oohh...?!?
You described in your tutorial howto unlock the bootloader with the test point unlock. This metode is described here 6 months ago. This has nothing to do with rooting your device.

Howto root your Ray without unlocking your bootloader (loosing warranty) is only possible with the .42 Fimware in 2.3.4

your bootloader is UNLOCKED
it's not rooted, rooting is related to the firmware once you unlock your bootloader you can flash a ROOTED rom, or root your stock rom using methords available. Unlocked bootloader also allowes you to flash a custom Kernal.
(anyone correct me if im wrong)

u r right.. im sorry
il change this to bootloader unlock instead of bootloader rooted...

As discussed in messenger you suceeded in unlocking the bootloader that has been done by many already.
Next step is to read tutorials and ask questions to make sure you understand everything fully.
Many people brick their phone due to not understanding and if in doubt... Ask.
On that note the best GND for that phone is the metal sim housing
Good luck

Yes it can, depending on the method you use to sim unlock and what method you used to unlock the bootloader

I AM On Wolf Break v6 Stock And Stock Kennel . I Am On X10i . I Am On Baseband .7X ( Forget Later Check Phone ) Original Android 2.3.3 Baseband .
Is There A Easy Way To Unlock Boot L oader Without Changing Rom And Change Kennel And Baseband .
Unlocking the bootloader simply means giving you the access to modify the phone to the fullest.
For example, with the old bootloader bypass, we can only flash the stock kernel from flashmode, and the custom kernel can only be the one modified from the stock kernel and can only be flashed via recovery mode, which is not the real recovery(xRecovery which we used before).
Having access to the bootloader can give us access to the real recovery mode, which will be useful for us in a specific situation.
You can unlock the bootloader with the files provided by the_laser. For simplified instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1254087
So if I'm on Wolf's rom = no unlocked bootloader?

Once you've unlocked your bootloader, you can't use the stock kernel anymore.
And no, being on WB's ROM doesn't mean you don't have an unlocked bootloader. It's an entirely different thing, a ROM don't make your bootloader locked or unlocked.
And yes, there is such app but you still need to downgrade to old 2.1 kernel first then click the big button and reflash the stock 2.3 kernel. It was made by Malyeruqrofjskdfsmdf something like that.

[Q] how to install ics .. step by step

Hi
I am noob in xperia&android configuration i have sony ericsson xperia mini and i want to install last ics custom rom and i want a guide step by step not some words what to do .. I have searched a lot for a thread like that for xperia mini but i didn't find
Help me please
To install a custom ROM you need to unlock your bootloader. Follow THIS tutorial.
Also, official ICS for mini has not been released yet. You could want to wait some time, or you can install a custom ROM. It's up to you.
Also, you should edit your thread's title. It's a little bit too.. how to say... generic.

It is better to wait for official ICS to come for youe phone,if you don't know how to update your phone, I can help..
You may reserve my post for future use
1.First,download PC Companion from the internet (I would recommend SONY Update Service aka SUS but you're still newbie,so I'll give easy software for you to use)
2.Install it
3.After install, download Xperia Mini driver for your phone and install it before using the PC Companion (I only connect my phone to my computer and it install the driver automatically) (MAKE SURE YOUR PHONE IS IN MSC MODE,NOT MTP MODE)
4.After successfully install the phone driver, run the PC Companion (run with administrator? If you're on vista)
5.If the PCC ask for downloading the update for the software itself, let it be
6.After downloading update and everything is loaded, connect your phone through USB
7.Connect your memory stick to computer (if asked)
8.PC Companion will say update available for your phone if your phone got some
Sent from my SK17i using xda premium
But think of this tutorial, do you want a custom rom or do you want only ics from sony?
Cause when you unlock your bootloader, you will lose your warranty or you must do it by testpoint method. There are some roms for locked bootloader too, but if you want to try all the roms for xm you will need to unlock your bootloader.
If you only want ics, wait a bit until the official ftf is uploaded and then you can flash with flashtool. If it is on there will be a thread for "noobs" too!

Xperia P 22i: network + 3G problems after rooting

Hi,
I (rty'd) Rooted this device by thise Rooting method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460

Since them:
1) People told me that phone is off.
2) Calls are just hang off (not by me or by the anyone else).
3) 3G problems.
I tried to find the restore file by this guide: http://seclists.org/fulldisclosure/2013/Jun/115
But i didn't find anything (is it make sence? or maybe bc's the Root procedure didn;t succeed ... i dont have the backup file?
Is there any way to get the factory rom+factory bootloader and cetera , for flash them to the device?
Please - need your "heavy tools" help here...:fingers-crossed:

O.k...so it should be:
1. Unroot...let the tool do the process...
2. Option 1...let it do the process and finish.
What is the chanse that this process can overwrite the files system (b.l, radio, rom...) and resolve the problem?

Only sucseed unlocking the bootloader.
I tried also to change the kernal (read it on another guide) but it just wasnt helpful.
I think that the solution will be ONLY by flashing the factory rom + factory kernel by the flashtool.
The question is how can i find the right factory rom?
Have to say that i quait afraid that i will flash the wrong files...

I did not suggest to unlock the bootloader, I just asked, because PCC would not update unlocked bootloader.
Have you tried SUS? It won't update unlocjed BL either, and won't even begin to update, I had a message telling I have a modified FW and it cannot update, but PCC only fails after it download the files.
What error did you get in PCC?
"Factory rom" vary from country and service providers if it sold with a contract. Which ROM exactly do you need?
Which FW version do you have now?

Good news...hope so
I canceled the Root in bootloader -> then updated the rom with the updating software of Sony and the process finished without any issues.
Till now it looks good...but w'll need to have more then 8 hours of use to know if it did resolved it.
But it looks like a good and maybe we could be optimistic:good:
Thanks so much for your helping desire - all along!

Xperia XA Ultra F3215 Variant

Hi Guys!
Got myself an Xperia XA Ultra F3215 Variant (1st Sony Android Device for me) yesterday. I like the screen and performance - even if its just a mid-ranger and I'm also coming from the Note 4, though I've yet to really test the battery out.
I tried searching not only the XDA but also through Google, but I have yet to find a thread about the F3215.
I have read the differences for some variants would be Dual SIM vs Single SIM, but aside from those, I don't really know much about the variants.
I also checked the USSC Code if the device can be rooted, but it doesn't appear to be so.
So for those devices which aren't Rootable, would there be instances wherein Root can still be achieved even if it's just Temp Root? Has it ever happened to other Sony devices? This is my first Sony android phone, so I don't have experience in Root and Modding aspect of this Manufacturer.
I'd love to have Root, mainly for: debloating, Greenify, Xposed, and Viper4Android.
Any help would be appreciated.
TIA

Hi, it's a full root and it's not hard if you are not a "One clic solution" user. The process is almost the same on nexus or pixel: unlock bootloader -> flash boot/recovery -> flash SuperSu. Download the rootpack for single sim on the Ultra forum and follow carefully the guide on XA forum.A big warning if you use flashtool to update, it can brick your device, on locked bootloader too!

Nope if it says bootloader unlock allowed NO there's nothing you can do to change it to a YES unfortunately it's your network that's locked it down not Sony..

Not yet..though I'd really want this Bootloader unlocked..
What's your LCD Density? Care to share a screenshot, if you don't mind?

LCD density is 340 or 320i think. I was using nova launcher though.
320Dpi looks good, large enough to read stuff on and has additional space, too! Maybe I'll try 320dpi, since mine is still ln default so texts are big! Haha

schok volt sv55 firmware?

i've already unlocked the bootloader but unable to find stock firmware anywhere. it uses a msm8937 (but according to cpu-z it's a msm8917) but i cant find a firehose for qfil or a loader with bklerler's edl tool. i can boot into ffbm mode but it seems it's locked tight unlike other devices where i can gain adb su without rooting the device
saw this thread and wanted to ask if anyone wanted to help me get a boot.img to root it since its from the same odm. it's an assurance wireless free phone

I'd be willing to help with this. I have one of these phones as well. Is there a way we could chat somewhere to have better response times between us?

mods are gonna remove any links to chat apps/groups
let's keep it in the thread for now so anyone else can benefit. i'd read up on firehoses and the edl protocol if you aren't familiar with it. heres an open source tool to interface with devices through edl: https://github.com/bkerler/edl
i've already unlocked my bootloader but have no firehose or loader to connect with my sv55. all i need is that to pull the boot image then i can patch it with magisk and flash it back

Afternoon luridphantom
I have the same question as BigBubbaCJ. I just recently acquired this phone (Schok Volt V55S) and would like to know where to get info on unlocking the bootloader. Not sure I need another ROM, but want to be able to delete all the bloatware (google crap) from this phone and be able to enter "storage" to put music and photo's on. TNX

just do adb reboot bootloader and fastboot oem unlock
plenty of tutorials in xda to show you how to do that

Hey luridphantom
Thanx for the reply and info. A related question: once the bootloader is unlocked, shouldn't you be able to root without flashing another ROM?

no, you need the firmware to do anything with an unlocked device
recovery for building twrp, boot for magisk patching and rooting
so now there is a way to get root but it involves a lot of steps and someone sacrificing their phone for the cause
all we need to do is follow these same steps: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/umx-u696cl-unofficial-root-thread.4446111/
Will this make your phone unusable after doing all these steps?

according to the guy who got root on his 696, yes. 2 phones are required to get root, 1 for the actual flashing and rooting, the other to rescue the first phone with once root has been obtained

As much as I would like to contribute I don't know how to make twrp so I'll just have to wait for somebody to make a tutorial I'll be patient n maybe do some research n try myself but in the mean time thanks you

I take it you found a boot.img to be able to root. Was it for the sv55 (SV55216 build)?.... I need that firmware if you would please share it.
Thanks,
Jaymi

thats not the correct way to read the build, but mine is svv55216_01.01.04.131651
if that matches, feel free to patch this boot with magisk
if not you need to use the recovery i uploaded, build twrp from it then flash it
