Network Enhancement Site - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

New network enhancement SITE (at least new to me) was launched. I thought it was neat so figured I'd share

Check out this website as well.

I'm familiar with S4G, thanks. Robert posts quality stuff. As well as our mole over at ISN. Just nice to see Sprint actually communicating.

This side been up for a while and it doesn't changed much where I am I wish I could get lte by years end otherwise moving to Tmobile for all my lines since the contract will be up by then

Just 2 voice upgrades for my town in the next 6 months. The two adjacent cities get speed upgrades though.

Mine says like 6 which I can care less since I barely talk on the phone I used data a lot and it says like 20 of those will see if is truth

I wonder if that means my little craphole town won't get LTE. Was looking forward to it since I'm 2 miles from the tower.

This site has zero to do with showing when LTE/NetworkVision is coming btw....this site shows when they are planned to come by to add an additional bundled T1 line to the site for whatever capacity issues need it the most voice or data....
Really wpuldnt pay attention to this much at all to be honest...

Wouldn't it at least give you a time frame of when the 3g network should be better?

I mean you might see some improvement from those little upgrades but it will be nothing like what NetworkVision upgrades are bringing...B/c they have so many of the sites labeled for the bundled upgrade before NV its tough to distinguish the two....and thats IF they started listing some of the things involved with NV on that site...which has not been the case thus far at all...

I've been checking this site since I got my Photon back in October, it's said I have had speed updates at the towers in my city in the coming 6 months, for the past 9 months.
Only thing it says that has occured was a voice capacity upgrade on a tower that I would guess is rarely even used, it's down a pretty rural stretch of road and there are other closer towers to the more populated areas, unless it was just unusable, not sure why they even bothered with that one.

Id be willing to let Sprint install a Tower at my house, if it meant I would get LTE before 20never lol. I hate Verizon but atleast they have LTE here

holy facking hell! but when everyone starts jumping on LTE the speeds wont likely be like that no more. i'm quite happy with my wimax right now i get 13-17mbps
True but they'll still be faster than now. There's a tower right next to where I live so I'm always getting those speeds as well

Im about to cry... D: im amazed.. Sprints done it again!! They like take a massive leap, let the rest of the carriers take a small step ahead.... Take another massive leap.. Let the other carriers catch up... And just keep pullin more crap outa there butts to flaunt in the other carriers faces! Like they were the first to offer 4g a year ahead of everyone else.. And KEEP there unlimited plan then they do this! O: the only place they lack in is a wide range of phones but theyre even catching up in that department! Nd who cares they gor the mopho!!

Most of us will probably never see this ever and for two reasons.
1. It's Sprint and they are absolutely full of crap. Promised people around the country 4g nearly 2 years ago and still nothing.
2. See #1
Thats just crazy...how long would ur battery last..lol

Actually better signal would = better battery life on cdma networks.
Yea I can guarantee that the speeds will be much lower with more than a few people connected to the network. I'm just impressed that Sprint is capable of this is all.

Check out the company called light squared and search it with sprint in the same search. Sprint is paying out the ass to make it work. I'm a recruiter and I work with the company they have recently had some break through and even some test. If it works out. Sprint will be able to use the tech to transfer their LTE anywhere you can receive a GPS signal.

Data speeds - thinking of switching from AT&T

Is there anyone who lives in upstate NY that can share how there data speeds are? I bought a One X on AT&T and am seriously thinking of switching to Sprint. We can't even root our phones let alone unlock the bootloader. I'm just worried about Sprint's data speeds. All the tech sites trash it. Thanks.
Depends where you live. Were I live Sprint is the fastest of the big carrier's. I average 2.2mbps. Att here is just awful with limited signal.
Also isn't ny on the first round of updates so that would mean they should have good speends by the end of the year.

Just to be clear. The first rounds are for New York "CITY" and not New York state AKA up state New York.
It's been a while since I've lived in upstate new york. Why not go to one of the sprint stores or best buys and ask to run speedtest on their phones.
I could see them using airaves in the stores. I have no idea if they do or not but i wouldn't be surprised.

