Replacement camera module - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

I turned on my camera today and noticed a hazy black spot near the center of the screen. I cannot find any defects on the lense so I assume there is a fault in the sensor. A friend told me the sensor is easy to replace but I don't know which to buy. Is it possible to put in an upgraded camera while I'm at it?

An upgrade not that I'm aware of. but for a new camera try cellphone-repair-shop.com I got a new pager motor assembly and rear housing they work perfectly and there original products. I also recommend adding the pry tool to your order I tried with a regular screwdriver to open my phone and well.... that's why I got a new back!!! Lol noob mistakes I guess

[Q] Remove Samsung logo on top front cover

A slightly bizarre question here, but has anyone tried to cleanly remove the silver Samsung logo on the top of the front cover on the i9100?

It's under the glass so if they've replaced the front bezel.
Would love that as well

It would indeed clean it up just that last touch, but you propably need to replace the cover

I know it doesn't answer your question but I wouldn't ever do something like that. I paid a premium price for a premium product and I want the whole ******* world to know what brand of phone I have!
there's a logo on the back, isn't there?
i'd also love to know. it would make the phone look so much sleeker (the front, anyways)

Yeah, you are right! I might buy an Nexus S instead ;P
Best to check out ifixit. They have articles about how easy it is to repair or replace parts on various 'phone. The Nexus S and Galaxy i9000 are there. It'll only be a while afore the i9100 follows.
For example, here is the Nexus S:
http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Nexus-S-Teardown/4365/1
There is no reason to think that the teardown for the i9100 would not be as good. With this information, one could well remove the front window pane and see how easy it is to alter the Samsung logo.
Black insulating tape? :-D

Turns out i still don't have enough posts to post outside links . neway, search up "Galaxy S2 SGP Glass". u will find what I'm talking about.

[Q]Dust under front camera glass

My front camera has dust under the glass and it is very visible when trying to use the camera. Would it be possible for me to take the phone apart to get to it or should I try bringing my phone in?

Dust under lens...................warranty, cos' dust should not get in there. Dust under glass lens cover, should be easily cleaned, but I would go to the AT&T store with it and ***** at them.
Sure it's not external?

One if the few good things about apple, turnaround time of about 3 days or so.
Ok so i got my Atrix back yesterday. All good.. its been around 30+ hours since i had it and there seems to be dust again accumulating under the front cam lense. This is really frustrating. Anyone with the same experience? Also upon close inspection, there seem to be space from the side of the touchscreen glass to the frame. If i press on the corners of the touchscreen glass you can feel it "sink" a bit to the frame.

i just have got the same problem with my galaxy S.
I've Brought it back my Gs to the samsung assistance in my country, yesterday morning. Today afternoon i've brought it back from the assistance and the Gs was clean from the dust that was in the part of the glass in front of the "front vga camera".
Now my question is... how does the dust finished in there? there was dust since i buyed it?... in these day i'll see if there will be again dust...
Till my phone have warranty avaible, i'll bring it back to the samsung assistance in my country.
Meanwhile ... i'm thinking how i could keep away the dust with cover or with some can of spray air.
me too!
This happened to me too after using the Otterbox Defender! horrible case...
I have dust under front lens glass area also..
Think its getting under there from the ear piece speaker area.. very annoying.

Change the housing and change your friend just kidding.
I bet it is possible, when I change the arc's housing at very early time it was very expensive but later got a lot cheaper. Try and make it a warranty issue. Does your phone has sign of being dropped?
It could be more difficult to do it under warranty, better chances under insurance?

as "Cholek3" recommends, insurance would be nice since its the complete replacement of the phone. Warranty housing replacement sucks because first you have to send it back to repair center for inspection and sometimes to send it back.

My S4 had the same problem. Took it to a repair guy who is comfortable taking the phones apart - it's a little gasket that looks like an o-ring that slips down in front of the camera - easy fix.
Good luck.
It's no longer water resistant once it's opened up too

If there's no visual damage to the outside and NO water damage you can just run it back and they'll replace it. Dont tell them you dropped it, just say you tried using it and all pictures look this way. Should be no questions asked and replace honestly. Sucks though.

Water damage HAS to be covered now since the phone is advertized as water resistant. Right?

Nope, if the back cover or charge port is not totally sealed and the indicator turns red, you'll pay your deductible or OOW fee.

Thread cleaned of warranty fraud discussion...not on this site!!

I have the same issue with the front facing camera, only I never dropped mine. I started playing with the front camera on Friday and noticed a shadow along one side. At first, I thought this was some kind of filter I had accidentally applied. When I could not find a way to turn it off I thought maybe the top of my case was causing it. When I looked close, I saw that the top half of the camera was being blocked by this gasket. I took it to T-Mobile and they exchanged it as a manufacturer defect and I have a new one arriving today. Once the new on gets here I'll post some pics of the bad one.

Fair enough, but as stated directly following your message, someone had the same issue, took the phone in and was replaced under warranty so our previous talks prove factual, dropped or not this is a warranty issue, not fraudulent?
Either way I appreciate the work you do to keep this place tidy, thanks man.

I sure try... Thanks. The difference with the post after mine is the phone was never dropped. Warranty is for defects. Insurance is for accidental damage or bricking your phone. My statement was meant for just that, if you do drop it then responsibility should be taken and it is not proper to ask here if you can get away with getting it fixed under warranty.
Cheers
Kenny
Here are the pics I mentioned. Hopefully this does not turn into a widespread issue.
Front camera.
I have the same issue, didn't drop my phone. But the oring has shifted in front of the camera. Im wondering if I send it in if they'll fix it or just send a new one? Because I have a spigen glas.tr screen guard on it and I don't want to be out the money on it. I'd prefer they just fixed it.

Front camera defect
Hi guys! I just joined this site to share my problem with my new Galaxy S5.
It's been weeks since i got my new phone from T-Mobile. I love it! It's a expensive phone so a good cellphone case is a must. I have a case and screen protector to protect my device. Suddenly, I just found out the same problems you had with your phones. I've never dropped mine either. So I think it's gonna be a manufacturer defect. Something is blocking the front camera. Again, I never dropped my phone, it doesn't have any scratches on the screen and any dents on its body.
I went to my network provider and ask for help about this issue. They sent me a replacement phone (Galaxy S5) after 3 days then I sent over to them the defective one. They said that it depends on the manufacturer/service tech if the phone defect is under warranty or not. I'm still waiting for them to check the phone. Or else I'm gonna be charge $175 out of warranty fee!
I'll attach pictures of my previous Galaxy S5. I hope this is not a widespread problem. Share your thoughts too! Thanks!

[Q] Rear camera Replacement

Someone gave me a SGS5 with a cracked rear camera lens. I replaced the lens and made sure I really cleaned the camera but it has these 3 brown shadows. They are small but very annoying. So I ordered a new camera.
My question is has anyone replaced one before and how hard is it?
TIA for any replies.

Thanks but while replacing the screen I jacked up the digitizer. I can't believe I did that. I'm looking on line and the cheapest I can find is $125 . I can buy a whole used one for that much or less if I get lucky. Guess I'll be using it for parts now. Thanks for the reply anyway.
