[Q] Help Theming Google Search Widget - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

Hi Guys,
I'm a designer and have put together a concept of a Google Search Widget that I wouldn't mind sitting on my home screen. I've integrated styles from other parts of the UI so that it'll fit more seamlessly into the user experience.
I've never developed for Android before but have done a lot of background reading and am aware of the various \res\drawable images I'll need to replace. My question is whether or not I'll be able to replace those images without rooting my device, using ASTRO for example?
Also, is it a simple case of replacing the \res\drawable images and it working or is there more to it?
I've got a locked bootloader and don't want to unlock it, so am waiting for ICS and a hopeful way to root with a locked bootloader then.
Screenshot of what it will look like:

I'll be re-designing the app that launches upon touch to look more like the Xperia UI menus
Cheers,
M

Bump for post edit (didn't want to duplicate/start a new topic)

I know that another similar thread is already opened, but this has a "WP7" style ( I love this one)... hope you don't mind my doing... and for those who do, SRY!!
Tips:
-To change the icons I used "JWMD Icon Changer" THANKS to Nullstring: here
-For icons, THANKS to younxta: here
-Or can copy those modified by me (wich are white and without circle..in my opinion are more appropriate to WP7 themes )
If you need other icons attach them here and I'll see what can I do
Waiting for feedback

just install .cab in your device and restart it...it should work after...
If it doesn't, try to install StartMenu_4.cab from here and after that install my cab (I had this installed before starting to develop my own cab and maby that's the problem)
Question
has anybody else had problems installing it?:-?
New!!!
Added new white icons!!!
awesome. And will it work for WM6.5 standard? No one does development for smartphones really Y_Y

[Q] Need help with a Miui Theme and Locker Port from GO Launcher/Locker

I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me finish porting a locker over from the Go-Locker Program into MIUI, I have everything done but the manifest file seems to not be working and I could use a second set of eyes.
The theme is the Diva Theme, if you haven't seen it it is by far the best go locker theme.
To be honest this is the first one I have tried to do, and I'm a bit rusty.
When I load the locker into MIUI themes, it just changes the background and displays the default locker.
What I can offer in return for help is a place to store all of your themes for free, I have my website that I have plenty of space and am willing to share with the person that will help me a folder and ftp access to host your own stuff on, and access via the file manager script, and distribute.
I think this is a fair trade since all of the file sharing sites are going down one by one.
If anyone is willing to help me then pm me and let me know, I also have the rest of the theme that I am working on to go along with it.

[Q] Persistent notifications from the same app/package and their order (Lollipop)

Hi, all. I have a question that I hope someone can help me answer. I've been using MeteoNotifier (gplay link here) for the last little while. The app creates two persistent notifications via 2 xml's and, on KitKat, the notifications were Current Conditions on top and the Forecast on the bottom (see example below)
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
With the 5.0 Lollipop update, I noticed that the notifications have switched orders (i.e. Forecast on top, Current Conditions on the bottom)(see example below)
My question is, does anyone know how I can change the order of the notifications back and can this be done by editing the xml files? I am not a developer (i.e. no Java knowledge) but I am handy with apktool and xml editing (and very limited knowledge of smali editing). Logic tells me that this most likely cannot be done by simple xml editing but I thought that I'd ask. Thanks.
PS I'm almost certain that the app has been abandoned by the dev (it has not been updated in almost 2 years) and that is why I'm posting the question here. Plus, I enjoy learning about this stuff

Hello everyone!
After the last update on Always On Display if you noticed, now you can use gifs also.
To use it the gif file needs to be with the resolution "680х500".

Would you know how this affect battery?
ONE GR8 8
Still no, I setup it today and I had half battery already. Will see from tommorow.
I installed the update but now it keeps crashing, making the phone freeze completely for a short period. Anyone know of a way to roll back?

What Happened to Tasks (Codename Ice Cubes)?

Hello,
Anyone knows an app alternative to Tasks 1.3.4? I am still using it but developers stopped updating it.

The best tasks app that ever was, I'm starting to have issues, Google is blocking on one phone and I can't add new lists on others. Veg disappointing
@HenryHvPa What do you not like about Google Tasks?
I like the ability to quickly enter, indent, move multiple items too other lists, without entering dates or any other extra data
The kiss principle..keep it simple

Google made some changes how apps access Google Account. I remember going to security tab and creating new password for every app separately. Did you try it? I don't remember why I didn't continue with it.
