If you have a GS3, would you mind checking this for me please? - Galaxy S III Q&A, (US Carriers)

On previous Samsung models I was not able to enter my corp server address because we use an IP followed by a port number. Like 123.123.123.123:1234.
When I enter my info the box that says continue is grayed out. Im hoping that Samsung has corrected this.
would somebody please try and set up a corp email account. You can use any email address you want, Im just trying to see if the email client will even let you proceed when you enter the server info as I noted above.
Thanks in advance.

large company with an extremely stubborn IT department. The server address is accepted on HTC, Apple and Moto phones. On Samsung phones from the past, I had to use a third party client, like Enhanced Email.

Is there a better email client for WM6?

What I'm looking for are:
- Ability to have more than 5 email accounts.
- Ability to create mailing list, or a group of email accounts.
- Still have push mail capability, still able to display mail correctly.
Alternatively, is there an add-on to the standard outlook email application that would give us the mailing list capability?
I tried searching the net, but have not come across anything yet. Does anyone know of a solution?
Thanks and cheers.

As I understand it FlexMail uses a different method of pushing (IMAP IDLE rather than Direct Push).

Thanks Ninja1 for your info.
Have you tried it? Can you share your experience with us on FlexMail 2007?
If it has the feature that I look for, the method of pushing does not matter to me I guess.
I'm now playing with the trail version. Will report how well it satisfies my requirement of mailing list, and push mail.... Thanks again Ninja1
Edit:
I don't see the mailing list feature any where within flexmail. Or may be it is a well hidden feature. How do I create a mailing list containing a group of email accounts, so that I need not compile this each time I need to send mail to a group of people?

It's a lovely application, but it does not seem to have the ability to create mailing list. Or have I overlooked something?
Weird Software
If you have multiple mail ids associated to a contact, Flexmail 2007 doesn't allow you to select the mail id, it always select the primary id.

The other way to do this is via server... I guess Flexmail did that to prevent people from spamming using their phone...
I'd like a clone of the Iphone's email client. I hate to harp on about it but this is Apple's FIRST attempt and it's pretty much the mutt's nuts.
Microsoft's attempt at HTML email in comparison is ugly, unfriendly and clunky...I mean what's all that 'scroll right' bollocks about??? Just show us the f**king page in a smooth, user-friendly way, allow us to add multiple accounts and switch them on and off as and when required and we will all be happy no doubt.
I've come back to a Windows Mobile device from an iPhone (perhaps because I'm sadistic) and I'm really lamenting the lack of features which I iitially deemed 'showy' on the iPhone when I first saw Steve Jobs showing it off.
I expect that Apple have poached all of Microsoft's best programmers, or else Microsoft have been dedicating 0.0002 percent of their focus to the Windows Mobile O.S.
Sorry for drifting a little off-topic. I will persevere with my Windows Mobile device in the interim and will also be on the hunt for a genuinely enjoyable and multi-functional Email replacement for Windows Mobile - or praying that they see fit to update the built-in one and stem the tide of XDA regulars pouring to Steve Jobs' door.
Let's face it - we've got more options than ever before - Microsoft now have a lot of competition and surely cant afford to keep making applications with the drab look of a chinese Cect iPhone clone's menu system, and relying on HTC to pick up the pieces.
Soon HTC and their incredibly talented programming team will bugger off to Android and we will start to see PROPER email clients, FULL ports of Openoffice, Thunderbird, Google Chrome/Firefox and Pidgin for example - on an open-source network.
I just hope that Microsoft get their act together before my upgrade arrives in february or else this time I'm gone for good.
I sure agree with Leoni
I just checked my wife's iPhone and I must say the email client is just too good , sent a couple of my HTML emails and I must say it was just the way as they appear in normal outlook.
I am having a Touch HD 800x480 screen and I get to see crappy links while my wife with a
iphone 480x30 screen sees just super HTML emails with all the proper formatting and pictures.
Come on MS , give us a proper email client , after all these years we are in 09 for pet's sake.
since we are off topic, might as well continue.
I have a BB 9000 for email and I still think BB is the most bullet proof email.
Recently I went to a Nokia E71 and the email client reminds me of the MS one, although it seems to rend emails better.
Ultimately as I have a yahoo email account, i don't really need internal email clients and yahoo2go version 3 is just excellent. It is available for symbian, BB and WM. unfortunately the yahoo2go client looks [email protected] on the Athena VGA display - hopefully it will be updated for VGA WM soon.
Also, have you tried profimail ? I hear it is good. its not technically push, but set up with IMAP you won't notice the difference. There is a trial version

