Warning! Flashing this may/will delete your /efs, which will causes major issues if you ever decide to return back to stock, so make sure you make a backup! If you don't know how, frankly you shouldn't flash this, as you need at least some experience just in case something goes wrong.

Neyodmium (helped us sort out that SGS sources that CAN be used for the 4.0, and helped pinpoint what needed to be replaced/fixed)
Me, hanthesolo (Rom dev, I will be providing updates, support, and other smaller things, so they can concentrate on the kernel, while I fix up the ROM)
The Back Story:
Firstly, excuse my cheesy biblical writing, I just have always wanted to write something in that format .
In the beginning (march 2012), there was hanthesolo. He saw the Galaxy Player forums, and all that he saw was good. This man started creating new work for the Gplayer forums, a and gained a small following. There was just one issue that concerned him: NO ICS!
In light of this, this man created a thread, to collect all ICS development, into one easy-to-read forum. Other began to follow him, zaclimon, Ijimaniac, and several others. Ideas flew fast and furious, but hope was waning quickly. A kernel would have to be created from scratch, a monumental task that had not been undertaken by any man so far.
All was quiet for awhile, and people began to slowly fade out, until only hanthesolo and zaclimon remained, slowly trading ideas and guesses over several weeks. Then a new disciple arrived: neyodmium. This korean (?) developer brought a different kind of kernel experience to the trio, and development began in earnest, with zaclimon and neyodmium trading work, while hanthesolo contributed where he could. One unsurmountable issue arose: this magnificient kernel, the likes of which had never lit up these forums before, would merely boot into recovery, not into Android.
Then Oisis came around, hearing our desperate cries for help. Like a moses, he guided his flock in the right direction, squashing issue after issue, until a monumental day arrived: August 13, 2012. On this day, ICS was finally created in Cyanogen's own image, and it was good.
Then increased development began, with hanthesolo squashing CM9 bugs, while zaclimon, neyodmium, and Oisis working feverishly on the kernel.
But an issue occurred, a wrench in the works. Thine enemy's name is GL, SuperNOva. GL would not cooperate, acting as a barrier between usable ICS, and frustrated efforts to fix it. But one day, the magical variable was flipped, and the builds booted! About this time there was a github mishap involving a bad I9000 push that stopped things for about a week, but that's another story.
What happens next? I dunno, but I will update this story when it happens .

If you get stuck in recovery, flash a GB kernel, it will boot into recovery, simply hit "reboot". When it bootloops, boot into download and flash the CM9 kernel.

port kernel 3.x from Galaxy S to SGP4.0 should be easy, coz hardware parts are almost the same, but SGP5.0 conpoments arent the same, the way for SGP5.0's 3.x kernel should be harder.

tdmcode actually has a booting CM9 build. I believe that wifi and sound work, but nothing else. His vendor tree and device tree are here:

He just never released it as it is still not very functional.
Maybe it would be easier to just take his source and try and fix the issues and make it fully working. Because getting an AOSP bringup to boot is most of the work; the rest should be easier to do.

Would it not be easier to port over a rom, as the hardware is the same? It would at least be more helpful, because if we could create a guide, we could port other roms over very quickly!

I built it and I will test to see if it works (I'll use the newest kernel from cm7)

I am going out on a limb here...could we use the cm7 kerbel to help port a workable ics kernel for a galaxy s port? Once thats done cooking up a working rom should be easy and quick.

one thing: could i suggest that the title of this thread should be Operation: ICS for Galaxy Player 4.0 or something?

Okay, I may rename it. ICS is far more feasible than you think. Once we get a working kernel running (which will be soon) we can port ics over from the galaxy s (which would be best, as once it boots most features would work). I hope by the time school starts up ics will be functional as a daily driver. I may not be able to help a ton, as most of this revolves around making a working kernel, but I will try to help where I can.

I can't get it to boot. (stuck at samsung logo) I think it would be better to build it from source instead of porting over.

Its stuck at the samsung logo because the kernel probably didnt work. It has happened to me before, we need to compile an ics kernel. The galaxy s one almost works, we just need to find out what makes it fail to boot.

Hey I've been looking at this situation too and science coming back after q long time in the Xperia play forum I decided I wanted to help I found this guide about compelling ics http://www.freeyourandroid.com/guide/compile-ics but 1 problem I need to find the device and vendor tree on github but I've never used githubn before so need some help with that so if I can help please let me know

If it was that easy, webwould have ics today on our devices. The reason its been so difficult is that we need to combine/port githubs to create a working kerbel, which is a lot harder than it sounds. Thanks for the link! I will put it in the op.

Yeah. Porting a rom is easy, but getting a working kernel is not. Once we get a working kernel we can port as many roms as we please.

Well I don't think it is that hard if we base ourselves from other devices trees like entrophy's one. I think he removed RFS from his initramfs which leaves him only ext4. Then he used a script that would convert the partitions to ext4 when installing CM9. I think it is the same things than with the mmc partitions (I think this is a part of why the 5.0 got ICS sonner than 4.0)
EDIT: And I think it's better to build it from source the first time. (instead of porting for the case of CM9 for example.)

Yeah, I was just talking comparatively. Has anyone begun working on this yet? I have been researching a LOT (the best thing I can do to help right now), but since my knowledge is limited on kernels, i cant help with that riht now

[Q] AOSP or true custom ROM

I've been following the development of so-called ROMs for the Vibrant (and other SGS devices), but I have yet to see a single AOSP ROM. Even when Samsung released the original kernel sources for 2.1, there were no AOSP 2.1 ROMs. Why not? Is it because they don't know which BLOBs to pull for insertion or the proper vendor overlays?
Some developers have done great work with SGS kernels (especially supercurio and his Voodoo kernels ... eugene373's tend to always wipe the internal SD card unnecessarily ...). But, a kernel does not a ROM make ... therefore I ask, what is truly missing to build an AOSP ROM. I've gone through the sources, but I don't follow makefiles too well.
I know we have another month or so before Samsung is obligated to release their 2.2 kernel sources, but that should have no impact on 2.1 AOSP ROMs. Therefore, I ask "what is the hold up?" What is missing, and what might I contribute ...

2.1 is a dead horse--why bother when 2.2/2.3 are out?
The reason to bother is to at least get AOSP running. Once its on 2.1, it'll be easier to get 2.2 AOSP running on it. But claiming 2.1 is a "dead horse" is the wrong path ... the real question still stands: after 9 months on the market their still are no AOSP ROMs.

Now that vibrant 2.2 source is released ... we finally have a REAL AOSP port and my all time favorite from my old HD2 the MIUI.... so keep your heads up and wait for it to get finished.
Get a custom rom. There are so many good devs doing them don't waste your time on AOSP....... until they release the actual source code...... on April 22

Except, the 2.2 source for the Vibrant has not been released. The SGH-T959D that shows Froyo sources on Samsung's site is for the Canadian Fascinate, not the US T-Mobile Vibrant. Samsung has yet to release the 2.2 sources.

Except the so-called "custom ROMs" are just modifications on the stock theme, a replacement kernel and a change of some of the supplied applications.
There is nothing close to a full "custom ROM" such as CyanogenMod or MIUI because we don't have Samsung's sources. What is passing for a "custom ROM" for the Vibrant are just repackaged files. It is akin to the "ROM cooking" that took place for the WinMo phones, not a truly ground-up build from source that is possible with Android.
EDT/Devs4Android has the MIUI build. From Source.
TW has a 2.2.1 in testing.
EDT has a 2.2.1 Beta released.
TW has a 2.3 AOSP in testing. From Source.
EDT has 2.2 AOSP in testing. From Source.
What you want is out there for you.
Watch the forums and reply when a call for Alpha testers is posted.
Hopefully it won't be long before you see a full TW/EDT/Devs4Android collaboration!
I think what the original poster is trying to ask (and I have the same question) is why were there never any real 2.1 AOSP, cyanogen5 for the vibrant. The source for 2.1 has been around for many months. Were some other proprietary bits missing, was the released source code such a mess that it was unbuildable, something else? With those questions in mind, why will things be any different when the 2.2 source comes out?

Yes, this is more towards what I was getting at. We do not have Samsung's kernel sources for 2.2. And, we do not have a Samsung provided vendor overlay.
When we receive these two pieces, then a true AOSP build will be possible. However, we do have the 2.1 kernel sources, so why wasn't a true AOSP build possible then? What was missing, and can we actually expect Samsung to release the overlay that's needed?
Actually, that's true. I know it was old but why didn't anyone build a 2.1 cyanogen or aosp rom? (Not to say its easy.)

Dude theres been a true AOSP ROM for the Vibrant since like december and thats CM 6.1

For probably the same reason that many phones with non AOSP firmware running 1.5/1.6 did not bother with AOSP 1.5/1.6 when they were released around the time 2.1 source hit. Why bother developing at all for what is essentially an "out of date" OS.
The only people it seems who actively continue to develop for existing (as opposed to new) firmware are manufacturers and carriers. This stupidity should be left to the manufacturers who still do this.
One of the larger snags way back then (sits in his rocking chair on the porch) was a lack of understanding of the phones proprietary aspects and how to work around them. But we have a fairly clear understanding of Samsung's boot process now, and RFS can now easily be turned into a distant memory.
I would wager a guess that the apathy towards 2.1 will not repeat itself once we have 2.2 source widely available and the low level similarities between 2.2 and 2.3 should have Gingerbread being more than the experiment it currently is. It's been barely more than a week since Eugene's little present manifested and there are already proper and stable kernels available.
Keep in mind that the devs we do have, have done a phenomenal job of cleaning up, speeding up, and drastically enhancing our existing 2.2 release. And perhaps to the point where many will not really care, though I know many would still like to see CyanogenMod6/7 properly on this phone.

Um, that's not quite true. The CyanogenMod.com website lists 0 files available for download for either experimental or stable files. The CM6.1 you must be running is not a true CM build.
Also, CM is not AOSP, but rather AOSP with modifications.

The vendor overlay tells the AOSP build system which proprietary files are needed from the device that are not available in source form. This includes things like GPS and video drivers, baseband firmware for wireless radios, &c.
hi everybody !
a month age i decided to compile a new rom for my Galaxy S absolutely from AOSP source ( branch 2.2.1_r1 ) after some compile-time problem and many painful steps to resolve ,eventually the rom successfully built and can boot it up flawlessly on emulator.
i create a nandroid backup of current rom and installed the compiled one. but i am facing new problem :
1- the phone successfully boots but after short while screen began
flicking several time and the phone go in deep sleep and never wakeup
( power button or menu button does not do any thing )
2- touch screen works only for some second that I can unlock the
phone
3- there is no network available
4- I have downloaded samsung opesource package for GT-I9000. it
contains a folder named 'platform' but when i merge these files to
AOSP , the compile process stops and fails again. if there any one can
help me which files from samsung source should i merge and how ? if
you now the answer and dont have spare time then some internet link or
online document is really useful .i have no problem studding and
reading and searching . reaching to target is my only hope .
I am really disappointed why there is not a good and complete step2step tutorial to compile an AOSP rom for galaxy s (GT-I9000) !!
such docs is available for phones like dell streak , desire , dream , magic , .... . i really want to to active these aspect on XDA forum and with help of all you ( mods and masters ) try to create such tutorial that any one in world can use to refer . i think XDA is the only reference on net to collect and create such help and document. please help me and leave PM or comment to agree ot disagree and from where can i start ?!! thank in advanced .

VegaComb 3.2 Available For Adam.

