[Q] Standard tones for keypress on phone dialing - Galaxy S III Q&A, (US Carriers)

I know it may be petty but I hate the sounds played while dialing a phone number and while your on the phone and need to press a button, the sounds are hideous. Does anybody know a way to get the standard phone key button tone sound applied? Thanks in advance!

After doing some research, it appears that you may have to replace some system sound files to do it..which means you'll have to be rooted. At least that's the solution in the international forums.
Otherwise, you may be better off just silencing the keypress sounds.

Volume Problems..

Well, it said on the 3.2.2 rom that it there was a volume increase, but it seems to be worse then my stock phone. When my phone rings, or I get a new text message, or I'm using the speaker phone the volume is really low. Do I have to do something extra to increase the volume?
I'm also having a problem with my Sounds and Notifications on my phone. The default is for none of them to be checked. I check everything and it works fine for about a day and then they all become unchecked again and I have to be constantaly re-checking them. Does anybody know why that keeps happening?
Thank you for your help and time.
I have used this GC Audiopara. It needs to be on flashed Rom's only not on stock. Learned first hand scrwing a coworkers phone up.
Run the file and it should do a soft rest and your on off and running. Makes the speaker phone work perfectly.
I found this information:

Is it better than replacing the old AudioPara.Cab?
I think so. It is a easy registry edit and doesn't use
up extra memory. Nothing to download.

The audiopara cab doesn't take up any memory lol. All it does is replace the current audiopara.csv in \Windows with an updated one. That registry edit only addresses one volume setting, while audiopara addresses all volume settings across the phone.
GC...good point...
So do I perform the cab update then? I am tech support as well and I spend hours on my BT and any volume increase is good...not that it is bad now on rom 3.22 but I have to go in/out of warehouse. The Jawbone does a good job keeping noise from others but I can use a bit more on my end...
So can I safely do this update on rom 3.22 or would that reg hack be better for me?
Thx

Use the cab, it's definitely better. Plus, if you want to go back to the original audiopara, I have a cab that will revert it back (but I don't think you'll want to)

That reg edit does nothing with the BT volume.....GC's cab does.....if that doesn't work for you...try this...you can go in and adjust it however you like it....same thing as GC's but you can customize it yourself...which is not always easy on volume control....GL

[Q] Stock Dialer sounds...

Apologies to any devs for coming across as annoyed......but
It seems there is a trend to change the audio theme of the dialer's buttons to this rather goofy (to me, to each his own) drip-drip-drip sound effect rather than proper DTMF tones. I've been making do with the corporate voicemail system I have to use on a daily basis by utilizing a 3rd party dialer....but I'm to the point I'd rather just get rid of drippety-drip-drip.
My problem is I'm not sure where the audio assets are located, so I can rip them from a stock rom (currently runing Juwe, which is based on 2.2.1 JS8 for the i9000) and fix this minor annoyance for myself.
Any help is appreciated!
if im not mistaken this should be located in the /system/media/audio directory
/system/media/audio/ui
The files are in .ogg
Key0.ogg - KeyAsterisk.ogg and KeySharp.ogg
Well...I have no files remotely like that in /system/media/audio/ui so I'm at a bit of a loss still...

Im fairly certain the twwaterdrop is what you are hearing. Although, the tones you hear when you hit your buttons should be entirely different from the tones the phone sends out on an active line. Your phone should still send normal tones no matter what you hear.

Don't beat yourself up bro, I have been in IT, telecom, and communications since '98. I would never had known that little factoid if another tech who knows a lot more than I do told me that one day. But thats what we have this community for man, to help each other out.
LOL I hear ya. I was phreaking before most in this forum were alive, but in an ironic sort of way it's comforting that I can still miss the obvious.

[Q] Want "ping" instead of "plop" when dialling

Now while I like the "nature" theme of the SIII as much as the next guy, I've got one problem with it.
Like the title says, I really dislike the "plop" sound that you get when dialling, and would much prefer to have a proper (?) dialling tone, e.g. where each key has a different note.
Try as I might, I can't find any easy way to switch to dial tones like I had on my old SE X10, so unless someone out there's got a solution, I can see I'm going to end up switching off dial noises altogether.
+1
Why hasn't anyone answered this question? It's important to have these tones when calling an automated system.

