[Q] How to use wifi direct? - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

I did many searches but can not use this feature. I wanted to communicate with my laptop, more research without success. I tried to download the file to another phone, which also has this feature, but there is the option to send, as in the other device.
Example: open the file regenciador => send => wifi direct. This option does not appear. But in another cell appears if it is sent via direct wifi.
I'm using a JJ's Hybrid ROM 3.0 with support for direct wifi.
found that source code, but I can not use.
https://github.com/android/platform...tree/master/src/com/android/settings/wifi/p2p

nobody knows an answer. Nobody knows how to use this technology to help me and help others? no direct communication between wifi and pc / laptop / cell phone ....

I do not know if that application will run. I do not know but I want to understand "linking" my device directly to the notebook using wifi so direct, that is without any connection with 3g/wifi. My research then without success.

Can't connect to wifi in other countries

I have a Sony Ericsson xperia x10 and can't connect to a open wifi in another country. Like at Mc Donalds it says connected to wifi but it won't download any data. I also have a Motorola atrix and it connects without any problems. Is this a known issue?

1-make sure airplane mode is turned off..
2-try to forget the wifi (talking about Mc'd)- then reconnect
Hope this help

Doesn't work either if you use any external wifi software? e.g: "wifi manager"?
Also, check and be sure that these places doesn't use any host or proxy (just to be sure)
Which ROM has installed? kernel?
Regards
Don't you have to sign I'm for those services?
Open browser and it should take you too McDonald's WiFi cloud website
Enter your mobile number in there and they give you free access
You have to sign up to get access as it's monitored
Hope this helps
If your browser doesn't take you to McDonald's sign in after Conncting, try dolphin browser, it's redirects are way better
Also where I live you can't download anything from market on WiFi cloud
But forums work fine

Is there any mod to include internet passthrough in my LWW?
Do you mean "reverse tethering"?

No, what he/she is asking is if it is possible to use a computers cable/lan internet (because they dont have wifi or whatever) to connect the phone to the net. Yes, depending. If your rom/kernel (not sure which, or i guess both depending on lock or unlocked BL) has support for ad-hoc networking then you can, if not, then no. Just search for a way to create an ad-hoc network using your PC. Connectify is a good program to use.
Hi
Try this (in attachment) on your PC: unzip and run AndroidTool.exe; on the phone you'll be prompted to install an usb tunnel app.
Don't remember where I found it, most probably here on XDA, give a look searching.
Bye.

AD-HOC Connection in ICS

Hello all,
From other ICS devices I own and follow (and don't worry I know all about the wpa_supplicant issue) I was wondering if anyone has been successful in sharing their laptops internet with the phone?
Case: I at work have an unrestricted internet line, I can't connect a wireless router but I could share my internet via the wireless of my laptop (ad-hoc). Has anyone succeeded in doing this?
Thank you.

Thanks for the suggestion, I found the app and downloaded it but didn't work on my phone, it gave an error in the las segment because it cant find the system group "wifi" in my phone. For what I can see the dev stopped updating this app, in my eyes its a shame because that could of been very useful and profitable for him at the same time.

This has been now a life long quest for me since upgrading my Xoom to ICS. I would have perfect connection with GB so I know our hardware supports it, but as of ICS they changed the drivers... I would personally pay for an app / option like this and I know that many others would as well.

wifi adhoc
Make your laptop wifi hotspot
Run dos as administrator and type as follows
netsh
wlan
set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid="name" key="password"
start hostednetwork
show hostednetwork
stop hostednetwork
IMP:- It works on windows 7 and 8 only
Thank you for your help!
I followed your instructions and I got the wireless network up and running. When I try to connect my phone to it (Evo 4g LTE) the phone sees the network, asks for the password, tries to connect but keeps disconnecting and connecting constantly nonstop.
Any suggestions?

WiFi Direct for Xperia S, P, Sola....

I'm the developer of Fast File Transfer, a free Android app that uses WiFi tethering for sending files between devices at speeds similar to WiFi Direct.
The app allows for speeds of up to 32 Mbit/s, which means e.g. 1 Gigabyte in just over 4 minutes (depending on devices)
Features:
✔ Up to 20x speed of bluetooth
✔ The receiver is device-independent
✔ No need for a common Wi-Fi connection
✔ No data usage for file transfers
✔ The receiver does not have to have the app installed
✔ Send single or multiple files
✔ Easy to setup: Use QR codes to allow the receiver to easily connect to the wifi and open the receiving URL
Play Store Link:
http://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.floriandraschbacher.fastfiletransfer
I hope you find this useful!
Wow! Very thanks! Its is real cool!

According to this: http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/49020?start=0&tstart=0 the pre-installed WiFi direct does not work at least for the Xperia P.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.
There seem to be two different functions called WiFi direct...
If you've got it working on your U, please help Panzerfaust101 on this thread for his sola: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1948855 :good:
I use wifi shoter as my friend with S3 everything goes fine on my Xperia U and his S3.I send him movie today without any problem.

@XperianPro: You could see Fast File Transfer as an alternative to WiFi Shot
Hope my app is of use for those with WiFi-Direct-capable devices, too.
E.g. for sending to any device, not only smartphones with WiFi direct.
Seems like Xperia S and Xperia P still need my app as a replacement for WiFi Direct, as the preinstalled one does not work even with WiFi shot.
My Xperia U support wifi direct.

You can send to any device if it has WiFi. So if your PC has WiFi, you can use it as the receiver.
The sender has to have the app installed, so sending from the PC to the phone is not possible.
Thanks for app,at least I can send files now to devices without wifi direct because Bluetooth 2.1 is damn slow.

That's stupid
When exactly does it close?
Does your phone have a carrier lock?
Can you use WiFi Tethering if you start it from the system settings?
Will it works on Galaxy SL I9003?
Hi Friends, I am using Galaxy SL I9003 with CM10 cROM. Stock ROM (2.3.5) didn't support WiFi Direct, as this feature is started from ICS 4.0 on wards. I rooted my mobile and flashed CM10 but didn't get WiFi Direct option. I installed this app but it stops at "Initializing". Did any of you tried on CM10 rom or stock GB ROM?
working
working nice on my XP
