit: Another thought is CPU usage - and ive tried underclocking, trying diff kernels and governors just to get marginal benefits.
hello? bump
What baseband are you using? Try installing a Canadian ICS baseband/modem and see if that allows you to change your bands. They are not locked like ATT modems.
Uclf6.. I think that's the att one.

Any modem that was released with at&t ROMs will be restricted. Canadian released modems or the Singapore ROM modem should allow band switching.

The ROM has the menu selectable band "Use 2G network only", so I think its a modem thing. I used an older Bell modem last year, and it had the service menu unrestricted.
I m using china vf695 4.2.2 6180 can I go for LTE mode ??