E-mail Redirector

One thing that I didn't like about Sprint is that it didn't offer a desktop redirector software for e-mail. In my case, my company uses MS Exchange, but doesn't have OWA setup for my phone to be able to sync. Alltel and ATT I know for sure have desktop redirector software, not sure what ATT calls it but Alltel calls it "Office Sync". It basically just redirects your Exchange features (email, calander, tasks, ect) to your phone.
I have no idea how long Seven has had their beta program open, but I recently found it and it works great. So if anyone else was in my boat, have fun with this. Here is the link.

I was in the same boat as you, I came from Verizon Wireless where I was using their Wireless Sync program on my desktop since my company does not allow me to go directly to our Exchange servers. I thought when I went over to Sprint they would have a comparable application - I didn't do my homework very well. I was not so worried about losing wireless sync for calendar, tasks, and notes, ActiveSync when I get the chance is fine. Email was another thing. My solution, which was not so elagant, was to setup a server based rule to redirect all email out to my personal pop3 email account which I setup especially for this purpose using the same name as work, just a different @ address. This insures that my email responses contain a from address as close as possible to my work address.
That having been said, you are the first person who has proposed anything similar to VZ Wireless Sync. I am anxious to try this out but am sceptical about using beta software. I will investigate the company you provided with caution. Any additional insights would greatly be appreciated. Thanks again for a least giving hope....
Try mail2web.com.
Just forward your mail there.
They are a free exchange service.

Work Email Account on Sprint Touch Pro

Hey, I was wondering if anyone knows how to make the sprint touch pro compatible to a work account? I contacted the people that handle the work email accounts and they said my phone isn't a supported device but the blackberry is so I thought there might be a way to make it so I can get my work email. Also, how do I go about removing my hotmail account from my email, I have tried but not had luck. If this is easy, I apologize in advance but I am new to all of this.
Have you tried Blackberry Connect?
I have and I absolutely can not get it to work on Sprint.
Anyone been able to get Blackberry Connect software to work on a Sprint TP?
I have tried everything available at http://www.sems.org/entry.asp?ENTRY_ID=276 and several versions that are not there as well. Someone has go to be able to solve this issue...

By work e-mail are you referring to an Exchange Server? If so, all you have to do is set up the e-mail account via Active Sync (on your device, not the PC). You will need certain information such as Username, Password, Domain (Name of the server), and server address (ie webmail.yourcompany.com).
I have never tried BB Connect, but it can't hurt to try it out.
Good luck!

Some companies, like mine unfortunately, fall for the Blackberry Enterprise Server propaganda and opt to manually disable the OTA Exchange Server connection and instead force all mobile devices to connect through BES... The big problem is that Blackberry devices suck, as recognized by Blackberry, for which they created Blackberry Connect Software so that your WinMo phone can connect to BES. My problem is that Sprint will not allow me to add Blackberry Service to my WinMo phone... So I am trying to find out if anyone knows a way around this? I am sure there are some Sprint pros here.

Just ask your IT department to set you up for pop3 or IMAP.
A company that disables OTA Exchange server access and forces Blackberry would never go for IMAP or POP....

Not true, I know firsthand... Besides, it wouldn't hurt to ask them.
Can you access your Exchange server via the web? If you can access owa.<yourcompanyname>.com to get your email via a browser then you can setup Active Sync on your device.
I am using my Sprint Touch Pro to get my Exchange mail/appts/tasks. Our official policy is that only BB are supported but it doesn't necessary mean that you can't use it. What I had to do was install a couple of certs to allow syncronization but you may not need to - depending on what CA your company is using.

