ReZound for 79.99 - HTC Rezound

ReZound is 79.99 with an upgrade/2-yr agreement
Does anyone know if this is only online or is it also in-store...I'm planning on purchasing the phone tomorrow but the Verizon Store is far and the store is obviously closed by now (10:10pm here in South Carolina). Any help or quick response would be great! Thank you!

i believe it's online only as of now. it'll go back up in price soon, though.

Alright...dang...thanks though!

If you want the Rezound and have the contract the $79 is a great deal. I wouldn't be afraid of doing it online. When I ordered mine they even comped the shipping (I ended up having to fight for it after the fact but won the minor battle) but you can ask them on chat if there is anyway to get the shipping free. The process for activation is pretty easy. One thing to note - if you have a 4G phone that you are replacing it with - they will not send out the sim card automatically. But your local store has those and can fix most anything if things get messy.

I ordered mine online a few months ago when it was $50. Phone was here 19hrs later. Popped sim card in and away it went

Hah you guys are getting ripped off if you pay more than $.01 for it that's what I got mine for

The $0.01 deal doesn't exist now... glad you got the deal...
I upgraded my Son's phone to the Rezound yesterday.. $79 + $30 upgrade fee = $109 which you pay upfront. He will have the phone most likely Tuesday.
Will see how long it takes him to S-Off.... I got it 2nd try.

Got mine from Bestbuy the other day. They matched the $80 price that Verizon had. I got $100 for my Inc 2 trade in. I got $50 freedom upgrade. That means I got $80 in my pocket as I left.
I think I beat you AshtonTS.

Go to Best Buy and ask them to price match, sell the beats earbuds because they're garbage and you've paid $30-nothing for your brand new rezound!

eh i paid $250 for mine on launch day..should've been 300, but on the website it said 250 because of a loyalty discount (not new every two because i was using an annual up anyway, so it was a weird unmentioned discount..)
i go int he store, ask if they can match it..at first they say no, so i'm like "ok i'll just go somewhere else that will, or order it online"
then another guy comes over and is like, well wait, lets see what we can do...turns out they were able to match it lol so maybe you can try in a store

Here's a question:
Why do American carriers charge such obscene amounts for cell phones?
For example, I can get an HTC One X with 5000 any network text messages, 2000 any network minutes, 5000 additional minutes when calling those on the same carrier and unlimited data (truly unlimited) for the equivalent of about $50 per month with NO upfront cost for the device (it's free).
I've seen adverts in the US that still ask for an upfront fee for the very outdated HTC Inspire and price plans that are laughable.
Am I missing something?

They are greedy.

Because the United States is roughly 40 times the size of the UK. Carriers figure they have to cover more rural geography while improving speed to satisfy customers in urban areas, particularly Verizon. Then pass the costs onto us.
Glad I got to pay a penny up front for my phone, but this two year contract without unlimited data is a steep price in the long run.

You seriously don't pay anything for your phones over in London, and get cheaper prices? Holy hell.... we get hit hard here in America. :-( Always a few $100 everytime we want to upgrade, unless we can hit a great deal, and even then... buying the phones the cheapest part of the process. I pay nearly $230 a month for 2 phones. *sigh*

Most of these would be orders cancelled within the past 3 months or returned, so condition can't be that bad. I want to say a majority would be those returned by people who wanted the SkyRocket, so yeah, good stuff.
Thanks for the heads up. Think i'll get a couple for my kids.

Edit: nevermind. Got the penny deal.

Just ordered one, getting rid of the laggy captivate.......... Hopefully I get a GPS that doesn't need medication finally.
refurbs only have 90-day warranty. So, be prepared. You are in it for 2-year contract. If it broke at day 91, you are SOL.

No doubt, I always randomly check whenever we have upgrades available on our lines. Had got a HD7S a couple months ago that was normally 200 for a penny. Brand new, not refurb.

I was trying to buy one of these for $0.01 on Friday but ended up getting it for $9.99.
I was having trouble completing the process because there was no option for unlimited data plan, this was around 745pm. After speaking with someone over the phone on ATT they said that they made notes on my profile and to go ahead and but it under the 4GB data plan and they would change it back to unlimited before I activated the GSII. So I proceeded to do so but I noticed that the price had changed to $9.99. Im assuming the change happened at 8pm my time (EST) but not sure why they would do this on a weekend, oh well no penny phone for me but 10 bucks isn't so bad either.
I got one for $99 from radioshack with full warranty. Still a good deal for this phone.
I rather pay 99 at Radioshack then free refurb.

most likely nothing to worry about. And if you do have a problem with it, you'll most likely come across the problem fairly quickly so warranty is not usually a problem.

