[Q] Lock screen wallpaper borders? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have just changed my lock screen wallpaper and now there are to think black lines running vertically down each side of the screen these are not present on the ripple screen only after i have swiped ready to put my pattern in they appear it is like the wallpaper moves position slightly i have tried to change back to the default screen but it is still happing where they like this to start off with or am i going nuts???

postimage.org/image/6cm1iujxz this is the ripple screen
postimage.org/image/p3nyt0eif this is the lock screen with the lines down the side?

You're not going nuts. The same thing started happening to me all of a sudden. I changed the wallpaper and everything was fine (for sure!). At some point that border appeared, I don't really remember when it was or what caused it but I can't get it to go away.
I know it's a little OCD crazy, but these little things drive me nuts.

Lockscreen colour issue

Hi Guys
My sgs 3 has a strange pattern on the lockscreen wallpapers, if they are dark you can see like brighter areas, bits of say a full black wallpaper show as grey.
I did think the screen was faulty but when I use same wallpapers for home screen/view pics/movies this problem is not there, its only on the lockscreen wallpaper, If I use a very bright one its hard to see but any black/dark red/blue/dark green will show this odd blotch...mainly right side.
Thanks for any help
Settings>Security>Lock screen options
Untick "Ripple effect".
Is there some issue with the phone? Movies/games/pics all fine, I just get strange blotch on lockscreen, and what makes it even stranger if I use a live wallpaper on the lockscreen its fine,i only get the problem if i set a picture for the lockscreen 9worse with dark colours)

As B3311 just pointed out, turn off ripple effect and the weird pattern on lockacreen is gone. It needs to be there in order to be able to create the ripple effect.
Hi
I saw the post but I am just keen to find out what/why its there, you say it needs to be but that seems like a odd thing for Samsung to have, is there other posts covering this as I would like to find out if this is a samsung tech reply (its normal) or if its been seen by us and thats an answer we have came to.
thanks

[Q] Problem with lockscreen wall

Hey guys,
after i changed my lockscreen wallpaper from the default wall to my favorite wall, the gap between wall and display frame became bigger...i have no idea why the gap became bigger, pls help...when i change to live wallpaper everything is normal
has nobody a solution its freakin me out, pls help
I have no idea why this is happening. But whenever I use a normal picture as a lockscreen wallpaper, with the ripple effect turned OFF this happens.

Ripple effect does not work with PIN, pattern unlock etc. so... it looks weird and annoys me to no end.
I am having similar issues but with the unlock screen where you draw your unlock pattern.

[Q] Lockscreen issue - incorrect image ratio (margins at sides)

Hi, I've been having this issue whereby the lockscreen in the Swipe is CORRECT, but the image that is displayed after swiping (during pattern unlock) is distorted. I get extra black bars on the left and right of the image.
This issue only happened once I first changed the default lockscreen (dandelion one) to another image. Changing it back to the default dandelion one doesn't fix the issue.
Btw, you can see what I mean from the 2 pictures.

hope someone has an idea >_<
This happens to me too. However, I always use a pitch black wallpaper on lockscreen to save battery.. so I don't really care

bump again =.=
Today I received the XXALF6 update. The lockscreen black margins are gone, but the image is still forced to sit under the notification bar. (which is not the original default behaviour)

Lockscreen issue - grey blacks (more so at sides)

Hey, I got another issue yesterday. When the "ripple" (water) effect is active in the lockscreen options, the wallpaper basically lightens the right side of any wallpaper selected. If the wallpaper happens to be a pure black wallpaper, the lockscreen actually displays a GREY image, with a lighter shade of grey on the right side of the screen. It works fine though on the homescreen if the same image is selected, which is kinda odd. Mind you, it was working perfectly before this.
Also, today I noticed some "loophole" that allows me to select live wallpapers in the "home and lock screen", which I could not perform prior to this. Trying to change the "lock screen" though, does not give me the "live wallpaper" option (which is the normal behaviour).

yup i noticed this also must be needed to create ripples i mean the water needs to bounce off something right? loljk
it's only on the lockscreen with the ripple effect active.

No. Previously it was purely black, it only happened yesterday. =.=|| When you first get the phone, these issues are not there. I already owned the phone for 18 days or so.
EDIT: nvm, just realised you put "loljk" there >_<
bump still having this issue even with XXALF6 update
I'm gonna bump this as it just happened to me as well. Any fixes?
I think it's on all phones but you guys didn't notice
No it wasn't there when I first got the phone. I had a black lock screen without issues for a moment, and then this issue popped out of nowhere. Problem still persists until now. It only happens in the stock lock screen and not for widget locker etc.

The problem just randomly popped up for me too. After about a week of working properly. pretty strange problem.

I'm gonna bump this again, just in case someone found a fix for it.
Same Problem Exists
I'm bumping this too as I can confirm the same issue. A fix would be appreciated Samsung.
Seems to be a problem only when the lock screen background is very black. Also same issue, rooted I-9300. But downloading a different lock screen helps (I'm using holo lock screen, which looks like the JB lock).

Security/2nd screen notification question

Now that Verizon has fixed the fingerprint scanner/case issue, I'd like to start using the scanner but have run into something somewhat annoying.
Before the software upgrade, the notifications on the 2nd screen had a black background/white font (I had no lock screen security, only swipe to unlock the screen). To use the scanner, I have to set up a PIN but, with that PIN set-up, the 2nd screen notifications are now bright white instead of the preferred black - to me, the white is so glaring...guess I'm picky like that.
Anyone know of a way to get the black background instead of the white, while still being able to use the scanner? I'm pretty sure this is a "feature" of having the lock screen security set up but was hoping someone might have run into this and found a solution on how to get back to the black banner.
Thanks!
