I got one from Woot for $179. I think it's a great design personally. I know it's been trashed but I don't think enough people appreciate it's concept.
The split screen is not that big of a deal for web browsing. Netflix is just fine on the top screen. Having the dedicated screen for the keyboard is great.
The single best thing is the second screen for thumb swiping when browsing/reading. Instead of having to swipe at an angle, you can swipe horizontally. This might not sound like much but in heavy use it makes a big difference.
Right now, I prefer it over my HP Touchpad (CM10), Kindle Fire, and HTC Evo 4G.
Thanks,
Todd Thompson

iam surprised to see a post here ... anyway.. there is no way to hack nd enable calling function in tablet P.. i bought this tab P so cheaply on a online site abt 3 months ago.. nd i like this device nd it suits my usage but the rest of the world rejected long before.. there is not even a dedicated development forum for this device.. no support from sony.. no one knows this device nd no one minds this device.. this is a piece of a rare earth element!!!
so with no support its very risky to do hacking or do somthn as if anythn goes wrong, there is no sony stock repair service, no sony pc companion support nd no devs to help .. there is just tablet S tool to root this device nd may b with tablet S tools may b posible to flash stock or custom roms.. but still i didnt try any of it..want root function.. ! there is no proven result using tablet S tools for tab P. so very risky to do anythn.
there is a tablet P forum at pocketables website.. there too only method to root nd nothn else..
feel free to share anythn related to this device..if any help needed just post here..iam trying to port timescape nd xperia tablet Z launcher nd functions.. ya needed root function.nd i guess i may do it soon.

Search some of my previous posts and other's.
No voice calling but you can try VOIP, the modem card didn't have this function. No having can help.
I did so I could with mine, an AT&T 3G model. I almost got stuck with bricking but survive. Info is sparse on this model on hacking but most things on A model apply.
I updated it to 4.0, root it (said to be impossible from stock but I did,I won't recommend this route,I had only succeeded after many tries), swap out the modem card to an unlocked one, as cannot be unlocked. Lots of work but better.
It is the only tablet that is truly portable and pocketable. But viewing video on full screen is hard to get used to, and viewing in half screen makes it smaller size than my note 2! Ironic. Deep black and nice color on the screen, what a pity.
I also bought it during woot sale, the leather case I chose as part the deal is nice but I usually don't carry it.

Unfortunately there's no such thing as perfect fone. All of them have bugs, faults and other annoying stuff, so you'll just have to go with a model that you actually need.
O1 is a good phone and doesn't have any major problems.
What I mean is that whether the phone gets spoiled quickly, And I know it's has no camera flash but no adobe flash .....Anyway that's for all help!!!
The lifetime of phone will be pretty good same like the z71 varients.

It´s really a great Android Phone in the mid-class. And with croms you can get a really good phone placed even in the segment of Desire in performance. However, it doesn´t have adobe and camera flash.
I think Qualcomm and Adobe have announced that Flash will be optimized for the MSM7x27, the processor included in our Optimus One, so maybe it will have Flash soon
Yep, it is a great budged phone with pro features.... also there are workarounds for adobe and camera flash....
1) for adobe flash: adobe said that it is working in a optimized version of flash for msm7227 chip (armv6 cpu) that our phone has.. but if you want flash desperately right now you have two browser that can handle it: Skyfire and Puffin (it uses cloud computing to view flash websites)
2) The camera flash: there are plenty pocket flash lights and if you search well you can find a flash light that has better leds than many phones, also there is a accesory that is called Universal camera Phlash
It doesn't have camera flash, but you can easily take pictures for cheating on exams . And someone else said it very well, there are good if not great developers , who have this kind of phone.
Thanks every one for the great advice and one last question....since i like to experiment my phones with a lot of apps and roms.....does this phone have many roms for me to try out with....and don't worry about that thanks

What about the dust getting under the screen problem? Has it been fixed by LG?
Do they just clean it and give you every time or is there any permanent fix for the problem?
you are asking owners of p500 so we will say it's worth And I agree with them
About the dust - cleaning is for free if you have warranty (definetly in EU), but i haven't heard if LG did anything with this issue in newest series
(sorry for my english)
So you mean to say that the problem still exists in the latest phones too?
Also you said that they will clean it. I want to know whether that problem gets fixed after visiting the service center once or should it be taken to the service center time and again to clean it?

Someone said they put somekind of cover underneath the screen at the service center, so the dust doesn't build up anymore. But I don't know for sure. It was posted in the thread about the dust.

Guys opened seal and does it already installed an screen protector ?
or should i buy a screen protector and install it ?
Many backgrounds applications are running hw to kill them ?
1st of all the bad things about the phone
if you can have patience to charge your device twice a day than XP is for you
i have this phone for about 20 days now and i,m quite disappointed with the battery life.
it really sucks and i,m mean really really sucks big time. 1350 mah only
i had an update couple a days ago i installed the update and stared facing bug like immense battery drain
camera problem in the dark.. and there,s no improvement in update as far i have observed
don,t bother to update
now the good things
i love the face that this device has awesome screen resolution
nice colours and viewing angles
screen clarity awesome
camera result awesome
performance awesome.
sound awesome
sound on earphones awesome
call quality no problem at all
surfing the web no problem
overall experience good.
yes u can install custom roms in it
after rooting and installing the clockwork recovery.. u might also have to unlock the bootloader,
see the relevant thread.
but i cant see files which i have tranferred through pc or bluetooth
almost wasted 2 hours for searching a file which i have copied from ma pc to phone but i cant find the location of the files which i have transferred to mobile from friend's bluetooth and my computer

Is it worth the change? XMP to LWW

Hello i have XMP. I got a cheaper proposal to buy a LWW and i think to buy it becouse i don't feel the mini pro stable in my hand with that keyboard. I need opinions from some lww users. Is the display good?
edit: And also the phone is locked to a network provider. Is there any free way to unlock, if no what are the paid ways?

Keep the XMP, LWW has a horrible screen, and the phone is very slow. Currently there is no free unlock method, but you can try the paid ones.

Lol. Both xmp and lww got the exact same hardware, how could u said its 'slower' than xmp? That doesn't make sense.
Don't know about screen because never actually compared mine to other phone, but I guess its just OK.
But one thing for sure, no other phone can beat lww sound quality, with its dual stereo speaker its just awesome. Even the big boys nexus got crap slower sound.
I am using wt19i I am recommand you to change to wt19i this model have 2. Strong speakers. And its comfortable to hold the phone in the hand one thing missing. Its the battery. For more information please send a private message good luck
I also recommend LWW. I've had it for a year now and I can't complain about anything in this smartphone. I installed CM9 on it and it was
surprisingly fast, now testing CM10.

Simlock. If i cant unlock the bootloader i wont buy it.
I am reading alot of reviews. Everything seems to be good. Display, sound and on.. Does the bravia engine missing from the phone effects?
I think of buying a white for its better made of materials

It depends on from where you buy the phone. When my mother bought LWW, it was not simlocked and could be unlocked. It dosen't have bravia engine, but you can easily flash a rom to get that feature and no it does not effect the quality much. The phone has got one of the best sound quality.
The colour choice depends on you, but white can easily get dirty.
Ooh yeah. I will buy black. Well thanks for the advices guys. If someone have any other opinion please write
I'm an XMP user and I can say that I wouldn't trade it for anything with the screen of similar size. I mean, it is quite comfortable to type with an on-screen keyboard when you're using Xperia keyboard in phonepad mode OR if you install Swiftkey, but sometimes I turn the rage mode on because of those tiny buttons. and then the hw keyboard saves the day. but if you think of it as a bloody nuisance and you don't use it AT ALL, then fair enough, go for it

[Q] So I just ordered a xperia tablet s...

Hello !
I just ordered the 16gb version (no 3g) for about $320 (a lot more expensive here usually). It's one which apparantly was sent back and got a general maintenance. Got it from the German Sony outlet online store. Obviously the first thing Ill do will be checking for errors and sending it back if its not alright.
I will be travelling to asia for about a year as of august and thought it was pretty fitting so I just ordered before they're all gone...
Now I'm wondering a few things!
Will I be able to connect via 3g with an internet dongle like the huawei E137 ?
Can I connect my 2.5" external hdd without additional power? I read almost everywhere that it doesn't work on all the tablets, but I also think I read that the sony usb port is more powerful and can stream over hdmi without additional power. I know that ill need an OTG usb host cable. It's a Samsung s1 mini with 120gb.
The bigger question is however which updates I should install. I read a few threads on here (very confusing with all the sony tablets being in one place...) and couldn't really come to a conclusion.
I don't really play games, except Id maybe like to play some N64 stuff on an emulator. I mainly want to use it to browse the internet, do hostel bookings etc. and watch movies.
Im sorry if these have been asked before, I couldnt find an answer :/
No you can't connect to 3g. Not sure about HDD.

The tablet does not have the drivers to run the dongle. The STS has this issue too. Since the XTZ is made by the Sony Mobile team, and not the Sony Vaio team, it most likely will support dongles... IMO it would be worth paying extra for the XTZ because of the much higher standards the mobile team has, its unlockable bootloader, high res screen, etc.
Hmm alright, too bad...
Could it be possible someday? With it being able to root now?
I really don't wanna spend another 250€, I can live a month in India with that money :/
I had a look a the tablet in an electronics market here and I think the display is more than enough for me.
Guess I'll have to live with tethering then.
I'll see if a 3G dongle works with the Xperia Tablet Z.

Instead of a dongle, use a wireless mobile hotspot device. Most are small enough to fit in your pocket, better than having a dongle hanging off your tablet, and there is no hassle with loading device drivers. I don't know what is available in India or Asia, but I'm in the USA and I use a Sierra Wireless Overdrive Pro™ 3G/4G Mobile Hotspot through Virgin Mobile.
XTS root, then you can also use a 3G dongle Since there's a free app in the Market "UMTS MANAGER" Try yourself and also works on 4.1.1 with root.
Unfortunately, USB hard drives consume a lot of electricity - are alternative USB sticks it should be paid to the format ... NTFS is otherwise only with root with the help of the free app "Paragon NTFS & HFS" so you can then mount ...
That sounds like some good news!
I'm still not quite sure whether I should send it back or keep it (hasn't arrived yet but is in transit...would the galaxy tab 10.1" be a better choice? its about the same price here).
Is rooting it risky? Is there any danger to it? Will it be possible with every device or could there be regional differences (mine will be german I guess)?
If I'll be able to root it, that means I can use all the apps there are basically? What about alternate ROMs, will that be possible?
Sorry for all the questions, I'm kind of new to the whole topic, though I did root a smartphone I had
Come to think about it, I could use that as a mobile hotspot maybe... Though I'd have the same problems with being dependent on a second battery :/
I think if I'll be able to root it and it'd be able to use all those customized apps that make software things possible that sony tries to forbid or hasnt enabled at least the XTS would be a good choice for me since it's so cheap.

Rooting isn't risky - it's what you do with the root which is.
When you root a phone, you place a su binary file in the /system partition.
If your a new to this, you WILL brick your device. Don't mess with system files before asking here first :fingers-crossed:

If you read here first before firing off crazy commands its prob safe to root, having said that after you do the risk of bricking is high bcuz no custom recovery and boot loader is locked so you cannot just flash a Rom to fix it. If you are not in love with Sony for whatever reason, and depending on what you plan to do with the tablet, I would either save $100 and get a nexus 7 or spend extra $100 and get nexus 10.

Xperia Sola Freeze!

Hi !
Need some help and some guidance from the members regarding a serious issue with my Xperia Sola
The main issue with my Xperia Sola is that the screen freezes 2 or 3 times a day on various situations like when i am browsing on the internet or just browsing thru menus and or even when i write a text message. A random freeze i can call it! The screen freezes and looks like when you're watching a 3D movie without glasses. it's a bit..i don't know the exact term to decribe it but looks exactly like i said. So, after that it becomes unresponsive and the only thing i can do is to restart the phone using up volume button + start button at the same time! Then, it's coming back to life and...i am waiting for the next **bleep** freeze again!
The phone is upgraded to the latest version of android 4.0 with the Latest available software: 6.1.1.B.1.54. I allready performed an repair thru the pc companion on my pc and also tried SUS but the problem is still there.
I don't know wether is a hardware issue or a software issue!
Any ideeas?
Thank you!

This is Sony issue. They made this phone so buggy in both hardware and software that they just abandoned it (and whole novathor line excluding xperia go) after 9 months after premiere. I've tried multiple ROM's and tweaks, and still Sola is the worst android device I've ever used. Best thing you can do is just buy a phone which is not manufactured by Sony. Sorr dude.
