Yes. I've flashed this ROM, and my bootloader is locked.
You only need a unlocked bootloader if you're planning on flashing a custom kernel, and or any custom ROM. (E.G cm7, etc)
I had never used fastboot, flashtool, etc before, as i've always been a samsung, Odin flash a holic lolz. But I bought my Xperia mini as it's cheapest phone that money can buy that is ics ready ;-)
If you need help flashing, I'm the wrong person to assist, as I'm new to all this, but all I can say is that I followed a guide on the sony talk mobile site, and also here via flashtool thread and site.
Hope that helps.
For me, this ROM is running so smooth, and myself, after flashing, I hooked up the phone to pc companion and clicked the repair my phone option in the software update tab, to download the original files from sony servers, to make my rom 1 hundred percent legit and trouble free.
Only issue that bugs me, is that pinch ln zoom in the stock Browser is poor. The text isn't crystal clear straight away like how it is in gingerbread, but it's only blurry for a fraction of a second.
I've not adjusted anything yet to try and remedy it though ;-)
I wanna keep it as stock, and non rooted too, as I'm happy with it like so
I'll only unlock bootloader and flash cm9 once it's fully stable and no issues. Till then, stock is king in my opinion LOL.

Hello
When using this ROM the games controls doesn't work
i tried to use Angry Bird and BackStap
and i can't use any thing on screen or use any control

Same thing happens to me,I tried one game, and I can't press ok,or some other things.
What could be the problem?

I don't have this problem, and I've been playing angry birds, angry birds space a lot *confused*
Here's what I did :
Flashed ftf file, rebooted, reset back to factory settings, (data wiped), and once phone rebooted, I hooked up the phone to Sony pc companion, then clicked on update part. Once it said my phone was upto date, I clicked the repair phone option, that essentially triggers the original firmware to be downloaded from Sony servers.
This option data wipes during the Flash / repair option.
Once rebooted, I reinstalled my apps and games, then everything was okay.
I've noticed a few on Sony mobile forum site have this issue, along with camera quirks, and Sony themselves recommend the repair phone option in pcc.
A lot are reluctant to do it, as obviously you've a phone then with your apps missing, having to reinstall your apps and games from scratch, but it's worth it, as it does fix 99% of problems.
And isn't it any wonder I don't have the game problem, camera issues etc?
Pcc and the "repair phone" option is your friend; so give it a try ;-)

[Tutorial]Root.Xperia 4.0.4 ROM [all h/m(dpi)] | 4.1.B.0.431 [23st June]

Firstly, head over to (here) and hit thanks to puppet's thread. Also hit thanks to any of his other post. Two thanks for him per every thank to me.
I. Downgrade:
Since rooting directly in 4.0.4 is not possible, one needs to downgrade to a rootable GB ROM to root. (Skip this step if you are already in GB).
To Downgrade, you need to flash an old GB ROM ftf to your device.
Download ftfs from here:

II. Root the GB ROM:
(Skip this step if you are already in Rooted GB)
Download the DoomLord's Easy Root Toolkit for Xperia Gingerbreade >= .58 from here.
Extract the files somewhere.
Connect the device to the computer, and run the file "runme".
Follow onscreen instructions.
When done, device will reboot, and you should see application called SuperUser in your app drawer.
III. Preparations to root 4.0.4 ROM:
Download the XperiaRoot.rev3 from here.
Extract the files somewhere.
Connect the device to the computer, and run the file "01-local-prop".
Follow on screen instructions.
When done, /data/local.prop should be edited as desired.
Here, do not do anything on cell and directly proceed to Flashing the 4.0.4 ftf.

Proceed as you did in downgrading, placing the 4.0.4 firmware in /firmware folder this time; and selecting it in step 4.
In step 4, make the check boxes look like this.
Proceed with the flashing Process.
Here, you can also use PC Companion or Sony Update Center if you want for updating. While updating with SUS, make you sure you perform the recommended install and do not wipe data.
Once the flashing is done, turn ON the device (If using PCC or SUS you will be prompted to turn ON). During the first boot, the device might reboot. In that case, after second boot it will turn on normally.
In case it gets into bootloop, proceed to next step right away.
Else proceed to next step with your phone turned ON.
V. Root 4.0.4 ROM:
From the Xperia-ROOT.rev3.zip file you downloaded earlier in step 3, open the file 02-push-root-files.cmd.
Follow the on-screen instructions.
Device will reboot.
Once re-boot is done, you will have SuperUser installed in the 4.0.4 ROM.
***
Note: Using this method, you can also root .62 GB firmware. For this, just flash the .62 ROM in place of 4.0.4 ROM, in step IV.
Thanks,
Rick.
Hit Thanks if this post helped you in anyway.
How this method works?

Hey...I have succes with this method... but do I must delete the data/local.prop???
Edit: nevermind...I have checked my data/local.prop and it is the same before I use the local.prop.cmd thing...
Just one question, since I still haven't got it clear: when you say "remove local.prop" you mean i have to remove the whole file or just edit it and delete "ro.kernel.qemu=1" line?
Loosing warranty
I have a Xperia Mini Pro, but there is not an update for ICS in my country available yet. Do I have to wait for it?

After puppet updated his script to v3, the file is removed automatically.
In case you had rooted using the earlier versions, then you need to remove the file from \data.
Else, if you used v3, you need not.
(Android OS builds this file automatically if it is not available)
Thanks,
Rick.

No. You need not. If you follow according to this thread, you will get the ROM along with root, without waiting for Sony to release it.
Note: Your warranty might get void in carrying out these steps.

Sure
So if bootloader stays locked, how its possible that I will void my warrianty?
Who said you will void your warranty? :O
Anyway, I suppose that if you take the phone to SE Centre and they find out you have installed, for example, a generic firmware, they could tell you that you voided your warranty. Maybe. Dunno
I do not want flash rom !need program like "unlockingroot"
easy to use and Safe PLZ...
what is the method of installing clockworkmod recovery in this method of rooting
thank u..
Wow... just can say AMAZING TUTORIAL! I've already thanked you and puppet13th
I have a little problem even tho everything went as described in the tutorial, and I apparently have root access (superuser is installed and prompts when I try to give apps like ES Explorer root access and other stuff). BUT, titanium backup doesn't seem to work, it doesn't acknowledge that I got rooted and thus it doesn't work. Tried installing busybox, that went ok, but still titanium backup doesn't work... any help would be appreciated!
sorry nvm.... either the reinstall of titanium backup or another reboot solved it all
I woke up 3:00 in the morning today, followed this TUT and successfully rooted my LWW running on Official ICS 4.0.4!
Thanks a bunch!

[Q] how to install ics .. step by step

Hi
I am noob in xperia&android configuration i have sony ericsson xperia mini and i want to install last ics custom rom and i want a guide step by step not some words what to do .. I have searched a lot for a thread like that for xperia mini but i didn't find
Help me please
To install a custom ROM you need to unlock your bootloader. Follow THIS tutorial.
Also, official ICS for mini has not been released yet. You could want to wait some time, or you can install a custom ROM. It's up to you.
Also, you should edit your thread's title. It's a little bit too.. how to say... generic.

It is better to wait for official ICS to come for youe phone,if you don't know how to update your phone, I can help..
You may reserve my post for future use
1.First,download PC Companion from the internet (I would recommend SONY Update Service aka SUS but you're still newbie,so I'll give easy software for you to use)
2.Install it
3.After install, download Xperia Mini driver for your phone and install it before using the PC Companion (I only connect my phone to my computer and it install the driver automatically) (MAKE SURE YOUR PHONE IS IN MSC MODE,NOT MTP MODE)
4.After successfully install the phone driver, run the PC Companion (run with administrator? If you're on vista)
5.If the PCC ask for downloading the update for the software itself, let it be
6.After downloading update and everything is loaded, connect your phone through USB
7.Connect your memory stick to computer (if asked)
8.PC Companion will say update available for your phone if your phone got some
Sent from my SK17i using xda premium
But think of this tutorial, do you want a custom rom or do you want only ics from sony?
Cause when you unlock your bootloader, you will lose your warranty or you must do it by testpoint method. There are some roms for locked bootloader too, but if you want to try all the roms for xm you will need to unlock your bootloader.
If you only want ics, wait a bit until the official ftf is uploaded and then you can flash with flashtool. If it is on there will be a thread for "noobs" too!

[Xperia U,Xperia sola] camera pink spot issue.

HEY GUYS! this thread is dedicated to the xperia u and xperia sola pink spot on camera issue.
this was originaly spotted on the xperia u, but seeing that the xperia sola would probably have the same camera lens and module, i thought that it would probably pop up on the sola too and hence have included it in this thread.
so lets get to the issue.
main issue- PINK/PURPLE spot seen on center of the screen when taking pics.
basicaly even on the camera preview, and on the taken picture, on the video preview and while taking video, there is a pink-ish or purple-ish spot at the center of the image. this spot some times is even yellow, and somtime, with low light, disappears..... here are some pics taken with it-

as u can see, when they are zoomed in the spots seem blue-ish...they appear purple on the phone. sometimes the spot is yellow. keep in mind that this problem developed 3 weeks after i bought the phone....it was clicking fine 3 days back....then suddenly i got this problem.... i have also heard of others getting this problem with the same phone. and since its 7 days since i bought the phone, they wont replace it....only fix it..it will be done under warrenty though
so pls...post here, with screenshots/pics if u can, if u have this problem. also mention details.. eg- when u got the phone, if it was there when u bought it, how i fixed it, what sony did to fix it....... i called sony, and they said i should take it to sony service center...and that others are also having this problem....so any other ideas?? also, i am planning to relock my bootloader before taking it for servicing.... so pls any help would be appreciated!
Definitely a hardware issue IMO. And this is the first time I have seen this kind of an issue .
Get it fixed ASAP
Hope Sony don't take too long.

i think that flashing official update will overwrite custom kernel too, btw yes the spot is gone updating to 6.0.B.3.162 using update service (i relocked bootloader)
i also RE Unlocked and RE flashed custom rom but at that point the spot appeared again, so is a problem of the build *.564
now i have stock firmware because i have locked again bootloader and reupdated to stock 6.0.B.3.162 waiting a rom based on it
(spot is gone again after official update)

so that means that prblm will always pop up if we flash a custom kernel/rom?
which in turn means that u cannot root phone without having spot in camera!!
i think i'll wait till ics update then:-/

[Q] [WT19i][Locked BootLoader] TouchScreen Do Not Work

I had my WT19i with the stock 4.0.2.A.0.58, rooted, with CWM, and I tryied to install the TouchWiz V2 ROM, what bricked my cellphone. Now, I had it recovered, but my TouchScreen won't work.
I have already used the xshanep19 (here) which is the only one I found that work on Locked BL. As the touch don´t work, I can't have USB Debugging, manage to have it Rooted or to install CWM. Any ideas?

I had already tried to rollback to 0.42, 0.58 and 0.587, including the Xperia Active Rom. As I said, the other topics methods won't work because I don't have how to flash a Kernel.

download the latest PC companion and try bro... if it says "your phone/tablet hs the latest firmware updated" there will be an option called "REPAIR". Click that and see whether it'll get the problem resolved or not... if not try going to Sony service center and get it repaired if its in warranty

I'll do what I can since the warranty is broken. One time I had a battery problem, and I needed to buy it myself, they say it was my fault just because it had a scratch on it's bottom... And by the way thanks for all

Oh That's sad but what i think is that if there is no such physical damage on the screen or the touch panel with cracks or any other damages then you'll break your warranty if there is no such physical damages then i'm pretty much sure that you can report to Sony if they dont get it done... (NO OFFENSE...) This can br done if you are in your warranty period..:angel: :good:
All the Best... let us know if its a temporary problem or else you have bricked your touch!

Well, furthermore I had bought it on March-2012, so I think that th 1-year warranty is finished. I don't want to buy other cellphone But the touch has just stopped working yesterday right before flashing th TouchWiz (ICS) over the 0.58 (GB).
I have reinstalled PC Companion, but it keeps on the same. The older version of SEUS (with repair button) doesnt seems to work on Win8! There´s anything else you know I could do?

did you flash a ICS kernel first?? Well if you are on a LOCKED BOOTLOADER can't help but i'm so sure that you can you can relock your bootloader even if you Unlocked your bootloader.....(I relock my bootloader very frequently to test my ROM builds )so try unlocking bootloader and flash the stock .587 ICS and then flash that ROM and you shoudl be getting your touch back :fingers-crossed:

My cellphone is impossible to Unlock Bootload. About the ROM, here is what I done
1. It was on the Official 4.0.2.A.0.58 firmware, which is GingerBread based
2. I rooted, installed CWM but still on 0.58
3. I downloaded the TouchWiz ROM form here, that is made to Both BL and Ice Cream Sandwich base
4. It bricked, my guess is that the Kernel from SE Firmware 4.0.2.A.0.58 is not compatible with ICS, so I should have updated to 4.1.B.0.587 that should update its Kernel to support ICS. Here it still entering on CWM but the touch buttons refused to work on it.
5. So, I unbricked the cellphone with the Xperia Unbrick Guide, and installed the 0.58 again, what made it boot, but still no touch.
Since that I flashed and reflashed ROMs thru FlashTool, including the ST17i and ST18 that were recommended in other topics, but still no touch. I really don't know what else to do, since i can neither activate USB Debugging nor acess CWM that was lost on this mess.

[FTF] Xperia Z Ultra 14.1.B.2.257 C6833 Europe/Generic Unbranded

Tested: Excellent A+ release, stable and fast. Root: Not "officially" supported yet at 20 october 2013.
FTF Decrypt and upload thanks to Chemcup:
https://mega.co.nz/#!jFMX1bCS!d2kA1AezDnXK6g8ZWrXN2DnLkTExaj9un96P0Dge4nA
I think should work on C6802/6806 as well, maybe something disabled/or/enabled and not usable on the Mobile connection menu, related to LTE/4G band.....
I've tested with success a firmware for C6802 Taiwan (.510) on a European Z Ultra C6833 device. And was working flawless, so i guess this should work on any Ultra.
***I TAKE NO RESPONSABILITY, IF YOU DO NOT OWN A C6833 and flash this on a C6802/6 DO A YOUR OWN RISK.
and beside working, your device may be also recognized as a C6833 after a direct flash of this.
Please follow flashtool guide to flash FTF, and use last version:
Release 0.9.13.0
Available from the developer's site.
http://www.flashtool.net/
General disclaimer: Flashing without Sony Update is a method generally unsupported, and it may void the warranty. So do it on your own risk. If things go wrong, you may try the "repair my phone" option on Sony Pc Companion (PC) / Sony Mac Bridge (MAC). Also, users that do not hurry in updates, may just wait the proper release for their phones to be released into official Sony Xperia channels.
"Ultra"Quick guide on flashing with flashtool (Windows7):
1) Install Sony Pc Companion
2) Install Flashtool (C:Flashtool)
3) Connect your Xperia and check if is recognized by the system by drivers, ok? disconnect.
4) Download the firmware, and copy the .ftf file inside c:flashtool/firmwares
5) From C:Flashtool, run Flashtool.exe in Windows or Flashtool64.exe in Windows x64
6) Choose lightning icon, and choose FLASH
7) Choose the Firmware from the list
8) Wait the program tells is ready to flash
9) Turn off the device and wait 10 secs
10) SIMULTANEOUSLY: Micro usb connect + Volume down

@ OP:
Did you actually check that FTF chemcup uploaded? he did say e was't sure if he did it right.
Did you try to flash it on your device?
Thanks,
Hi all, I tried to flash the version, it works excellent, for those who are not comfortable with the FTF, just change youe CDA to:1275-8026 R11A, you will receive the updates from PCC
Been trying the firmware..
All nasty bugs like phantom clicks, SOD, wifi messed, backlight seems to be gone.
General speed is above good!
I would say A+ for this firmware release.
Root with 257
I upgraded to 257 and now I can not rooting my ulrtra as I did before with Vroot. What can I do?

So here VROOT 1.7.1 for who want to try:
http://www.mgyun.com/vroot
Also Kingo may work as well.. even if it has been unofficalized from rooting methods due to a fishy acting on network, that may put some adware or similar.. so, use at your own risk, but i managed to root .532 without any flaw.
