OTG adapter on rogers. - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

I read before that the OTG adapter does not work with the i717r but i recently flashed the onlyOne rom and the about menu shows as i717. Before i buy the adapter (which i have to get from the states unless someone knows a cheap place in the GTA) i just want to know if it will likely work.

It all depends on the rom that you are running. Not sure what it was now but it was GB (memory sux), but with whatever rom it was, flash drives worked fine but the card reader didn't work. I recently tried the Unofficial CM9 and again the flash drive worked fine, but the card reader only worked sometimes. A few times it popped up with errors saying the card was damaged and wanted to format it. I did NOT let it format and it worked fine after a reboot. But the real winner of this story is the flappjaxxx ICS rom.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1664980
My card reader works great with this rom and I trust it for use at work.
As far as i717R, i717D, i717M, they are all the same physically......just different bloatware for each canadian provider.

My phone was a rogers phone and it appeared to have no otg capability when I got a cable from ebay. I'm now using the onlyone Rom and still no otg. I'm buying another cable to see if there's something wrong with the one I bought so I'm waiting to try another cable out.
There's really cheap cables on ebay and amazon, but then I don't know if that is the root of my problem.

[answered] usb data cable

my P6800 didnt came with an USB data cable, and I'm gonna need it to flash roms, adb and transfer large volumes of data.
I've looked on ebay and ordered one that was compatible with P1000.
I've then asked the seller if he knew if it was compatible with P68x0 and he said it isnt!
anyone can confirm that? I assumed all samsung tablets would use the same port (aka upside down iPad)!
if it isnt, I better cancel the shipping ASAP!

Yes any Samsung type 30 pin cable should work.

It will definitely work. I am using one of those generic type which I bought previously for my tab 7 and subsequently used it for the past 7 plus and now present 7.7

SD card slot spring is broken.

I'm thinking of buying an htc hero for $20 but the guy says the sd card slot is broken and doesn't click when you push in the card. Is there a way to fix it? I mean for $20 it seems like a good deal since it's 2.1, still newish and apparently works great. So if I do buy it I'm going to try and fix the spring since my sd card has everything I need from my old phone.
Glue it in place
That might work. Then again it might not.
Just make sure the pins on the SD are touching the pins on the device and it will work, 100%

No SIM CARD error Galaxy Note

Ok guys i know there are a few threads already created for this error, however; I haven't seen a solution yet, So i'm creating this thread in hopes that we can compile all the information about this, and maybe find a solution,
Here's the story, I bought an Unlocked Galaxy note SGH-i717D on ebay about a year ago, the phone was working like a charm and it loved it , then a few months later i started getting a "NO SIM Inserted" error message.
The SIM card was pretty old so I went to my carrier and changed it. That seemed to do the trick and it worked fine until a few weeks ago, when the damn error showed up again. I'm literally getting this error message every day, making the phone impossible to use.
I've tried EVERYTHING:
1- I ruled out the SIM card being faulty since it's new and it works on other phones
2- Made sure the SIM was making contact with the pins
3- Put Scotch tape on the SIM to make it fit better on the SIM slot
3- Deleted cache
4- Rooted my phone and installed titanium backup to delete all user and system app cache
5- flashed the original rom back into my phone
Nothing seems to work (the titanium backup method works for a few hours/days) so please if any of you know the solution to this issue please let me know.
I highly appreciate any help!
Sim card slots go bad some times. A samsung repair shop can replace it in minutes.
mine went out. i havent paid any attention to it. ive noticed alot of notes have this.

yup i've read a lot about it, it doesn't seem to be a problem with the hardware, cuz it works fine when I delete the cache, i've read it has to do with the 3g/4g band the phone is working with, that may cause the issue, but then again nobody's been able to confirm this.
Having the same problem.
No SIM
Baseband: Unknown
IMEI: Unknown
Can't restore with KIES.
Mine was under warranty so I just returned it for an exchange. Got a new SIM, no changes. A factory reset fixed it for a short period.

So I rooted my phone and installed titanium backup like i mentioned on my first post, there's an option on Titanium backup called CLEAR cache for all user and system apps, that seems to do the trick at least for a few hours and some time days.
Sounds like what you guys may need is the sim card port replacement. whatever you do do not send your phone to samsung if you arent under warranty, you will be broke when your done with them. the part is 7$ including shipping on ebay, you can type in sim card port to find it. it is very easy to install, if you dont feel comfortable you can bring it to a shop.

My phone have the same problem. But is the t-mobile note (sgh-t879). Can I use this parts for fix my phone?
You can easily find the parts for the tmobile version too. Ebay is where I start looking for parts.
Hi i am having the same issue on my Galaxy Note i717R (Canadian Version - originally from Rogers Network) , would appreciate if you could share a solution with me too .
This happened on my i717 just after warranty ran out (of course). It first started off with losing the use of 4g so I couldnt make calls and only could use lte data. Then the radio would stop working and nothing worked. I then restarted my phone and no sim card inserted error. Eventually it would work again but last night I was using the phone and data with no problem but nothing can fix the error today. I'm stuck using the desire HD unless I can figure this out.

No solution so far
I've had this same problem. Reset system and use caches with Titanium Backup but this didn't last. Reset to the original ROMs (Samsung update to Android 4.1 ) did not help. Finally I bought and replace the sim and microsdcard reader (which was remarkably easy to do), This didnt help either. Anyone have a solution?

WTF? it seems like its a software issue then, this is so weird! I read somewhere that it may be the band the phone works with, I'm in Costa Rica so the 3g, 4g bands that we use here may be a bit different and could be causing the problem, then again i know NOTHING about cell phone band frequencies....
This is what's been working for me, I delete cache using titanium back up and then leave the phone off through the night, this method seems to work for a a few weeks maybe a month and when i get the error message again i repeat the process. Also make sure the pins on the sim tray are touching the sim card I noticed on my phone they were a little low so i took a needle and lift them up a bit.
Anyways I really got sick of the error, so I'm changing the sim card tray, if that doesn't work I'm getting rid of this phone.
replaced sim tray and problem is still there...wtf

I was having the same problem. The error would hapoen 10+ times a day sometimes.
I replaced the sim card reader, stil happened. Flashed new rom and modem, didn't fix thr problem.
Started rooting around, thought that maybe the piece of case that sits under the leading edge of the sim card lifts it up, occasionally breaking sim contact when it flexed.
Took a screwdriver and bent the three contacts out some more, now it only happens occasionally.
I think I may be onto something here.

Are you using a full-size sim or a small sim inserted in an adaptor? I have had issues with the small sim.
Don't quote, reply. If you quote, edit.
was using a micro then switched to a full size sim...it actually fried the first full size sim then had to go back to tmobile to get another one..it seems the bottom of the sim tray seems to lift up on the bottom...

Will my S II sdcard work if no sim card inserted?

I have a Samsung S II and no matter what I do I can't get it to read the sdcard. I've tried several sdcards but still the same result, it won't recognize it.
The only thing I can think of (apart from a faulty sdcard slot) is that I don't have a sim card in the phone.
Does the S II need a sim card inserted in order for the sdcard to work?
If not, does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can get the sdcard to work?
BTW the phone is totally stock and it's Australian, unlocked but originally with Optus.
One strange thing is that everything in the back of the phone seems upside down. The battery contacts are on the left not the right, the sdcard goes in upside down and on the right not the right way up and on the left. The sdcard slot is directly underneath the sim card.
I hope so someone can help.
cheers
I no longer use my S2 so it has no sim in it, popped a sdcard in just now & can read/access it just fine.
Sticker on the phone chassis under the battery, what does it say ? (Where did you get the phone ?).
Card not reading is non of the sim card business.

Thanks.
Sticker says as follows:
MODEL: GT-I9100
SSN: -19100GSMH
RATED: 3.7V
FDD ID: A9LGT9100
and a big CE0168
Remove your IMEI. They can be nicked/re-used.
Where did you get the phone - reason I ask is your comment about battery contacts/position of sim slot/etc.

Thanks I removed the IMEI.
I bought it from a samsung reseller. I was told the reason the contacts and sim card are like they are is because it was originally made for use with the Optus network
Really ? Interesting. Reason I ask is we've seen our share of knock-offs on here over the past 2+ yrs, and they tend to have differences like the ones you've mentioned. Or they can sometimes be other SGS2 variants even though they're branded as I9100's.
Re: the SD problem, if it were me, try the obvious first - try it with a sim. After that, I'd probably do a clean install of stock, even though your phone already is running stock/hasn't been 'messed with', or even try a factory reset first.
Obviously with something like this you're rather limited with what you can do (you're stuck with things you can try on the firmware side), if that doesn't fix things, send it back to the seller/Samsung for warranty service if your warranty is still good, otherwise take it to a local mobile repair shop for diagnosis.
I've already tried the factory reset but made no difference. I think the problem is a hardware fault because I got my son to take a look at it and he couldn't get the sdcard to stay in the slot, it just kept springing out. Putting the sim cards in does keep the sdcard in the slot but it still doesn't get recognized by the phone.
I contacted the reseller and it looks like I'll be sending it back to be replaced under warranty.
Thanks for all the help.
cheers
No probs. Best of luck.

LOPURS Dual SIM Adapter

After watching a bunch of Youtube video's, reading a bunch of articles and websites, etc about these adapters, I ordered one that is LTE compatible, and simply adds one more SIM to your phone. The app to change SIMS comes with the adapter as well.
Does anyone have any experience with these here? I'd like to hear peoples opinions and reactions to them, good or bad.
The reason I want one:
T-mobile has horrible service in my area, but has WIFI calling and works approximately 1/8 of the places I frequent.
AT&T is my Main carrier, as they have the best GSM service in my area, none of which are available where I live. Verizon is the only carrier that I can get at my house and I refuse to use them.
So, because I currently have a T-mobile Prepaid and AT&T Prepaid accounts active on two phones, I would like to use them both on my Note 3, primarily because my Note 3 has WIFI calling (HyperDrive T-Mobile ROM).
My plan is to use AT&T 95% of the time, but while home, switch to TMO and WIFI calling and forward my AT&T number to it. Sounds pretty in depth, but one phone is for work, the other is mine and I have to have them both anyhow. I mine as well make the best of it and not carry two phones as well. This way I can also USE my phone while home, because if you have ever used WIFI calling from TMO, you know it rocks
Thank you
Would like to know about this as well.
Also curious if it could be squeezed into a ZeroLemon battery case or not.

By looking at the picture on amazon, I'd say that it looks like it will. It's being shipped from china, so when it gets here, I'll post the dimensions and install it with my ZL case/battery and let you know.
OK so I received this today. I immediately installed it, which was easy enough. You simply slide this adapter under your simcard while pushing it into your phones SIM slot.
My biggest concern was if it would work with LTE service, since most I found on line would not guarantee. Well, it works with LTE on AT&T and TMO just fine for me. When you install this adapter and boot up, the adapter installs an apk called SimTools.
This is the app that allows you to switch SIMs and it works well also, but I have noticed that for it to work perfect, you need to reboot after each switch or it will not update operator info. I need to test this more to be sure though. It also has a feature called Auto S/W which seems to be a auto SIM switching feature. This came with no information to read into, so I'm not sure and need to run some tests to figure it out. So far, it serves the exact purpose I needed it to, and cost less than $10 shipped. I would say that its a win/win situation. I need to run some real world tests on this and when I do, I will update the thread. For now, if you need simple, basic Dual SIM support, this is what you're looking for.
I'll add that I'm running CyanogenMOD 11 on a Note3 and have not tested this on a Samsung Touchwiz device. I have seen some complaints that the apk bundled with these adapters may have issues on some phones/versions of Android. Some research is suggested before purchasing, but its cheap enough to try anyway.
Good luck
Edit: This fits fine under the backplate of a Note3 using a stock battery and Qi adapter for wireless charging OR when using an extended battery like ZeroLemon because it has a long ribbon cable that can be folded around corners. I tested it with the ZeroLemon battery/case and it works fine.
