You're probably missing your /efs/imei/keystr file. Create this file containing "ON". You'll need root to do it.

First, do you have root?
If so, use a file explorer, like Root Explorer or ES File Explorer, go to the /efs/imei folder, create a new file called keystr, edit it to contain the word ON.

The odex file has to match. What firmware are you running? You can also try a deodexed apk from a custom rom.

I'am running KF3 kernel.
I have downloaded already a custom rom but when unzipped
there are some image files and when I try to unzip those or mount
it with some iso program it will give a error.

I attached a program that will help you. Unzip and install.
1. Open the program and click on the "Drives" tab then "mount image" use the factoryfs.img from the rom you downloaded.
2. Once the image is loaded it will be labeled "Linux native volume 1" double click this.
3. This will open up the drive and allow you to view the contents. Search for the files you need and then click the "save" tab.
I also attached a deodexed apk for you, see if it works.
Gonna try it tonight.
Thnx for your help.
Jobmanager won't install.
I put it in the system/app folder that's good right?

Yes that's right. It should work, have you tried rebooting your phone? Also make sure that there is no .odex file for jobmanager. If there is, delete it from system/apps if you're using the deodexed one I gave you.

Down in its settings you will find two options: one to browse as root and another to mount the /system to read/write.

i did reboot opened google maps and it showed exactly where i was. And the problem that bothered me was me keeping gps turned off all the time only to find that it would turn itself on which I do not like. I want to disable it permanently because I don't think its nessecary for basic phone and web service. I dont feel that my movements should be tracked for any reason it's just weird! If I am correct the phone service is done through the wireless connection not gps?
Shouldn't u prefer changing ROM?
Problem solved and closed! The original instructions are correct & results are as originally claimed in first reply to the op. For some reason it didn't delete properly the first time,I fixed this by restoring my backup & re-attempting. THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO HELPED
Well I could have helped, but I'm an optimus one user, so I don't know which one is a stable optimus v rom...asking an optimus v user will be better...

Galaxy S3 Lock, unlock and Screen selection Sounds

Requires Root access
Those who like the lock, unlock and screen selection sound of s3 can use this..
Download the zip file extract the files from it.
using software like root explorer copy the files from the folder in which they are saved to system/media/audio/ui replacing the old files and change their permissions to rw-r-r reboot enjoy
Or use the flashable zip and flash it using CWM...

Thanks To papayayoghurt for the flashable zip....
I can't modify anything in the UI folder. When I try to replace or delete or copy old files out or new files in it still says EROFS (Read-only file system)
I am rooted tried both Astro and ES Explorer. Thanks
If your rooted, in root explorer you'll see the option in top right corner to change from read only.

Hi. Is there any other ways to overwrite those sounds in UI folder on my galaxy s3, unrooted phone? I don't know, something like download mode or kind of. I don't want to root my device because I have 2 years warranty period. Thanks.

you have to be rooted, and that file explorer won't do you have to use something like root explorer or root browser. there is a thread that explains how to fix it without rooting, is not for the galaxy tab, but should work too.

I am starting to think that there is no solution other then root or (short term hard reset)
Fix
I have found a fix for this problem. If you copy and paste the .clipboard folder found in sdcard0 (see attached picture) using a file manager app such as My Files or Astro File Manager to the sdcard0 folder you would be able to bring up the clipboard again. The path is /storage/sdcard0. Create a duplicate of the .clipboard folder to the sdcard0 folder and you should be able to use the clipboard again.
