Returned to Stock & S-On'ed but still show Unlocked - HTC Rezound

Hey all, I got a warrantied phone and send my old one back only to find issues with the one they sent me. So I'm having to go through the process of going back to stock with the 1st replacement now that I got the 2nd replacement in hand.
I flashed the latest Stock GB RUU and that went fine. I did the S-On process and it's now S-On again...but still shows Unlocked. The last time I did this if I'm not mistaken, it relocked the phone when I did those two steps.
1. Has this happened to anybody else?
2. If so, how'd you fix it (ie. getting it back to "Locked")?
Sidenote: I hope Con247 doesn't see this or he's liable to kill me. LOL BUT IT WASN'T MY FAULT, THEY SENT ME A BAD PHONE WITH A PROXIMITY SENSOR ISSUE!!! LOL

To show locked as well, you have to do S-off procedure again. It changes the bootloader status to locked during the process.
Then repeat what you did; revert to stock again and S-on procedure again.

Edit:
Thanks for the below suggestions - think I have it figured out.
Installing the stock recovery will removed the tampered error, there's no way while you're s-on to set the bootloader to locked, it will list as re-locked if you run the lock command against it.
You'd need to s-off to return it fully back to the stock settings.
I recently s offed my phone and as long as you read and reread the instructions you will be fine. Make sure that whichever ROM you are using is rooted, at first I ran an RUU and attempted to s off without root and it didn't work so I gave up for a month. Also I found Hansoons s off tool helpful.

Could you list the order in which I should do things? Like first I should get S-Off - then are there two things I have to install? I really need baby instructions.....Re:
1) S-Off
2) Run this
3) Run this
I'm debating whether I should just say f* it and leave it "Re-Locked" by following the instructions listed on that site and running the ICS RUU.
But I dunno....just wanna get the phone back to them ASAP and hoping to not have to spend hrs on it.....

Best way to return to stock after ota

Is there any way for me to return to stock-unrooted with a reloacked bootloader after updating to the latest ota?
I need to relock my phone and return it to stock to send back for a replacement under extended warranty.
I don't think I can't run any of the older ruu files because I am on the current hboot, right?
What is the best way to get this phone back to stock conditions with a relocked bootloader?
I'm s on btw running ecliptic rez now

So you don't happen to have a nandroid of stock from before flashing a custom ROM?
If not, as seems to be the case since you're posting here, here's a stock ROM based on the OTA that would probably be your best bet:

ETA: I don't know if the link on the first page got changed but here's a fixed link for proper MD5 matching on the second page:

I discovered 2 options. Wait till an RUU is released for .14, or go S-OFF, RUU to .2, then reset the S flag to on.
(1) Stock-Rooted 4.05.605.14 rom, loadable from recovery (post #3)... probably not necessary if you can boot now, but probably the most likely to work since its completely stock other than root: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2288479
(2) Windows S-Off files (post 361): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=40950251#post40950251
(3) Follow these directions to S-OFF: http://unlimited.io/juopunutbear.htm
*** The timing of the wire trick is tricky, took me a good 6 or 7 tries to get it right.
(4) I had to follow the section under ROM Recovery to get it booting again after S-OFF: http://unlimited.io/jbtroubleshooting.htm
(5) Followed this guide to reset my locked flag (since I unlocked after going S-Off /facepalm... if you don't unlock after S-Off, you shouldn't need to do this part): http://androidforums.com/rezound-all-things-root/659453-how-reset-your-lock-status-flag.html
(6) Last but not least, follow this guide to go back to S-ON (You MUST run the RUU before doing this last step or you risk bricking your device!): http://androidforums.com/rezound-al...-off-guide-info-return-stock.html#post4394129
Make sure you read each step carefully... it worked for me... YMMV.
Result: Fully stock, locked, and S-ON, to send back to VZW

You can probably flash a stock recovery and relock it. Without s-off your phone will always say "Relocked" in the bootloader. A lot of people have returned their phones that way and said they didn't have a problem, but if you do, don't hold me to that, but there are posts you can find saying this.
Or you can go the more involved route that was posted just above.
Oh, thought I was responding to original poster... anyway, info still valid.

Yeah... I spent a good 2 to 3 hours figuring that out Finished the final S-ON and restore process about 1am last night.
I wanted to eliminate any possible chance of them trying to claim it was because I borked the software by messing with it... I knew it was a slim chance, but I just didn't want to risk it. The risk of going S-OFF outweighed the risk of VZW blaming me for the failed touch screen. Each person needs to decide whether the risks are worth it to them
And, doing the S-OFF stuff was actually kind of fun! (I love to tinker!)

