[Q] What browser? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys
I was just wondering if there is a browser identical to Chrome, except with flash support? It annoys the hell out of me...I like Chrome as a browser and love how there's no lag with it like the stock browser, but the lack of integrated flash support is killing me.
Any other browsers that are very similar? I've tried Dolphin, FF, Opera...didn't like them. None of them are as fast as Chrome...
Thanks,
Elliott

I use Dolphin HD and find it really good.
For me it's the best on the market, I find it fast as well, it loads the pages on desktop view at same speed as a pc.
I dont think it is slow, but then it's personal.

The new version of Firefox is supposed to be quicker than Chrome and it has flash support

Yeah...I just dled it...but no private browsing tabs?

[Q] Web browser keeps crashing

Ive found that my web keeps crashing randomly. Sometimes a web page will be loaded and im reading it, and then it randomly crashes. What can be done to fix this? Are there any other browsers you can suggest?
Dolphin HD is the best browser in my opinion. Lots of customization and even allows you to use gestures.

[Q] Slooow web browsing on DX2

I've had my DX2 (rooted) for about a week now. Since rooting, I've gotten improvements in many of the oft-mentioned areas except for web browsing. Seems when I launch the default browser, it is slow to load the homepage (Google Search). If typing in a url, it seems equally as slow to resolve to the target page. Is anyone else experiencing these issues and is replacing the browser the eventual solve? I haven't yet tried FF or Dolphin, but would be willing to do so if that will speed things up. Or if there are other tweaks/tunes that will help, I'm open to trying them as well. Thanks so much in advance!
The stock browser for me was really laggy. I always use Dolphin HD, especially since it is the main browser I use on my Asus TF..Try it, or even Miren Browser, it's kinda fast too.
I don't like Firefox on my phone (or my laptop that much). It is always laggy and freezes on me.

Thanks, I will give that a try this evening and report back on the results!

Browser - Try Xscope

Very impressive browser, it uses hardware acceleration on ICS making it pretty much lag free. Also supports tabs, themes, flash, full screen, etc.
Currently its my default browser.
cool i've been using dolphin so far, will check out xscope
+1 xscope works great on TFP with ICS
It definitely is faster than the other browsers and i've tried quite a lot !
But i don't like the look of it... stock browser with hardware acceleration would be ideal for me !
I am trying it right now. VERY fast. Love the text reflow also.
Unfortunately, I got WAY to used to the quick controls on the stock browser, so the preferences bar and stuff just seem archaic. As long as im on a page, im happy, but once im moving to another tab or something, im wishing i was on another browser.
all in all, a positive experience, but can use a little work
Tip: if the UI of the browser is slow, make sure to turn off the animations in options.
Thanks for the heads up on this browser. I am liking it so far!
I use ICS browser+ it has all the good things from stock browser like HW acceleration and quick controls but is about 20 million times faster and no crashes
Too many browsers out there to compare already. Might eventually check it out. STOCK browser, opera mobile, and boat browser are the high performers for me now. I already have 5 different browsers constantly comparing..lol

I've had all of those installed and this browser is waaaay faster then any of them. I also love the feature of hitting the menu button to go full screen instantly.
Does Flash work properly in this browser? This is definitely a weakness in Opera...

Yes. Works perfect. By default it is on demand but I switched it to on so it auto loads all flash instantly

[Q] browser recommendations

What browsers are you all using? Why do you like it. I was using stock for a while, and recently switched to opera, but i am finding it quirky and a little flaky.
Depends on what your needs are. If you want a quick, touch based interface, stick with Opera. The UI just got updated and it's a lot easier. It can also download through filehosts. Otherwise, if you're using an external mouse, try chrome beta or maxthon. They have small, hard to touch buttons, but the mouse makes it feel more natural. Chrome is still in beta though and it crashes rarely.
I don't like, on opera, how often when I click on the page, it zooms. I also had several posts that I did on facebook that showed up there, but when I used another browser they were not there. There are some other issues that don't come to mind now.

What UI elements did they change in Opera? I keep wanting to switch, but I utterly can't stand not having visible tabs on top.
Additionally, the stock browser and ICS+ have spoiled me beyond return with site specific desktop agent mode. I think that is my most critical feature at this point.
I really like Boat Browser. Very fast, simple but very configurable interface and options, stable, and supports Flash.

Extremely minor, if you click on an X, it will close instead of having to click it twice.
Try Chrome beta!

I like chrome but no flash support. Granted I don't need flash all that much so it it generally fine to use even with fingers. I don't know why someone said it has small buttons. If I need flash I just use the stock browser. I don't know why everyone insists on NOT using it. I like chrome because I can access my desktop bookmarks and that pretty much the only reason.

I've been using Boat browser, since it didn't crash that much, but have been lately switching back to ICS+ since I like the quick controls.
I've been using Boat Browser most of the time since it supports Flash, desktop mode works for most sites and I can easily adjust the fonts for my dang old eyes.
ICS Browser +
Only browser not to force close on me yet. Absolutely love it. Shame i cant use it on my phone which has gingerbread.
Maxthon Browser
I've been happy with Maxthon. Never heard of it until I ran across it in the app store. Redraws are very fast, autosizes to wide pages, has gestures, etc. Very few add-ons, but seems to do the job. I have version 1.5
Another vote for Boat, and I think I've tried all of them.
But the best is doing a remote desktop and using Firefox on Windows.
Since .13 update i am using stock browser. It is far more stable and pretty fine. I have chrome, Firefox, opera and dolphin inhaled. The second preferred is dolphin.
Had some keyboard issues with Chrome Beta, so sticking with the stock browser: seems stable.
Prefer the Chrome bookmarking though.
FG
Opera mobile used to be good but now it crashes all the time.I suggest Boat browser & Dolphin HD.
I kinda swap between Opera and Chrome although i will probably go straight to Chrome as soon as it's out of beta cause it's hella fast at the moment and will probably just get faster. The only thing I don't get is why they didn't release it earlier.
I use Opera if I want to 'chrome-to-phone' and download something, otherwise I use Chrome for everything else.

Smoothest atrix browser to date :D

You sure we are talking about the same browser? Mini doesn't stutter, its fast and smooth. HD does stutter and isn't as fast.

try larger websites like my favourite QJ net or android police it takes long to load , stutters on scroll and zoom compared to opera. best test in my opinion. the stuttering is absent on smaller websites when viewed on dolphin, such as xda. then again its a very stuttery zoom and scroll that irritates me its eh semi smooth I guess.
Hmm just tried it and I didn't see an improvement. It was too bulky and the GUI looked low quality.
Been using ICS Browser+ on ICS, though on Neutrino I love Opera mobile. It's the easiest to use and fast, for me. The UI can seem bulky, but what I do is disable Navigation bar and Status bar in settings. This doesn't 'disable' them, it just gets them out of the way until you need it by hitting the menu button.
Try maxthon browser much better than stock ics browser or opera
definatly boat browser
Opera mobile all the way. been using it windows mobile and only chrome can be faster but chrome doesn't have flash... I use opera mini for slow connections.

I've tried them all again and again. Miren beats them all, opera mobile, dolphin mini,x scope.
Too bad they stopped updating it and its not on the market anymore.
The only one that is close is boat browser, the most modern browser up to date.

Can i get the link to Miren browser or its apk. i am unable to find it any ware.
Edit: Found the version 1.2 and i just want to know why the hell this browser is not on google play ?
1.2 is the latest (and last probably)
It is a damn good browser,I don't know why they have stopped it,maybe because it is I think part of miui roms and has something to do with copyrights?does anyone know?
If you search google "where is miren" you'll see that many people are desparate without it...
In my opinion dolphin and opera are the most known ,that's why many noobs consider them the best...dolphin is heavy even dolphin mini, and opera mobile is slow and laggish compared to miren...

XScope Pro is another browser worth trying.

The best one is Boat Browser because of speed, reactivity, and battery friendly.
I always used Opera Mobile on my cm7 roms. However, now that I am on cm9, I use boat browser. I've tried all the ones noted in this thread and have always gone back to this browser
Opera is the best because of text wrapping. Zoom into a page and the text re-flows to fit the zoomed in portion. All the other browsers require you to flick left and right to read all of the text
You don't know your phone good enough it seems...
Every damn browser does text wrapping...
What you talking about?

Automatic text wrapping? Opera is the only one I've come across to automatically reflow the text when you pinch and zoom in. Other browsers require you to double tap after you zoom in. I have opera, dolphin mini and maxthon. Maybe I haven't updated them yet, not sure.
Also, is there a reason you have to post a rude comment like that? Who pissed in your cereal today...
Could have simply said that most browsers do text wrapping but you had to try to show some kind of superiority;. Probably to make up for a lack of something
