Looks ok

gives a more upscale look, beauty of Android...lots of customizations!! lol

That's awesome how did u do it?
Sent from my EVO using xda premium

Easy!!! here is an old tutorial back when I did my Old EVO
Is done with a sheet of Carbon fiber wrap used on cars
If you dont have the Cardon sheet PM and we can work something out !I have plenty!!
Firts. I detach the backcase
Second, peel off the carbon fiber wrap and stick it to the clean surface of the back of your phone.
Third, Grab your wifes / girlfriend or mother blowdryer and just mold the edges. ( Common sense, when you appy the heat the wraper will mold to any shape or corner. No need to over over heat )
Then trim to shape, with blade / exacto knife.
Then your ready!!

Dinoc ftw!

You know they make a $15 kit that does the same thing, right?

Yea that's actually what I thought it was

I love it!!
Found this site, they have different colors and you get a 2'x2' sheet for $15.

I like the metal/wood ones
http://www.rvinyl.com/metal-vinyl.htm
http://www.rvinyl.com/woodgrain.htm
Looks like the 3x3 sample swatches would cover the top piece for $.99 !! (assuming it doesnt shrink too much)
It says, "They offer samples on all vinyl" but I could only find so many.
If someone wants to stick a ruler up to and check Brushed aluminum is nice!

I was wondering what is left behind on the plastic cover should you choose to remove the carbon wrap? Does it leave a sticky residue which I guess Goo Gone could remove easily?

I was wondering same about 'undoing'. As for goo gone, hopefully you don't mean something like goof off, which is lacquer based and would essentially melt the plastic cover.
Edit: yeah, that bushed aluminum looks sweet! I, personally, think a lot of them look too shiny/glossy.
Now, if only Wallet worked, I'd order it lol

Goo Gone not Goof Off
Never used Goof Off, but the product Goo Gone is good at removing any sticky residue left from price tags or stickers on products. I don't think it would harm the plastic, and it probably isn't lacquer based.
Is the carbon fiber very smooth or does it have some texture / grip feel to it?

That looks cool. I would want something like this but not so industrial looking. Any other links besides the ones already mentioned. Perhaps a 12" x 12" sheet for <$10.

No, if you remove it it will not leave any glue or sticky stuff.

Actually, where do you get your carbon fiber from? I'm sure I could use plenty of that on phones, automotive, audio, and everything else I own.

A lot of companies will you send you a free sample of Di-Noc. That's where I got mine (to do my OG 4G).

If this is actually removable (so I don't need another top cover for returns), I'm so doing this, just gonna make sure to carve out the camera hole so I can see the red.

Just did the same thing, the back hole including the red ring is approx. 1.2mm in diameter, and I just found something around that size and cut a hole around it, then stabbed the xacto into the cutting pad and slid the piece around it like a jigsaw to finish off the circle. The total job took around an hour for perfect cuts of all the circles aside from the camera due to me being a bit of a newbie and a bit blind.
Someone said that they make a 15 dollar thing that does the same, but looking at the skinomi carbon reviews, it looks like around the corners they use relief cuts in order to make it around the corners. Using di-noc or a similiar thin vinyl wrap, you can heat it up around the corners and get it to stretch slightly and actually wrap instead of just leaving some parts slightly uncovered to make it work. In my experience also with other products that do this to corners, those sections peel off after awhile because they get caught on your pockets while you slide the device in and out.
Second time working with Di-noc, my vision is a little blurry right now from all the focusing up close, so i'm going to take a break from the monitor, but before I go, one VERY important tip to anyone that is going to try this: use a new blade on the xacto, the sharper and pointier it is the easier time you will have with all the details, i ended up using just the very tip to cut out most of the details.

The carbon fiber part and the Andy part are two different pieces. Carbon fiber is one piece and the green Andy is another. Andy you peel the back off, apply it then peel the front clear layer. Like car stickers.
The carbon fiber piece is almost exactly the size of the back of the gTablet. I trimed the backing with scissors then lined it up to check before applying. I'm surprised I did it good the first time.
The glue on the carbon fiber is really really strong. Instructions say to start in the middle and push out. I don't think that's a good idea because of how strong the glue is.
I applied mine from the left to the right. Going real slow and pushing out the air bubbles as I went.
Anyhow, I love it. Feels great while holing the gTablet, gives it a texture feel to grip.
Guess no one likes it
I think it looks pretty cool...the wife agrees. Wondering if using a water and very little soap mixture sprayed on the sticky side of the vinyl would help the application? Obviously that would allow you to peel and stick a few times before finalizing its final spot and squeegeeing out the water. I've done that for applying clear headlight covers (Lamin-x) with success.
So these are the same skins, but one comes with Andy? BTW, Ithink it looks cool.

I like it.. although not sure if it's worth the $25.. is it in your opinion?... Especially since I am considering getting a case that it will most likely be carried in anyways..
Thats the same one I got so you know I like it....
I bought a similar one from Amazon. It came with a little spray bottle and soap solution and it made the installation very easy. Very much the same as applying decals or skins on automobiles. Just spray the soap water on the adhesive of the skin before applying. The soap water acts as a lubricant so you can move the skin around until you get it where you want it. Once position, carefully start working the water and air out from the center. Works great! Does a great job protecting my G-Tab. The screen protector that came with it is awesome too. Would highly recommend.
Waving Andy 2.0
I was one of the early adopters of this version of the carbon fiber rear skin. But pretty soon after installed it I noticed the waving Andy sticker was having problems. First, the antennas on Andy came loose and would get bent this way and that until finally falling off entirely. Secone, I noticed that there was a dark thinning line that was along the bottom of Andy's body where the gTab's case curves which only got darker and more noticible with time. Lastly, the sharper edges of Andy's upper body and lower part of his head on the sticker had begun to come loose. Eventually I pulled it off since it starting to look tacky.
Then, I contacted Aaron about it since he is the godfather of these skins and told him my issue. He came back with a solution which I liked a lot (but some may not). He made his own waving Andy sticker which was much thicker than the stock one that is shown in the first thread. It also had a white border all around the Andy so that there were no small pieces (like the antennas).
Anyway, I think this version will last much longer than the original version and because of the white border around this Andy I think it stands out even more.
Here's a pic of it in case you were wondering what I was talking about.
I ordered mine last week and I'm still waiting for its arrival.

I'm new here and registered to show how good this thing looks (in my opinion) with a carbon skin. I did the same for my iPad before I sold it. I uploaded the pictures to my User account photo album so I assume I just link them now.

I got the same thing from Skinomi and I like it. I only added the one back panel.
That does look nice.
HTC Flyer / Tapatalk
Nice! Had a similar one from PhantomSkinz when I had my Captivate. Love the carbon look.
I have the same skin. I'm afraid the corners may start to peel back... Not faulting Skinomi, since it would be a problem with any cut to fit skin.
Just trying to think of ways to prevent it. Maybe a bead of nail-polish or super glue on the edges to smooth and reduce from catching... also prevent particles from getting under the edges.
I used a heat shrink gun for the edges and it pretty much gave it a very clean, secure adhesion to the tablet. I would think a hair blow dryer would do the same.
Did the same with a heat gun while wrapped in packing stretch wrap... But still feel as though it may get caught... Oh well, they sent me two by mistake or it may be there policy.

Yes, you really have to use a heat gun or blow dryer for best results ...I used a blow dryer.
I really want to get this skin combo but I wish they would cut out a section around the htc lettering like they do for the ipad skins.
I might just get it and do the cutting myself but I would prefer not to.
OP, thanks for bringing this to my attention.
Yes. I would have liked to see the HTC logo cut-out also. Overall its a nice cut.
Just installed yesterday. The pics are a bit lousy because the lighting here at work is crap and I can't just leave right now. I thought it would be nice to see the htc logo but after installing it I think it looks good as is.
It has a great textured feel to it and it adds a bit of grip to the view. I didn't install the sides because they just didn't line up right; I had to cut the skin for the top bumper because it would have prevented me from removing the cover if I need to get to my micro sdcard.
The screen protector that came with it is nice and doesn't have that rubbery feel that zagg's have. It doesn't affect the display at all unless you install it and leave many microbubbles and streaks behind.
Overall I give it 3.5 out of 5. The reason I rated it like this is because the original design prevents access to the micro sdcard without having to destroy the skin. Another reason is that the cutouts don't line up that great on the view. The edges that stick to the curves of the view seem to have been cut short and leave a bit of a gap between the skin edge and the edge it is supposed to wrap around.
Other than that, it's still not a bad price (29.95 I think I paid) for a full body-skin and screen protector. A heat gun or blow-dryer is a must use item when installing this skin. It makes the skin soft enough to be able to stretch it just bit if you need it to which is what I did in some areas to get the edges to line up correctly.
Nice skin but I agree it's a pain to cut the skin to be able to remove the sd card cover. And the corners we difficult to stay in place without putting a lot of heat to it. 3 stars for me.