________
Long story short, AT&T messed up their tax charge calculation... how can EST. TAX be $48.12???? Called a sales Rep only to be flogged off to call back later when the phone arrives with the billing note to confirm the charges and seek a credit.
-10 for AT&T Customer services! As unhelpful as always.
I believe that they charge tax based upon the full retail price.

(I've had Android before so I'm fairly familiar...well, really familiar, with it so that might help). I figured 90 days is okay and mine line has insurance so that helps extend it as well correct? I'm content. Love it.

Upgrade fee change! It's now doubled!

I've been off all week, but this will be an interesting change to go back to work with on Monday. I just saw it on Engadget...
Well one thing I will say is preorder the Galaxy Note before sunday, the upgrade is processed immediately thus your fee with only be $18 if you upgrade today or tomorrow before the change on Sunday. This applies to at&t upgrades only, I am not sure how third party upgrades process such as Best Buy, etc...
- Dan
I went into the store and preordered mine and they told me that I made it just before the upgrade fee increase. Then they waived it.
I reserved my note @ Best Buy. They have not charged the upgrade fee, so well see. I'm sure AT&T will waive it, though. They are usually good about stuff like that...

This upgrade fee should only apply if you order directly from at&t in some manner?
But if you order from 3rd party group like Amazon, Costco, etc.... we should be safe from this bs?

I believe you are still charged the upgrade fee. You just don't see it because it appears on your next bill.
Tell me if I'm wrong though.
Some 3rd party retailer can wavie the upgrade fee but usually they will say so up front. AT&T still charges the fee but those retailers give you money back.
My Perimer account has been showing up with $36 upgrade fee for a year now. And also consistently shows new phone releases $100 more than non-primer acccounts or stores.
So, AT&T is simply leveling the field for all customers. Sooner or later, your new phone will be $100 more (so GS2 will be $299 and Note will be $399) as well if this trend continues.
AT&T will always try to nickel and dime you with some ridiculous charges. You just have to know how to call and complain about the charges and they will drop it for you. Every time they tried to charge me those ridiculous fees I called and complained and got it waved.

Agreed. It is like this with Comcast, too. If you have shown loyalty as a long time customer and tell them you are dissatisfied, charges like this are easily negotiable.
I used to be a long time loyal customer . . . had a corporate account over 10 years old predating the cingular merger. Then I went and got married. Trying to get the frickers to add my wife to my account was like I was like talking to a brick wall... it took three days of being on the phone over eight hours (that's 24 hours total, mind you, not 8 hours spread over three days) and the only solution they ever found was to cancel my current account and create a new one from scrap. So now I'm only a 2 year customer instead of a 10+ year corporate customer. Grrrrr.

Yes Comcast Is exactly like that. I have had Adelphia cable and Comcast tool them over years ago. They jacked up the prices around two years ago. My dad called and complained. Said he would was going to Go to direct tv. They gave us an he upgrade, free DVR upgrade, top of the line Internet, free phone, and another he box for 1/2 the price per month. With that all added to our other stuff we only pay around $150 a month.
AT&T on the hand has never done anything like that for us. We have been with them when they were still Cingular. In fact my mom just get her Cingular sim card replaced with her 3G one fort her iPhone. They don't do crap for us. We pay close to $300 a month (and this month more that $300, do the new fee) and it continually rises because of these new data plans. I was in the market for a new network this time around, but they all suck. I have never been throttled, never went over my limit, my mom pays for the 2gb data plans on all of our accounts, and combined we use about 2.7gb per month. (thats 1.5 for me, 1.1 for my sister and .1 for my mom.)
My only other option was Verizon and the galaxy nexus but I chose the note and AT&T.
I hope I don't have to regret it.

Upgrade fee is something that ATT CSR can easily remove for you. You just have to call and be friendly with them. I haven't yet to have any issue convincing them that upgrade fee is unreasonable (knock on wood). So the least you can try is reduce it to $18 if you get charged $36 by telling CSR that you preordered before the price increase date. I would first try to get the whole thing removed via 611.

