[Q] Using Gamepads on G9 - Gen8, Gen9, Gen10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all
I own an Archos 80 G9 on latest 4.0.7 Firmware.
You know that since ICS, gamepad controllers can be used to browse the launcher or in emulators like SNESDroid or DroidEmu.
But I saw that not all gamepads are recognized.
My old and crappy Microsoft Sidewinder (not really friendly to use) works well on emulators and in the launcher.
But I tested with a Razer Onza (not the Tournament Edition), which doesn't work at all : nor in the launcher nor in emulators. I downloaded an app on the Play Store, "USB/BT JoyCenter TestApp" which allows to know if a USB device work or not on your phone/tablet. And miracle, the Razer SEEMS to work : when you push a button the lines mount and down (just test the app to understand ^^).
Do you think Archos can add in a future update the support for more joysticks or can a xda developer make it?
Sorry for my bad ugly naughty bad Zoot English

Up!

[Q] Viewsonic Gtablet> Using the USB Port

Hello, I'm new to xda-forums, and I was hoping to find a tutorial or answer on how to use a gamepad, mouse, or keyboard via usb to my Viewsonic Gtablet. It is rooted and has a custom rom, GtabComb 3.3, I believe. I have Scummvm (running full throttle, the game) and it would be great to use a USB mouse. Also, I have a SNES emulator. I can connect a wimote, if so desired, but I do not own one, so I'd rather use a gamepad. The one I have is USB connected, a SideWinder Plug and Play Game Pad. Could anyone coach me on how to set up any of the prementioned items?

You may have better luck asking in the Q & A forum.
There should also be a thread specific to GtabComb in there. You will likely have better luck asking people who are using that specific ROM. The different configurations/kenerls used in each rom will dictate whether what you want to do is feasible.
Doesn't look like this moved so I'll answer here. Mouse shouldn't be much of a problem. Most android kernels and at least newer roms support USB mice I believe. Gamepad support is going to depend on your kernel. I had SNES9x and USB xbox360 running for a while on flashback with one of pershoot's kernels that had support for it and the right modules installed, but it took some effort. Once other things are working I'm sure TeamDRH will be sure to enable gamepad support in the ICS build. I think it's usually enabled but it may get removed from time to time since they're working out some issue with at least one game reporting a gamepad when there is none.

[Q] Use a psp as an Android Gamepad

Hello there
Lately (about 2 months) I'm trying very hard in using a psp as a gamepad on an android tablet via Fusa Gamepad (a program that converts the psp in an usb gamepad for windows, mac os, linux and PS3)
After different ways tried (passing by Gamepad Connector and Gamepad Ime normal version of the store and mod versions found on different forums).. I got that it won't recognize it for two reasons:
-To make them recognize a PS3 game controller you need to press the PS button that doesn't exists in psp fusa gamepad.
-The reality is that the psp fusa gamepad driver doesn't simulates a ps3 pad but a common pc gamepad!
So I tryed Usb joystick center (v6.41) to make the tablet read it and..
The tablet recognize a pad. With Fusa Gamepad v0.3 it recognize as "new old gamepad (1)". But on configuration buttons, it flashes all the bytes every time very fast.
Then I found that the 2 precedent versions of fusa gamepad used different drivers (because some troubles on compatibility with ps3.. seems).
I tryed the v0.2.. but the result was the same of v0.3... then, just to try, I tryed v0.1.. and it works correctly!
While trying it, I saw it responds very slow to the commands.. and thought it was a problem in the communication between psp and tab.. but trying v0.1 on a pc, realized it goes slow the same way (v0.2 and 0.3 works perfectly on the pc).
To make v0.1 works faster, I should work on the driver of the psp and I don't even know what is it..
the easies way is to make the tablet recognize correctly the v0.2 or v0.3, so it can works very well as it does on the pc.
I think that in the moment the tablet recognizes that a gamepad is connected (v0.2 and v0.3) and works (v0.1) slow ('cause the v0.1 is a beta version slow itself), the solution is very very near. But I have no the knowledge to complete the job. Has anyone idea of what to do and how?
I've been trying to get it work too. No success so far. I believe it's driver problem.
I tried same psp, same software on a different tablet (Mediacom Smartpad 705i) it works perfectly.
So the problem is between my psp and my tablet -_-
ggedete was
I tried usb host controller, it recognizes the psp connected. I'm pretty sure that the problem is a missing module (joydev.ko)
I tried to insert it by terminal emulator but it gives me "exec format error", probably it needs to be compiled adhoc for Arnova 7g2, I need help but no one responds me -_-

game controller

hi!
I've recently bought the fire HD 6, and was thinking if there are any compatible bluetooth game controllers.
I was thinking to connect it to the TV and use it as a sort of android game console.
Thank you very much
Root and use a PS3 controller is probably your best bet.
The Ouya controller work just fine. Just press the OUYA button (located on the low center in the controller), and when two light start blinking, search as any device at bluethooth menu.
The Ouya controller has an integrated touchpad and can be used as a mouse on your screen. But if you're planning to play a game, remember it's depend if that game has the controller button mapping or you'll need to use Tincore Keymapper to do it manually.
I already rooted my KHD6, so I did the controller test after root, but I'm pretty sure you don't need the root to make it work. I use the same controller on my NON-ROOTED Fire Stick TV and works just fine.
PS4 Controller works like a charm, Played Pokemon On Myboy for a little while, while it was linked to my Chromecast.
I would say a PS4 Controller works out of the box as well, as I wasent rooted at the time.

I just bought this controller about week ago and it work with HD6 (I only use GBC,GBA, and Drastic emulators). They work good so far. I haven't test any Android games yet, but I assume it work fine. This controller is awesome. I used with my HD6, phone, and laptop. Recommended!

Touch screen gaming

Is there anyone that has found a solution for using a game controller (PS3, PS4, XBOX ONE, ect) to emulate touch controls for touch screen only games? I know I have rooted my installation and attempted to install the sixaxis app, since I had already bought it for one of my previous devices, but it always fails to configure Bluetooth. Are there any apps out there that can accomplish this that we currently know are working with this wonderful os...?
I tried 2 bluetooth gamepads made for Android, one of them can use the D-pad and ABXY in system but doesnt work in game, another gamepad doesn't work at all
Hope they fix/add support for gamepad soon so we can enjoy games on pc/laptop with no touchscreen support (I really wanted to play Implosion).
Try GameKeyboard +
I use it to emulate onscreen the physical gamepad to play nvidia shield exclusive Portal on Xiaomi Mi3, but I also see options to map physical gamepad or keyboard or even mice; might you find it useful.

Use "Sixaxis Enabler" from the playstore. Works fine for me.

I'll give this and game keyboard a try... With sixaxis enabler, it sounds like all it does is make android recognize it as an android controller. If that is correct, then I don't need that due to the fact that remix os recognizes it as a controller just by plugging it in, but I need touchscreen emulation for apps that don't support controllers.
Bluestacks has some kind of keyboard control apk built in?
I tried it with Real Racing 3 and could steer, accelerate and brake using direction keys on a physical keyboard. But the graphics for the game itself weren't represented well and I switched to RemixOS. Which looks perfect in full screen, but alias there is no way to steer or brake.

PS2 controller compatibility with android.

Hi everyone, I am new to making threads but I have been a fan of xda for long time for providing help to me and millions of others.
Now coming back to the point. I have a PS2 controller which I want to use with my phone for playing games. I already have a otg cable, a PS2 to usb connector. I tried playing real racing 3 with it and it works as charm. The mapp application I used was usb/bt control centre as sixaxis doesn't recognize PS2 controllers( or maybe I don't know how to do it). NOW THE MAIN PROBLEM is that I can't use my right analog stick. I tried many apps but none of them recognize my right analog stick..well it works well on my pc..and I checked it on some app also right analog stick works..but when it comes to android it doesn't. Now I would like to know from u people whether or not PS2 controller is fully compatible with android or should I buy a ps3 controller..Or is there something I am missing..
