[Help! ROM tweaks] Developement issues - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there, I'm working on blur based ROM for atrix 4G (4.5.2A) and I'm having some troubles...
by parts:
1) settings: It's not showing kernel and baseband info, and I can't, obviously, just include att settings.apk or decompile, recompile, sign and replace files between apps, it just keep throwing FC any time I get into "about phone"
2) 1% battery steps: alredy modded framework-res/res/drawable-hdpi and services.jar, but I'm getting stats_unknown ic on notification bar, so, what shoul I edit (every files that needs to be edited) on framework/services?
3) quickpanel: keep decompiling systemui with dependences, when I finish working I compile, and replace modded files into original systemui, but still not working, notification bar is not showing at all...
So please, anyone, help me solve this... I won't have the device for much longer and I want this ROM to get cooked as soon as possible...
Thank u all guys, and... I'm sorry about my english haha, trying to improve it

Help with theming, please?

So I kind of need help. I wanted to mess around with combining features from my existing arc style framework apk from I think it was J, maybe go3asy, and from the froshedblue. I used root explorer and pasted froshed's apk over the existing one in a bout of frustration and had to reboot because everything was fcing. what I want from froshed is the black menu, the volume dialog, the 'busy' ring animation, the text box border, and the popups on the keyboard and in general(minus the icon style I.e. in the reboot dialog). The rest I want from the arc style framework, including checkboxes, buttons in call screen etc. Ill have a link to the thread soon. Can anyone please help?
EDIT: Ok I have the pngs I want from froshedblue. My problem is, I dont currently have a working computer, not to mention the theme I want stuff from(froshedblue) is made mdpi, and the included framework with Wolfbreak's CM ROM V054 is hdpi. How would I be able to make them work? Because I know its possible, (otherwise froshedblue would not be able to work, being mdpi on our hdpi x10's.) but I don't know how. Can anyone help me, or better yet can anyone teach me how to theme or tell me where to go to learn? Thanks in advance.
From my X10a running Wolfbreak's CM 6.1.3 V054

Sorry, I was a dummy. I found the thread with the how to, but I still don't have a working computer.
OK, my question now is would it break the framework if I just pasted the pngs in that I want, from froshedblue to tue v054? Is there some xml somewhere that is the reason the mdpi pngs work on the hdpi x10?

[Q] Change operating frequency

Hi all
I have a little problem here. I was using telcel jb rom but 3g didnt worked for me and now i know why.
Mexico operators doesnt work with 3g on 2100 Mhz (my operator works in this frequency), and they've disabled it somehow for mexico.
In ZAF (south africa) JB 3g works fine for me, but doesn't have my language and i can't figure out a way to "translate" it. I tried modifying the apps puting inside them in the values folder the folder for pt-BR, but the apps doesn't work after re-compiling.
I really upset with this all. Somebody could help me on this?
I ask 2 things:
- Is there anyway to change the system network's operating frequency? how can i do it?
- Is there anyway to put my language inside ZAF jb apps? they have values for pt-PT but not for pt-BR. The files for pt-BR i take from the mexico jb apps (decompile with dependencies, lg-res.apk, recompile after put the values folder from mexico in zaf apps)

I can help you about how to add languages to apk. I guess you got compile error while rebuild apk back right? That because some string format in strings.xml are incorrect. I think it apktool bug. The problem is percent (%) character. It's used to format number. If you want % character in the text, you must use %% to escape it and it give you % in output text.
You must correct all error that display in apktool output while rebuild it back. And to make it works you should edit following apk
- LGSystemSetting.apk
- LGSystemUI.apk
- LGHome3.apk
- and what ever apps that you want to add your language to.
So... It's easier to just replace that apk from Mexico rom into ZAF rom.
Thanks for replying artit. I got some errors rebuilding the apks, but I installed lg-res framework with apktool and after this, i got them to compiling.
But i pushed them to my phone and the system became messed up. The status bar didnt show up (i edited LGsystemUI.apk), home didnt show up, settings, lockscreen, nothing, just the lockscreen wallpaper. I edited them, add my language but just this.
I tried replacing the apps from mexico but the phone don't boot when i replace some apps like installservice apk
One question: Do i have to be on a deodexed ROM to edited apps work? if yes, i found my problem, cause i take the apps from my stock rom odexed

You can do following http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2230966
I didn't really read your post but if you can't access the 4g of one company because it's on another frequency then sorry you cannot change it as the chip is set to run at specific frequencies... Very sorry

You can try Lelus method, it much easier than rebuild apk ,
For odexed file, I think you need to deodex apk first. But to make new apk work you must copy
- META-INF folder
- AndroidManifest.xml
from original apk to new apk. And for LG stock rom apk, you cannot modify AndroidManifest.xml file. If you modify it, that apk will not work. You should zipalign apk after rebuilt but it not necessary.
Maybe you can use apk from Jelly Cream rom, it's deodexed and has pt-BR, I add all language from Mexico & Thailand rom to Europe V20H. But I modified some framework and some config in apk. If you're still not success with this I'll reverse all changes and rebuild that apk for you. I plan to add new language to Jelly cream rom this weekend.

I don't think so. You can flash new baseband to alter usable frequency. And you can change phone frequency for 2G/3G in hidden menu.

Thanks again artit. I tried lelus method, didnt work, so im trying decompile/recompile apks, bot not much luck
I deodexed all apks and framework and pushed to my phone after removing the .odex files
Im stucked at lgsettings.apk, i can decompile it by installing lg-res.apk into apkmultitools, but goterrorwhen trying to recompile it. If you want to i post the error log
I also tried using jellycream apps, but my only try was replacing all apps so got bootloop. I will try replacing just the necessary ones - lgsettings, systemui, lghome, camera, installservice

[Q] How to Mod application with multiple DPI

Hello, guys
I guess this post is in the right place.
let's say I am a big fan of 250DPI. I dont like 320DPI of SGS3.
When I install ROM, Revolution or any stock ROM, I change DPI in built.pro to 250.
It works!
but still some stock applications are not showing in the right size such as
- SecPhone.apk
- SamsungIME.apk
- Camera
- etc
I know it is gonna be some where to change resource and re-compile or whatever....
and those apps are already mod by some developers here.
The question is Can you guys show me which files in resource to be edited?
this is gonna help to learn new thing....
Thanks

Let me have a guess...
Android v 4.2.2
Based on Xperia v2 ROM ( from the A919 Tool app icon and the normal nav bar icons in screenshot no. 2, and also the background in screenshot no. 1 where a message is seen saying that " Actually I was bored with Xperia v2 ROM so I made this ROM. " )
Changed Framework apk and systemui apk
Added Samsung Apps like the launcher and calendar, etc.
Updated GmsCore.apk (or Google Play Services to be simple)
Did not edit and/or change the data folder
Followed any MTK porting guide
Did a quick port today ( from the date and time in the screenshots )
Better RAM management -- Tweaked minfree values would be my guess
Did not change the Flashlight app (TinnoLED.apk)
Brighter Flashlight -- Not as easy as he hoped. He would need some redirection of app processing power to the flashlight app to increase its importance, and thereby increase the flashlight brightness. I'm guessing he hasn't done that, so you'd better remove that line.
Did not change the default time zone in build.prop settings (It is set to phillipines time. )
Neat. Good attempt.
Bugs :
Transparent Status Bar
From the screenshots, it is apparent that the Status Bar isn't transparent. You mean that the background of the Notifications panel is transparent. Status Bar transparency refers to the status bar having the colour of the app's upper part. Like in the first screenshot, the status bar (the part with the battery charging info, network signal info, clock, etc.) should have the colour of the app. (like its background should have whatsapp's green colour while running whatsapp)
But, that is more of a misconception than a bug.
Here is a bug which he cannot fix.
3g support on both SIMs.
For that, you need hardware support. It is wrongly mentioned in the Xperia ROM v2 too. I have tried and tested that in almost all other ROMs like MIUI v5, Xperia ROM v2, Stock ROM, etc. and it all comes down to the same thing. YOU NEED HARDWARE SUPPORT FOR 3G IN BOTH SIMS.
A piece of advice : Do not bet that there won't be an bugs at all. Each and every ROM might have a bug that the developer might have overlooked.
Here are some things your friend might have done or should do if he hasn't done yet.
Changing the build.prop setting of ro.product.**** to that of Karbonn's from MyPhone Agua Cyclone ( Xperia ROM v2 was built on that phone's ROM )
Add Material Design Apps from Apkmirror like Gmail 5.0, Maps, etc.
Try porting Kitkat ROMs to Jelly Bean based devices by modifying the installation procedure to include the priv-app folder
Try porting CyanogenMod to this device
Help me in porting Carbon ROM and/or CyanogenMod 12 to this device.
Mention how he got the updater script to work properly and install the ROM perfectly in TWRP and Philz Recovery
Sign the ROM using ZipSigner app and then upload it.
Add more features to it
Here are a few suggestions :
Update the version of SuperSU and then install it.
Make the Xposed Framework built-in. ( Not to be installed manually after installing the ROM )
Pre-install GravityBox or XBlast tools.
Odex the apps folder for better RAM usage
Increase the wifi supplicant scan interval
Throw in some paid apps for free.
Increase the net buffer size
Add the X-Reality engine
ZipAlign all apks.
Add some more fonts ( other than Choco cookie )
Add more sounds for ringtones, audio, etc.
Mention all these to him, and if possible, ask him whether he could help me to develop other ROMs for this device.
BRO thanks for your opinions and thought

See i ported this Material L for unite 2 (a106) for our s5+ it was ported successfully and also booted up i used it for More than 3 days not found any other bug except Camera and flashlight..I changed some of its Lib files With Stock and also changed its gallery to stock and tried many other methods but still the cam bug didnt fixed..Else everything working really good.whenever i opens the cam it says unfortunately camera has stopped else everything works at its best...
Yeah, I just thought I should type out my thoughts about the ROM and then wait and see your reply. Sorry for that, though.
---------- Post added at 11:25 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:06 PM ----------
You used some MTK porting guide, didn't you ?
Another thing, what do you mean by Material L ? Do you mean to say that you have ported an Android L ROM to this phone ?
I think you have just ported some ROM with just the Material Design UI, as seen in the screenshots (They do not have the Android L Navigation Bar Buttons. )
You could try replacing the permissions in that, as most likely, that would be the root cause of many such errors. A permission file related to the camera settings could be improperly coded, and/or might have a bad file, either corrupt or something like that.
I just needed this tiny favour from you of creating a proper, working update-binary and updater-script inside a META-INF folder which can be used for all my ROMs. If that is over, you'll be seeing those ROMs on XDA quite soon.
Another thing. In the CyanogenMod 12 Lollipop ROM which I am porting, the apps folder has individual folders for each app. So, the flashlight app is in system/app/flashlight/flashlight.apk . Could that be the cause of the ROM not installing properly ? I'm going mad over that as that was the first time I have seen any ROM with apps grouped like that.
Thanks in advance for your contribution.
tnx for posting.. try to port this rom..we r same spec of ur device..

The ROM is great!!!.Have not found the bug till now.No at least in the last 24 hrs.Really a very good effort.I in fact don't really like touchwiz, but this COOL!!!.I guess Samsung has improved touch wiz, because the old one sucked!!
Thanks anyways.Hope to expect more ROMs from you in the future!!!

[Q] Theming help

Hello,
I have a little problem. Im trying to edit and rebuild cm10 for my Lg L7 because the development has stopped. I succesfully finished with custom kernel, build.prop, idit.d tweaks... Also tested and working.
But that i can't make working is theming the rom with some Andoid L Stylez....
I have Apktool and i know to decompile. Im running ubuntu.
My device is hdpi so what should i edit in framework-res or systemui ? I want completly changed look like App icons, battery icons andoid L Style, keyboard if possible...
Can you point me how to change the style and app icons ?
And also the default wallpaper i already did it but it doesnt work...