Howbdo people do it? Meaning I see people getting new phones all the time and claim they pay for the discounted price (like an upgrade). The only way is you have to buy out your ETF on your line. I payed out mine last week, $160 per line and bought two new EVO 4G LTE's from Sprints EVP program at upgrade price. Even if you don't have EVP it is the same thing, call in *2 and tell them you want to buy out your ETF so you can upgrade your phone.
I have two lines and I keep them on a rotation. My mom uses the other line and every other year her phone upgrades. Like wise on the years hers doesn't mine does.
I use both upgrades and I get a new phone every year handing down my old phone to her. If she doesn't like my phone, I buy her a cheaper one at full price...they cheap ones are only about $150 bux max for a refurbished one.
The first time I tried this, they had the policy that I had to switch numbers with her, but they have since gotten rid of that policy. Shhhh, don't tell anyone.

I didn't "Work them over" I took advantage of an offer they have to buy out the remaining 10 months of waiting on my upgrade.
Once you get to 1 year left it costs about $115.
Considering I was going to TRY to find a used EVOLTE for around 350 when it hit that price, I beat that out by a few bucks (115 +200)
I plan on waiting for my 1 year mark. My 3D has been restarting randomly about once or twice a week for some reason. I'm not rooted and I've restored the phone twice already. I plan on getting it replaced and then selling it. Whatever I make will be used to pay for ETF and hopefully some of the new phone. Gonna wait to see the SG3 and then decide what I want.
Worst case scenario: They just fix my 3D and I sell it with only enough to cover ETF.
Best case scenario: They replace my 3D with an Evo LTE muahahahha!

If you got a launch 3D, sprints etf was alot cheaper then, I think it was around 200 for an etf vs the 350 it is now, so in that respect you should consider when you bought it and see what's up

Or, you can wait until the insurance companies offer the EVO LTE as a replacement device and get it for only $100...or even free. I know for the Evo 3D it happened relatively quick. I think in just 3-4 months after it's release.

Save more with pre-order
Back in a bout february, Best Buy mobile held a promotion where you attached your email address to all lines that were available for upgrade in 2012. Later, when you upgrade, you get a $50 gift card which you can use towards the purchase. Additionally, they give another $50 for pre-ordering.
In short, I'm paying $100 for my EVO LTE, and using my sisters upgrade, (She can just wait till October or I'll give her my E3D, Its way better than the Optimus she's running on.

Correct.
Taken from the Sprint ETF Page:
If you've entered into a two-year contract after Sept. 9, 2011 and choose to terminate or cancel your service before your contract ends, you will be charged an early termination fee of up to $350/line for Advanced Devices & up to $200/line for all other devices. No early termination fee applies for cancellations in compliance with Sprint's Return Policy.
The early termination fee is prorated and is calculated by taking the months remaining on your Service Agreement times $20 for Advanced Devices, with a maximum of $350, and minimum of $100. For all other devices, the prorated ETF is calculated by taking the months remaining times $10 with a maximum of $200 and minimum of $50.
Use the charts below to calculate your exact early termination fee. If you are cancelling multiple lines on your account, calculate the remaining number of months on each line, locate the corresponding amounts and add them together to reach your total. If you entered into a contract prior to Sept. 9, 2011, use the other devices chart to calculate your exact early termination fee.
Also keep in mind you can usually sell your 1 year old Smart phone for $200-ish no contract if in mint shape. Mine are always in mint shape
So it generally will never cost more than $200 or so a year to stay current.
I passed my 3D on to my wife (which Sprint just replaced with a brand new one) and used her upgrade for the LTE.
So do you just call Sprint and tell them you wanna pay the ETF and go month to month off contract? I'm assuming that would allow you to upgrade for 2 more years at 199 for the Evo LTE.
I have the Best Buy buyback on my E3D, so I can essentially get the Evo LTE for free since they will give me about $240 in credit for it
good read here on it. I am very tempted, but I feel as if a functional sense 4.0 rom will be enough to hold onto the 3d for another year.

[Q] My phone upgrades are available, what are my options?

I'm on Verizon obviously and I was lucky enough (at the time) to have been grandfathered into that 1400 minute plan with unlimited data. We have two phones, HTC Rezound(mine) and a Motorola DX2(wife), both do for upgrades in August. I'm probably going to wait until some new phones come out, nothing I see entices me right now.
Down to the point, how can we upgrade without losing our unlimited data? What are our options, any way to get around this? My wife is dying for a new phone, here DX2 is 2 years old and falling apart plus I'd love to get away from HTC. I appreciate any help with this.
Really the only way is to buy a phone off-contract.
Yeah as far as buying new, either catch a sale right around launch and buy it retail or wait until the phones been out a few months or so until they're cheaper than the retail price at online auctions or classified listing.
Or you can add a new line and get a new phone. Then swap Sims and activate an old dumb phone on the new line which allows you to not have to pay the $30 smartphone package. Ends up costing about 12-15 after the 9.99 monthly charge with taxes and usage fees added on.

I guess you have to buy one off contract. Swappa is great for buying gently used phones. Or you could buy a Nexus 4 or Nexus 5 when it comes out.

If I remember that thread he got it by transferring the upgrade from one line to his or something. I think that's what happened.
Right now I'm on the old Nationwide Family Talk & Text plan. We have 2 phones; 1400 min, unlimited data and text. My girlfriend and I don't even come close to 1400. I took a screenshot of my data usage and my gf's from the vzw app. I believe it shows that I used over 5gb for this billing period so far? Am I able to see last months total data usage online? My 3yr old uses my phone a lot so I'm worried about tier data plans. Oh and we pay about $175 a month for this plan for two phones which is insane
I think these are all of my options? Which do you feel is the best for me in the long run?
A. Pay full retail for two new phones and use the monthly payment plan so I can keep my unlimited data?
B. Switch to a data tier plan and drop unlimited so I can get the 2yr phone discount prices?
C. Wait until Dec when my contract is done and then switch to another carrier?
D. Try and find a use phone on Craigslist?
Right now I have a Rezound (used from Asurion) and my GF has a cracked DX2. Where looking at maybe the S4 or a 5s when it comes out. We always wanted to try iPhones.

[Q] Note 3 on Sprint new One Up

I looked at every blog and cant find a straight answer. So if I am due for a phone upgrade...With Sprint one up plan i can get the note 3 for 0 down "no money upfront" and makes payments each bill cycle? At the end of owning the phone 1 yr i can do get another phone again with 0 down?
I'm in a similar situation, I want to swap the note 3 after a year or 6 months to get triband lte (I'm in a wimax area).
Currently on a family unlimited plan but wondering if I can do the jump program for a year.

I am doing the One Up on Friday to go from Note 2 to the Note 3. You have to pay sales tax on the full retail price of the phone up front then you start your monthly payments. After 12 months you can use the One Up again on that line to get another new phone. This way actually saves me money. If the price is $699.99 then I will be paying about $58 on tax and then right at $30 per month. So one year of payments would be $350 then I could start all over again with the Note 4. Since I usually buy a phone at full price when I am in the middle of a 24 month contract, the One Up program is going to end up being cheaper for me.

I called my local store about this. The thing that I think people miss about it is that you cannot upgrade to the next phone (in your case Note 4) until you have completely paid off your Note 3. So a year in you still have to pay another $439, assuming they put retail at $799. Also I am pretty sure that at that time you surrender your old device to them meaning the argument about picking up the difference via a private party sale is out the window too. Then you'll have to put a down payment to get your Note 4 on top of that since the no down payment option is only a limited time deal! For that reason I'm not jumping into the One UP at this time...
I was told by my local store that it works the way I described. That is the whole point of the One Up program. To allow customers to upgradeevery year. One of the social care people on sprints forums even states " you will be eligible for a new phone after we recieve 12 payments for the phone"
I would go in the store and ask or call a different store.

Yes you are eligible that is true but you are still due 24 months payments, meaning if you have remaining balance on your phone you have to pay that! If I'm wrong someone show me some official documentation because I can't find it.

That doesn't make sense from what they told you. How is it a one up program if i don't get a device each yr. The limited time yes is for 0 down but you have to be able to get a new device in a yr to call it One Up. Otherwise I would just pay $350 for device up front and get another device in 2 yrs vs paying full price. From what i heard you don't own the device and you are turning it back in, hence the reason you are not paying full price and allowed to upgrade in a yr.
Sprint is really going down hill with the softbank merger. Confusing everyone even their employees.
We have had one statement from Sprint only saying it will be release Oct 4th. No promotion or anything. The one up hasn't been fully vetted and its live and active. This is crazy!
Exactly it's like they are trying to copy the auto industry and develop a phone "lease" program. I love the thought of early upgrades (R.I.P. Gold member program) however I was told that you have to pay the remaining payments before you can upgrade to your next phone. Would love for this to be wrong but need someone to find some actual proof from the sprint either way.

