[Q] Disable screen lock when on power? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is it possible to disable the screen lock pattern when the phone is connected to power? E.g. when driving, it's annoying to keep drawing the pattern to unlock the phone...
Regards,
BTJ

Yep. Use Battery Indicator (pro) from the market. That is what I use then adjust settings in the menu.

Can I use this and disable the battery indicator in the notification area? Don't really need another battery indicator...
BTJ

Yes, you sure can.

Ok, will check it out... Thx...
BTJ

No worries. Let me know how it goes.

Didn't work... Couldn't remove the battery indicator from notification nor disable lock screen when charging...

Rooted stock.vzw_root66, is there a way to increase the screen timeout?

I have a Vzw rooted with stock.vzw_root66 ROM. However, I know I've seen the option in Sense but not here (don't think it exists in CM either). Is there a way to make the screen never turn off when plugged in such as when it's charging or sitting on the desk plugged in?
Or is there a 3rd party software that disables turning off the screen or dimming it after a certain amount of time?
Thank you in advance.
[[UPDATE]]
So I found an application called Iseeyou, the "lite" version doesn't allow you to turn off notifications. Was hoping for something I could flash that would let me toggle screen timeout.
Pro version of Iseeyou is .99c
WIdgetsoid will do what you want.

What happened to the power saver settings? Gone after OTA ICS

You know, in the Settings/Power you could set Economy/Power Saver mode. All that is gone in ICS. As if the battery life isnt already bad .... Any alternatives?
HTC hid them.
Try the free ap called hidden settings
good luck
howard
Thanks man. Much appreciated. I think their so called reasons for hiding sound bullish. Confusing the end user? Really? If it confuses people that much, then dont go into the power saver menu...or get an iphone... :/ .......Right

You can also use Minimalistic Text to create a widget that links to the power saving settings. Unfortunately the settings don't work as my wifi would never turn back on after waking the phone, I had to constantly restart my wifi everytime I picked up the phone. And the settings there are minimal, not like before where you had more choices. I had to reverse all the settings then uninstalled the app, it never helped save any battery at all.

Those settings only take effect when the battery drops below some (unknown) per cent. At least, that is my understanding.
Yea, I don't see an area where I can set a percentage to which power saver options activate... What gives HTC? Stupid to get rid of that feature even if I never really needed to use it tell now.
Sent from a galaxy far..far..away....
Speaking of power saving, does anyone else notice that since ICS, the backlight does not return to normal brightness after exiting camera application? You have to turn the screen off via the top button then back on to return to normal brightness.

I find the low power warning comes when the battery drops to 14%
Supposedly this is when the hidden power saving settings get implemented.
Yes, it would be nice to be able to change the 14% to be some other value, perhaps 30%

Yeah, I had mine set to 20% before the update. This hidden menu doesnt even have the option to set exactly when the power saver settings kick in...........No....I will never move to iphone. Not in a million years. But come on Android, stop downgrading your OS for cripes sake..geeez

Heads-up Notifications over Lock Screen?

New to the LS998 variant (US Sprint)
Am I missing a way to get normal heads up notifications on lock screen other than the Always ON display ( all I can see is an Icon Notification here)?
I really want something that shows me more than just the Icon...
Has anyone found an app that actually allows a notify over lock screen? or screen wake up?
The Notific, FLoatify apps have some serious incompatibility issues with Oreo....
So they only way to get ANY notification is with Always on Display?
Deleted at OP's request.
I use Glimpse Notification. Unfortunetly this app only wake up screen when notification is comming. Wish app that use ambient display. You can try AC Display app, but on my V30 not working good.

I am looking for a visual way to get notifications, such as a flashing light. Is there some way to set up a way to get a flashing light for notifications from texts or emails?
I'm on Verizon's locked vs996 version of the LG v30.
Thnx

This is super helpful, thank you for going through this. I got it setup but still having some issues - the notch light is always on haha. going to have to tweak this some more.
Hey all,
Check out the app LED Blinker Pro, there is an option to have a blinking light on the screen. Looks exactly like previous samsung phones, and you can also have multiple lights for different notifications. Problem solved!

Did you try it and does it work?
Just to know if the API that supports it is there.
It seems the downsides of all the led apps is that once you get the notification you can't unlock the phone with the fingerprint sensor, you have to double tap the screen or something to cancel the app and then unlock the phone.
Working pretty well for me this far. I added this app on my gf's and my S10 Plus's. Besides going through the bevy options we have it setup. The light only goes around the camera when a notification comes in. Still doing some tsing so I'll update if anything.

There is an option though that you can select that if you pickup your phone, it goes right to the lock screen so you don't have to dismiss the led screen.
nice app but it's a killing battery

I noticed that, but then beside it it said it uses more power. I switched to aod instead, if only you could get rid of the clock and date and simply have notifications on it.

ambient display always on ?

The option inactivitydisplay under display settings is always on even if I disable the fingerprint symbol and all stuff.
Any way to turn it completely off ?
