[Q] can Bootanimation ever work on a STOCK ICS ROM/Kernel - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

although i kind of think the answer is rom/kernel related but i was wondering if it is even possible to make stock rom/kernel to recognize and take bootanimation.zip
on XWLPG stock at the moment and love to figure out a way to use the BIOS bootup animation but unfortunately i think i have to go to another kernel to do that but i would rather stay with stock etc.
any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Search the CF-Root thread for the text "Help! Which file do I use?" Should explain what you need to know.
Your stock kernel will be in Intratech's carrier branded firmware thread. Search for your original kernel version (BOKG2) and location. (I'm guessing UK?)

Really? Even if you're using the XDA app, the search button is easily accessible. And besides which, both threads are available through the sticky in the General section. You could have easily found both in the amount of time it took you to post that message.

You only need the kernel to root your device.
As quoted by chainfire:
Go to Settings -> About phone -> Kernel Version. Note the string present there:
2.6.35.7-I9100XXKG1-CL349526
What matters most (KG1) in this case, is in bold. Try to find the matching file under downloads:
CF-Root-SGS2_XX_OXA_KG1-v4.1-CWM4.zip

So this file will do the job i think (I'm not sure- maybe a developper can help here)

I'm cocky? I told you exactly where to find the information. No links, but I still told you where to look.
You violated rules 1, 2.1, and 2.3 of the forum rules. And I'm the jerk?
First of all op when you sign up to XDA you agree to the rules one being to search XDA is a development site and this has been answered over and over no excuse due to tapatalk since every phone has mobile browser and the stickys are still there at top of forums.
Second your use of language is against forum rules anything more like this and infractions will be placed on account....

exactly. just put on external then boot into recovery and flash kernel. no need to wipe anything. thats it. now youll have overclocking. you will still need to use setcpu or something else to set oc where you want it since your not on any custom rom. as long as your rooted and booted your good to go!
and not to be mean but next time put this in the q&a threads. just a heads up...be cool.
thnx again
Ok thnx allot....Q&A ? Is that the questions and answer part ? Sorry I thought I wad in the right place......anyways thnx for the help..

LOL.
Yes you can. Feel free to flash any kind of kernel on your S3 with a dual boot option from the XDA S3 forum, they're all good.
Just make sure it's a S3 kernel as we wouldn't want you bricking your phone now would we.

Pls don't post questions on Samsung Galaxy S II I9100 sub-forum related to another device.
If you have searched a little you would have found at least this: Detailed guide how to dual boot on SGS3 with Siyah kernel.

Stock ROM is STILL the stablest and WILL be still the stablest.
If you search for the best ROM, there is NO best ROM.
I ask this because I have other devices and in other devices there are plenty of stable and fully functional custom roms.....
Also, I do a little bit of moding on roms, specially on MIUI, therefore I don't understand what is your surprise when people ask a question such as this....

Yes, I just said Stock ROM is/will be the stablest ROM for our device.
¿U mad bro¿
Ynt: GT-S5839i
There is not so much open source drivers for our device especially hw gl drivers. Because of this the custom roms and the stock based roms cant be stable as the stock one. If broadcom releases the drivers bieltv waiting for, may be the cm 7 will be the first faster and stable rom that we were waiting so long...
S5830i Stock + Root + init.d + Ligtning script + Link2SD
ok thanks a lot.
Its a pitty.
Also, 2 questions:
A) is there a way of making bluetooth always discoverable and end the time limit?
This is a pain specially pairing it with my car systems. Should be straight forward.
B) can we change the battery icon to percentage within stock settings?
I can't find anywhere.
UOT kitchen is down for so long and I can't cook a battery icon.
2 stupid limitations from stock roms....
Thanks