That would be the same as current plans...If i wanted to upgrade to a new phone from Note 2 in less then a yr i just pay the early termination. After a yr on contract the termination would be less then $200. So if i paid $300 to get the device and $200 to cancel contract that's only $500. Still $200- $300 shy of original price. As this wouldn't make any sense i am sure One Up has to be cheaper in the fact of getting a new device each yr.

I just now called customer care and asked them. I explained to the rep (Kelly) what I was planning and asked about the remaining 12 months of payment if I One Uped again in 12 months. Kelly put me on hold while she looked into it and she came back and said that after 12 months of payment I could do the one up again. I asked again to clarify that they remaining 12 months of payments went away and she said yes as long as you turn in the phone.

Yea that's what i figured. That's the only way this plan could work lol. Im still upset that sprint has not made a bigger effort to explain this. Its like they don't want anyone to know they are doing 0 down. Maybe after 0 down ends they will start advertising.

Don't forget the $15 per month discount that you get off your bill for as long as your in the one up program. With that your essentially only paying 15 per month for the phone.
Say if you were to upgrade to the Note 4 at year one, do you own the Note 4 at year 2 after completing 24 payments?
If that is true, One up makes a lot of sense because you could then sell the Note 4 that you upgraded to for more cash at year 2 than a Note 3 you would have had to kept for two years with the standard subsidized route.
Yea, my upgrade isn't until January, they want me to give them my "one" to switch to one up and get the note 3. Eff that. I'll probably just switch to AT&T. They tried to switch me to customer retention but I was on hold a good 15 minutes and I had to go to work . I don't mind giving up the note 3 in 12 months while on the new plan, but I'm not giving them a phone I just paid full price for.

There is alot of confusion on the one up program but you pay 12 months on a phone and then if u want to upgrade again you have to hand tje phone over and start paying on another. That's hiw tje other 12 payments are gone. It's a cool idea that I'm gonna take advantage of. Plus the 15 off the monthly bill is awesome. So it would only be about 15 extra to get the note 3.

I'm in a similar situation. I pre-ordered the Evo LTE, so I can't do a standard upgrade until 1-1-14. Shortly after receiving my pre-ordered black Evo LTE, Sprint announced the white Evo LTE and I bought it at retail. Around May of this year I bought a Note 2 at retail. Even though I'm still in contract, the active device on my line is not what I bought at contract price. After talking with 3 reps at 611 and 2 reps at 2 different local stores, I was getting mixed responses about whether or not I'd have to trade in a phone to start the One Up program. I finally called 611 again and asked a rep then had her verify it with her manager. She told me that I do NOT have to trade in any phone to start the One Up program since my active device wasn't purchased at contract price and because it had been over a year. I had her put notes on my account saying that I do NOT have to trade in a phone to get the Note 3 Friday morning and begin the One Up program! I still have my black Evo LTE and white Evo LTE, so I'm going to take my black LTE with me just to be safe in case they do require me to trade it in. I could sell it on ebay for $150-200, but to me it would be worth paying that to upgrade early during the Note 3 release. Hopefully they'll expect nothing from me except taxes on the Note 3, and I'll be good to go. I can let ya know for sure in just under 8 hours when my local Sprint store opens up. I will be there at 10am when they open to get me a white Note 3!!! Hoping that all goes smoothly!!

I'm either gonna convince them to let me start the program without trading in my "One" or I'm gonna go give At&t a try for a while. I've been on the fence about leaving anyway, I'm ready for 4g. Sprint is not only making me pay 50$ than anyone for the Note, and now they want my phone that I didn't even get from them? Heck no

It can be almost any phone. Upgraded to the s3 when it came out for my original upgrade. Switched to note 2 midway through contract. Upgrade I was scheduled for was feb 2014. Activated my old evo and turned that in for the note 3 this morning.

Be prepared to wait if you're getting the Note 3 on the One Up program! I was the only customer in the store and had to wait 1.5 hours for them to finally get it to go through for me! They even called Sprint and confirmed that everyone is having problems with it this morning. They told me that no over else has got it to work yet, but I was willing to wait all day, lol. Just be patient though, they eventually got it for me!!