PM me your owa.<yourcompany>.com address (if you are not comfortable with posting it here) and I will take a look at the certs information that your company is using and walk you through it. If you can access owa site, you should be able to sync with no issues.
System SEVEN
I had the same issue, unable to connect my Sprint Touch Pro to my company Exchange server. The IT department wouldn't budge on granting me access.
I now use System SEVEN 'Out of Office' since January and haven't looked back; It works perfectly for me and syncs everything. Check it out at www.seven.com.
what do i need to do to set up my work email on my touch pro... and where do i get the correct certs from?.
bump... i still need help w/ this! anyone please?
Can you tell me what error are you getting when you set up your exchange sync?
Edit: If your error with missing certificates, then by looking at your owa site I can tell that you need to have these public certificates installed: click here to download
Download the file above, unzip it and you will see three verisign certs. Copy them onto your phone and click on each to install them. Try to sync to your server and let me know what happens.

Microsoft Exchange...

Here I am asking this same old question again on yet another Android phone. Maybe I should just take a hint and get a phone with real exchange support yeah?
I have a Droid RAZR MAXX , about 30 minutes old.
Anyhow, apparently NO ONE uses exchange or I'm the ONLY ONE with this issue.
Press Settings
Press Accounts
Press Add Account
Press Corporate Sync
...
.....
What the **** am I supposed to do with just "Email" and "Password?"
Where am I supposed to enter my domain, my server, and the other options that go along with exchange?
Who approved this? This is even less usefull than just activesync, it doesn't work at all.
Anyone use exchange or understand where the mystery settings are?
**UPDATE** I THINK, I just lost about 80 IQ points when I found this. This could possibly be the saddest fail in exchange history..
https://motorola-enterprise.custhel...roid-razr-maxx-corporate-sync-email-settings?
Don't feel bad. I just returned a Galaxy Nexus because I was unable to get my Exchange account working. I figured out how to get all the info into the corporate sync settings and got excited when it said it worked. Alas, it refused to actually get any mail or sync any folders.
So I downloaded Touchdown. I was unable to even get that working with my Nexus. With the Maxx I still wasn't able to get it working with Activesync, but at least I can get it working with polling. I hate the idea of paying an extra $20 for Touchdown, but in the end I think it's probably worth it.
Wow. I knew the workaround, but had no idea they'd actually make that official. That's hilariously unprofessional. All the same, points to them for putting it up there when they knew people were having problems..

What is the section "Server settings" in Account settings for then? I am using the Exchange server on my RAZR from the first day I bought it. The corporate mail is excellent a reliable.
I set up the name of the server and login including domain name and password. The last option is proxy. That is all you need.
Wow... wish I'd known this before purchasing Enhanced Email. It's a nice program, but the only reason I needed it was because the stock mail program wouldn't let me set up my exchange email after the first OTA update from VZW.
Live and learn.
For some reason on the Maxx when you go into Corporate Account/Sync, there only 2 options
Email Address
Password
No other options are available. Menu button does nothing. Period. It wasn't until I stumbled upon the dumbest feature ever that I knew to use any current account that I have access to (NON EXCHANGE ONLY , i.e. YAHOO, HOTMAIL, GMAIL,) in order to get those options (Domain, server, etc, ) to appear so I could edit it.
Ludacris..
Some accounts work straight off the bat, others won't. Assume it's exchange version and server implementation to blame. The problem does exist, as evident by the Moto knowledgebase link in the OP, so he posts claiming people who can't set exchange up are missing something are, well, missing something themselves.

On what planet does it make any sense to to input a yahoo.com email address and password to trigger server setup, domain etc, for an exchange server? Just to make those options visible?
I could never, even on accident could do a worse job in designing this software. And I'm an idiot.
Corporate Email Autodiscover
I would suspect that the reason you're only prompted for the email address and password is that newer versions of Exchange can work with autodiscover, if properly configured. That's why when you set up an account in Outlook 2010, it asks for your email address and password to begin with. It goes out and looks for the information from DNS for your domain, and automatically gets the mail server information.
My RAZR works fine??? what's your deal
Hey i just opened a Droid RAZR MAXX and turned it on and set up my gmail account then set up my exchange 2007 account.
Here's how( maybe your doing it wrong):
- First Unlock the device's screen.
- Press home key as many times as you want, but more than 0.
- Press the settings button. Looks like 3 little lines on top of each other. It is just to the left of the little house button.
- Select Settings by touching the gear icon. - bottom left.
- Scroll down to accounts and press it. (accounts that is)
- At the very bottom touch the words "Add account"
- Now touch the little blue stamp icon that has the words Corporate Sync under it
- Enter your microsoft exchange account email address in the box that is for Email address:
- Enter your password in the box that is for Password.
- Click next on the bottom right of the screen.
Now your droid will try to connect to your companies exchange server.
If it cant it will allow you to put in server and domain information.
You have to be patient, it could be 30 whole seconds or so before it prompts you.
- Enter your companies domain name in the domain box.
- Enter your microsoft user account information in the name and password boxes.
- Enter the name of your mail server w/ the domain name at the end ie. mail.yourDomain.com
- click Next.
If you have your information correct it will work. Else check w/ your admins. If you are your admin... try again.
Ya i have been using exchange for several years with moto android phones with no connection issues. My Razr has worked fine, like stated in post im running exchange 2003 which does not offer auto config for phones, you might be running a newer version of exchange which does have auto config setup but not setup right? If your running exchange 2007 or up make sure the auto config settings on server are right because if there wrong it will fill in the wrong info and not let you enter your own server info.
Sorry to dig up this old thread, but everyone seems to be so hard core about searching for solutions before posting new threads. So I guess, better to dig up an old one.
I am having a variant of this problem. I am setting up Office365 for my company as a replacement for onsite Exchange2007. I set up a new domain just to have something to play with in test/dev. The domain I'm using is set up for the Autodiscover that a few people alluded to above, just requires a few new DNS records. It worked perfect on my Xperia Play with Android 2.3.3 that I had prior to the Razr. I just put my email and password in and boom it configured. Not so with the Razr, I don't know if this due to the Razr not using the stock Android email application or just the difference between 2.3.3. and 2.3.6.
I found this thread on the Office365 support site:
http://community.office365.com/en-us/f/160/p/25689/118705.aspx
While *I* can make that work, being an admin and all, I think it's probably way too confusing for our end users. I can imagine a greatly increased support volume should we have to go down that path with IMAP servers. Or using the Motorola method in the link closer to the top the thread, which would probably work fine for connection to the onsite Exchange server, but is more dicey on Office365 since there is no "server name" per se.
I can't imagine that this issue is going to go away. A lot of companies are moving to cloud email and Office365 is a popular choice.
---------- Post added at 04:51 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:02 PM ----------
OK, I was able to get it working.
First, I logged into my Office365 account with a web browser, going to my inbox and then in the upper right hand corner hitting the question mark and then from the drop down menu choosing About. This is described in the link I put in my last post.
Then I went to log in using the Corporate Sync. It failed and then came back and asked me for the server name and domain. For the server information I put in the information from the Host Address field on the box that popped up from the Help-About box in the last step,
listed as: Host address: https://*********.outlook.com/owa but leaving out the OWA on the end. I left the Domain blank and entered my email account as the username, and re-entered the password (Important-it was failing before I re-entered the password.). Then it worked, came back and asked me to set a screen lock code. Yay!
Hope maybe this helps someone else.
As long as this thread was dug up (thank you BTW), I thought it important to update my situation from what I had in the 2nd post.
It turns out there was an Active Directory (AD) configuration error on my account. I figured this out by looking at the log from attempts to connect using Activesync. This lead me to the Touchdown support website which then linked to another website. Basically my account didn't have permission to create devices.
Fortunately I have a good relationship with the AD admins. I was able to configure email on my device without issue using another users credentials. This told me it should work with my accounts. So I sat down with the AD admin and we compared permissions on the 2 accounts till we eventually found the differences.
Once my account was fixed I was able to get Activesync working using Touchdown. Unfortunately I couldn't get Auto Discover to work, but manual setup worked fine. Then I set up my account using both the built-in email client and Enhanced Mail (bought it for 10 cents during Google sale). It worked fine on all 3. Even download Moxier. Turned out, of all the options, I liked the interface and options most using Touchdown so I stuck with that.
Motor's corporate email client makes one assumption I wish they would not make. They assume your Exchange administrator has properly setup autodiscovery. If autodiscovery is properly configured (that requires a proper autodiscover.domain.com address) all you need is your email address and password and everything will work. This is a really bad assumption as most people who set this stuff up are idiots.
That said, after a failure to use autodiscover the client should eventually fail to a manual setup screen for server name, domain login etc.

I do have autodiscovery properly set up for my Office365 domain, it's no longer optional. Not even your Outlook client will connect to Office365 Exchange without autodiscovery working. As I mentioned before, there's not a server name in the traditional sense. Obviously, you can find A server name in the help-->about information when you are logged into the OWA version of Office365, but you couldn't drop that server name into a traditional Outlook setup and have it work.
My domain autodiscover works with other phones. In fact I just added a Windows Phone7 device to it last night and all I had to do was enter the email address and password. I pulled my Xperia Play out of a drawer last night and put it on the charger. It's been factory wiped and I'm going to run through the setup for my Office365 domain on it again. I just got busy doing other things last night like working out and watching the basketball game
Work Around for adding Corp Sync Account without using Touchdown
i had this problem when i went to create a Corp Sync account and did not see a place to type in the Server name ....there is a "work around" for adding a Corporate Email account without using Touchdown... type in your gmail account information let the app verify the account... once it is verified you can go back and modify the account ... you "should" see a box to type in webmail.ihostexchange.net...
Wow my iq dropped by reading this noob thread. Just open the email app click add account select other enter your email and password then press manual setup enter your domain and server your good to go it automatically syncs contacts and calendar.

[Q] Google Play Merchant account and developer privacy

Hi
I'm developing an application and wondering about putting it on the Google Play store, more out of interest to see if I can make a little bit of cash, I'm not expecting riches, but some cash flow would help serve to encourage me to do more Android development.
On going through the registration I need to set up a Google Merchant account, no problems with that, however I need to provide a public business address and website address, and like I suspect is the case with the vast majority of app developers with it being more a hobby from a back bedroom, I don't have a business address or business website, so it will default to my home address. The terms also suggest that if I don't supply a URL my account might be suspended.
I'm also a little nervous about about my home address in case it is made public, and wondering if it is worth going to trouble of getting a domain name for the URL.
What have other people done? I notice some paid apps have a broken website URL, and I can't recall making a purchase on the Play store where I have seen the developers or business address displayed to me.
Any info gratefully received.
Regards
Phil

A hosted website with a custom domain costs nothing nowdays. You'll need it anyway for marketing, etc.

Regards
Phil

Bump. I'm in a similar situation. Wondering what you did about the address? I don't want to give people my home address just because they buy my app.
For the domain I just created a weebly website for free. Super easy and it doesn't have to be high quality. How many people actuality visit your website?
I have my home address. When I start my company that's where I will be based from anyway.

I am in the same situation, a private person releasing an paid app. The deal with the public adress just got to me.
I read somewhere about a guy who entered fake information as the "public" adress, this isn't appealing to me though.
If i buy an apple at the local supermarket it's not like the name and homeadress of the apple grocist is on the store recipe.
Is there any way around this since I'm not really that keen on showing my home adress public..
Or is it "just" the other way around? That I can see the users information but the user cannot actually see the developers information..?
Just give them something.
Just give them any address. It's no big deal. give them the address of a highway rest area. As for the website, you'll make more money than it costs you per year to own a domain just by having a domain. Just use a blogger website etc.. and then hook it up with a domain. Just having the website to support your game/app whatever is very important. :fingers-crossed:
