How to add an App to home screen dock - Galaxy S III Q&A, (US Carriers)

I can delete from the home screen dock, but can't figure out how to add the camera app to the dock on my stock SIII.
Thanks for any input.

Just drag the camera icon to the dock over the icon you want to replace.

Just pressing, holding, and then dragging it into the dock works for me. You are referring to the home screen and not the lock screen, correct? You should be able to just drag it in.

Yes home as opposed to lock screen dock.
No, I can drag to show on the screen but not down into the dock........
I deleted the chat one, now there is an empty space in the 2nd slot.
So I've got phone, empty, messaging, internet and apps

You have to go to your he so-called "application screen", press the menu-button and select "Edit".
Now it should be possible to add and remove any app from and to your dock.

No, nothing that I can see that adds to the Dock. Anyone have one in hand and can experiment? Feeling stupid.

What I did is add to one of the home screens first then after that go to that home screen and drag that down to the launcher. See if that works for you.

Thank you. I'd just come back to post the same. I was trying to drag it from the App drawer directly to the Dock. Put it in the home screen then it can be dragged down to Dock.

Getting unwanted shortcuts to the trash with dual-touch.

I've had problems in the past in getting a shortcut to the trash sometimes. Maybe i had a dirty or greasy screen. But sometimes it takes multiple tries to select a shortcut to drag it to the trash. Either the app starts, or the shortcut only gets dragged halfway across the screen towards the trash but not in the trash yet...
Sounds familiar?
I just found an easy way to dump your unwanted shortcuts in the trash.
Only prerequisite for this is Dual-Touch enabled.
- With one finger touch and hold the shortcut you want to delete,
- With another finger touch and hold the trash icon.
- First release the finger holding the shortcut and then the other finger.
Your shortcut should now be gone.
Never had any problem with my touch screen, sounds like yours may be defective. Anyhow, nice work-around man. Maybe some other defective x10 user will be grateful.
I don't have problem in removing shortcut. I have problem with maybe creating shortcut. By long press on the app in the app drawer and move to the home screen. A lot of time it run the application.

Click to collapse
Then make the shortcut the other way around: Longpressing on the homescreen, new shortcut and browse the to app you want there.

Change order of LG home

Hey,
On the bottom of my home screen there is the LG home shortcuts, Phone, Messaging, Contacts, App Drawer and E-Mail. The thing is, the order seems to be a bit weird on mine and I want to change it and if possible remove E-Mail and put in Internet. Is there anyway to do this?
Thanks,
Andrew

Hold your email icon then drag it to bin. Then go to menu find Internet but mine named Browser, hold the icon then drag it to the space that you just removed earlier

I'm not talking about just a normal shortcut on the home screen, I'm talking about the icons at the bottom, long clicking on them doesn't do anything for me.
it is not possible in the normal luncher of the optimus.
i use pro lunch as my luncher and you can put any icon and give it any action that you want.
futuremore there are more advances to this luncher. for example long press on the home botton wiill let you choose between all homescreens.
good luck
it is possible to change every icon on lg home dock bar.
just move the icon you want to put in the dock bar at the bottom most part of the screen where the icon would suit if it were in the dock bar and it will replace the previous icon.
I'll post a screen shot for proof.

Perfect, seems like a stupid way to do it, but it works!

Home button behaviour

The x10 mini pro has a "two-level" home screen:
the "top" hold the clock, and widgets.
the "bottom" holds the application icons.
Since there are many applications installed, the home screen extends beyond the screen width, which results in "windows", and so it is necessary to scroll left and right to see all the different "windows" and the icons they contain. When pressing the "home" button, the phone will bring up the last viewed "window" of the home screen.
Is there a way to make the "home" button always show the first (left most) "window" of the bottom home screen, namely, the left most window of the icons?.
TIA,
Mike.
In a way, yes...and in a way, no.
The screen(s) with all your apps in is known as the "app drawer". The stock launcher for the X10 Mini Pro will always do what you say, it will always go to the last viewed page of the drawer when you open it.
In theory, you could dig deep into the code of the SemcHome app and make it do what you want. I've no idea what you'd need to do, but it's theoretically possible.
The easiest way is probably just to install a different launcher. Have a look on the Market. I'm using Go Launcher Ex which does the same thing but it does let me put more app icons on one screen (I've got 16 instead of the stock launcher's 9) and you can group apps into individual folders. Or you can just hide the ones you don't need.
So this won't do exactly what you asked for, but it might give you a decent alternative.
Thanks.
Is it possible to place applications and shortcuts icons on the "top" home screen, say in the same screen as the clock?.
Thanks,
Mike
Yes, bascially. Although, again, you'll still need a different launcher for this.
A lot of phones will let you do this from stock but, because ours has a smaller screen, we can only put stuff into the four corners. Download a new launcher and you can cover your screen with app's and shortcuts as much as you want!
You can add shortcuts to the homescreen by long holding an App in the app draw and dragging away from its location to the Homescreen
Thanks all for replying.
ryant: The long press and drag method isn't working on my x10MP with android 2.1 .
I can move the app icon around in the app drawer (left and right screens), but not "up" to where the clock and other widgets live. Have you tried this on an x10MP with a stock launcher?.
Also, I've now found the "multicon" app which allows to place multiple widgets on screen, which is a good enough solution for me.

[Q] APK is installed but not shown on the main screen

Hi,
I installed an app not from the market place but from the internent,
the app installed and opened fine but then i dont see it on the "home" screen
i can see it under the downloadable apps from the "settings" menu
please advice
Just go to the Apps screen, push on your new app's icon for about one second, then start dragging ... drag it to the home screen. Most 3rd party installations do not automatically add the icon to the home screen.
The Apps screen can be accessed by touching the icon of 6 square dots on the upper right of your Prime's screen.
Moved from the ipad, didja? Figures...

[Q] Home screen icons can't be moved, all of a sudden.

Hey guys, I can only move icons out of my lower tray (where the apps button is) onto my screens. I can't move the icons back or even from one screen to the next. If I hold down an icon, it never becomes available to move unless it is in the lower tray (I've been messing around with it and now I only have the apps button and one other button left, all others have been moved out but I can't move any back).
I was listening to earplugs while mowing the lawn. When I got done, my gmail icon (which normally resides in the lower tray next to the apps button) was moved up onto my home screen. When I tried to move it back, nothing happened. I tried to move one of the other icons in the lower tray, address book, and was able to move it to another location in the lower tray and to the home screen. But, I can't move it back to the lower tray either. Nor can I move any icons on any of my screens to a new location. Holding the icon down does nothing.
Does anybody have any ideas?
I'm rooted with S-Off running Viper One ROM.
Thanks!!!
This may or may not be the case but does your launcher have a "lock screen setup" option to wear you can't move the icons?
