Heavy stutter while playing videos on browser! - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I Have noticed a big flaw in my SGS3. Videos played straight on the browser stutter heavily. It doesn't matter which browser you use the stutter is always there. For example videos in gametrailers are unwatchable right now because of this. I didn't have any problems watching videos through browser with my SGS2 so this seem quite weird. I am using go launcher ex but switching to TW doens't help either.
Weirdest thing is that videos from youtube work just perfectly.
Does anyane else have issues like this?

Just tried some hd videos on gametrailers ( full site view) and its silky smooth no lagging or stuttering. Maybe try cleaning your browser cache. Also get the latest flashplayer on the playstore..

try diffrent flash sites it would lag for sure, dosent work smoothly on all sites, just played some hd videos on gametrailers they worked fine, but dosent work smoothly on all sites.......

I've noticed stuttering too.
At least in my case it appears ~30 minutes into watching a fullscreen Flash video and seems to be related to the phone overheating.
When removing the TPU case and grapsing the phone in my hands to cool it down, the stuttering seems to lessen but will only go away when resting the phone for a few minutes.

It can't be that in my case. temps are only 43c when the stutter occurs. It starts almost immediatly when playing flash videos from any other site besides youtube. I noticed that when playing videos from youtube processor cloks only to 500Mhz but when playing from other sites it raises up to 800MHz. I don't know if that has anything to do with though. All benchmarks work perfectly and scores from those are what they should so I don't believe that this problem is HW related.
I think I'll try to reset to factory settings and see what happens.

nameless v4.1 - Youtube crashes

This release is really nice. for some reason a bit choppy for me, but better than when I had the community rom... The only "major" issue I find is that YouTube app crashes every time. adobe plays videos on web pages fine, but the app itself crashes.. any ideas?

Browser to watch streams?

Hi,
I've been looking for a browser that would allow for me to watch online streams (i.e. sport streams) without an incredible amount of lag. I've tried xscope, stock, dolphin, boat, and maxthon. Not a single one of them has been able to do it.
I would appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction or if someone could show me an app that would work in the same capacity. This is the only functionality that I'm finding my prime is missing. I only wanted it for internet and the occasional word document.. and so streaming sports would make the wonderful package complete.
Thanks!
I've been using the stock browser and ICS Browser+ and havent experienced much lag on streams besides the regular lag that comes with some streams. The only time I do notice a little lag is when I'm not viewing in fullscreen.

What do you mean not watching in fullscreen? Are you talking about having the browser in fullscreen? Or talking about having the stream opened up fullscreen?
Thanks.
i noticed stock browser does not allow me to log in espn3.com
but the lag is related more to network speed more than browser app
Lag would come more from work strength and speed than the browser

i mean the actual stream being in fullscreen.
Hmm, first of all, I did find a browser that would let me watch a stream without lag and there is a noticeable difference between streams on that browser and on others. Second, I can never make videos fullscreen on my tablet. Even trying to watch videos from ESPN.com won't go fullscreen. Is something on my tablet messed up?

[Q] I need help (think my galaxy is broke)

I'm new to android and android hardware. My question is that when I play YouTube app I never get hd quality (not crystal clear) videos. The screen is kinda of snowy. I did a test on multiple videos 360p, 720p, 1080p all the same. Also when I tested a mkv file on the system sd it plays back kind of skippy and not crystal clear 1080p. Is my note defective ? Or what ? It's stock rom I don't know how to root. Thank you
Take it back and get a new one, you're well in the 30 day return window.
also do a speed test to see what your net speed is because it will scale your video back if your streaming over 3g at low speeds. 1080 requires atleast 6mbps connection. otherwise it will lower it for you.
I did a speed test and I'm getting 35down 8up wifi. also Netflix doing the same. Everything else works but I'm just not getting hd quality video
Have you tried to have the screen on the upper right corner and tap on the hd button?

On my device hd youtube videos look pretty good, its flash movie videos on certain websites that look a little weird...like panning flashes slightly happening on blacks, not so much macroblocking.
The Note display isn't 1080p, it's actually WXGA, just a little taller than 720p.
Also there is the well-known issue of dark scenes being blotchy with videos. This has been documented in the Int'l version too.
And +1 to the suggestion to press the "HQ" button. Also be sure the video is offered in HD. Try this video and don't forget the HQ button which you can only see if you tap the screen.

also make sure u turn up the brightness. if you have it set low that will cause some of this
Does Netflix show hd content on the android?
That video is super choppy and pixelated for me over wifi.
Wonder what the Deal is?

