[ROM] Lumia 800 RM-819 - 1750.805.8773.12220 Navifirm - Nokia Lumia 800

Hi everyone!
Searching from news in Navifirm saw today that this version is rolling out to our Lumia, anyone knows about it? Flash it or not?
Does it worth?

Great search!
Unfortunately I cannot find it. The latest version I can find using navifirm 1.7+ is the 1600.2487.8107.12070.
Probably tommorow on the upcoming Microsoft event, Nokia will release new Tango (aka refresh) firmwares for the Lumia.
Nevertheless, as anyone download this and tried it?

Hi, i don't have this in my navifirm+ v1.7, if you can upload we can test this. Thanks.

Do you think MS will release WP8 to Lumia 800? I got this phone only last night, so i'm really ignorant regarding all this.

It isn't yet clear if Microsoft is going to make the the Apolo compatible with existing phones.
There have been a lot of rumors and sayings on this but nothing official.
I think today is the day they will clarify this topic, but I believe that, with Nokia backgrounds on providing frequent updates, at least the flagship phones (Lumia 800 and 900) will be able to be updated.
Let's cross fingers and wait they have the good sense to make wp8 compatible our phones.
UPDATED: The news aren't good with T-Mobile saying: «a statement posted by a T-Mobile Germany representative that the handset definitely won’t be receiving the update. The latest information comes after T-Mobile customers pinged the operator asking when the handset was due to be released on the network.»

NO WP8 to existing LUMIA or WP phones!
All the phones will be DEAD! specially NOKIA!

Well, i figure out after a clean cache that firmware on Navifirm went out, someone was not supposed to put it online, so thats why quickly disappeared.
About Windows aka Apollo 8 , nobody at least Microsoft or Nokia can afirm that, we can only especulate and personally i think that will cause Lumia 800 and 900 are the flagship of Windows Phone, if they wont update it will be like a totally shame. Imagine if Apple launched iOS 6 only to run in the new iPhone coming...

im using the china variant tango past a month now, without FB integration but with wifi sharing and a VERY VERY NICE BATTERY BACK UP, im happy!

Well, it's official.
Although Microsoft's newly unveiled Windows Phone 8 boasts exciting features like more customization options and integration with voice-over IP, one unpleasant suspicion we had about the new mobile OS has been confirmed: current Windows Phone devices won't be able to upgrade to WP8.
That Nokia Lumia 800/900 we've just bought! Consider it a obsolete for the next year :-(.

[Q] Windows Phone 8 for our Titan?

Hey folks,
Do you think that our lovely Titan will receive an official update?
Yes, I think even the gen1 devices are getting the apollo update (WP8)

HTC Titan theoratically should be getting uptil WP8.5 or WP9 unless those version will need extra hardware to run. Microsoft has sold major phones on contract bases. Contracts in Europe and USA are 2 years. Thus, Microsoft would ideally try and not be Android. Instead it will be more like iPhone where iPhone 3G got uptil iOS 5 but runs a little choppy now after 3 updates.
Forgive me for coming into this conversation late then;
Is the plan that Windows 8 will be an update available for anyone with a Windows 7.5 device? In other words, if i go out and buy the Titan this afternoon (most likely) and 8 comes out in a months time, il be able to load 8 on to the device? Or simply that new devices will come with 8 installed?
It's my understanding that Windows 8 and WP8 will both use a different kernel. So the CE based kernel in WP7 will not be compatible. Not sure how they'd handle the transition, but it would be nice to be able to have WP8 on the Titan.

Yes, 8 will be an update, it's not going to be a new device exclusive thing. The Titan is going to get it, as was already said in this thread. And I would not be surprised if every windows phone gets it. Every single one.

I don't think this is true. Any of it. First of all, WP7 uses CE 7 as the kernel and it still has support for WM6 (CE 6) applications. I haven't heard anything about a CE 8, and I highly doubt that they would move on to a CE 8 kernel so early in Window's Phone history. I could be wrong. But even if CE 8 is the new kernel, it will have zero impact on compatibility. It has already been stated that WP8 will run all WP7 apps (and frankly I don't think this even needed to be mentioning; to drop support two iterations in a row would be the death of the platform).

What I meant is that I have heard WP8 will use the actual Windows 8 kernel, as in, the desktop and mobile version will use the full desktop kernel. I'm not sure how that would translate to an OTA update for us, or if that would even be possible without a tethered full wipe and reflash of the device.
EDIT: Here's where I read it... http://wmpoweruser.com/leak-confirms-windows-phone-8-will-use-the-windows-8-kernel/
You're right, they are making it the desktop kernel. I'm sure an OTA update can be done. If not, an updated ROM will be released.

I think OTA for Windows Phone 8 will surely be rolled out. Titan being Gen 2, won't have any issues as far as all the indications go. If anything we will be flooded be amazing apps as there ought to be an influx of apps from Windows 8 devs too!
I think we hopefully will get ample of information in less than 3 weeks from now
This is a interesting topic, but if my memory not failing me, MSFT said at the start that all phones will get future updates. And while Apollo might be the first exeption or not, MSFT haven't stated any changes for future updates so I would say that until they officially says somthibg new, its business as usual. Or am I completly off? Just look at the difference between first and second gen. There was new hardware introduced but all got the update, only diff was if its no hardware for a specific function it can't simply run that...but the update brought the rest of the goodies, and even workarounds to give the best possible alternative was made.

[Q] WP8 Custom Rom for Lumia 800?

