Pretty darn sure. Unless you own a HTC Device. Those are HTC settings.....

But my phone manufactor is SAMSUNG.
And even roam controls dev's website says root is required for non-htc phones in the first paragraph.

I tried it and it is not working yet. You have to be rooted. When I hit roam only it looks like it is working because the applications roaming icon shows but it is clearly still on the sprint network. I have emailed the dev.

Lets get back on track here. Hopefully the dev can get this up and running cause it is such a valuable app!

I'm going to look into adding a native "Force Roaming" option for the next iteration in the Warm ROM series. This was one of my favorite features we implemented in our last ROM.

I havent had any luck either with roam control. On a different note, has anyone been able to yo get ur msl code? Im rooted, but the getprop ril.MSL trick didnt work in terminal emulator or connectbot. Im coming from an evo, is it done differently for Samsung? Im assuming i need the msl to put a different prl on too. Please lemme know if there is a different way to put on a custom prl...thx!!

Thx.. i tried that too. I must have looked up and down that list at least 10 times slowly and still couldn't find the msl. I even tried using any 6 digit number i saw in the prop file, but they all failed. Is it possible the sgs3 doesnt have an msl #? The sprint tech said she couldn't find a # either.

Well, on my Evo I was running a Sense 3.0, which was awesome. The stock Amaze isn't too bad, we definitively need a custom kernel. I really am not a fan of CM or AOSP but will always try them. I'm glad to see root has become persistent. More interested in seeing S-off, but from what I've been reading it may not be obtainable .
Ya I'm not really a kernel guy that will be up to someone else more of a rom dev
Sent from my HTC Amaze 4G using xda premium
Yeah me too, but the way I do ROMs is odd and doesn't always work. I just take the things I like from others work and combined it with a good base, and find a great kernel. This doesn't work well with Sense but CM/AOSP/or whatever Samsung had before touchwiz it did.

Today, The developer said it was removed from the market without explanation. He's trying to bring it back.
I have it but it never switch to forced roam on evo 3d cm7
WTH I'ma be pissed if I can't get that back. I purchased that **** in the market!
taken from the general forum:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19827963&postcount=65
I updated the website with a note and a link to the apk (for those who have already purchased the app):
https://sites.google.com/site/roamcontrol/
I appealed the decision, but based on what I've read online, I'm not really expecting a response from Google. I have a few ideas on how to republish the app in such a way that people will retain their licenses, whether the new app is published through the Android Market or the Amazon Appstore. I'll let you know when I have any updates...thanks!
Is there an alternate app for Roam Control? It appears the developer hasn't had any success placing it in the Market or Amazon.

If you're rooted, you can make the edits yourself (or download an already modified Phone.apk) and add the roam only option natively so you don't need an app to do it for you.

Warm TwoPointThree has the functionality already baked in. Enjoy.
MrGreg has finally made a place for those of us that didnt get it before the market took it off.
I just purchased my first copy at the new website
http://www.roamctrl.com/
With paypal.
Installed it on a stock non-rooted EVO3d and works like a charm.
I decided I needed it when I was working at a place that has a call dropping signal and it wore my battery down to 15% by the end of the day. I Installed this and put in roam mode and battery was at like 68% after listening to podcasts all day and I had data (slow but i had it).
Not pushing this like drugs but HEY it works and Sprint dont want you to have it so IT'S GOOD!

Selling Phone Need Advice

Getting ready to sell my 3D and want to make sure that the buyer will be able to activate it on their account with no problems. I'm currently running the MIUI rom on my device and am assuming the best bet would be to put a stock rom on it for them to activate. I want to be able to keep the wireless tether options there for them but they also want to activate in a Sprint store. Any ideas on what the best bet would be to try to make the transaction go as smooth as possible?

Flash a stock rooted rom. In order to move service he will need to update the data profile and whatnot, which needs epst and ## codes. So aosp roms are not an option until service is moved

Since the phone is (probably) already s-off, upgrading to hboot 1.50 does not matter. I've done it multiple times. You can still downgrade hboot and /or flash whatever you want.

Issue was caused on the latest 2.17 update alot of folks even back on 2.08 would get to the unlock code bin apply to unlock the phone. It would say sucess but nothing would happen.. That was the one slight issue. All they needed to do was use the latest RUU exe to fix it. Re do the unlock part and they were good to go...
Most people don't know root and you'll have to explain it to them. Save the hassle, flash stock rom and and sell it.
Personal experience, I had a rooted 4g and it has trouble activating so I had to flash stock and activate it. We had to meet up twice. Don't limit your market by being more informed. If they wanted rooted they would do it themselves

THIS.
I can't wait for this device. Preemptive thanks to all the devs working on this one.
So I have some questions:
1) Does S-on with an unlocked boot loader through HTCDev allow for CM9 and other AOSP ROMs?
2) Does the Kernel source releases on other One X phones include the code for the ImageSense chip? This will be tied into how well the camera performs under CM9, etc.
Thanks!
Dev for the Evo line are the best. I've had the OG Evo, the 3d and now the Evo lte. And this is good news.

I don't see how they'd have any time to fix this before shipping next Wednesday. Plus, how will they know? They better not be so out to get us that they surf the internet forums looking for people who have found ways around their system. And even if they did, would they be able to find out HOW they exploited it? I'm asking hypothetically, because I don't know these answers. But my thinking is that there is way too little time and ability to change anything now. Maybe on the next wave of phones, sure. But our 001 hardware will be exploited mightily it would seem!

Works just fine on my pre-ordered rooted LTEvo. The reason why its giving you guys the "Network Error" is because the initial ripped version of this app was not signed. There is a Signed .Apk for this app somewhere in the forums which would work "flawlessly". If incase its still messing up then fixing the permissions should do it.