This video looks just amazing on my Note!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xP90fQab86Q
What you described happens in YouTube and Netflix. The hq is on as always
I never saw any kind of problems streaming with the Galaxy s, Galaxy S2 and with my recent one the Galaxy Note. It looks even better on the note crystal clear (Youtube, Vevo and Netflix), try to compare it with another Note to see if your device is defective. And regarding the .mkv playback, it was a little choppy on all devices so i think is more hardware performances don't forget those still smartphones not computers.
I've also noticed that the "HD" option isn't so HD. Even at home over wifi with 20/20Mbit, it's still quite blocky. I'm convinced that the youtube app is the problem and does not actually pull the 720p or 1080p versions even if they are available and you select "HD" with a connection that can support it. I don't know what resolution it does pull -- some kind of hybrid maybe, where it's 720p but at a much lower bitrate? It looks 'decent'/better than without "HD", but movement scenes are horribly blocky compared to what they could be.
I've verified that it's the youtube app itself (and the mobile version of their website too btw) by opening the stock browser, navigating to www.youtube.com, scrolling down and opening the Desktop version of the site, searching/selecting the same video, hitting the cog when it starts playing to change resolution to 720p/1080p (just as you would on a desktop), and then going full screen. It plays fine, and the video quality is SIGNIFICANTLY better than the youtube app (and mobile site as well I believe) when doing this. Much less blockiness, especially on scenes with a lot of motion or blacks. It's really annoying, because it is inconvenient to open videos in the browser this way, yet the quality is worth it. I wish there was an app available that allowed for better quality. I want to choose the "desktop version" of 720p without going to the desktop website.

You hit it right on the money! !!!!
Thank you
I did a test with alot of videos and Some mkv files. It seams to me also that the apps for galaxy note are not streaming in hd.the mkv files on my sd card play stunning hd video. Netflix is the same way and many others like vevo etc... I get to say the least vhs quality video streaming on 4g lte or 50/8 speed 5ghz N Wifi. Why is this happening? does it occur in the international version? Also in some YouTube playbacks with a dark scene I see lines going across the screen? Does it happen to any of you guys also?

Youtube playback problem

I got my ATT Note the other day and I've noticed that when playing any youtube video (either HQ or standard def on wifi or network) that the video plays normal then speeds up for a sec then back to normal. It's especially worse at the beginning of the video. The audio stays fine, its like the video lags behind the audio and the video speeds up for a sec to catch up.. The status bar shows the video is loading way faster than the video is playing and even pausing it until its downloaded completely doesnt resolve this.
Anyone else have this issue or?
Yeah I have the same problem with HD content on YouTube. Perfect example for me is the LMFAO video Sexy and I know it.
Don't judge I think the video is funny

At least I know it's just not my phone. I haven't tried it with that particular video, but I will take your word for it. (The song is bad enough lol)
I have noticed the same problem. But when I watch YouTube on the full desktop site in the browser using Flash, it is butter smooth. Even in 720p HD.

Have you tried clearing the data and cache under settings/apps? Works for many apps having similar "odd" issues with behavior.
I think ever since the update the YouTube app has just been so buggy...HQ videos barely want to load anymore

Same thing for me, I actually play youtube videos through dolphin HD browser and 720p and 1080p play perfectly. There is an issue with the youtube app and I am hoping it will be resolved with it's next update.
I hope so, it's kinda embarrassing to show someone this amazing device and to have the video act like it does..

Choppy streamed video playback

Hi all,
I've been looking for this on many sites but i didn't find a solution so i hope someone here could help me because i'm reeally desperate.
I'm having a very choppy video playback on certain streamed videos. I dont think posting those sites is allowed here so ill just call them X an Y
Anyways, after googling there seem to be quite a lot of people having this issue.
Video buffers, sound plays ok but the image itself seems to be like 1fps and skip a few seconds..
Site X never works, some others always work..
Youtube works fine (maybe cuz its html5?) playstore movies are fine too.
No this is not a buffering issue because of my wifi, and no using 3g instead of wifi doesnt change anything. I've tried using different browsers and it didn't change a thing. Is it a decoding issue of certain fileformats?
Btw: running rootbox 4.2 and dorimanx kernel
