[Q] SGs2 Roms Phone Lock wont work - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have the T989 version, although i love my phone it seems that ever since ive started to use different roms my lock screen wont turn on, i cant get it to swipe, pattern, face unlock or anything. Its either screen on or off. Is this normal? Whenever i even restored my original gingerbread rom it still doesnt work.
One more thing, when you hold the power button it usually gives you an option to put it on silent or vibrate or plane mode, well when i press power and hold it it just turns off. What is really going on guy, any help would be great thanx!

You should probably ask here. Though it sounds like your missing your /efs/imei/keystr file.

thanx

"there" is the forum for the T989. You can post there. Should probably go to the Q&A forum there instead of here, which is the forum for the I9100. (which is a different model than what you have)
Better there than here, else people point you to do something specific for the I9100, which could potentially brick your phone.

have you checked your settings?
Settings> Security > Screen Lock
it may be on None

Hardware Button Lights stay on even when phone's in sleep mode

Anyone know why my hardware button lights don't turn off? I'm not overclocking or anything
Android doesn't support controlling the keyboard/button backlights, so if they're on in WM before loading Android, they'll stay on as long as the device is in Android, and if they aren't lit up when in Android, they will not light up. The only solution is to make sure the hardware buttons are not lit up before booting into Android.

One of the solutions is to turn off auto-backlight control in WinMo. This way you don't have to worry about WinMo tripping the backlight right as you're trying to run haret.
The easiest way to do it is when you open the xdandroid app in winmo, before you hit "run android" press the top button to turn off the screen, then turn it back on, then hit "run android." Works for me all the time

well lights are still on after i did this:
task29
flashed rom
reflashed hard spl
any other suggestions on what i can do to fix it?
thanx in advance
If they stay on even in WinMo, there *may* be a hardware issue. Have you tried flashing back to stock?
im goin to try that today
I'm having exactly the same problem. Can you tell me if you found any solution to solve this issue?
Anyone get a solution to this? I've tried flashing back to stock and the keys still stay lit.

If your lights never turn off in WinMo, something is wrong with the phone's hardware I would think.
As was stated previously, if you boot Android with these lights on in WinMo they will stay on in Android. There's a patch in the works to fix this issue...
Try a new battery. I had similar issues with battery not fully charging changing the battery cleared it up. Sprint gives batteries for free.

[Q] lg optimus one home/airplane/silent/lock functions gone

Hello I dont know if this question respects only the LG O1 but I am gonna start from here.
I had my phone on my desk and suddenly I found out that
the lock screen is gone (when I press the lock button the screen just turns off)
the home button was not working - responding alone
the airplane and silent mode were gone only power off selection existed when I had the lock button pressed
and all my calls were automatically reset.
I tried to reboot and remove the buttery and/or SIM but no luck. I dont want to factory reset at all is there anything I can do throw the ADB shell. Any place were I can look at
I am experiencing the exact same problem since late last night. In addition the Home button and Search button do not work (when pressed they illuminate the screen - since there is no lock anymore) however do not carry the intended function (of returning to home menu or searching).
Can someone please help! I have already sent 2 random (and one embarrassing ) SMS to people on my contact list.
I know one easy way so READ CAREFULLY
1: find and install "Power Control Plus" widget from market.
2: Add Lock on/off widget to background and disable.
It's that easy
So this is just for the lock I will see something about other stuff u said.
Thanks ljubisa_sk
Unfortunately the widget does not lock the screen - actually it has no effect nether this, nor other 'screen locker' apps in the market
My phone is branded and locked to Three Ireland (H3G).
Does anyone know whether there was some sort of OTA update rolled out automatically or something similar?
I know this is old and the issue still remains.
However, what I have seen now is that when I put the phone on airplane mode, the screen lock appears and I can slide to unlock.
As soon as the airplane mode is off, I get back to the same symptoms.
Can anyone help please??? I am really getting annoyed with my phone.

but the phone is 2 months old only - I'd rather not void the warranty.
I was hoping for a solution here as I'm not in Ireland anymore to send it to the Three store.
Better void warranty, lg os is the most crappy thing I've experienced.after first inversion of void Rom I was stunned by it's speed and with the touchscreen fix you will experience new powers of this cheap phone.I've voided my warranty in the first month . Good luck.

Screen turns on when on call using bluetooth headset

Hello everybody.
I have a rooted 4.0.4 XXLFB Galaxy S3 and have noticed a problem.
Whenever I'm on a call using my blueooth headset, the screen turns on once every 30 seconds, give or take.
It's a problem because if I have the phone in my pocket, sometimes I mute the call, other times I turn off the headset...
Does anybody know how to solve this?
Thanks in advance.
Posting to add a "me too" to the list. Trying a ton of different things, almost to the point of clean device.
Hit the button and the screen turns off, about 2-5 seconds later, screen turns back on. Does not matter what I do. Seems to do it with speakerphone option too. If neither Bluetooth nor speakerphone are used, and you put the phone to your ear, backlight stays off. Otherwise, it automatically turns back on by itself. Tried with wifi on/off, speaker with bt on/off, different headsets, etc. My Wife's does not have this issue, so I gotta look into what is different. There has gotta be a setting or app installed that is doing this. I've even tried apps such as screebl and others. Some even had a thing to say lock it off till press button, and it still comes back on after 2-5 seconds. I've muted and hung up on many people when the phone was in my pocket because of this issue.
I've not used a BT headset but i'm thinking that maybe because the phone isn't against your head the screen comes on. possibly to give you information about the caller.
I'm not saying you should put the phone to your head even though your using bluetooth either.
thanks, but, don't help, tried that too. Had entire top half of phone covered during most tests. Screen does not turn off unless I press button, then comes back on automatically after 2-5 seconds. I did find one app today that seemed to work, but not sure if it works too well "Smart Screen Off".
Sounds silly but have you tried locking the handset?
That's what I meant by pressing the button. Button on right side that if I am not on a call, turns off screen and locks it.
Ok - narrowed it down a ton. If I leave the in-call status screen up, the screen turns back on after being turned off via power button. If I hit home or have any other screen active, it remains off. So dialer related, but I can deal with an extra button press.

agree with the above. if you leave call status up while connected via BT headset, screen remains active (comes in and out). if you exit active call status (ie press home) then the screen timeout works. if you are talking on the phone without headset, no problem.
so yes, that's the prob. any solid fix yet?
please and thanks....

Thanks a lot, visegrip. It was really frustating having to redial every other call because i hang up without noticing.
Any solution to this problem? Hitting a home button and locking the phone is not an option when I keep my phone in a leather holster on my belt. That's a main reason for having bluetooth as hands free.
Problem solved by using Tasker. If anyone need APK patch file to fix a problem, let me know and I'll post it here

You know, I use tasker and have been trying to figure this out for a while. I've also been trying Secure settings and Locale Using multiple settings and plug-ins. I have not been able to create anything yet that seems completely reliable.
Not trying to be rude or anything, but I am and always have been a little leary of installing APK files unless I know the source. However, if you would be so kind to post the contexts and tasks so that I may enter them myself manually, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Well, It's pretty easy.
Profile -> Phone Offhook
Task:
Wait 20 seconds
App-> Go Home
Display -> System Lock
In case if you'll have any problems just use my apk file which is exactly the same.
Good news! I just took the Jelly Bean update from sprint & this problem is FIXED!
I tried calling and turned off the screen and it stayed off!
I also called and didn't touch the screen and after the timeout, it turned itself off!
Hmmmmm... OK. Thank you. I'll have to try that and see how it works. I was looking, hoping and working on trying to get something that would keep the screen off. Dialing, talking and ending the call. I've got something that seems to work for the most part, (I still get quick flashes, which is fine) but still have some more work to do on it.

WEIRDEST trouble in the history of i9100!! Is here!

Hey all, mods please delete my other thread as this will sum it up..
Hey devs, I'm facing a strange issue, really strange, I've been flashing roms for 2 years and never faced anything like this..:
It's all about the power button.. whenever I hold it, it doesn't show the options "reboot, turn off, airplane mode".. NO, it just turns off immediately..
The other strange thing:
If I turned screen off, it doesn't even make the sound "tick", and even if I put a password or any lock likd "slide" it doesn't make any affect.. screen is all open..
What the heck is wrong with my phone? Is it a curse
This could be a Unclean Flash and/or The Mainboard of you S2 is f***ed up
Try a other Rom and if it still acts wierd do the Whole Procedure with Reflashing an Original Sammy Rom via odin + Fullwipe and everything
Ofcourse the Powerbutton only could be the Problem (It doesnt release properly anymore)

