[Q] "Frick"my phone - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

Sorry for disturb you all with my problem if you listen before. Last night I intented to reinstall the AOKP V40 in my phone and while was running the restore from Titaniun, I had the crazy idea to stop the process. The phone go to black screen with soft and down continous flashes and have not access to any option like Recovery or Download to make something to reflash or make working the damm phone.
Any suggestions__ thanks a lot for your helps

Did you try the 3 button method?

This makes absolutely no sense. How do you reinstall the AOKP V40 from Titanium?

I just took that as he flashed it he attempted to stop the titanium restore, doesn't make any more sense though. This guy needs to learn English better

Hey Dude, sorry for my explanation. I reinstalled trought CWM. When I intented to restore my apps, make the mistake to interrup the process. The phone gone to Black screen. That my point. At this time I partially solve the problem. I unroot the phone, Root again and install CWM 5.0.2.3 but has not activate the options to reinstall Kernel, Rom o whatever. Everytime I intent to applly the options, the screen go to a figuro of CW and nothing more.

Thanks friend. I just make this. Please read my recent coment to know my situation.

OK. That makes more sense. But I'm not sure if you need help? The only thing I can think Titanium would cause the phone to go to a black screen is if you were restoring system apps, which you should never do. Only install "missing apps and data" with Titanium Backup.

There's your problem you're using an ancient version of cwm and you have to use the home button and not the power button to select, smh read this has been answered many times

Ok, so have you tried starting from square one? Use Odin to return to stock and then make your way to whatever you want to do from there. And just a word to the wise, if you ever stop titanium while its restoring an app, you can just kill the app and nothing will be worse for wear

Nick has answered his question. Please stop telling the Guy to flash completely back to stock or use Odin for this or that, if u don't know the answer, its best not to say anything sometimes. That way we don't screw someone up even more.

Thanks soo much you all guys for the help. Sorry for my english when I intent to explain my problem. Certainly, it´s not my first problem with the phone. Last time I bricked the phone and take the action to unroot and install the stock kernel. Later Rooted and feel the same that actually do. Later, touching the buttons activated the CWM and solve the problem, but not remember which one of the is..
I will test again with your recomendations. Thanks again for your help.

Finnaly and after insist to open the phone under Download Mode, it was open and install the recent CWMR and reboot. Restart normally . For precaution, wipes, and reflash the ROM and Google apps. I will reinstall my apps manually (Sure)
Thanks again to you all for your help.

Lock screen issues.

So I just installed bamf forever 1.0.4 and the new lock screens that have the 4 shortcut icons at the bottom aren't appearing. So basically the lock screen just has the time and nothing else.. sorry if this isn't specific enough. Thanks for any help in advance!

Ya I tried that it still didn't change anything. It used to work, I'm not sure what I could have done to mess it up
Sent from my ADR6400L using xda premium
Hmm... By "mess it up" I will assume that means you didn't mod your rom or do any 'experimenting' either. If so, I got nuthin. Other than post this on the thread for your custom rom dev and see if they can help you there. Other than that, I'd say revert to your last back up you made of your phone.
However, if you DO come up with a solution, post it here. I'd like to know! Good luck!

If you use Titanium Backup you should be able to save all apps to reload after your wipe. Haven't used it yet myself, but I have seen many posts on this site saying to use this app for just that purpose...

[BROKEN] [Stock ICS W/ TouchWiz Deodexed] - Working HW Buttons and Calling.

*EDIT So many are having the FC issues, I am pulling it for now.
Sorry I guess 3 phones tested was not enough.
Will try to work out the kinks and get it back up soon.
I didn't do anything here except include Fennys new Phone APK and Qwerty KB fix. All the Kernel work is Fenny.
Thanks to Vlara and Howtomen for Putting the rom together with Fennys new Kernel which inclues the HW button fix.
Thanks also to Vlara for Deodexing.
The screen wake issue has yet to be resolved.
Other than that everything seems to be working fine.
All of Samsungs Bloatware is still there, including TouchWiz.
To adjust the Keyboard to the QWERTY android version from the QWERTZ Samsung Version, goto Language and Input, select Default, then English (US) Android Keyboard.
There is an issue with the kernel right now where you have to manually hash your restores, or they will not work.
Thanks again to FennyFatal, Vlara, and Howtomen!

Unable to use this ROM, set up fc's on Phone and Messaging constantly making set up impossible.
Skipping set up and going straight to the phone didnt help either. Any action (open an app, settings etc) is receive with "Phone has stopped responding" or "TWLauncher has stopped responding".
Can not hold a cell or wifi signal.
Flashed twice, same results each time.
Can we get a new phone.apk?
I can't get pass the "Galaxy SII" boot screen... :-(
How do you extract the kernel? I think its just the flash image and z image right?

Problem with tbp and restoring apps

I made a backup of my apps on viperrom before switching to an ics rom and when I try to restore these apps it says that it was successfully completed but the apps aren't being restored.
I have tried three times only to get the same result each time. I've cleared the data twice for tbp and tried but that still didn't work. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!

Hmmm.... I haven't had any problems restoring apps yet. Are you trying to restore app data as well? Try to just do one at a time and see if that works. But only restore the app, no data. And did you do a full wipe before installing ICS?

Have you check the troubleshooting guide on their website?
We're comin from a pure power source.
Try this if you haven't already. Clear the data on the app. Then open it when it opens if it gives you a warning saying before you make a backup blah, blah, do as it ask and let it download that ver of busy box. Then try to restore your apps to see if will.

Hit the menu button and it should be a problems button or something that will allow you to download a different ver of busybox. Look for that and let it install then try to restore your apps, hopefully it works

When removing some apps, they leave behind files in your phone so it doesnt completely gets removed. I think the go locker left some files in your phone to cause this. Try going into your my files folder, and delete any go launcher and go locker folders. It might just work.

It may be a corrupt efs. I had the same problem but mine happen because of a bad radio flash. This fixed it for me. (I used fix.zip )

I am not dev so they may be able to explain more then I.
Keystr is a android base file that in simple terms tells the phone to display the lockscreen or not and how to display it, (password, pattern) for the most part. It’s a simple file that can become corrupt or missing.
I first ran into the problem with a bad radio flash, but I have heard of it becoming corrupt just uninstalling a app. That leads me to believe it’s a issue with OS and not the app that it making the file become corrupt (missing)
Since you are not rooted there is no way for you to diagnose this correctly. About the most you could do is enter into the stock recovery on your un-rooted phone and do a factory reset. BUT in all honest I don't believe this will touch your EFS/IMEI directory. If this is indeed the problem your left with warranting your phone or rooting it to fix this problem yourself. If you’re going to root it to diagnose this problem and fix it, be glad to help you with that..
In short there is not a lot more we can do to help fix this problem without being rooted..
The launcher is not that invasive and can not touch your root folders (because your not rooted) how ever the underline android OS can, and OS files can become corrupt.

Thinking about rooting but I only have a mac, is Heimdall an option? If so, how?

You are welcome..
As far as Heimdall goes the following link is about all i could find for directions..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17828262&postcount=3
I am not even sure if it can do a full root or not. or if it will actually work on the I171.. Sounds like it may, but that is a risk you would need to decide if you want to take.
I just need to say this.. I personally would not attempt to root my $600 phone with unknown like Heimdall. Maybe someone else here has used it to root there phone and can help on this..
Heimdall sounds like it can flash the kernel alone so doing a (what i call) soft root may work.. (kernel root)
This should explain the two ways to root your phone. Refer to "b. Flash counter intact"

As far as your mac. I know odin will work inside of a windows emulator on a mac..

[Q] No sound after root...

I haven't seen this issue discussed yet...
I rooted my S4 it kept it stock. Using Titanium Backup I uninstalled Verizon Tones, Verizon Navigator, Viewdini, and Audible apps. After that, all audio (ringtones, notifications, media, keyboard sounds, etc) will randomly cut out and the only way to restore it is a restart (soft or otherwise). I reinstalled the apps with Titanium Backup from the backed up files, updated the files, and it didn't restore function.
Has anyone else seen this issue? It's driving me crazy when I try to stream music and it cuts out.
It's probably because when u replaced the files. It may not have been too the right folder/section. If u want me to check where they go I can