Found post about VegaComb being released for Adam on TabletRoms.com. Due to the similarities and the fact that there exists ROMs for G-Tab based on Adam. Do we know if there is an effort to port this ROM to G-Tab? Any info would be appreciated as this looks to be THE ROM, with the possibility of fixing camera and hardware acceleration.
A kernel is being worked on ; on the slatedroid forum. The hardware is different so a kernel has to be made for it to work

Unfortunately the Vega is not a hardware match for our beloved g-tab, they are very similar however they are not the same hardware exactly, little things like the wireless controller and the camera are different. They also have a different mainboard in their system. I'm pretty sure that the rom that works on theirs is not going to work on ours until we have a working kernel to work from. They have worked very hard on rewriting the drivers to get their tablet to work as well as it is in 3.2 and they don't seem to be slowing down now that it is working. I know that the group that is working on the kernel is working very hard to get it running as quickly as we can, I don't think that most of us have much experience in kernel coding and so it is taking some time to even get it to boot. However I can tell you that we are working diligently to get through the problems and get a kernel out to the community so that we can join the ranks of the Vega in making Google cry by hacking our way to victory. On a side note I want to say how impressed I am by the level of assistance that everyone in this community has for the new members and old members alike. I don't know of another rom that has this level of support from it's users out there. Thanks to all of you that are helping people overcome their issues and enjoy this fantastic rom.

We know that we are hanging on init.rc and have a few ideas one how to proceed. Mayday_Jay (Give him and Icewyng a big thank you because they have made this project viable) is working on getting all the developers a proper update.zip that will help those with out a usb to serial converter get some useful debug information.

Linux (BT5) will boot without Touchscreen working. Work is progressing slowly to get this working with Android. Mayday_Jay, with the use of USB -> serial converter has been able to get some useful dmesg output as well as some other debug information that is giving us new ideas on how to proceed.

Starting to modify the adam files to mach the correct values for our device. Our current config gets us passed the birds and to the second boot image and the usb device registers. Trying to get it connected to adb to get some dmesg output.

The resulting kernel did not boot and this is more than likely due to the fact that there are quite a few new config options that need to be set. I have run a diff to find differences between Pershoot's and Rayman's kernel and will be trying a new config either tonight or tomorrow hopefully. Gotta sift through new and deprecated options as well as any they both have but are set differently (and why)
Part 2
The kernel compiled with the additions from rayman's config in pershoots got it past the birds to the "Android 3.0" screen. Tomorrow I will be able to hookup adb and see where it is crashing from there.

Still running through different configurations. Need to ask pershoot what modifications he made to make the .32 kernel boot on the 1.2 bootloader. IE Which files use the NEWBL config option and what the changes are.

Want to start with AOSP JB 4.2 - experienced developers are welcome :)

i want to start with AOSP 4.2 for our SGS3 i9300 - is anybody interested to develop and publish a AOSP based rom with me?
I'm a real application developer (C,C++,JAVA,PHP,MySQL,some Oracle PLSQL) and now its some cold out - i have time to do
some nice things
I think a team of 2 or 3 developers should be enough to develop on this rom, as we can use a lot from AOSP 4.1.2

As long as no one has found to help, here a short description of current progress:
- Code is pure based on AOSP 4.2 but some snippets of CyanogenMod to bring up hardware (camera,graphics,audio)
- Device is bootable (no other boot.img required anymore)
- Bootanimation is working
- Mount of partitions is working
- Deodexing is working
- adb, debuggerd and root access is working
Not working: a lot
- Graphic not working perfect, needs a kernel patch or a working gralloc/hwcomposer/hwconverter to work without laggy PMEM)
- Camera can not be activated due to a missing function call (undefined reference, maybe it can be solved with a newer driver)
- Audio: missing speaker device (Code have to reworked to work with stagefright and tinyalsa libs)
- USB/internal SDCard: cant be mounted (error message sounds like the device is mounted twice, have to find the error in init process)

I would try to help you, but I have clearly to say that I haven't done anything like this before. I'm in the last term of my study of technical computer sciences, working in a company as application programmer for C/C++ and Java(Android). Due to my studies I have also some knowledge about hardware programming, down to read/writing some code in assembler. I would be interested to this if I get introduced to the topic and some help with the necessary tool chain wouldn't hurt too ^^.