[Q] X10 Mini Pro bricked while locking bootloader

Hi!
I installed "U20_nAa-14_2.6.29.6-nAa-14" and "MiniCM7-2.2.1-mimmi" on my phone. The mobile network didn't worked, so I tried closing back the bootloader. I made it with "s1tool relock.exe", and it really closed it back. The instructions I followed while doing it, said that I shouldn't start the phone after doing the relocking and disconnecting it from the computer. Accidentally I switched it on, and now it won't turn on. Only the startup vibration and green led flash. If I connect it to the computer it keeps connecting and deconnecting, I don't know how to open up the bootloader again if it's possible at all.
Is it repairable?
Thank you for your help.

Flash THIS with flashtool. The download is about 213 MB, although it may say differently when downloading, just wait till it's finished.
It's original Sony Ericsson Firmware and can be flashed on a device with a locked bootloader. Not sure about the version, although it says 2.1.1.A.0.6, it may be older, but i don't have a U20, so I can't check. It should be possible to upgrade it with Sony Update Service if it's an older version. Good luck.
Thank you!
It worked. Can I ask that too, is there a safest way to solve the no network problem?

Depends on your simlock certificate or how your phone was unlocked from it's original network. There are two or three methods (msm_7227_semc, msm_7227_setool2, and maybe one for omnius too) , just try them and check if you get a signal before you flash any custom firmware. If you don't get a signal, relock it again and try a different method.
Flashtool used to be quite good at figuring out which method worked best, but I don't know if that still supports unlocking 2010 devices. I've got 0.9.13 and there is a BLU (Bootloader UnLock) button.. just try that
I opened it again with msm7227_semc, bacuse the others didn't worked, and installed it again. Now everything is fine, but the home button and the screen lock still not works:/ I think I'll leave it this way, and not risk one more time my network connection.
Thanks for your help.

If it's unlocked and the network is still there you can do whatever you want with it There's no need to lock it ever again so you can experiment with kernels and roms all you want.
What was the matter with the home-button and the screenlock? Do the other buttons work and is the screen ok when you slide out the keyboard?

The other buttons are all fine, and the home looks fine too, just the only way to use it is to turn on the screen with it. Which hasn't got a lock on it, when I push any button, it switches right to the home screen. Turning on lock patterns and others didn't helped. Maybe can I use external applications to substitute the functions?

Hmm, sounds a bit like the ROM doesn't want to go to sleep. Maybe you could reboot into recovery, and wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache and wipe dalvik-cache (from the advanced menu). I'm sure you already did that, but it can't hurt to do it again, and see if that fixes the problem
The phone should enter deep-sleep after about 5 seconds after the screen is turned off, in which case the only way to wake up the screen are the power-button and the home-button. pressing menu or back should keep the phone asleep. If after about 10 or 20 seconds you can still wake up the screen with the back or menu buttons you might want to check if there's an app keeping the phone awake.
Done factory reset and cache wipe already multiple times. Just realized how annoying is the dysfunctional home button, so I tried MiniCM7-2.2.0, MiniCM9-3.0.5 with nAa-11,13,14 and nAa-ics-04. Unfortunatley didn't worked the home button or the screen lock with none of them. At first time, I installed the MiniCM10, but the phone was relatively slow with it and buzzed, so I switched to MiniCM7.
Screen timeout and turnoff delay both set to immediately, but even the camera button can turn on the screen no matter how many time elapses. Can the original MiniCM apps keep it awake? I installed a task killer, but no change.

If it happens on all ROMS, maybe it's your home-button keeping the phone alive, as in that it makes continuous contact. Wouldn't know what to do about that though. Does it happen on stock firmware too?

No, when I restored it with the Sony Update Service everything worked fine on the stock 2.1, and it is still possible to turn on the screen with the home button, but it's other functions are out.
Wow, this time I didn't installed the gapps like it was written in the CM wiki (http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_mimmi), both the home button and screen lock works. Why it is written in the "Install CM for mimmi" article if the gapps on the download page is for MiniCM10?
Whatever, shame on me, I should've just take it seriously, and not follow the instructions blindly.:silly:
