[Q] how do i change SMS sound? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

where do i go to change the SMS sound? I went to the notification sound and change it but it didn't happen. The SMS sound is set on "whistle" right now.

I know for most Android phones, SMS sound comes from notification sound. Since that did not work for you, what kind of application are you using? Are you using WhatsApp?

Im not using any app at all. I'm on stock rom. When I change sound on the Notification ringtone it work when i get emails or other app notification. The SMS sound is set on "whistle"

If stock open the message app and go into its settings to change the notification sound. It should work and yes the whistle is annoying

Voicemail notification sound location?

Can anyone guide me to the location of the voicemail notification sound? I'm trying to replace it. I'm running K-9 mail if that makes a difference. Thanks.

System/media/audio I think.
I placed the sound file in the notifications sub-folder at this location but I'm still getting the wrong sound (a ringtone) for voicemail. Can you suggest anywhere in settings or somewhere else?

[Q] SMS Not Vibrating On Receipt

Wierd bug here. My phone is set to always vibrate and it does so for incoming calls however for sms I get the sound but no vibration. I've noticed there is no vibrate option in the messaging settings either :| Anyone got any ideas on fixing this?

Are you using the stock messaging app? What rom and phone are you using?

Yes, stock messaging app on SGS2 (as the forum states). I'm on stock KE2 and rooted via chainfire's rooting method then reflashed stock kernel.
Have you turned on always vibrate from within the messaging app? Go to all threads in the app, press menu, then settings, scroll down to notification settings, then press the option that says "Vibration" and make sure the option for always vibrate is selected.

I would but the setting isn't even there which is what surprised me most!
EDIT: I found an app to let me enable that vibration and it works now but it should be there as an option by default!!! WTF SAMSUNG!

Download Go sms pro or other messaging apps. You can set a ring tone or message tone for individuals by going into individual settings. Open up the message of the individual and hit menu button to access the individual settings

Notification ringtone won't change?

did you set it for the specific application? maybe its a different app tone u need to change.
I found it. There is extra settings within the stock text messaging app that allows you to change the sound. My past phones just use the default notification sound. First samsung... Thanks.

Is your sound volume turned up? I have no issues changing the notification sounds with the zedge app.
