Deodex APKs - HTC EVO 3D

So I am running Virus' NV Rom, which is Sense 4.0. The only thing I don't like is that HTC Friend Stream does not work with Facebook and Twitter. I was running Newt's One S 4.0 Port and Friend Stream and the widget work fine. I pulled the apks for Newt's ROM, but they are odex and need to be deodexed in order for them to work on Virus' ROM. I've been reading on how to do it, and what tools to read, but I can't seem to find the right tool. Would anyone familiar with deodexing care to deodex these files I've attached for me. I would greatly appreciate it! It is the FriendStream.apk and it's .odex and HTCFriendStream3Dwidget and it's .odex. Is that all that is needed to do this?
Thanks!

BUMP!
Anyone give some help or advice?

Nobody with deodex experience can help me out? Please? I'll be your BFF!

When I deleted the .odex file and replaced the apk in the /sys/app folder it would not even who up. I think from what I read you have to merge the odex with apk and it requires an apk tool, but I can't find the right one that will work.

Did you change the permissions after you moved it?

DeskClock.apk needed. HELP!

Hi, I was removing the bloatware from my rooted P500 when I accidentally deleted the DeskClock.apk and DeskClock.odex files. I really want that application back. How do I install it again? I tried installing a few other versions, but I refused to install. Can somebody please send me those two files? Will it work if I just copy the app into /system/app/ ??
Thanks

It should. If you aren't using a stock ROM it should be easy, but the .odex files will probably cause some trouble if the ROM is odexed.

Ok here is the process:
Use apktool 1.4.3 to decompile the apk after loading the resource files obviously.
Then make all the modifications you want and recompile with apktool 1.4.2, now open original apk and modded apk with 7zip and replace "resource.arsc" file from modded one to the original one and you are done.
This is how it is done atleast in my case.
If you didn't understand I'll try to write a post with Screenshots if I find some time, hope it did helped you.

Cool I will give it a try in the weekend, and let you know
Thanks Alot!
I wasn't successfully able to decompile/recompile stock framework-res.apk from HTC Vivid 4.03, but I was able to decompile/recompile the one from UOT Kitchen after I did a battery icon mod.
I'd try that if you guys still have problems. You may not actually have to even mod anything, just upload the required files, then download UOT's zip, then decompile/recompile using the tool in this thread.

How do I know if I'm using an Odex rom or Deodex?

(Obviously one way is to read the thread that I got it from..)
But I'm just curious as to how I can tell while I'm on a random Rom.

In the system/app folder, if a ROM is odex, you will see that some apps will have a .apk and also a .odex while deodex ROMs will only have the .apk files.
Thanks Punjabi mundiya.
Appreciate it.

How do I install an apk on a Odex rom?

For example if I grabbed a camera.apk and want to install it on to a odex rom how would I do that? Because in odex it has two files, apk and odex file. Would I have to delete the apk and odex file first in system/apps and then install the camera.apk(drag drop) or what? Yes I'm confused That's what I did, but now I only have the camera.apk alone, no odex file..?? Please explain this to me.
U need the odex file. Ask whoever you got the camera apk from if they have an odex version.

Can someone Deodex these apks for me?

I got my hands on a Sprint Optimus G and extracted some apps I think may work well with the Evo and want to test them out. Any help would be appreciated. Link to the apps is below. Also, if someone wants all the apps I can do that. If I knew how to get the system dump I would just do that.

If you have the Android SDK set up you can deodex them using smali.
https://code.google.com/p/smali/wiki/DeodexInstructions
There are also many good scripts people have put together to automate it, like dsixda's kitchen, tommytomatoe's android utility, etc.
Can't you just copy them over along with the corresponding odex file? They should run that way.

You're saying just put them in the system/app section and they should run? I'm on CM10 at the moment
