[Q] Browser not rendering images when using mobile data - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all, my first post so hope I'm not the only one out there with this issue.
When I use my S3 on a mobile data connection and I go onto a website with multiple images on one page such as River Island (in the mens get the look section from the hompage, sorry I cannot post a link because I am new).
The browser will not download all the product images on the page (especially if it is the first time I have visited that page). It seems to timeout after a certain amount of time (seems to be random depending on the site or page visisted). The problem does not occur when I use the phone over a wi-fi connection.
This gets very frustrating because you cannot see product images for the majority of products when you look at a page with multiple products on it (this issue is not just limited to the example site above). I have tested this on a Samsung Galaxy S2 with ICS and this issue does not occur (using the default in built browser). I've also tried using different browsers such as Chrome and Dolphin and the issue still occurs.
Is anyone else facing this issue or found a way to correct it? I've attached two screenshots to show what I'm talking about.

[Q] Browser Problem

Hi,
I am trying out the Galaxy Tab and I find it to be rather nice to use. However, I have encountered an issue that I have not been able to resolve. I have a favorite web site that I go to at least once a day. It displays poorly with the text over writing other text, to the point it is almost unreadable. The default browser offers the option of Mobile or Standard. The site opens in mobile mode and so I selected Standard and the page gives we an error 404, if I remember correctly.
The other issue is, I need to open a link on the site page that displays a PDF document and another link that plays a MP3 audio file, while staying on the web page. The Galaxy Tab will not allow me to have both open. If I have the PDF file open, I can't get to the MP3 file. If I have the MP3 open, I can't open the PDF without closing the MP3.
I wonder if the site needs Java or some other software to make it display and function correctly? Any ideas what I could be doing wrong.
Strangely, My wife's iP#d1 handles this site with ease. Also, my Google Cr-48 handles it just fine. I am at a loss to figure this out. If I can't solve this problem, the Galaxy Tab goes back tomorrow as I am tired of messing with it.
Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.
I've noticed a few pages the stock browser renders odd, such as quoted text here on xda. Opera mobile works fine, scrolls smoother, and doesn't have text input lag. I'd recommend it.
Thanks for your reply.
I tried Opera, Dolphin HD and Beta 6, Maxthon and of course the default, Chrome. They all produced the same result. So far, only Safari renders and allow the PDF and the audio file to run concurrently.
care to share the two sites hence we can try a work around. try typing the command about:debug in address and hit go. New options will appear in settings, try changing the uid to desktop and rendering normal and disable wide page display. Just for a try!

Thanks for the good tips. Those changes made the browser's display much better. It got rid of the garbled text. Question, will these changes remain after a re-boot or do I need to reset each time?
The other issue of not being able to have multitasking while on the subject site remains. The site that I am trying to fully access is www.torahclass.com. When I select the link to open the audio file and then open the PDF the audio quits. I cannot get back to the web page. If I am on the web page, I can't get back to the PDF.
I just spent one hour at Best Buy and they had five different phone/tablet knowledgeable staff take a turn a making it work. No luck! I asked if it would work on the HP TouchPad and their response was no. However, they claimed the multitasking could be done on the Playbook. We were not able to test their hypothesis due to the fact that the Playbook did not have access to their wi-fi.
So, I am beginning to think that this is an issue with Android and WebOS that remains to be solved by Google and HP. I like the Playbook, but I am concerned about RIM's future. Owners might end up with no support from the mfg.
Anyways, thank you both for your help.
try xiialive app, when clicking on an audio stream in browser choose to play with xiialive and once started press home and continue browsing with the stream playing in background! Issue resolved.
Works. Thank you.

[Q] Browser: Advanced Browser Issues!

I'm using the Advanced Browser, while its a step above the stock browser, I'm afraid its just not good enough to be the device I reach for.
First, it's become increasingly annoying at how often it asks me to login to facebook / forums & I've not been able to find a way to make it remember my login details.
Secondly, the speed of Flash content on facebook/miniclip/gala/lottery etc websites make it pretty unusable.
Last but not least, some websites seem to just keep refreshing constantly. (example: Sky.com/shop)
These are just the main 3 issues i've ran into while trying to "show off" the device to people - and ultimately, end up running to the laptop in order to do what was asked.
So, does anyone know patches/fixes or even a new browser for the touchpad?
I've been looking for improvements too - the issues with drop down boxes, pages not refreshing - staying on the last visited version of the page, and I've only been using it for a few hours!
Is Opera Mini an option?
I have the same issue. I been trying to look for a solution.

Image compression on 3g ?

This thread suggest that jpeg images are being compressed on 3g - has anyone observed this or seen a contradiction ?

Nothing in our lands (Czech Republic, Vodafone). Looks like Verizon proxy issue
Sent from my XT910 using xda premium
You can choose to use "turbo" or "compressed mode" in these browsers, long hold on the picture and choose reload in high quality to get the originals.
Some of us tested several devices with different apps, but same result.
Browsing with 3g and direct clicking of images have artifacts, but 4g and wifi do not. Same with Stumbleupon, stock browser, Dolphin, Xscope, Skyfire and does not matter what agent is being used in the browsers.
Seems some funky proxy issue with VZW when using 3g.
VZW filtering your data sounds like an absolutely massive privacy issue.
Class action lawsuit anyone?
Well looking at the linked thread; it sounds like two people saw compression and two did not. The post above suggesting that some browsers making the dynamic decision seems more reasonable than it being done via proxy given that you can obtain the full image if you wish.

I thought that too, but same results, regardless of apps used. Trying to rationalize a systemic reason as a result.

(Q) why does this happen with ad block apps

i've been using adfree and adaway fine up till 2-3 weeks ago, whenever i visit website using chrome or dolphin browser app(User Agent : Desktop mode) the website is badly messed up (can't post image because i don't have 10 posts). For example: only words showed up , no images, and bullet points in front of article like how a person would take notes. If i disable the adblock app the webpage will work fine (with ads ofc). This seem to happen across multiple devices (HP touchpad nightly, lg g2 (tmobile) stock rooted). The mobile version of the site seem to work but not desktop mode. Really appreciate any help

Browser/Flash Issues on Android

I am rather confused here. I have an Android TV computer (Neo X5) and a Samsung Note N7000. The Neo runs 4.2.2 and the Note 4.1.2 both are rooted (not that I think this matters here).
I am having difficulties streaming video from web sites in some cases. Sometimes the video begins to play and then locks up or just spins doing nothing forever. In other cases, I am told by the browser that the plugin is not supported. Worse still, this varies not only by browser but by device (some browsers work on one device while they fail on other devices - using the exact same web page for the video source).
I have installed Dolphin, Chrome, Opera, and Firefox. I have Flash 11.x installed. It seems like all of the sources are sending Flash. At least when I load the same pages into FF on my Windows XP computer the player is clearly Flash (I can right click on the player and see the Flash version).
I am testing using the following:
video.pbs.org
startrek.com/video
billmoyers.com/video
Can anyone explain this odd behavior? I am in the USA so location shouldn't be an issue. Right now I have all the browsers installed and get by using the ones that work for each site. But this seems crazy to me.
Thanks.
Perhaps a step in answering my own question:
Well, I found this list of browsers on Android supporting Flash <http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2234684> which is informative. Then I did some noodling around looking at the page source for each of the video sources I am trying to run (PBS, StarTrek, Bill Moyers). Of these, only StarTrek is clearly trying to run the Flash player. PBS seems to be using something called JWPlayer <http://www.jwplayer.com/>. And Bill Moyers seems to be using something called PowerPress Player <http://create.blubrry.com/resources/powerpress/using-powerpress/>. It seems as if these last 2 may be downloadable plugins that are not Flash after all (which is strange because when I run the same videos successfully in FF on Windows all are clearly using the Flash Player). So maybe I am finding that these last two items are simply not compatible with the various browsers.
What I still am finding hard to understand is why my results vary by device. But it may be Android version differences of some sort instead of something different in the device itself. I also suppose that the version of the browser apps may vary by device and/or Android version and maybe as such the pages delivered to the browser based upon user-agent, etc may be different and this could explain why things differ.
