I purchased my Evo 3D USED about a week ago, activated it, and everything BUT 4G works.
I have another 4G phone (Epic 4G) and it connects perfectly fine.
I called sprint twice, once one day after activation, and another a week after activation, both time they lead me through the same process, updating the profile info, resetting the msdn info, etc and on the second call they ruled it as a hardware issue.
Current state of my Evo 3D
S-OFF Revolutionary
1.4 hboot
Running MikVirgin.
Tried Stock Rom
Tried Mean Rom
I've tried going outside and going to other places with 4G, but to no avail 4G does not work.
I turn 4G on,
1. scan
2. connecting to sprint
3. authenticating with sprint
4. disconnected
I "upgraded" from a Samsung Replenish which waived the 10$ surcharge that is put on smartphones, could this be part of my problem?
I am able to return the phone but first want to be sure that the phone is indeed the problem.

Try mwakious 3.0 ROM for HTC EVO 3D or try a RUU to bring you back to stock everything and it will work I hope.

It sounds like he is cdma so that rom won't work. I'm grasping at straws, but it sounds like his phone is not provisioned properly for 4G on the network. It seems like it tries to authenticate and is being denied.

I did call sprint, so wouldn't they have pointed out that maybe my plan, or my phone wasn't correctly configured to connect to 4G, and wouldn't updating the profile correct the problem?

One would hope they were competent. I was guessing based on it said authenticating then disconnect and that you are not paying the surcharge. You may need to take it to the Sprint store for repair.

Hey Fellas, i used Revolution to root my phone, i have since put many roms on my phone, the rom i currently have is shooter sense 3.0....i love the ROM its awesome, i am in a 4G coverage area and my 4G just says scanning but never connects, just says scannning, so i restored back to some stock rooted rom that i d/l online, 4g still doesnt work. so i then d/l the latest radio by Caulking or whatever, and still no 4G, just says scanning, oi am now back to the shooter sense 3.0 rom and still no 4G, and im in a 4G coverage area, how do i fix this?

Go into the setting click the system info or something and you will find a thing that says update profile. Click that and it should work

Had this same issue occur on my EVO4G, back in the day. Basically when they first were new. Messed around too much and somehow lost my WiMax keys. Since then I believe they've come up with several ways to repair the issue. What I did then was RUU back to factory, and start the whole root process over. That got my WiMax back.

Reset to factory RUU using the supersonic RUU utility, on the hboot screen it still says s-off and revolutionary at the top...Sole Conslusion is that this phone, per revolutionary CANNOT be unrooted, now that i have the bone stock rom on my evo, the 4G doesnt work, i know this because on the stock evo rom, while searching for 4g you get in the top left part of the screen it states "4G!" which means there is no 4G, well that little symbol is not on the top the screen in either my new rom or the stock rom, stating something is wrong with my 4G...i think i have a unique situation that i need to be fixed...and i cannot find a fix for this

i did, i ran RUU_Supersonic_1.32.651.1_Radio_1.39.00.04.26_release_171253...same problem
Try flashing the pc36.img file from bootloader. Did u already try updating your prl?

i do sometimes see that when i go to an area where it would typically roam, it instead says 1X at the top, i will check to see this evdo thing you speak of right now
I got my Evo LTE in and wanted to know if it is capable of being flashed to work on verizon. Family member has a verizon account and I wanted to get my phone (EVO LTE) added to their account.
I saw a video on youtube showing it was flashed to verizon prepaid but I wanted to do it for post paid. Also that video was a sales ad and not a how to. Is this even possible since its a new phone?
Most likely yes but I doubt if LTE works. This phone is currently flashable to cricket, metro PCs, and boost mobile.

dont need it to work on lte. 3g evdo is fine. i can get 2mbps on that and thats more than enough for now.
I wasnt able to find the software on here though. anyone know where? I google but didnt find anything.
I can get you the names of the software I used to flash mine to cricket. Your gonna need a Verizon prl.

Ya its technically compatible, if you can jump through the hoops regarding their ESN datanase. However, LTE will NOT wotk, there's no need to guess. This phone is compatible with 1900MHz LTE, Verizon uses 700MHz (one of the reasons it achieves such great penetration).

I got it working but data is not stable. it will drop off every so often. anyone else have an update?
If I have a Verizon phone that I used as the donor, pull NV items 464-466 and 1192-1194 then save the nam if I have workshop 3.x.x if not use qpst

i did all that but its seems to be working with fast data speeds just evry few minutes the data drops an reconnects. Its annoying and i have a good signal and i know its not the 3g coverage cuz i used an evo 3d and galaxy s2 with no problems just having issues with the lte

would you be able to help me out? I dont have a donor phone. would this require just a verizon donor phone? would I be able to use a used donor phone? One thats already activated on an actual account (fascinate).

Sure if you want 3g speeds then yes you need a Verizon donor like the fascinate. Plus you need a cheap Verizon prepaid phone. One that's not activated yet. You can a fascinate that's currently active just have to back up its settings so you can restore it when your finished with it. But the prepaid phone needs not be activated

Do you have any more information about how I can go about doing this?
It's is possible it would require a reprogramming of the DSP. This has NEVER been done other than MTF.
If someone can obtain a similar phone with the SAME chipset on Verizon it could be cloned.
Don't hold you breath, but I think all LTE chipsets are capable of the entire spectrum meaning it's software.
Any word on this?
I'm also looking to switch to Verizon and I don't like any of the phones in Verizons line up

I'm stuck in a pickle where my phone won't roam anymore unless i go in to do some manual switching on things. From what I'm told the fixe is to ruu and re-provision to fix it. Of course though nobody is elaborating on exactly what the re-provisioning is? Anybody hook me up?

Ok so I'm having this same issue. I cannot get my phone to roam with data! I used the 11115 prl for a while and after the radio update I haven't been able to get my phone to roam correctly! I've done a full reset, reprovision, etc.... Nothing seems to be working! Help!
Hey guys, having a bit of trouble that I'm hoping someone can help out with!
I've managed to flash my 3D over to VM somewhat successfully - I have data working properly, text messaging working, and MMS working, however I have NO calling. Original error is "Your account could not be validated" until I send a text message, then it switches to "Error 16". If I try to call someone again immediately after error 16, I get the original validation error.
I already have the MDN and MSID set to what they should be, which is the most common issue I've seen gone wrong.
If anyone else has any insight, I would very much appreciate it!

Thanks for the link, it looks like it might be the issue, but will it work with it being flashed to VM do you know? The phone was my old phone before I got the LTE, so it's also been deactivated from my account before switching to VM...

can u post the method u used to get it on virgin mobile? a meager search on google resulted in people posting how it was impossible to get on virgin with a sprint phone.

dealing with the same issue here. Have some threads on my flash here but cant seem to get past this error 16.
will call virgin in morning and bs them and tell them i need a refresh on my kyocera jax....really an htc evo 4g
Error 16 is caused by 2 devices using the same ESN, both active for a moment. I have found that if you do an ESN swap to another phone and the back to your flashed ESN, you'll be fine. BUT NEVER EVER HAVE BOTH POWERED ON AT THE SAME TIME (unless you blank the ESN on the donor phone, of course!)
Last night I decided to try to update my prl through the updater in Sense and I got an error code 1233. Called sprint tech support and spent an hour trying to get it fixed. The tech ended up just sending me a new phone, which a huge buzz kill because I've had hboot 1.12 since the beginning with s-off. Was running toasted-deck from irc, and I don't know if that had anything to do with my phone getting screwed up so I figured I'd ask if anyone else has had this problem? I want to unlock this new phone when I get it too, and I'm really going to miss TD if this is a common problem.

OF wouldn't accept a new phone there's a method of fixing it with WiFi and checking HTC updates then rebooting

I was getting this too. I had to run an errand up to another major city north of where I live. While there, I figured I'd give it a shot again, and it worked there. If you get the opportunity, try running it in a different area from where you tried.
I'm surprised that they are sending you a new phone for this.

I searched high and low for a fix before I even called Sprint Tech. Any chance you can point me in the right direction? I'll just send them their locked down phone back if I can fix this one.

Unfortunately I did try in a few different areas. I live in Cincinnati and go to school in Dayton, but got the same error in both places. I really wonder how this even happened because I never had a problem running AOSP on my OG EVO so I don't think that could be it.
I had this happen on my 3D and when it did work it only connected to Verizon....weird I know and even the tech couldn't believe but I did a data reset on it and never had that problem again.

So I was on stock with goodies and just out of curiosity switched to mean rom to try and activate my phone. The activation went off without a hitch and now my phone is working perfectly again. So pumped.

I get the error code also, im on flex 2.18 I'm gonna try a different rom tomorrow to see if it still does it, another thing that's driving me crazy is when i call my wife's or my brothers phone it rings once then goes to a busy signal i have to force my phone to roam to call them and it only happens when i call one of them and all three phones are on my account

OK i flashed to mean rom and now I'm able to update prl and profile without getting the error, as for the busy tone it was gv, i signed out of gv the calls went thru then i signed back in and get the busy signal again, which sucks because that's never happened before till now.

I had the same problem a few days ago. I was Running CM10 and switched over to Stock w/ Goodies to update my PRL and Profile so i can take advantage of LA's new LTE network but i kept getting that error. I ended up unrooting and relocking my phone and restored to complete stock after that it updated fine the first time. I doubt being rooted prevents you from updating either the PRL or Profile.
I was getting the same error code at work. I googled the code ansomeone said it was a connection problem. I believe this because I never get a good signal at work. When I got home my prl updated. I'm on meanrom.
Easy Fix
Turn off WiFi and LTE radio (CDMA only) and try it. You should be able to update the PRL and Profile.
As "zAcHcOmA" mentioned, I also gave them a Thanks for it.. I had the same issue with "Error Code 1233".
My problem started when I noticed every incoming call I tried to answer thru the Handset would basically act as if I missed the call. Seems I didn't have an issue answering through Blue Tooth though. Not exactly sure what is causing this. I'll keep an eye on it after updating my PRL & Profile. Anyways, I did the following and was able to update both PRL & Profile..
1. Make sure Wireless is off
2. Set network to by going to Settings - Mobile Data - Network Mode "CDMA only"
3. I was then able to update both PRL & Profile through System Updates and I then rebooted my phone.
I'll now find out if my issue is resolved or if I still have on going issues.