I have successfully built a rom in year 2010 for the LG-P500 device, based on CM7 and modified it in a strange way, so i included a lot of nice things
written from scratch - this rom was a unicate ... later, i developed the "Phoenix Launcher" for Gingerbread enabled devices, but its development is currently
frozen because its strange to support every or almost every device with a bugless launcher. In the last months i learned a lot about android and have to re-think about
what i'm able to do, and what i want to do. In the summer of 2011 i bought my SGS3, the first thing i was doing was to remove that samsung crap from my device and
have installed AOKP. So now it's time to do my own thing again - i want to have AOSP as i think for me its the best Android solution for myself and want to publish it
to other users who think "thats ok for me" too
In short, it doesnt matter if its your first rom - its enough if you know about basic things like "how is android doing all that nice things", "how to debug code", "how to fix
some bugs (even strange bugs)" and some experience with git and github. All other you can learn in a very short time - i've learned the most of things with try & error

This all sounds interesting for me and yes I like the idea of developing a own clean rom with some cool additional stuff, too. But what would be the first steps to a new rom? Have you begun with all the administration stuff like setting up a new gitrepo, make a to do list etc...?
I think Code debugging and writing some new stuff wouldn't be a problem for me but what are you meaning excactly with "how is android doing all that nice things"? How it build up, deep level architecture? Well, I know how the "normal" Linux system is working, how modules are getting loaded into the kernel... But how this is correctly working on android I have to learn at first and if there is a chance to do that I would do it
Currently on my S3 is SlimBean and till that there is still no update to 4.2 I'm happy with it, but exploring something new would be pretty cool
Do you have an IRC chat room or something like that? I've to go offline now, my girlfriend wants more attention.^^ But If you want, I' m willing to try to contribute to the rom

If you want to help the AOSP experience on our phones the best place to do it is with the CyanogenMod guys. You'll find pretty much everything based on AOSP (including people that port Vanilla AOSP and AOKP) is using a CM kernel.
They're likely working on the merge now in terms of getting CM10.1 out (with Android 4.2) but most of our CM guys are pretty burned out on working with Samsung's subpar reference material to get basic stuff working (mostly HWC). If you think you could help with this, this would be provide a massive boost to the whole community that want to run these phones on an AOSP based ROM and they would be very grateful.
Gotta warn you though it sounds like it'll be an uphill struggle to get the rest of the stuff working right; unless Samsung release some decent sources for HWC.

where i got the device and vendor directories, so i have to make some changes in the basic system. if it's compiling to the end, i open a fresh github account
and upload all my modifications. The compile process stops currently on audio,OMX plugins, graphics and camera - most of that are small pieces of changes
i have to make - i think, tomorrow (its monday in germany here) i can upload all and then we can start to develop on

In the next days I have some trouble with my exams ( in two weeks I'm completely finished with my studies ^^) but I think if there is something to do I'll find some time to work on.

current state:
- patched android/build so we can compile the kernel within the main compile process
- patched android/build main.mk file so we can use OpenJDK or Oracle JDK
- added android/vendor/aokp and android/vendor/samsung tree from AOKP (its the most useful directory structure)
- added android/hardware from AOKP so we have all that Exynos things that are needed, even by AOSP
- modified android/frameworks/native/include so a OMX Plugin header can be found
- modified android/libhardware and patched gralloc module
currently it compiles to the Webkit library, most of all apps, libs and binaries are building without errors - the next problem
to solve is the PRODUCT_COPY_FILES ****: nothing of proprietary files are copied to the android/out directory, seems like
a bug in android/build too.
For only 2 days trying to compile to the end without errors its a very good cut
here we go: it compiles to the end and a flashable "JOP40" zip could be created
tryed to flash, but it gives errors in CWM: have to remove the recovery folder and the recovery.sh file from etc folder in the ota zip file, but it doesnt boot up - got a black screen only.
do we need a new or patched kernel instead the CM10 smdk421x one?
Well does it have all the closed source libraries fron the phone? If not, it wont boot. Dont think i am calling you stupid, you obviously know what you are doing, but maybe you forgot. Idk. Check that. Try running a log cat and debug that.

