[Q] Unlocked bootloader. How to update ? - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

I have unloked bootloader (sony's method) and ics 4.0.3.
I want to update to ics 4.0.4 (rom for Greece , not the generic) , but pc companion tells me that i have modified rom and cannot update.
Is there any way to get the latest official update 4.0.4 for my country ?

Re-lock the bootloader!
flash this with flashtool
http://www.mediafire.com/?g1b5j712ajx4yjd
you can re-unlock the bootloader again after the update (I did so several times)
p.s. i used the official SE method to unlock the bootloader

Will try. Thanks.

Worked !!!
I installed official 4.0.4 with sus and then rooted the phone.
Feels fast , faster than custom roms.

next time, please dont open up a new thread for this. a lot of people with the same problem as yours have been answered. just a friendly reminder. this is a development forum.

Rooting/Unlocking my new Play

Hi,
New to the Xperia Play but am confident in rooting through other devices, X10, Galaxy S2, Armani S etc.
Now in the guides it asks to flash the .181 before upgrading to .184 if not an unlocked bootloader or flashing .184 direct if it is unlocked.
I am currently using .145 which isnt listed in the guide.
Can anyone confirm if there's a difference or if I'm on a ROM which can't have the bootloader unlocked??
Thanks.
Edit: I can connect via fastboot and get a version 0.3 returned after doing the getjar version command. So really, is the .184 the best update to go to as opposed to a .145?
Follow this guide here. Just flash the .184 then root and then ota update to 2.3.3. You will be rooted on 2.3.3 build .145.
builds;
R800i:
3.0.A.2.181 // 7X30A-AAABQMAZM-1290_14-10 (forgot android version)
3.0.A.2.184 // 7X30A-AAABQMAZM-1290_14-14 (2.3.2)
3.0.1.A.0.145 // 7X30A-AAABQMAZM-1290_21-22 (2.3.3)
.145 is not listed because gingerbreak doesnt work on 2.3.3 and is the latest version you are upgrading to. It only works on builds .181 or .184 so you need to flash the previous version (.184 (2.3.2) in the guide above, you dont need to flash .181 and .184 just the previous version or 2.3.3 which is .184) for root access to succeed then use ota to keep root.
If you bought an r800i then the bootloader is unlockable. Go here if you want to unlock http://unlockbootloader.sonyericsson.com/instructions but if all you want is root then unlocking the bootloader is not needed atm (just follow the guide in the link above) you can unlock later if you want to install cm7 when the bugs are worked out or any other custom rom.

.184 is 2.3.2, .145 is 2.3.3 the latest version out atm you only need to go to .184 so rooting with gingerbreak will work then you use ota to upgrade to .145 with root still enabled

ray: how to get back to real Stock firmware?

hey,
i flashed cyanogenmod on my ray.. but after all u flashed the stock rom again from this forum (ftf via flashtool).
the thing is that SE companion software says (if i want to update /repair my firmware) that the firmware is modified and it wonmt update it. now my question: do i now always have to flash the new roms (for example when ICS will come) or is there a method to get back to the real stock rom so that SE companion will update/repair the firmware?
im on android 2.3.4. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1316070)
its rooted and the kernel is still the one from the cyanogenmod (i think- well, i didnt flash any new kernels after cyanogenmod..just flashed the rom)
bootloader is unlocked
hope you can help me..thx
yes after unlocking bootloader you always have to install stock firmwares via flash tool
use wotan server , it is a great way to install stock rom
hmm okay thanks! .. btw is there a way to lock the bootloader again so i can install the firmware with SE again?
thanks for the tip!

[Q] LWW Orange v62 with locked bootloader

Hi. I have problem with my SE becouse i update my phone to v62. I cant root becouse is not possible on this soft version. I cant unlock bootloader cuz bootAllowed=no . I can install fresh ROM via flashtool? When no what i must do? Please help. (Sorry for my english).
You can only install a fresh stock .58 rom via flashtool or wotanserver then root it then update it .62 (now with root) then install clockworkmod recovery. You then have to pay to unlock your bootloader. You can't install custom full roms and custom kernels w/out unlocking bootloader.

Hello, I used this thread as a guideline to root my phone.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1568792
Basically I had to downgrade the firmware to .42 with the ftf file on that thread flashing it with flashtool (link for flashtool also provided in that thread), use zergrush to gain root access and install both busybox and Superuser.apk (it's fixed in .62 so you can no longer gain root with zergrush) and then update the phone using OTA back to .62. Updating to .62 does not make you lose root access. All you need should be in that thread.
If you want to unlock the bootloader to install custom roms and kernel I can't point you to a method that works for sure since I have no intention of unlocking mine as I am quite happy with the stock rom but there are plenty of threads on this forum about it.
Hope this helps!

[Q] ICS available but no update

According to the sony site my phone is available to get ICS.
My SI Number is : 1256-1931
I am with Three.
I do not get a prompt on my phone or Sony Companion to update. Is their a way to force the update?
I have not got a unlocked bootloader since i don't want to void my 2 year warranty.
Anyone else having this problem?
Thanks
Just flash the Sony ICS frmware by using Flashtool. You don't have to unlock your bootloader and it will not void your warranty.
You have to use 4.1.B.0.431 firmawre.
You can download it from here, its on the first page of the post.
ICS Firmware
Did you try install drivers to reconize the cel on pc? Maybe that...
If you have branded firmware, carrier might have blocked the updates for you.

Xperia NEO 0% battery issue , and "anowing bootloader unlock= NO"

HI, I wanted to root an Xperia Nei mt15i, i found an article with a step by step guide ,which said downgrade the firmware to 2.3.2 then gingerbreak etc etc, and well now the phone says that the battery is empty, and i cant install a custom firmware becouse i cant unlock the bootloader, so i cant get in fastboot mode, anyone can help please?
To root you dont need unlocked bootloader.
follow this guide
http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/35239
Flash .42 firmware NOT .62
then root
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1312859
After that use Over the air update to have latest .62 firmware or if you dont care stay with .42
You will be rooted with locked bootloader
(BE CAREFUL YOU NEED XPERIA NEO FIRMWARE NOT XPERIA NEO V!!!)

Thanks, and will this fix the battery issue?? Ive downloaded the 4.0.2.A.0.42 firmware from the site you wrote, but in flashtool it seems "empty" no firmware content, and nothing in the other columns...:S
Where did you read that you need to downgrade to 2.3.2??
Now you killed your battery gauge and it's unrecoverable hardware failure. Only permanent fix is replace in service shop.
There are some custom kernels which have 0% fix, there is even fix for locked BL's, for more information read this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1312398
If your phone is under warranty, you can try giving it for repair under warranty.
