Mean ROM or Flex 360 liquidsmooth? - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

I have commitment issues... Can't decide which one I like better. Does anyone have an opinion on which its the better ROM and why?
Sent from my EVO using xda premium

As much I want to keep MeanROM as my daily, I simply can't cause the battery isnt as good as flex's rom, Its night and day. Dont get me wrong i loved what MeanROM did for the EVO 3d, but for the EVO lte, I think it needs more time to evolve.

its hard to beat flex's stock with goodies ROM. That is if you like Sense. Battery life is great and barely any glitches.

Try all of them for a few days, there is no "better" ROM.
I chose flex simply for the enhanced stock path. It's great for "me" but maybe MeanROM, Joel's, Chameleon or ___ might be your best bet.

I installed MeanROM 0.3 last night before going to bed. Today I went from full to 60% faster than I expected this morning, but since then it has gone from 60 to 30% much more slowly. I am definitely going to give it a little time to "settle in" and see how it goes. Plus, given Mikey's history, it'll be on 0.5 or 0.6 by the end of the week Which is why you can't say one is "better" than the other right now - both are still evolving pretty rapidly.
But, maybe I'll give Flex360's a try right now as a point of comparison.

I've run pretty much all of the roms available and am on mean rom since last night..it seems to be running well..I ran omjs for a while and that was nice and smooth ..imho I dont notice much difference between them but maybe that's just bc I dont know what I'm looking for? One thing I dont like is the show JavaScript console bar and do.t understand its usefulness...and it blocks out my status bar even at the top ..

Im most definitely going to keep it on the rest of the day to let it "settle in" which is a myth I don't believe in. I get great battery from flex's rom without the "settling in" period.

Then I guess u know what Rom U want to run..I flashed mean rom.and clearly watched as it settled in over a few hours and reboots..at first it was a little choppy and now its super smooth..so call it what u want..I didn't experience this on flexs rom but that's prob bc its a stock rom with no changes to the framework..btw I'm not choosing sides I really liked flexs Rom..and am very surprised that an average user has made one of most popular roms available..he must of been hiding his skills ..def impressed

Don't be surprised, Im also learning the in and outs of creating a rom and it's really rather easy when the framework is already intact. Cut and paste becomes your best friend, ask permission to use other peoples mods, bada boom bada bing you have a rom and im a freaking developer

Precisely. Anyone claiming one ROM is the "best" ROM at this point is just biased. They all are based on the exact same software--except for AOSP--and do virtually the same things and have the same tweaks. There isn't enough diversity at this point to crown one ROM "the best."

i think right now i think that pkmn rom is ahead by a little bit only because it has a leetroid like app that allows you to customise the look and feel of the app. lots of things you would normally edit something for is just a checkbox away

MeanRom .4 is baked and ready to eat: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1727167

How's the battery life on both of these ROMs?
myn's wins hands down....
although i got great battery on decks (until it totally crashed and wouldnt boot out of random and always rebooted and stuff for me)
and synergy had great performance (too far into beta though. looks and feels very unfinished and buggy)
I gotta give it to Eternity.
I've used ViperROM 1.3. Synergy from r100 to 502. Myn Warm 2.3, steelH, and SHOGUN.
I give it to Eternity without question.

any rom would do. there all pretty simple at the moment, nobody has took their rom to the next level for this device.
Many devs are still ROMing for other phones and haven't journeyed to the LTE just yet.
only time will tell. And Ive flash just about all of the roms out now.

I will agree. My daily rom is MeanROM but I've tried them all and I think they're pretty much all the same. Only thing that's separating them are tweaks, they definitely all look the same. From what I hear the VenomRom will be the one that separates itself from the rest, when it gets released.

I had ARHD 6.6.7 previously. It was a stock experience with nothing new. Also my battery was terrible on it. Yesterday I flashed ViperS 1.0.1... And I must say that it's by far the best rom I have every seen and used. It's packed with so much goodies! So much customization options that you'll never get bored. And on top of that, it's also very fast. The venom hub and tweaks app is revolutionary.
So far, the battery is also doing great.

using the AOKP right now. dont really like any of the sense options there are right now. and i like the AOSP lockscreen too much. haha. waiting for that chameleon rom guy above was talking about. hopefully we can get a good CM9 Port going.

Dude you should try this rom. they've made this rom very light and now i usually have around 175 - 220mb FREE.
just 3 bugs so far.. which i have already reported on day one.
1- Facebook Calender Sync doesn't work.
2- Gallery and Music app fails to load and search files. ( most of the time ) its a pain though :x
3- No Predictive Text in the keyboard. ( you'll have to use the ****ty SwiftKey for that.)
I've flashed Mean rom... All I noticed was 2% drops in battery every few minutes.. And it looked like the same stock ics layout

Mwakious has the biggest fanbase right now and can be considered as a good dev with a good rom, though I'm not quite happy with the battery drainage when the screen is on. Somebody else was complaining about the same issue, but again, every phone reacts differently, so maybe you won't even have that issue ukno..

Most of the roms have both cores enabled which will cause that battery issue.
IMO if you're going to go with an ICS ROM, Cool ICS is the best. No dual core nonsense, the right amount of tweaks, and just a good normal ROM.

Ugh not again.
First we need to know if you are GSM or CDMA.
And second, there is no "best" rom. All roms are created differently, for people with different wants and needs. And every rom will run differently on every phone. So just flash one, try it out for a day or two, and if you don't like it, try another.

Don't know if you were leaving it open to all, but I'll answer anyway. Rom is great, but in an effort to increase performance, the battery life isn't there for me. I think Mikey was in the process of balancing battery and performance when the lte came out. Since he is waiting until the ota to update, I'll try it again then.

I am using the mikey's meanrom v2.4 and it has been real stable. I also used the zr3 rom, but it did not have polaris office build into it, and I needed that since I get emails with documents attached. Didn't see any reason to purchase something that is in the mean rom. The zr3 rom is more customized, where meanrom appears to be more stock to me, but that is just my opinion.
I had no performance issues with either.

Individuals are unique, that's why I always recommending users try something they like for example:
Aosp: fourth bar, speedrom etc.
Sense: nrgz or arhd, etc.
It's honestly better to try various roms than for someone to say so, he may like it now cause you said so but a later he tries another and think so of that one too. Then what?
sent from a smooth place where my fingers trace across the screen to see your face and make you scream!
Project Butter/Speed Rom is by far the best ROM I've tried so far. I would love to use FourthBar but not having a signal indicator really bothers me. Once craigut fixes up some of the bugs, I'll probably be giving that a try again. Knowing how great our devs are here, I'm sure it will be soon! If you're looking at Speed Rom, you might want to wait for version 7 comes out soon, so you don't have to fix everything back up again after you just settled in.

Yes, it has the blue rings spinning boot animation..
And if you search my posts in that thread, I have posted multiple tweaks you can make to the init.post_boot.sh files that make the kernel more battery friendly.
Remember, it isn't just the rom, it is also the kernel in big ways.. use one of the latest faux kernels, tweak the files as I just mentioned.. depending how extreme the changes are you make, you could have over 2 days of mostly standby, or at least 14+ hours with some pretty heavy usage.
Just know, if you are spending all day playing some 3d game it will always kill your battery no matter what rom/kernel you use.. the same as on stock.

I was going to go to MeanBean. However, not sure about this Tranquility ROM. Is it even on XDA? Is it heavily themed or more stock? I am giving my phone to my father-in-law and want him to have a good ROM that just works and is close to stock in look.
just going to chime in here, if youre looking for a stock rom best bet is build yourself. it's easy enough to do if you follow some steps. sense isnt really stock imo
if youre looking for something nice to run theres plenty of roms out. best advice is try em all.
Another vote for Tranquility. I've run MeanBean for a while and it was good. Tranquility seems slightly smoother and the theming is excellent. Tranquility was on XDA, but they removed it. Now it's on www.themikmik.com
I did add Zepplinrox multitasking mod, which Mean bean already has in it. Makes a noticeable difference, especially with Sense reloads.
Is tranquility stock looking? On mikmik, it looks heavily themed.

If I had the skills I would try but making my own is way above my head. Plus whatever is out there would be far better than anything I could cook up

Think I'm going to give MeanBean a shot, working on backing everything up right now.
My biggest concern is battery life, I don't sit on my phone all day so I'm mostly concerned with how the phone behaves while the screen is off; though I do like a smooth experience when it's on.
I'll post back with my initial impression of MeanBean and my experience with the battery once I've had long enough to establish a norm.
-- Question from me. Anyone recommend a kernel over the stock kernel? Maybe something with better governors or fastcharge?

For your situation I would go with OMJ 2.2. It is an ICS rom but runs super smoothe, fast, and has exceptional battery life, and everything works. OMJ also has a later version 2.6 which uses Aroma so you can customize yourself.