This! They do! Sprint is slow, very very slow. Here in Colorado it is abysmal.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA
Pretty hit or miss, it can be pretty decent or downright horrible. At work I get around 1.3mbps or near 2, but at home and a lot of other places it's painfully slow. I just ran the speedtest app and I averaged ~120kbps down, 200kbps up and 250 ping...
I think it's safe to say that you will get MUCH worse data speeds than what you're currently getting. Your signal strength should be on par though, and you won't have as many drop calls.
Besides what the fanboys here tell you, it's pretty generally accepted that sprint's data speeds are absolutely horrendous. I've never been to NY so I can't say this with 100% accuracy but it is a pretty darn safe assumption.
I'm in Houston which is one of sprints biggest markets and even here just about everywhere I go the speeds are terrible. Not as bad as some people who get like .1kbs and .2 but they are still waaay below 1mps.
There have been small pockets where I get 1-2mbps but those are soo inconsistent that it's not even practical

Where do you live, Rochester? Speeds in Buffalo vary, that's the best I can tell you. My EVO 3D got significantly better speeds than my EVO LTE does. I'm just hoping that will change after an update or two. Rochester and Syracuse got WiMax pretty quickly though so I would imagine LTE isn't too far away.

No, he's not included. Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Albany, and NYC are the major markets in NY.
On a side note, I always found it funny how when I say I'm from NY people always assume I live in or near NYC. That's like saying everyone in Texas lives in or around Dallas.

Sometimes companies tell you what you want to hear to silence you. Are they working on towers? Yes. Will it roll out in October for NYC? Probably not.
Just like my ISP telling me I'm having slow speeds because of a "regional Internet problem" with THE internet. Yeah right. -_-

DFW
With the launch of LTE, DFW was on the list of having LTE. Phone never connected to LTE. After serveral phone calls, I was told the same thing, that the networks where being upgraded and scheduled to be completed in December. I see LTE every now and then now, but not long enough to get any use out of it. Speed Test showed it to be slower than 3G when I was able to connect. I got credit for 4 months (AUG -NOV) until LTE is fully up and running.

If Sprint gave you an exact date, and especially from a representative over the phone, they're definitely lying to you.
While I seriously doubt that's the date, I sure hope it is. I am sick of slower than dialup speeds on 3G and constant weak signal.
NYC and several other major cities have been announced to go live within the next several months, which means NYC can get it earlier than scheduled.....Finally able to use phone to the fullest
Has anyone in the NYC area gotten LTE signals yet? Wonder if they will test it before going live.

Roaming to get off contract...

If you do this, are the ESNs on the phones marked as bad? I'm guessing they are... but curious. Sprint is giving me the biggest run around ever with constant poor service, dropped calls, slow data, etc... I'm in a metro area as well, it's ridiculous.

I'd go month to month and buy a phone off contract with Verizon . But I don't have faith in this network vision of theirs. Sure it's state of the art. But it's also Sprint and not one tower is complete yet in Florida according to S4GRU..But I'd come back if it's as good as they say it is. I have my doubts.

I love it. Guys are so thirsty for high speed data, but once they it get, they're realize the only true benefits are HD video streaming I'm glad with Sprints 3g in the North of Boston market I could pretty much do what I want to do with my phone besides streaming videos. And with Verizon's cap you're pretty much only guaranteed 3 movies per cap. No thanks I'm all set.

Not looking for High speed data as much as I'm looking for data that doesn't drop to 1x constantly and can play my Google Music with out stopping every 20 seconds when I'm on the road.. Not looking to stream HD movies but I would like to actually watch a YouTube clip from time to time when I'm not on Wifi and not see "buffering".... But it's all pointless anyways because I'm going to see what the Hell Sprint is going to do. I've delt with them this long. I'll give em till June.

Some hope with Sprint's network vision

I just wanted to share some good news with the Sprint users here. Sprint recently launched LTE in the Chicago area and for a while I haven't seen any major improvements near me (south of Chi-town). For those in this area, I did a speed test in Lockport earlier tonight and pulled down 2-3Mbps. Normally, I might get 100-200 Kbps. I know many people have been suffering with far less than that, but wanted to let people know it's getting better!

No doubt Sprint is concentrating on the population centers that they think will bring in the most revenue, just like my next upgrade will depend on which carrier can supply competitive 4G coverage in my area.

No our phones use 802.11e instead of the LTE protocols while some say a update could allow us to use it no one has really backed it up.
While 802.11e was the first revision of wimax and the next would have been better than LTE but to many others adopted LTE. YOu will need your upgrade to get a LTE device.
My upgrade is on the first of jan so I will be getting a nexus LTE device but won't see LTE here for a few years.
Seriously. Why would I use any newer phone if I have to drop back to 3G? I've been lucky and had unlimited WiMax since original EVO. Getting my girl a used Sensation off Craigslist and going to hook her up with Straight Talk. If the speeds are good maybe I'll go that route for a while. GSM Nexus off contract is probably the way I'll go next time.
