New Voicemail Icon in the Notifications area won't go away... - Galaxy S III Q&A, (US Carriers)

I can't get rid of it.
I listened to all my voicemails, I left new ones and then listened to them, and the icon won't go away.
Any help?

You're A life saver. My sanity was hanging on the balance...

Same thing happened to me, I called myself, left a voice mail, and deleted it. It worked flawlessly.

Happened to me when I first turned on my S3 also. I left myself a voicemail, deleted it and it cleared the notification.

i read that someone had same problem and someone else said leave yourself a voicemail, listen to the whole message and that should clear it

Yeah that's a good idea.
Also I had similar problems with my VM...Honestly I hate checking my VMs because of the tedious procedure that T-Mobile Voicemail hotline forces you to do. Before my Vibrant went Vibroke I switched to Google Voice. It's badass. In most cases it transcribes your Voicemails to text and let's you listen/delete all of your messages without being forced to listening to a stupid robot lady. Definitely worth trying out.
Thanks I tried calling myself several times left a vm then deleted them and still didn't work. I checked all settings in menu/settings/call hoping to find a clear option and nada, nothing, even looked through Root Explorer but didn't know what half the things were I was looking at.
Maybe I can have T-Mob reset msgs, not sure.
Joy Visial Voicemail is great for checking your VM, don't need toi call in at all
Yes, if all that you tried before didn't work you should call up TMO
Visual Voicemail doesn't work for me because I have an older unlimited plan that was grandfatherered into my current contract. I had it before though, and I still prefer Voice over that.
I love this community, I had the same issue and one search of xda and problem solved.
Thanks guys

[Q] Looking for my lost app!!

Hello all, did a factory reset yesterday, backed up all my apps, or so I thought, the market did save some of my paid apps, but not all, and the free ones were gone, glad a I made a list before, anywho, about 2 weeks ago, I downloaded an app that was still in beta stages ,I believe, from a developer here on XDA, it gives notifications of missed texts, emails, and phone calls that puts a little number next to each icon on your home screen, it worked great, and I can't find it again....anywhere, anyone know what I'm talking bout? I remember it saying it was in beta stages and still had a couple bugs, but it worked well for me...thanks
Probably not the one you're looking for but, SMS Unread Count does a similar job.
Let me know if you ever rediscover the original app, sounds like something I might like to try!
was it missed it?
yeah it didnt get saved for some reason, it was pretty cool, with my phone icon and messaging icon on the home screen it would insert the number of misses into the icon, sucks I cant find it!

Are you using stock voicemail or a third party? I had this issue with voice, the icon was from a voicemail hung up on the carrier voicemail that never went to voice, when I cleared up the carrier voice mail it went away.

Yeah I'd already tried that as well, and doing the same to the contacts process. I read somewhere this is only an issue in the f/w version so hopefully the update fixes it.

Try different launcher Nova or Apex...
I think I might have found it!!! I had the same issue that frustrated me, spent a LOT of time researching all the forums and didn't find the answer but used my own initiative and so far has worked for me..
I really hope this works for other's out there and if it is a fix that Samsung adopt it as a fix rather than telling people to factory reset their phone..
Go to Settings > Application Manager > All applications (on the top).
Locate the "BadgeProvider" app, once in there select "clear data"
If it works for you please post your reply.
Thanks yourown
Fixed it 4 me :good:
Worked for me to , big thx .
you also may need to unchek "do not keep activities" under settings------------developer options
Yes this is the solution. Clearing badgeprovider did the trick!

Random notification sound and vibration

Hello all. I have noticed that several times a day my phone will vibrate and the notification sound will play. I look at the phone and i do not have any message. I know it's not roaming because I am right in front of a cell site and have great signal. I did a search and found that folks were having this issue with a yahoo mail app, yet I do not have this app. I am on stock with the latest OTA (until new root comes out). Any ideas? I guess i can live with it as everything else works, but I'm worried that a message might be coming through and i'm missing it.

Its probably Facebook, make sure you disable notification on the facebook app or be woken up at 3am to hear about how much your girl loves twilight and ****

I would have to go through HTC to unlock the bootloader though correct? Want to keep this off the grid as much as possible.

Well when the facebook notifications happen i typically see an icon. I went ahead and disabled the notifications anyways and i'll see where i'm at in a few days I guess.
I am married, but I can say that if a woman of mine ever made a pro twilight post, I would remove her from my life.
unfriended with extreme prejudice! My Facebook notification was pretty sporadic, sometimes it would only appear for the length of time the vibration was happening.
So far, no vibrations. Maybe that was it...
I have had similar issues when I had the Yahoo mail app installed. You can turn off system notifications but it still makes the sound. I since just use the default mail app so not sure if it's still an issue.

My P769 is talking to me?

I have the p769 20h from T-Mobile. Well really Walmart family mobile. My phone is rooted, locked bootloader, and recovery. My phone has just recently started talking to me in a horrible robotic sounding voice LOL. ITS DRIVING ME CRAZY!! When I click to scroll through on certain apps it will talk. Flipboard, Gmail, and a couple others. It doesn't do it on Facebook, taptatalk, or instagram. I have looked and LOOKED all through my settings and can't for the life of me figure out what the heck is going on. Can someone help?

Sounds like you have talkback enabled. On your home screen, click menu then setting. Scroll down to accessibility and the first thing you should see is talkback. Click it and disable it by turning it off.

I already checked out the accessibility settings. Talk back is off. I turned it ON and then OFF and still nothing. I have cleared my cache and all that but it still keeps talking. Oh well... I will just restore it after Christmas. Thank you though!

Alrighty.... it has stopped talking to me. I uninstalled every new app from the last 2 weeks. I don't know what app was causing it though.