Hi,
i am interested in buying an Lumia 800 but i do not have any knowledge or experience with windows phone. I just want to try this system and the Nokia devices have a very good navigation software and a good camera. How big is the chance that a WP8 Rom will come to the Lumia 800?
Normally i use a Galaxy S3 and just want to buy a second device to play around and test somthing new. So please excuse my noob question. The L800 will cost around 200€ without a contract and i think its a nice alternative to my Samsung.
thanks a lot
lumia
its not going to happen the most you will get is wp 7.8 only the new line of lumias will have w8
if i were you buy the 820 or 920
rob:good:
I would like to buy them but they are too expensive just for testing and playing around. Is it impossible because of the hardware specifications or that there will be no WP8 Source Code available which can be customized with drivers etc. ?
Not possible mate..though u can have a word around here..

with the devs
Hi,
Even if someone ports a WP8 for a current WP7 device he/she would have to disable all the specific WP8 functionalities which requires higher hardware specification (Dual core CPU and all) so it would be kind of a 7.8 with very marginal improvements.
So I dont think there would be much of a gain in trying to port in WP8 to 800
just my 2 cents and I can be completely wrong
Hee!,
I am an engeneering student and I do not think it is already fair to say porting WP8 will be posible, or not. It is true that the hardware of our current Windows Phone device doesnt reach the Microsoft hardware minimum for windows 8 device. Although this is their minimum, wich not only concludes the ´needings of the system´ but also ´marketings minimums´, for example: who would upgrade to a WP8 device if it is slower?
So not having the minimum hardware requirment doesnt really mean it is imposible to run WP8. Although it requirs a lot of porting and I am not sure if somebody will succees doing it.
Also one last point to mention, as you can find on the forum you can not update all Lumia 800 devices, depends on your bootloader, wich you cant know when you buy it on Ebay.
Does anybody know when Lumia 800 will get an official WP7.8 update? And will it be available in Europe?
they say , in the mittle of December...

Lumia phones are mostly phones as some testing tweaking devices. So i'm wondering, what you expect, as long as 800 is flashable only with qualcomm bootloader. New ones have only Dload, which is not hacked yet. Lumias are not like androids - completly different ROMs, patches, flashable apps,... Lumias are great, fast, reliable phones. Not for messing around.
i think you will try lumia920 or lumia820/822,lumia800 only have wp7.8

Windows Phone 7.8 for Lumia 800

Microsoft confirms Windows Phone 7.8 is coming in "early 2013".
Cast your mind all the way back to June of this year, when Microsoft formally made its first official announcement about Windows Phone 8. At the same event, it disappointed early adopters of its Windows Phone 7 platform by confirming that their handsets would not be eligible for upgrade to the new OS.
But the company also said that it wouldn't leave those faithful users completely out in the cold, promising to deliver an update that would bring new features, including the new-style Start screen, to first- and second-generation devices. But since that announcement, almost nothing has been discussed by Microsoft about Windows Phone 7.8. Until now.
At long last, Microsoft has broken its silence on the 7.8 update. In a blog post, Terry Myerson, corporate vice president for Windows Phone, has now confirmed some of the features that the update will bring, including a greater selection of OS 'accent colours' (20 in total), and improved lock screen features such as the Bing Picture of the Day.
Sadly, there doesn't seem to be much in the way of features here that we haven't heard already - and if you were expecting good news regarding availability, you'll probably want to sit down and pour yourself a drink. Microsoft is commiting to getting the update "tested, approved and rolled out to as many devices as possible in early 2013", so those rumours suggesting it might starting being delivered to devices this week were evidently pretty wide of the mark.
The wording there also implies that not all devices will be updated; we've already had it confirmed by LG that the Optimus 7 won't see 7.8, but it's not yet clear if other devices will join the list of handsets that won't see the OS upgrade. One other device that seems unlikely to see 7.8 is the Dell Venue Pro, a handset that had something of a troubled life before it was finally withdrawn from sale in March of this year. The last update delivered to the Dell Windows Phone was 7.5 Mango.
Myerson also confirmed that new handsets with 7.8 are already beginning to launch, and will continue to do so in order to reach "a range of lower price points"; we've recently seen entry-level devices such as the Nokia Lumia 510 being announced with Windows Phone 7.5, while the Alcatel OneTouch is expected to launch with 7.8 soon.
Evidently, we're still some way from Windows Phone 8 taking over as Redmond's sole smartphone OS.

Yea..and its so freaking annoying that they are just giving us a new start screen and asking us to wait till early next year..!!
When the RTM ROMs are already leaked and they look quiet stable..wdf are MS playing at?
It's not just a home screen, new lock screen, smartglass support and a lot of small fixes like for IE and bluetooth file sharing and etc. WP 7.5 runs very well already,so WP7.8 is just a small fix and MS wants to make it sure, that everything will work even better.
I hope that will improve the performance of Lumia. I bought one a few days ago and I love the simplicity of the OS. And I'm a Android user
Finally, been waiting for few months now......
i hope they will update the firmware, too. especially camera-firmware for Lumia 800. i still have autofocus problems in macro-mode. interesting point is, that with another cam-app like sophiecam, the autofocus DO work, but it acts weird with the native cam-app. so this means, it has to do with software, which i hope nokia will fix with the 7.8 update.

potential idea for wp8 on lumia 800

I'm a former android developer away from XDA, and recently switched to WP7.5 (now WP7.8) on the lumia 800. I've looked around, and the biggest difference between WP8 and WP7.5 phones seems to be the processors...
I've done a quick comparrison and the closest match seems to be the Lumia 820 (correct me if i'm wrong) now here's the question: can the lumia 820 rom be downloaded in such a way that it can be edited freely like the android rom, if so, i'm happy to play with it to see if i can get it working. but i don't want to lash out a couple of ton on a phone if it's not going to even let me grab the rom.
