[Q] Samsung weather widget keeps restarting? - Galaxy S III Q&A, (US Carriers)

Has anyone else noticed the weather widget keeps disappearing and restarting every time you go to the home screen from some other app? Any fix for this, besides not using the weather widget?

Lol, I don't even get a weather widget option.
And yet it's installed!

Serious? You can't put a weather widget on the homescreen? Are you using touchwiz?

[Q] Should I put Widget Locker into system/apps?

I use Widget Locker. however, as with the GO Launcher widget issues when you reboot the NT, Widget Locker's widgets get a bit messed up. Would putting the app in system/apps solve the issue?
How the hell did you pur widgets on WL!!?? Every time i try if Force close, the only widget i have is the one with date and time (the default one).

This is a good question. Same issue here.

Lock Screen Replacement

I'm using widget locker with honeycomb theme and was wondering if there is a way to replace the stock lock screen with this one due to a few force closes making it revert to stock lock screen.

I used MagiLocker for a little while, but it seemed a little laggy to me.

I use WidgetLocket too with the ICS theme, and haven't had it force close once. It has worked perfectly for me so far. Maybe trying reinstalling it? Are you rooted or running mostly stock?
I'n rooted running adw ex with the snowball mod. I was wantint to replae stock lockscreen and not just have an overlay. Just seems like it would run better.

I find that with both widget locker and go launcher, that even if I have links to the apps copied to the system/app folder, my clock widget (fancy widget) loses the skin definition and needs to be reapplied.
Otherwise, things work fine.
Do you think putting a link to fancy widget in system/app would fix the clock skin issue?
Don't know if this would work but on my phone I use NoLock to disable the stock and Go Locker as a replacement. Might be worth a try.
There is a setting in the widget locker settings to disable stock lock screen. Can't remember where it is right now in the settings tho.
As far as the widgets disappearing after reboot, I have the same issue and haven't found a way to fix it yet.

If you want them not to lose configuration you have to move them from datt/app
to system/app and there you should give them full permissions. That has solved my problem with widgets in Go launcher

Weather widget

Hi, I remember on my s2 there was an accuwaether widget by default. Is it missing from the s3? I like having a widget that shows a 5 day forcast.
Thanks
Still there on S3.

I have the widget, but an unable to figure out how to make it show 5 days. It only shows the current temp and to get the full forecast, you have to click on the widget.
I want it to look like in the image attached.

probably your best bet for that is to bring over the apk from another Rom

Email widget to look like Gmail widget

Is there anyway that I can get the stock email widget to look just like the gmail widget?
Sorry I can't help. But I have wondered the same thing.

Download a Gmail icon (search on XDA for many icons) and then go to Google Play and download Desktop Visualizer and you should be able to sort it :good:
You can also change icons if you use Apex Launcher.

Keep the original weather app?

I have upgraded from a Nexus 4 to a S5.My home screen has the default weather app, which takes up half the screen almost!
Do you keep the default weather app that comes with the S5 or do you recommend something else?
Also, any recommendations on what to use for an alarm clock? I used the default alarm clock on my Nexus 4 before.
Thanks,
Jon

The original weather widget can be made transparent at 100%. I'm using the default alarm clock and I'm completely satisfied with.

Check out this thread for the mod weather: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2766014
I always debate this myself. You can make the widget transparent is settings, but I also like the background changing with the weather.
I'm currently using Nova launcher so I have no choice, but Beautiful Widgets has excellent options. I'll go back to TouchWiz launcher eventually, just feels like Nova is missing something that stock offers. Can't put a finger on it tho
