[Q] Is there a way to set a 3g frequency on Xperia S? - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

I bought my phone in Europe and it rolls on 850/900/1800/1900 3g frequencies.
Where I live, my carrier uses 850/2100 frequencies. Either way, I get a very unstable 3g signal, maybe because it keeps trying to use the other frequencies.
In Galaxy S i9000, you can use some kind of code to set the 3g frequency preferred, on Xperia S, is there such thing?
Pardon my English.

Nop.
Yeah, already tried that before. It's still unstable.

I don't think you can make it use 2100. Need a different modem for that.

3G (UMTS) bands.

Hi,
I have an Optimus One from Telus (canada) so I know it has at least the 850/1900 bands , but I might take it with me back home where I'd need the 2100 band. Is the information on wikipedia that says that it has tri-band UMTS true? and how can I know if it has the band I'm looking for (2100Mhz)??
Thanks in advance.
In the service menu (type 3845#*500# into the dialer, replacing 500 with your exact model) it has a menu for network mode which has a WCDMA 2100 in it.
The question is whether that is functional or just part of the stock LG testing set, I don't know, originally i tried to change the band on mine but ran into continual dead ends and had to concede to go with an alternate sim/network.
Guess you'd have to try it to find out.

The service menu doesn't come up. I think it's because I have the cyanogenmod ROM.
I found the service manual and it had this section:

I'm not sure if it confirms/denies that this phone is indeed tri-band as it had all 4 UMTS bands in there!!!
mhm, hard to tell, at the end of the day i'm not sure you can find a definitive answer without being able to test it. the service menu is just an apk as far as i'm aware, you can probably flash it.

[Q] Maximum 3G Speed of I9100G varient

Hi all,
how much maximum speed you are getting in 3G HSDPA mode in I9100G ? 7.2Mbps or 21 Mbps?
Depends on the network, but 21 is the absolute max to the best of my knowledge.

In gsmarena website mAx speed of G varient is given as 7.2Mbps,hence i asked. thanks for the info mates
Yep everything I've found says max for this version is 7.2mbps due to the different CPU.
Anyone really got constant speeds exceeding 10Mbps?
As per my post above yours, this model's max data speed is 7.2mpbs

Yeah but those are theoretical values only... actually they never reach these values
http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_i9100g_galaxy_s_ii-4327.php GSM Arena edited max Speed to 21 Mbps. Now no confusion. Thanks

It works on mine. I'm in USA
Sent from my LT26i using Tapatalk
Xperia S works perfectly fine in the US. I'm getting HSPA+ as we speak.
Sent from my LT26i using XDA
Can confirm that it also works using 850 HSPA on Telstra in Australia.
I was a bit worried when I ordered the phone due to conflicting information, but all is well!

Well, I tried to find the way to activate 4G band on this model too but nothing found. There is no Power Amplifier and antenna for LTE band in this phone, so even if the band been activated in CPU it will not work at all.

Xiaomi Redmi 8 A similar processor, the possibility of porting the modem?
Good Morning Yan,
I have no Rakuten Mini phone. I hope to be of help, though.
According to Rakuten, there are three versions of the Rakuten Mini phone :
https://network-mobile-rakuten-co-j...ec.html?_x_tr_sl=auto&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=fr
Click on "Supported frequencies" to have all details.
The third version, with serial numbers (IMEI) 351676110682491 to 351676113417929 does not have LTE band B1, but it has LTE band B4.
Rakuten also says here, that "When adding frequency bands to the design [...] the number of frequency bands that can be supported by mobile terminals is limited. Some frequencies etc. have been deleted."
If you just add B1, you may have too many frequency bands.
It is my understanding, that you used an older version of the modem file. This should remove B4 and add B1. But I may be wrong.
Please check that you deleted band B4 to "make space" for band B1.
Please keep us aware of your progress.
Have a nice day !
Cobus.