I agree about the cutting of the cover portion. A razor did it fairly easily. The back portion of the skin is great. The rest is just meh. I must say though, that this company does stand behind their product. I wrote them after my install about the cover portion that came off when I tried to change out my micro sd card. He shipped me a whole new skin, screen protector and all. It was in my mailbox two days later. This is very rare these days. For that I give it four stars. I had a problem with a full body suit from body guards and still have not received my exchang from them, and that was weeks ago. The screen protector on this setup is one of the clearest I've used but it is a little grippy and feels unresponsive at times. Although, the finger prints are way less than when I had nothing at all.
I just wanted to let everyone know that the Skinomi carbon fiber skin and the Armor Suit carbon skin are the exact same thing. I just received my Armor suit today and was surprised when it was the exact thing. So if you're shopping for one you can get the cheaper of the two. Service wise the shipping was about the same, but Skinomi was on the ball with a replacement that same day. My Armor skin was originally for my Sammy 10.1 and I exchanged it for the flyer which took a month and me calling a few times to get it. I will say that they were very nice people and very understanding.
Here is mine

HTC Rezound Case Review

Okay this is my first review so bare with me on this one. I purchased the HTC case specifically designed for the Rezound. Overall makes the Rezound a bit beefier feeling, but still forms the Rezound curvature. I would guess it expands the width about 1/8" and same with bottom. But none added to the height, this is where the case starts failing. The case was very easy to install by just simply snap it on. Fits very snug and hugs the contours of the phone around the headphone jack and buttons. It is composed plastic and a synthetic fiber material. The plastic case on the exterior has a smooth rubbery texture around the perimeter of the device. Inside on the rear of the cover is a stitched applied "grip" from said fiber. I'm not good with material but seems to be like some form of a polyester. Overall, a fair case until we start talking about protection. Included is pictures with brief description. Now for the bad, it is definitely not an Otterbox. With the case attached, all four corners are unprotected and susceptible to damage. The case itself stops short right at the top and bottom giving you minor protection on these two sides. The other two sides (left and right) are covered, but still have issues. The case does not come up even or higher than the elevation of the screen. The screen/bezel sticks up just a tad, but still not good. If the phone were to be dropped perfectly parallel with the ground screen side down, this phone wouldn't have a fighting chance with this case on. If no screen protector was applied, just sliding it around face down could cause unnecessary scratches. Now back to the back part of the case. The stitched "grip" has a couple flaws in itself. I barely took my fingernail over this material, and I could see the material ripping apart. Think about his sliding in and out of your pocket. Also, the stitched part is held down with some epoxy that doesn't seem to hold very well. Around the camera cover, the material was coming up just rubbing my finger over it. Not even trying to dig into it, just merely rubbing my finger over it. Overall this phone fails in a great portion of protection, and construction. The good is it still maintains the original feel of the Rezound.

This is the full rear shot the back. Just shows kinda the make up and construction of the case.
Just a quick picture of the HTC logo on the back of the case in closer detail.
Rear showing of the case around the speaker.
The camera area where I found the "grip" to seem loose from attachment.
This is the bottom side of the device, as show the whole bottom is exposed to potential damage.
A shot of the device and case from side. Kind of hard to tell, but the screen bezel sticks up higher than the actual case.
And this is a shot of the corner, and the exposure it has.

Here is a cover I made from a black 2mm thick foam sheet from Micheal's craft store. The foam I used is called "Silly Winks Foam Sheets, 12x18, 2mm thick, $0.89." Basically, I just got the foam sheet, cut it down to 9 3/4 x 6 1/2 inches, and cut a slot out for the speaker and camera. I attached it with some wide double sided tape from 3M, making sure to edge the cover with tape very carefully so no corner comes loose.
I found the foam to be nice in the hand for non-slippiness, and it also takes care of that crunching sound that you can get if you set your tablet down on a hard surface that has some small grains of dirt or other stuff on it. I havent had to take one of these off yet, but the tape shouldnt do anything bad to the front cover, or its finish.
Enjoy.

yup, its the same stuff basically as the stuff they use on envelopes.
Interesting, going to swing by Michaels or Ben Franklin's tomorrow while I finish up Christmas shopping. I'm assuming 2mm is as thing as it gets?
Good job. Yes, I was thinking I might have to cover the amethyst gray.
Some said that it looked too purple. But, I don't think so. I actually like
the color. In some light almost looks gunmetal.
The only issue I see you having is since it's not exactly flush with the surface, I'm afraid that the foam can get caught on things. For example when you put it down or stuff it into a bag.

They might have some that are a bit thicker, but 2mm just seemed like the best thickness to me. They also have other colors i think, some pretty bright...
yeah, it can get caught in a bag if you dont put it in just right, but doing a good tape job takes care of most of that problem.

Not exactly. The adhesive used isn't remotely the same as, for example, a sticker. If it's the envelope stuff, it leaves absolutely no residue. Besides, he didn't say this is be all end all solution.

yeah, i love aluminum cases on electronics, but they are so smooth that they just dont give me a solid grip all the time. Also this helps to grip the surface of whatever i set it on, like the rounded arms of the couch. Really gives you that perfect couch commando angle.

Wood effect back / battery cover

Decided as I couldn't find a case I liked (most make the phone too think, interrupt wireless charging and add unnecessary bulk) that I should customise a genuine battery housing / back panel.

Haha. Thanks. I love it I've lusted after the G4 leather back and unsuccessfully tried covers that have a "leather-look" that interfered with the wireless charging and look plasticy and rubbish tbh.
So I took inspiration from the MOTO X Style. I love it because I still get wireless charge, it's light and it's unique.
If you seriously want one you just need:
• an original LG G3 back plate
• a roll of DC Fix or other vinyl film
• a hair drier
• a Stanley knife or scalpel
Instructions
1. Remove back from phone (or use an original replacement from eBay). Clean the plate with alcohol or window cleaner. It needs to be 100% clean. No dust or finger prints.
2. Cut out a piece of the vinyl film, large enough to cover your back plate with maybe an excess of about 1cm around the edge.
3. Remove the paper from the film and place it sticky side down on the back plate.
4. Smooth the film over the back plate, pushing any air bubbles out.
5. Blast with a hair drier to make the film go super floppy and smooth over the edges.
6. Trim off the excess and carefully cut out the holes for the camera/buttons, flash, laser and speaker.
Done

Yeah, I did try one of those first. The white leather effect one. They're good but I found it didn't go right to the edges, especially the top and bottom, and it got grubby quite quickly. The latter maybe because it was white.
Thanks for sharing!!!

Haha.

You rock! Thanks for the share!
The only foreseeable problem is figuring out what to do with the remainder of the roll lol

True but at only £5 (USD$7) it's cheaper than the precut stuff and a lot of cases. I'm redoing my kitchen so it was just left over for me.
I might vinyl wrap my car so it looks wooden #crazy

Yeah, back to the ark!
that looks great! interesting idea, never thought about using wraps or vinyls to do it like this. i just bought this "sample" oak vinyl film 4" x 8" just the right size, hope it'll work for my g3! it's not a self adhesive, or at least thats what it looks like, any recommendation on the adhesive i should use?

Looks like it should be self adhesive. It says "sticker" and has backing paper. Give it a shot and remember to post a pic of it

I grew to still like it, it's the standard fit version and it's possible my technique wasn't as good as the pros but it does look like a sticker.
awesome!
I will probably follow your steps
Can you show a picture of the corners? Thank you
Thanks for your guide.. Finally i made it! But my wood effect is so dark..

It looks great! But how do the edges feel? I tried a dBrand skin and the sides never really stuck 100% and felt sharp. like it would cut your finger any moment.
@superawesomeme Thank you so much for posting this! Look absolutely amazing! I can use this method to wrap my electronic cigarette as well, been wanting this so much and no one sells wraps like this for my device. This is so awesome thank you very much really!
I was so disappointing when LG decided to not release their wood/leather covers for the G3 just to push the G4 sales.
