Can you s-off using a mac? - HTC Rezound

Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk 2

Unless they updated the program then no,there is no Mac version. I have a Mac also, but was running windows 8 through bootcamp.

I wonder if you could use WINE to do it.....
EDIT: Let me try this!

I got it running but it says it needs drivers, I installed them, but it still needs drivers... I don't think it will properly bridge over USB

I did it in Parallels.

You can't actually do anything on a mac. Joke's on you.

Thats not true. Its a UNIX based OS so it so you can do a LOT of stuff with it

i'm not sure i'd trust parallels for this. i considered it and decided to use the windows server in my basement and let someone else be the parallels guinea pig. i never bothed with boot camp. the touchpad drivers suck and make me angry.
Lol turns out he already had linux installed in a virtual box so the problem has been solved

Recommendation

Can someone recommend me a Linux distro of their choice? I'm going to start learning how to compile, and develop kernels. I already can allot the time to doing so, and I want to do so.
I have some in mind, but I want to know what you men, and women recommend.
I'd use Ubuntu. You can use it for compiling but also for daily normal things too so having to dual-boot isn't an issue.
Also, your avatar is the best I've seen. Hands down. No contest.

I am fairly proficient on the Windows side and also a total n00b at Linux, however since I have installed Ubuntu 12.04 x64 on one of my laptops, I am actually really beginning to enjoy it as a primary OS. Long story short, my vote goes to Ubuntu.

Ubuntu definitely. It is definitely the distro for people wanting to try out Linux.
There is also the ability to use VirtualBox to have a virtualized install of Windows as a way to have a "familiar environment" to work in. That's what I've done.

People have followed the steps correctly and are now soft bricked. This is not a bash against the dev's of the tool, as they did an amazing job. If there is going to be an updated tool with less risk some people may want to wait, thats all.

Wow, that has got to be the fastest s-off crack of a new hboot! Whatever exploit they use HTC must not have been able to stop it.
Crossing fingers...
Hopefully this can "fix" the issue a few of us have that somehow were updated to hboot 2.09 but still have firmware 1.05 by the 3.15 RUU.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2074643
The fact this (DirtyRacun in Genereal) depends on flashing the last RUU is not hopeful though. We'll see and I'll certainly be subscribing to the S-off thread.

That's also my reasoning for not going through with it also. Both of my computers are 64 I didn't know they still made 32s. Aren't 32 bit computers slower/cheaper?

I'm curious if the limitation to 32bit is simply because the developers didn't test on 64bit (and therefore won't support) or if there is any real threat to running on 64bit. I guess I could boot Linux 32 from USB, but prefer to just go with what I have. Currently I have Windows 7 64bit. Anyone else have sucess this way?
Now, here's my problem...all my computers are 64 bit. According to unlimited.io, the main issue they have is drivers. But they make it clear that it WILL NOT work on 64 bit... any suggestions rather than getting a new computer?
EDIT: didnt see the posts above me and below bigdaddy's(dunno why) but I think once again its a driver issue like they state on their website.

They make it clear that they WILL NOT SUPPORT, not that it doesn't work. I know it works but it is difficult to support everything, just download a livecd Ubuntu 32bit and load it up, run the exploit and be good to go.

Dirty Racun on Ubuntu Live Cd.
64bit is not supported because of driver issues. Some have succeeded with it but that's a gamble and you won't get support from unlimited.io team.
How do I get the live cd?

I used 12.04. Just make sure its the 32bit. Choose to donate or not. It should download an ISO. Just burn that with imgburn or your preferred burning program.

I achieved S-off couple of days ago with windows 7 and 64 bit. I had no problems at all.
There are well known driver issues with 64 bit which is why a 32 bit system is required.
Download any iso for linux live and burn to CD. Or run from Windows 8 which works as well but you should get 64bit working since it works for me. Try deleting, registry entries etc and reinstall the correct drivers. Hope that helps.

3.16 is currently not supported for s-off. And windows 8 is not supported. You'll probably have to use a live disc of ubuntu.