Thanks for the hint, yes i have all files included - i cant connect to adb, i see only small colored point on the top left side and a sensor
is red blinking (the one to the right of the speaker.
That would be the proximity sensor near the top front speaker. Cant connect, adb binary in /system/bin or xbin?

[CM10.2]Compiling and testing on i9505 (the good and the bad)

Out of curiosity i have been compiling CM10.2 for the last 2 days, and it now compiles successfully 100% (after many repo sync), but the thing is, when it's installed it doesn't even go past the S4 Bootlogo.. that's just sad, it's like the init file (ramdisk) is wrong so I tried the one from the aosp 4.3 ge builds, but that also didn't work, but it's probably not that. I don't know what it is, but of course without any logcat it's hard to find.
even my AOSP 4.3 compiled build went further than that.. it just showed me a black screen cause of the wrong egl libs but it showed a logcat at least. with the major errors of libc being faulty etc. (but it went further than CM.. in the early stage when there were almost no cm patches for cm10.2 yet)
Oh and yes I did include the proprietary files, and found that some of them don't even exist on the original 4.3 rom, so that's kinda lame..

Syncing CM10.2 Sources now
Most of the low end devices have got 4.3 booting like HTC Pico and Optimus L5 etc.
PS: In HTC Pico CM10.2 Rom only BT and Camera is broken so I am sure we can get a fully stable one in a few tries. Obviously, we have to fix bugs

[Kernel] FPBug: First really stable 4.x kernel for the Galaxy S2 i9100

FPBug: Meet the very first stable kernel for the Galaxy S2 i9100, S2 AT&T i777, S2 Epic 4G Touch d710 and Note n7000 since Gingerbread days
Every single Android 4.x kernel for these devices has had a serious bug (FPBug) that randomly corrupts the state of processes, starting with Samsungs's stock ICS and JB and spanning every custom kernel out there newer than Gingerbread.
STATS: 500+ kernel downloads in 2 days, wow!
RELATED: Make sure you check out my TRIM-enabled kernels updated with the FPBug fix.
UPDATE: A fix for FPBug has been merged into CyanogenMod's cm-11.0 branch! The fix has not made it to the stable/cm-11.0 and cm-12.0 branches yet. Changes: this one and the previous 12. Commits: this one and the previous 12. The 20150111 nightlies are the first official CM 11 nightlies to incorporate the fix.​
A little bit of history
As Android got more complex, the effects of this bug grew more visible, to the point of making the platform completely unstable for some users. Complex apps would fail for no reason, GSM, 3G and WiFi connectivity would randomly be lost, music playback would stop and require a reboot, camera would fail, internal storage and SD cards would become inaccessible, installed apps would disappear, users would experience battery drain issues ranging from inability to enter deep sleep all the way to phones becoming very hot, and the list goes on and on.
These failures all seemed unrelated and their cause was very hard to track down. Partly because events happened randomly and were not reproducible, but mostly because the bug undermines the very assumptions programmers deal with when creating any kind of code. And so years passed and the common cause of all this pain was never identified. Many ROM developers abandoned the platform out of frustration.
Then finally this past March, when analyzing the random loss of access to storage, user cgx observed a corruption event for the first time, and a connection between all these unrelated issues, sometimes hypothesized, was suddenly found. The corruption seemed to have happened in the stack, but it was later suspected then confirmed that the corruption actually happened directly in the registers of the floating point unit of the CPU. Yet processes that did not use floating point at all were also affected, because the GCC compiler typically spills registers into the FPU and uses FP and NEON instructions for optimization.
These findings allowed the creation of a stopgap fix for the "music bug" that shielded the FUSE process (which manages access to storage) from corruption in the FPU. The fix was widely applied and effectively eliminated all bugs resulting from sudden loss of storage access and returned the platform to pre-Android 4.3 stability levels: ie, sort of stable enough to be used as a daily driver. Later a working detector for the elusive bug was made and it was confirmed that all kernels since Gingerbread were affected (a thing that was already suspected given that the FirefoxOS people had described similar symptoms in 2012 under stock Samsung ICS). Finally enough of a root cause was hypothesized and a fix was worked out. And if this were not good enough news, user Entropy512, the exynos platform hero who saved us all from brickbug, has hinted that official Lollipop from Omni is now a possibility.

User zeitferne worked non-stop throughout this weekend and made amazing progress. He found a couple of missing commits that are apparently needed for the FPU state tracking to work through power state changes, he discovered that the FPU in CPU0 is the one that actually gets the corruption, he found an explanation why this bug never affected the 4412 platform (Galaxy S3, Note 2, etc), he narrowed down the conditions for the corruption, and finally output an alternative patchset that apparently fixes the FPU state restore optimization rather than just disabling it as mine does.
Kernel developers are encouraged to merge his changes in lieu of mine once enough testing is done and @zeitferne green-lights the patches. This is important as it might fix as-of-yet undetected bugs or prevent bugs arising from future changes. In the meantime, eager maintainers can merge my fix which is by now well tested. Users will only see a small (<< 1% ?) performance increase with zeitferne's patchset and don't really need to bother with this; my advice for them would be to wait for the changes to trickle into their kernel of choice. AMAZING JOB ZEI!!!
2nd UPDATE: @zeitferne has green-lit his patchset! Kernel maintainers merging it please take note: 1) Make sure my fix is removed before applying his, otherwise there will be a small performance hit in the resulting kernel. 2) Both our fixes also affect the 4412 platform (i9300, n7100, etc) in slightly different ways, and the effects of this have not been properly tested. I must recommend that some testing be done before distributing FPBug-fixed 4412 kernels. Please report your test results back to this thread.
WARNING: A problem was reported with zeitferne's patchset.
FOLLOW UP: @zeitferne made some changes to his patchset and initial testing looks good.
AND FINALLY: The patchset was merged into cm-11.0! (See this change and the 12 previous ones.)​

You will find kernels for various CyanogenMod releases, M-snapshots and nightlies here. These kernels are guaranteed to work only with the exact matching version of CM specified in the last part of their filenames. But in reality they should work with most versions of CM that are close enough. (Don't ask me about this, I don't know, I don't even have any of these phones! Just try them and see for yourself if you are feeling a little adventurous.) For other ROMs i expect this fix to be merged in a matter of days after some more testing is done. Please be patient, and KitKat users can flash my music bug fix in the meantime.

Q. I have flashed your music bug fix in the past. Can I flash your kernel?
A. Yes! The music bug fix has no downsides. In fact, as a side effect, that fix makes your phone slightly faster and saves some battery so it should be merged in all ROMs IMHO. If you already have it installed leave it in place, but do not flash it again the next time you upgrade the OS. Please do not flash it just for the sake of optimization: since it is based on CM11 M10, it would actually be a downgrade.

i never had any GPS problems on my i9100 before ICS. Since JB it has gotten sooooo much worse. I tried atleast 20 different ROMs (JB, KK) and 5 different Navigation Apps. Nothing helps. Currently i am on CM11 M12 Snapshot. Still not better...

No it won't solve gps problems. I've had good luck using GPS status https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.eclipsim.gpsstatus2 and Faster GPS https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.fastergps from the Google play store. GPS status will download assistance data (A-GPS) and faster GPS setups the proper ntp server for your area. I get fixes in about 10 seconds now.

Everything is somehow faster with this kernel. I flashed the music bug fix with this kernel. Waiting for trim kernel, it will further accelerate the phone.

OK so FPBug-V1-src.zip is a flashable zip for fpbug fix for every rom stock jb and kk?And cm-11-M10-i9100-music-bug-fix.zip is for cm11 m10 only?

What recovery does this kernel has built in? I use 11.15 cm11 custom build my markox and I want to mare sure that I can reflash the rom in a recovery if it screws up. I never used Odin since I got this phone.
