Broken screen - Thunderbolt Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ywah, i did it. Dropped and cracked, still works great. Read some about changing glass. Anyone at all have any luck with this?
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA

Hehe try youtube. I saw some really good repair view there. The hardest part I think will be separating the glass and lcd. It has been suggested the best way to do it is to replace both at the same time.

Thanks. Im gunna call around town n see if someone does it. I read its a pain.

Creaky

Hey, just wondering if anyone else's MoPho kind of "creaks," esp. the battery cover, or if its just mine. Thanks.
Sent from my MB855 using xda premium
Yeah especially on the bottom right side.
Sent from my MB855 using xda premium
Mine does bottom center but everywhere else is tight. Only "issue" I've had.
Thanks, just wanted to make sure mine wasnt the only one.

Mine creaked so I complained to Moto customer service and they sent me a brand new back door free. Installed it and the creak is gone. Its an easy fix!
Sent from my MB855 using xda premium
Yep same here... and did same as above. Got on Motorola support site, spent 5 minutes on their chat support, few days later had a free back cover. Squeak is gone now. Looks identical. Not sure what's different but it works! No reason not to try it.
This ^ is why I love XDA.

Mine creaks at the top in the middle.
Going to mention it to motor
Sent phrom my Mo-Pho
No creak here....but now I know what to do if it starts lol!
Mine did for a while, but after a few times of removing and replacing the back cover, it stopped.

You can try bleaching it? You can't prevent it.... your phone WILL get hot under load.

Lol... I googled while at work and skimmed through links and saw it come up a few times so posted it... I was a lil out of it... My bad
Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G using xda premium
honestly unless you paid a lot for the case i say just get a new one. being the type of plastic it is most chemicals would probably damage it. they are cheap enough to get new one.
Ok thanks everybody, I can try bleach but I'msure the smell would stick. No it's not expensive. Another one wouldn't be too bad. I remember something about a solution that you could spray on but couldn't find it. Thanks again!
btw hit the thanks button for you all!

Buy a black one? Or a different brand?
I know, not really a solution, but a cover that changes color within a few weeks or months ... can't be made with very good material.

You're not alone, but I don't know what's going on in that thread because I'm not experiencing it.
Funny. I acctually looked at that thread but my xda premium crap app didn't display the picture so I thought it was about something else. Thanks for the link.

What exactly you want with this thread? If your digitizer is broken, buy another and replace it
Sent from my MB860
Try this link. It's a weird fix that might work. If not you'll just have to buy a new digitizer and replace it.

Highly doubt it. Atrix 4G is known for having issues with the digitizer. I myself have a dead stripe vertically too. Let us know how it goes tough.

Same here. I upgraded to a new phone. I was hoping I would be able to stick with Motorola, but nope.
At some point I'll probably drop $30 on the new digitizer and try to resurrect it.

Im thinking the same thing. Im going to buy something used though. Maybe a S2 or something. Only requisites are that it must have official ICS and great dev support.
I'm thinking about the note 2
Sent from my MB860 using xda premium
Yeah lie everyone said either a new phone or replace the digitizer. There are "fixes" on the software side but mine like many other the digitizer was just broken. I can report I successful my replaced mine

Couple of question:
1) Did you replaced the digitizer yourself?
2) Where you bought it?
3) Was it hard to replace?
4) How much it costed?
I have an upgrade in November so I'm thinking note 2

Just get a new phone. There's still a chance that the replacement digitiZer won't work either.

The digitizer is super easy to replace.
I used ifixit.com's teardown and was able to figure out everything I needed. In fact I was actually replacing a water damaged lcd but I had to tear the phone down in exactly the same way. 20 minute job for someone with almost no experience inside of electronic devices.

7105 housing on 605

Does anyone know if you can out 7105 housing on vzw 605 and if that will open up wireless charging pins?
Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda premium
I was thinking of doing this. The back case is only like $20, so even if it doesn't work, you're not out a whole lotta money..
Yeah I agree ordered mine will find out when it gets here

If you're talking about the battery cover its not going to work unless you modify underneath. There is another thread around here of something doing the mod using a dremel

The 7100 allows wireless charging, correct? If removing 10 or so screws and swapping a back plate is all thats needed for wireless charging, I'll order one of these. Let us know how it goes.

That's pretty cool man, glad you decided to give this a try. But from the posts and videos I remember seeing there was a little more to it than just exposing the metal connectors. I'm not sure exactly. It was a long time ago and I never bothered to follow up on it cause I figured it was too much work for something I most certainly won't even be using in the near future. But I hope it works! If it really is as easy as just changing a piece of plastic I'm all over it, whether I end up using the feature or not.
Yeah I remember reading that people had to put a couple dabs of solder on the contacts to build them up in height. Without that, the contacts would be too low and they wouldn't touch the charging pad. We'll see what happens when xterra gets the part. :fingers-crossed:
It wont fit. I did the same. The housing is different in the area just above the battery
