htc evo 3d - HTC EVO 3D

i am goin through a really big problem! i was trying to permanently root my phone! but during the revolutionary step it says hboot 1.40.0000 or 1.30.0000 it says 1.40.0000 and it also says it is not supported yet! please help me!

Hi,
you dont need S-OFF for evrything. If you cannot S-OFF,
still you can flash roms, and do most of the things without a problem,
Only thing is you cannot just install custom roms using the recovery menu.
You need to download and installed Android Framework tools and fastboot in your PC to fire ADB Dos commands to your phone via USB to flash the updates.
Let me know.

You can flash ROMs through recovery on S-on too and it will work fine as long as the new ROM contains the same kernel as your current kernel. And if it contains another kernel use flash Image GUI app or fastboot command to flash tha kernel.
Provided your bootoader is unlocked via www.htcdev.com

Most of the time, ROMs does not have the same kernal,
So most of the users who are s-on and new to flashing get stuck on boot loops. Other thing is flash image gui app is a paid application
So best way is to use fastboot commands to flash the kernal after installing the ROM zip file
Cheers..

You could update to hboot 1.50, use the HTCDev unlock and use the Wiretrick to get s-off

Gaining root is two steps on the EVO 3D. First, must have an unlocked bootloader, which you mention you have. Second, need to have the proper files setup/installed for root. Most custom ROMs have root access properly setup. If you're in doubt, grab my free app, Root Check Basic and it will confirm whether or not root access is properly setup. If you want more technical details around the root setup, grab Root Check Pro.
As for flashing new custom ROMs, there is only one limitation to the HTC unlock method compared with the previous hacked methods of s-off, kernel write access is blocked when booted in recovery mode.
This means there are only two methods you're able to gain write access to loading the kernel with HTC unlock method: fastboot and normal android mode.
1) Normal Android Mode: My application, Flash Image GUI, will allow you to select a ROM or kernel .zip file and it will flash the kernel along with the WiFi/WiMAX modules. If a ROM .zip was selected, then reboot into the custom recovery and flash the rest of the ROM.
2) Boot the custom recovery in fastboot mode which grants it write access to the kernel partition. This requires a computer and the android-sdk with inclues adb and you'll need the fastboot binary. The command for this is: fastboot boot c:\downloads\custom-recovery.img. Once you're in the fastboot boot custom recovery, you're able to load any ROM or Kernel .zip file and HTC grants write access to the kernel partition.
Hope that helps! Good luck!

flyer with offficial hc ota htc unlock

Hi I've been doin a lot of reading of this forum. My main question is can I install a no sense hc Rom from just performing an HTC unlock or do I need to downgrade to gb anyway in which case I may aswel go s off while I'm at it.
I'm running hc official ota
There is no true no sense rom available as of yet
ok but if i just used the htc unlock could i then easily flash the new virtuous rom which has just started been developed?
Problem is i cant find the correct ruu to downgrade my device, its a uk 16gb wifi . I thought id found it but the site wont let me download.
You should be able to flash clockwork, then a custom ROM through fastboot without downgrade and root.
Haven't done it myself, but that is my understanding of how the unlocked bootloader works versus real S-Off.
I managed to do this hardware unlock and now have an unlocked bootloader. Tried. To flash cwm and corrupted the recovery. How do you install CWM through fastboot?

You have get CWM recovery, go into fastboot, connect USB, and then install via command prompt.
If you are unaware of how to do this try installing recovery via Rom Manager. Might be your easier solution.
Thanks for the reply, I actually downloaded cwm from a post in the dev section. Flashed it through command line with fastboot and now when I boot from recovery the device is stuck on a white HTC screen.
Also tried to use Rom manager but the device has to be rooted first. Can you root it through fastboot without cwm? Can I get a download link for a working cwm?

or is there another way to Root & install CWM or TWRP on this condition ...??
Cheers
You have to unlock bootloader and flash twrp with fastboot. You can use Regawmod but people have been having issues with it. If you go to HTC Dev and sign up the instructions are pretty well written. When you finish unlocking download twrp from the TeamWin website and flash it just like unlock_code.bin but type fastboot flash recovery recovery.img or whatever the image file is named. Then flash a rom. The kernel has to be installed separately or you can use a rom with a kernel installer like meanrom

HTC Flyer stuck on boot

Hi!
I've updated to honeycomb 3.2.1 and everything worked fine. Then I decided to unlock bootloader using HTCDev site and root it.
Everything went ok and flyer was working until I decided to flash custom ROM (Cool 3D Honey and later LeeDroid).
After following the install guide device is stuck in a boot loop. It's booting to the "desktop" screen and then reboots over and over again.
Same happened with LeeDroid rom.
How can I get it working again? No matter which rom - just to make it work.
I can only boot into fastboot/recovery now.
hboot 1.11
S-ON
rooted
Please help
You need to flash the boot.img using fastboot. This needs to be done everytime you flash a custom ROM. Otherwise, you have no kernel (or kernel is mismatched for the ROM you are on). This is one of the downsides to having S-On versus S-Off (and with you hboot version, there is no S-on, as you likely already know).
To flash boot.img using fastboot:
- On your computer, use a zip program (Winzip, WinRAR, etc.) to open the ROM zip.
- Extract boot.img, and put it in the same folder that you have fastboot.exe (which you should alreay have if you are bootloader unlocked).
- Connect the Flyer to your computer via USB, put phone into fastboot mode
- Open command prompt on computer
- Change directory in command prompt to the folder where you have fastboot.exe
- Use following command to flash boot.img:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
- Reboot phone after flash is complete, and it should boot properly
Also, make sure you are trying to flash on HC, ICS, or JB based ROMs. GB based custom ROMs require GB hboot. Since you are only bootloader unlocked (not S-Off) I don't believe you can downgrade hboot (at least not easily). So I think you are stuck on HC, ICS, and JB ROMs (no GB ones).

Thanks for your effort.
I've followed the procedure you described above but still no luck for Cool 3D honey or LeeDroid (HC) ROMS. However, I was able to flash Virtuous ROM yesterday and Flyer is working. Only bug I noticed for now is that I can only power it down through fastboot > powerdown because standard/software power down option is not working (probably ROM bug or something).
BTW, should I follow this guide to downgrade to GB? Can I expect this to work?

I think this is what you want: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2070140
The linked RUU thread in the guide is obsolete (dead/deleted download links). But the method seems to be valid, if you can find the RUU for your version.
i have same scenario with the you dude
HC
s-on
1.11 hboot
i want to flash this Cool3dhoney, but the thread said that i must have proper radios and hboot, dunno what's the proper radio and hboot

Honeycomb ROM requires a HC hboot. So if you are already on HC, you are already on one of the correct hboot versions. I don't think that radio will make much difference, and the one you are on is probably fine..
Since you are S-on, you must manually extract boot.img and flash from fastboot as I instructed in post #2 above. That is probably the reason why you can't boot. The kernel will not flash in recovery with S-on. So your kernel is currently mismatched with the ROM.

4ext PG86IMG for EVO 3D

Eh, can someone please upload the latest 4ext recovery PG86IMG.zip for me? I want to flash a new ROM, but it requires 4ext. The system bootloops so I can't get it the normal way.
I found one around here, but it's for CDMA and my bootloader told me to go eat a rock. So GSM, please.
Cheers!

Can u tell us ur HBoot and S-on or S-off
Try to flash other recovery , install a stock rom then install 4ext.I was in same problem too
http://4ext.net/ddl/shooteru/recovery.zip
please note this is not a PG86IMG file. you have to extract recovery.img and flash via your pc using cmd. put your phone is fastboot and use this command in cmd
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
make sure you have drivers for phone installed

HBoot 1.49.1107, S-Off. I was thinking of going that way, but that seems too much of a hassle for something that could be simply downloaded.

Thanks, I'll try this out right now.
Edit: I ended up flashing with fastboot, then installing an older version of the ROM, then installing recovery from the app and only THEN the ROM version I wanted. Apparently the latest version required the most recent 4ext, I'm dazed and confused but everything is working now.
Haven't used the phone for an year or so, restoring some old SMS messages out of the nandroid backup brought up some memories. Now I'll be using it to test my mobile app. Thanks again!
now that you can boot your rom, download 4ext Recovery Updater and update to latest version of 4ext from there