[Q] How to Upgrade Hboot 2.25

I recently bought a replacement Rezound, which has Hboot 2.25/Radios 1.22.10 0421r &0424r. I have unlocked the bootloader and installed TWERP 2.6.3.0 and Infection 2.9.1. I am sure I should have thought of this before installing Infection, but my battery life is worse than my original phone and it runs hot. No reboots or other problems.
I have searched for instructions and recommendations for upgrading Hboot, but haven't found anything clear enough to overcome my nervousness about this process. I have one bricked phone on the desk in front of me and I don't want another. I will be grateful to anyone who can recommend what Hboot to flash (I'm thinking 2.27 or 2.28?) and guide me through the process.
Thanks,

Your initial comment, "For this you MUST BE S-OFF FOR DOWNGRADING with a relocked bootloader and make sure you are not on a custom or hex edited hboot or you can brick your device." stopped me. My phone is S-on and Hboot is unlocked. Do I have to be S-off and unlocked to flash the three OTAs?

I downloaded all three files and checked md5 - all checked out. I then put the 1st file on the root directory of my ex sd card, renamed it PH98IMG.zip and rebooted into the unlocked bootloader. Bootloader recognized the zip, the progress bar appeared and the file transferred. Then the progress bar disappeared and nothing else happened. There was no instruction to press Volume up. I repeated everything and got the same result. I can still boot into TWERP and my phone still starts up with Infection 2.9.1.
Let me say at this point, THANK GOD NOTHING BAD HAPPENED!
Any suggestions?

I am looking at my Hboot screen. It says:
VIGOR PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-2.25.0000
RADIO-1.22.10.0421r/1.22.10.0424r
OpenDSP-v13.6.0.7611.00.0104
eMMC-boot

I transferred the 1st file to my SD card and deleted "this 1st " from the name. I watched it reading in Hboot and saw "PH98IMG.ZIP".
I'll try relocking the bootloader.
Thanks.
EDIT - Looks like the bootloader needs to be locked. The first file is finished, starting on the second.
EDIT 2 - OK. I can't get the 2nd file to flash with the bootloader locked or unlocked.
BUT, I now have:
HBOOT-2.27.000
RADIO-2.22.20.0801r/2.22.10.0803r

Please see EDIT 2. I can't flash the 2nd file with the bootloader locked or unlocked.
I can boot into Hboot, but when I try to open Recovery I first get the green arrows (circle and down), then I get the red triangle with exclamation mark. When I booted the phone I got the setup wizard and a notice that my phone was just activated. Of course it was already activated. I suppose this just means everything has been wiped and I'm starting fresh with the firmware from the 1st downloaded zip. I didn't go through setup.
Any ideas?

I noticed they were smaller. I installed the 1st OTA with the bootloader relocked. The 2nd OTA wouldn't complete installation locked or unlocked. I reflashed the first OTA just to make sure and the process worked flawlessly. The 2nd OTA acts like it is loading, but I don't get the notice to press Vol Up.
If you think of a way that might work to get the other OTAs installed, let me know.
Thanks again for all your help.

I guess you haven't thought of anything.
I am thinking of having another go at installing all three OTAs. I have installed CWM and TACHYON. I don't have FCs or bootloops, but my battery life is poor, the camera doesn't work and the phone runs hot (>110). I have tried SetCPU with limited success.
You and others have stated that outdated HBOOT/radios can cause overheating, so I want to try.
Question: Do I need to do a factory reset and start over with the 1st OTA?
Thanks again for all of your help.

[Q] How to Unlock Relocked Bootloader?

Hi there guys, I rooted my HTC One a couple of months ago. But now I want to go back to stock. So I watched this tutorial video on how to unroot my HTC One and got to the part where I'm supposed to relock my bootloader.
I had to stop the process because the application he recommended wouldn't run on my Windows 7.
So, I'm stuck with a relocked bootloader and S-on.
I thought about converting my device to Google Play Ed but realized that I may not have the right skills for that just yet so now, I just want to go back to stock 4.3 but when I selected Recovery, it showed "***Security Warning***" right below "***Tampered***" and "***Relocked***".
After 2 restarts it disappeared but I'm scared that it might appear again.
I really want to just go back to stock. I've looked in the past threads and didn't find a solution on how to unroot specifically for relocked bootloaders.
I would really appreciate some help please.

Did you use rumrunner to s-off? Are you using a patched/modified hboot? Whatever method you used to s-off, you have to use the reverse of that, or you could brick your device. The answer to your question lies in the method you used to s-off your device.
I'm not saying this is going to help you, but I did a simple google search when I did this, and this helped me:

It says it's S-ON though.. Do I Make it S-OFF first then unroot it? I thought it would be S-OFF because I rooted it. Should i try rumrunner to turn it to S-OFF?

Going back to stock

Hey guys,
I feel like this is a pretty dumb question to ask, but maybe someone can help me. I have to return my phone back to Verizon for a speaker issue on the phone. Anyway, mine says relocked at the very top, I have flashed it back to factory using RUU and I have changed my CID back to factory. Now I haven't gone to S-On yet, and I am following this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=41801200&postcount=2
As I stated it still says ***Relocked*** at the top and I didn't start following this till after I had flashed the RUU, What do I need to do to get it to back to locked? Any ideas as to the direction to move in? Do I need to unlock and root it again, then just follow that guide to get it back to stock?
Thanks