It does actually send the correct tone down the line, you just hear a different one locally. It's hard to say if there is an easy fix, because there should be a sound assignment to each key in the Phone apk or related, and if Sammy has replaced them all with a single one, it might not be so easily modified to point each button at a seperate sound.
All I can suggest is to get an alternative dialer, perhaps the AOSP one?
When I called my bank, it didn't work. I switched from short tones to long ones and it still didn't work.
If I can find a different dialer I guess I'll try it.

That's very strange because it's practically a critical feature that the phone dialer can send DTMF tones. I use it regularly myself so I can promise you that it does work for some of us, it could very well be a problem with your bank. Try rip the phone apk out of a Cyanogen build or similar if there are no dependencies, or if you get a dialer from the play Store pay careful attention to how reliable it is and its permissions, just in case.
I asked this question weeks ago and no one has come up with any 'fix' for it...
The tones you hear when pressing a key have nothing to do with the tones the phone sends as described.
Try calling another phone and pressing the keys, you should hear a distinction between all single tones. (If not, please have your ears checked )
Did you have a good connection when calling the bank? The tones heavily rely on a halfway acceptable connection.
If you still want to hear distinct tones, try other diallers such as Go Dialler. They might be able to do it since it's onlce purely cosmetical.
It could be a problem on the bank's end because Google Voice works.

I'm going to agree with what's said here - while plopping noise IS annoying, I've not had any problems with automated "Press 1 for ..., press 2 for ..., or wait on the line and an operator will assist you" services - they all seem to work. So, the problem - for me at least - is purely cosmetic.
I'd assumed that the plop had been part of the theme that Sammy had applied to the SIII, in which case an experienced themer should be able to undo this in favour of some a bit less crappy. Although not being a 'droid developer or themer myself (merely a user) I've no idea where to start looking for that kind of info - fingers crossed that it's in a configuration file somewhere in the system.
I have been annoyed by this also. I myself am so use to hearing dial tones, that I'm just missing the sound, and just want them back.
I found this, where a user replaced the waterdrop with DTMF tones........but its for the Galaxy s......Good news is the zip has all the tone .ogg's. Maybe someone can look and it and figure out a way to port?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1361687
I'm also missing the well known DTMF tones and pissed about that bubbles.
"Nature inspired" concept and our device desing is very nice but this chage is absolutely stupid.
Nature don't has phones growing in trees an phone calling couldn't sound like a leaking tap.
Hope somebody was able to port this SII mod to our device...

I seek for a replacement for bluetooth sharing applet

Hi, firstly I needed to find which application actually does the notification whenever a file is sent over BT to phone so that I could assign it a custom alert in NotifyPro and secondly I look for an replacement for this because I realized there's no way to turn off or set default for the annoying Accept/Deny confirmation on each attempt to receive file, even from trusted devices. Unfortunatelly I have bad luck with finding the system component which cares about this. Suggestions please, thanks.

WhatsApp recording volume is very VERY LOW on open source roms

why is recording mic is good on all apps and is actually very high on some (phone app) in AOSP roms like carbon rom and all those roms
but when it comes to whatsapp! the recording is very very low I shove the phone down my throat and yell and still maybe get to 25% volume loudness compared to stock rom!?
is there a fix for this? I am addicted to AOSP roms cuz they are A LOT snappier than sony software and this issue really kills
and before any one jumps and says "record on a recording app and attach the file in whatsapp" its not so easy talking to some one urgently (other wise I would take my time typing) and have to use different apps and keep going back and forth... i need a fix please

Same problem here. The question is: Which one? There are so many mixer_paths. As a non-professional it's hard to choose the right one.

This old thread saved me! Thanks a lot [email protected], you fixed my low whatsapp volume (video and voice messages) problem with your .xml file.
First had trouble opening it on my phone, FX Eplorer was showing an error at opening. Had to copy/paste text and save as .txt, then change it back as .xml on my phone. And it worked like a charm after a reboot.
So cheers! :victory:
