[Q] What ROM... - HTC EVO 3D

This is a complete newb question, might get some slack for it but no sweat off my brow.
I downgraded my hboot from 1.5 to 1.4, which ROMs will I be able to use without effecting what my now rooted phone.
Thank you in advance!!

If you are cdma, I recommend the two in my signature. MeanROM is very stock with speed and fixes built in. ZR3DX is a rom with fixes but also has a lot of theming. So, stock choose MeanROM, if you like theming, choose ZR3DX.

First and foremost thank you so much for replying! :good:
That's the issue I'm not one who likes Stock ROMS so i didn't know if there was something that I needed to look at each ROM before trying to flash.

If you don't like stock, then you will love ZR3DX. It comes with some nice skins and is Sense based so everything works, but it definitely does not look stock. Also, the community there (Team 420) is very helpful. I recommend you start there.

Nothing, just make sure you get a cdma or gsm rom, depending on what you have.

@sitlet
Thank you for your response, I just was not sure if the new ICS ROM's would do anything to the downgrade rooting that I did.
I appreciate it!! :good:

I downgraded to root and use ICS with no ill effects (AFAIK). Just don't flash the VM firmware.

Im a Samsung user who is familiar with flashing ROM s and rooting.
My friend with an htc 3d EVO wants me to flash his phone.
Are any of the ICS ROMs 100% working and reliable?
I see that you have official CM7 support. Is that ROM 100% yet?

[Q] gsm lite rom with 3d features

Hi, I rooted my 3vo with revolutionary about 6 months ago and didn't do much except debloat and install adfree, been messing with my HP touchpad since....
I'm looking for a Rom with all 3d features, no sense and as lite and fast as possible. I've searched the GSM development pages and quite liked the leedroid Rom and CM7 but it seems I would need to flash a radio and kernal and I really don't want to get that envolved as I need my phone for work everyday. Any GSM users have any good suggestions? Thanks

Leedroid! You shouldn't need to change your radio. And u can flash the stock CPU settings in the op if u don't want to mess with the kernel. I've been running it for a while now and imo its one of the most stable for everyday use.
P.s. it does include sense tho.

Ok cool thanks, I think I will give it a try, I understand I can just flash the rom and kernal zip in recovery but the paragraph he's written about Radios confuses me. If I flash the ROM and zip do I need to add a radio or will my current radio remain?? I've read a lot of pages in the leedeoid thread but can't find anything specific!

[Q] difference in PH98IMG files?

What is the difference in these on this page?
http://www.androidfilehost.com/main/Rezound_Developers/Joel/ROMS/PH98IMG'S/
I am on the rooted ICS leak and never flashed the newpeople one, so i am assuming i am on the oldpeople one. If i am gonna try Evita, do I need the newpeople one or the Sense 4 one?
And what exactly is the purpose of these files?

This is one I wouldn't even begin to be able to answer. Maybe ask JoelZ in the Evita thread.
yeah, mostly a curiosity thing. all you ever see about is which one to install, but i never seen anything about what they are for or why.

PH98IMGnewfirmwarepeople.zip is for those who want to run Joelz BAMF rom and are running the leaked firmware.
PH98IMGoldfirmwarepeople.zip is for the people who want to run Joelz BAMF rom but are on the old firmware, meaning they never flashed the leaked RUU.
PH98IMGSense4.zip was the kernel for the Evita ROM. Pretty sure he has it located in another spot now, though.
EDIT: If you want to flash evita, there is a phimg in that folder with the rom. You'll want to flash that one.

He does have it in the same folder as the Evita ROM, but that one is a slightly different size than all of these, so I was just wondering.

Yeah, you should be on the new firmware people kernel. If it hasn't caused you any problems, though, I guess it doesn't matter that much. But I would definitely flash the kernel that is in the BAMFEvitaReleases folder if you're going to run Evita.

You shouldn't really wait at all. There's no real downside to flashing the 3.14 leak. Even if VZW releases one with security patches later on, one of our devs will just break it and we'll see it as an updated ROM that we can flash.
Sounds good enough for me. Thanks, I'll probably do it tonight after work! Which Rom/ kernel do you recommend?

I flashed the update, wiped, then flashed Team PKMN's Venasuar ROM. The stock 3.14 ICS ROM leak is nice, don't get me wrong. It's just that they really did a bang-up job with their ported Sense 4. Version 3.2 should be dropping sometime today.

I believe the only two roms built off the new base so far are Nils' Business ICS 4.0 and Ineffabilis Deus v1.0 BETA. Use the kernel that comes with them and don't use any CPU control apps with it. It'll be only a matter of time before the other ICS roms update to it.
Thanks fellas!

I suggest doing the s-off procedure and doing a radio/patched 2.21 hboot flash, then choose your rom along with flashing new firmware patch.
Get your hboot off of unlimited.io
Your radios from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22765878&postcount=3
So you can run the new radios on current roms, get new firmware patch from here

There has been some reports of bricks.

I personally tried the S-off yesterday, but ADB devices stopped responding and I would have to fastboot install amonra again and reflash my kernel to get out of the soft brick
Others have had much worse, the majority has had great sucsess, my problem is probably rom based, others, not sure =)
Worth the risk but it would be nice if there was a like instant messaging help for when things go wrong >XP

Hey mate,
Sorry i couldn't give a link before.. So here is the Leedroid 3D v.5.4,
It is super fast and have no bugs atm. Trust my word I had no issues with this version. The final version was released on April. I used this when my evo3d got bricked due to a boot loop. I was new to HTC by then So this ROM is the best if you are not going for ICS.
Here is the link for the original ROM:

Before asking for/referring a rom, the op or referrers need to know if the device in question is cdma or gsm. This referred rom is gsm, the op is cdma.. Combination for an issue

I think to have 4g and/or 3d working, the ROM must have sense. So, as previously suggested, you would have to use something very stock like mean ROM and remove sense.
If you don't mind the sense apps being available, you could just change the launcher to something like adw ex and install replacement apps and widgets from the market. You could even freeze the sense apps to keep them from running.

I just recently (finally) unlocked and rooted my Rezound
And was looking to install the most recent or best release of Cyanogenmod. Im pretty tech savvy although not with all this programming but Ive gotten this far and want to hook up my Rezound with a cool firmware. Does anyone know a link with instructions on how to do this?
Im running a root and unlock from the Unlockr on YouTube at the moment im not sure exactly if that matters but anyways I appreciate the help!

Most of the rom threads include directions. Did you s-off your phone? Did you also install a custom recovery like TWRP, Clockworkmod or Amon-Ra?
Take a look at the first post here if you want straight CM10.

If you want straight CM10, try the link I sent you and follow the s-on directions. Excuse the typo where it says flash CM9, he meant CM10. I would also suggest before you wipe /system, /data and /cache, make a back up of your existing rom in Amon-Ra.
The extra step you need to do when you're s-on is flash the kernel, the rom installer can't do it. GreyTheWolf includes the kernel in a downloadable file which you can place on the root of your sdcard and flash via the bootloader. The other option is to use your PC to flash boot.img using ADB and fastboot.
You can use Hansoon's all in one toolkit to assist in flashing a boot.img from your PC to your phone. - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1504824

So Ive been doing a bit more research on Jellybean roms & HTC Rezound. Seems like there arent very many due to AOSP and drivers working correctly with Sense.

ASOP based roms are a work in progress but are stable enough to use as a daily driver. Lack of drivers and the lack of an official JB release for the Rezound are some of the issues stopping it from being 100% functional. Our devs have done a great job getting the various AOSP based roms here as functional as they are and I'm sure are still trying to work out the rest of the issues.
Sense has nothing to do with it, Sense is just an overlay that HTC adds to the official build to give you the look and widgets. AOSP roms have zero Sense parts in them.
Clockwork Mod is just a recovery much like Amon-Ra or TWRP, it's not a rom.
The rom you listed is not for this phone nor will it work on it.
If the current AOSP releases aren't meeting your needs, I can only suggest you stick to a Sense rom until that happens.
Yeah an official release of Jellybean for the rezound would be nice.
Thanks for breaking it down im sure other members like myself will find this helpful.
Im more recreational than anything so I dont mind beta testing for the Devs! Im sure getting feedback will help them get closer to a stable release

With all these roms that are being released for the rezound I can understand how difficult it must be when members are looking for the best JB rom for Android, it really is a choice of preference.
Im running CM10 at the moment.
Is this the most stable rom for JB at the moment? Also would fastbooting a better kernel help improve stability?

There are a couple kernel choices that expand the governors available and add other features, check out Funky Kernel 2.2 (Funky Bean 2.2 for JB) or Ermahgerd Kernel. Both use the Aroma installer which gives you the option of installing on s-on phones, it creates a PH98IMG.zip you can flash in your bootloader so you don't need to use fastboot with a PC. Just flash the kernel in recovery and follow the directions on the screen.
As for JB ASOP roms, I'm been running Pacman a few days now (the PMEM version) and have been happy with it.
